“Eleni took great care of our cat while we were out on vacation. This was the first time we left our cat alone for 6 days and were quite stressed about it. Thanks to Eleni, our cat did well and we didn’t need to worry about her during our vacation.”

“Candice was great! She was very communicative while we were away and we came home to a happy cat. I would recommend her to anyone and will be using her services again in the future.”

“Kiana is prompt, ultra-reliable, and truly cares about the animals in her care. She has been fantastic with my shy kitty and coaxed him onto her lap by the second visit! She provides detailed updates at every visit as well as many photos so you can feel secure about how well your fur baby is doing in your absence. Under her care, my kitty is calm and happy when we return. Highly recommend!!”

“David helped me out last minute when another sitter canceled on me! He was great and very patient with mocha, as she took her time warming up lol. He showed up everyday on time, was very communicative in making sure mocha’s needs were met. Would recommend booking David for your fur babies!”

“Joy did great with my two cats! She sent pics every day, was very communicative, and I came home to super clean litter boxes :-) Much appreciated on a 9-day trip - I hadn't left them alone that long before, and it was reassuring to know they were being well taken care of.”

About: Hi! I’m a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a lifelong dog lover based in Astoria. I provide reliable, attentive dog walking and drop-in care with a focus on safety, structure, and understanding canine behavior. I grew up around dogs and am comfortable with a wide range of breeds, sizes, and temperaments. I have experience caring for energetic puppies, large breeds, seniors, and dogs who may be shy or reactive on leash. I grew up with a diabetic lab that I was regularly entrusted to provide insulin to, and under my care, he lived for an additional 5 years following his diabetes diagnosis. My background in counseling has given me a strong awareness of body language and stress signals, which I apply when working with animals. Every dog communicates, and my job is to pay attention. On walks, I prioritize: • Safe leash handling • Positive reinforcement and consistency • Awareness of surroundings and other dogs • Hydration and weather-appropriate pacing For drop-ins, I can provide feeding, fresh water, medication (if needed), playtime, and lots of updates so you feel completely at ease while you're away. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big decision. I treat every dog as if they were my own and strive to provide them with the patience, structure, and genuine care they deserve. I look forward to meeting you and your pup! As a graduate student with a flexible but structured schedule, I intentionally build pet care into my daily routine. I plan my academic work in blocks, which allows me to dedicate focused, reliable time to dog walking and drop-in visits throughout the week. Because I manage my schedule carefully, I’m able to be punctual, consistent, and fully present during each visit. Pet care isn’t something I squeeze in between obligations — it’s something I deliberately plan for. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize maintaining the pet’s normal routine to minimize stress and disruption. I follow all feeding, walking, medication, and household instructions carefully and consistently. On walks, I use secure leash handling, stay alert to surroundings, and avoid unnecessary risks (such as crowded dog areas if a dog is reactive or nervous). I pay close attention to body language and energy levels to adjust pace and activity appropriately. During drop-in visits, I ensure fresh water, feeding as instructed, enrichment or playtime, and a quick visual check of the home environment before leaving. I always double-check doors, crates, and gates to make sure everything is secure. I also provide clear updates and photos so owners feel confident and informed while they’re away. My goal is for both pets and owners to feel calm, safe, and well cared for.
“This was our second time booking with Sylvia and we still can’t recommend her enough! We had some adjustments to our cat’s care routine and Sylvia was so accommodating and kind to ensure his needs were met - all in addition to the thoughtful notes and pictures she provides with each visit!”

“Eileen took wonderful care of my 3 year old cat while I was away. She was responsible, communicative, and made sure my cat got lots of attention and pets. I also appreciated how clean and tidy she kept my apartment. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!”

“Kaili was wonderful for me and my cat while I was away for a few weeks. While I knew my cat would be shy and hide the entire time under the bed, Kaili provided plenty of updates and left treats out for her to find while she was alone, in addition to making sure there was plenty of water, food & clean litter, and updating me of any concerns and reaching out with any questions. I look forward to connecting with Kaili again for future drop-in visits!”

“Devon was so easy to work with! She gave great updates on her visits and was able to work with a last minute booking. She was also super flexible with timing and availability. Would definitely recommend!”

“Hayley is terrific. She took wonderful care of my cat, Rosie and sent me great photos and updates everyday. I highly recommend Hayley if you are looking for an exceptional cat sitter. Thank you!🐈”
“Erin took amazing care of my kitties, making sure to play and cuddle with them while I was away. From the photos she shared each visit, they clearly appreciated the attention and most tellingly, they were relaxed and happy when I arrived home after a week, which means her visits really calmed them. She kept their litter and food area clean too! I’m so grateful for and happy with her care.”
“Katerina was incredibly punctual and professional, she made my first time using Rover a breeze. Would book her again in an instant and highly recommend her to others!”

“Karalyn is very sweet. She takes detail records for my cats and plays with them! Not all sitter plays with my cats. I can tell she really likes cats.Definitely will book her again.”

About: I’ve been around dogs for as long as I can remember. I grew up with my family dogs Daisy the Shih Tzu for 14 great years, and caring for her taught me everything from daily routines to understanding her weird little quirks that make each dog unique. Since then, I’ve become the go‑to dog sitter for my friends, regularly helping with walks and overnight stays. I genuinely love getting to know each dog’s unique personality and making sure they feel safe, happy, and comfortable. I’m patient, attentive, and know the importance of taking care of your dog as if it was my own. Your pet’s comfort and routine matter to me, and I’m committed to giving them the same love and attention they expect at home. I am currently working a flexible hybrid job in Tribeca and live in Astoria. I am flexible in terms of being near either location and more throughout the week. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in a clean, well‑organized 1‑bedroom apartment (about 500 sq ft), which creates a calm, controlled, and quiet environment that’s perfect for dogs who thrive on consistency and attention. My apartment is a short walk from multiple parks, so your dog will have plenty of space to play. The space is fully pet‑proofed and there is plenty of space for your dog’s bed/crate.
“Huge thanks to Bailey for taking on a last minute drop in request! Our dog can be very anxious so very appreciative of her being accommodating our requests for his care.”

Candice was fantastic! She sent us pictures and reports during the entire visit. Our little grumpy old lady is not an easy one to deal with, doesn’t allow anyone to pet her, but she managed to play with her, which is a win win 🤗 ❤️ 🐾 We had a last our flight canceled and Candice managed to show up even though she was off work hours and at a friends party, so we are very thankful 🙏🏻

Eileen took wonderful care of my 3 year old cat while I was away. She was responsible, communicative, and made sure my cat got lots of attention and pets. I also appreciated how clean and tidy she kept my apartment. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

Shane was great. She was a great communicator throughout the whole time and i’m very fortunate to have had her as Bananas sitter. She went out of her way to care for him and communicate how he was doing every visit. Will be booking her again. Thank you, Shane!

Xiaoying is probably the best catsitter I have ever had! My cat is 14 and quite shy, and it truly takes a cat whisperer to get him to socialize with you if he is not familiar with you, but somehow on just the first visit, Xiaoying was able to pet, play with, and feed snacks to my cat! Not only did she take her time with each visit, she left a very thorough report with many photos and I felt extremely reassured that my cat was doing well despite me being away. I would absolutely book again and would recommend her to anyone!

Simon was a wonderful cat sitter. He was thorough, responsive, and sent thoughtful, funny updates that made me feel completely at ease while I was away. It was clear that he paid close attention to my cats and really cared about how they were doing. I would absolutely book with him again.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
