“Marcela did a wonderful job walking Beau and following instructions as he's still a puppy and training to walk. There is another puppy she walks in the apartment, but although we offered that she could walk Beau together with that puppy, she stated that she preferred to give each dog individual attention, which we were surpised by and appreciated. She took a lot of photos and videos, and we'd gladly ask Marcela to walk Beau again!”

“Christopher was so kind and patient with my cat. They enjoyed fun play times together and I came home to a happy kitty! He sent very detailed updates which really ease my anxiety. Would definitely recommend him and will be using his services again next time I'm out of town!”

“Xiaoying is the best! She took great care of my two cats when I was away for a week, was extremely thorough with her report cards (tons of photos for the anxious pet parents missing theirs babies) and was always responsive to messages. She even brought new toys for my cats to play with, and they absolutely loved spending time with her! Would highly recommend Xiaoying and would book her again in a heartbeat!”

“Nancy is simply the best. Our dog is pretty wary of new people and has a medical condition, and Nancy is just a wealth of knowledge and support. Highly, highly recommend.”

“Bianca was amazing with Cocoa. You can really tell that she loves animals and I know that Cocoa appreciated all of her visits. I loved how caring she was and how much attention she paid towards Cocoa”

“Alissa was absolutely fantastic, once again! Very clear communication, extremely dependable. And our cat, Moon, loves to play with her and is very affectionate with her!”

“Judith L was a very conscientious and considerate cat sitter for me. She was punctual and aware of what I had requested for care of my two cats. She sent pictures and updates for each visit, so I wouldn't worry about my cats while I was away. I would highly recommend her. She even brought in late deliveries for me. A five star rating is not high enough for her. Thank you, Judith!”

“Jamile was wonderful to work with and she went above and beyond in taking care of our cats! She was highly communicative, shared detailed updates and photos, and the cats got along really well with her, despite them usually being distant towards new people. I felt comforted that she was taking care of them while we were out of town. Highly recommend her services and we’ll definitely be working with her again in the future.”

About: I grew up in somewhat of a menagerie in south Florida where we had lots of property and animals like 5 Akitas, a ring tailed lemur, a kinkajou, 2 house cats and 2 big cats (lynx & bobcat). I am no stranger to rolling up my sleeves at home or for my clients. I've cared for pets internationally in Morocco and domestically in NYC. As a natural caregiver and as a clinical social worker I have the highest standards when it comes to those in my charge. I currently work remotely on a part time basis as a recruiter and a caregiver for my grandmother. We have a full house with support coming from many directions and I am looking for a way to make a little extra cash while spending time with animals. My grandmother and husband would prefer not to have a permanent pet, so this is a great compromise. As a clinical social worker I take my work with humans and pets very seriously. It's a mission and I took an oath as an MSW graduate to do my best for all in my charge. My home is in a quiet residential neighborhood in Jackson Heights near a dog park. My home is secure, comes with a backyard and is very clean. Nothing would please me more than to have a furry guest from time to time.
About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. For 8 beautiful years, I was the proud owner of a rescued senior Golden Retriever, and she was my absolute world! Loving and caring for her during her senior years taught me the true value of patience, giving special attention, monitoring mobility, and providing the gentle, loving care that older dogs truly need. Additionally, I’ve spent time volunteering at an animal care center, mostly assisting the operations team. That experience gave me the skills to handle different temperaments and needs with confidence, empathy, and patience. I promise to bring that exact same love, dedication, and protective care to your beloved pet. When they are with me, they are family, so you can expect tons of love, safety, and happiness for your furry friend! My afternoons and evenings are completely open and dedicated to pet care! This makes me the perfect match if you need someone reliable for afternoon walks, dinner-time feeding, or late-night companionship. Whether your furry friend stays with me for doggy day care or boarding, they will fit right into a warm, loving evening routine filled with attention, safety, and tons of love! For me, safety goes hand-in-hand with exercise! I love helping pups burn off their extra energy outside during our walks also leaving some time to sniff and explore, ensuring they come back happy, relaxed, and ready for some downtime.
“This is my 2nd time using Katherine. She does a great job with my pets and really cares about making sure they are Fed, Happy, and full of energy each day. I definitely will be using her again on my next 2 business trips.”

“Jeffrey was incredibly communicative, answering texts promptly and giving helpful updates. He followed all instructions and was just great with my kitten, giving him his medicine and playing with him.”

About: Hello :) Growing up in a house that had 1 dog, 1 cat, 11 parakeets and 1 rat, I have spent the majority of my life around pets and have seen it all. With so much time around animals, I have grown to appreciate the unique personalities pets can have and cherish the special relationships and connections we can foster with them. While cats are my favorite kind of pet, and really enjoy staying at home curled with a book with a trusty feline by my side, I have grown to enjoy the loyalty and playfulness of dogs, whether it be playing together with toys at home, playing fetch at the park or going for runs and walks together, I feel happiest when I have a furry companion by my side. Between driving across the country with all 14 pets and caring for everything from Lineolated Parakeets Bearded Dragons and Tarantulas to Corn Snakes and 60lb standard poodles, I have lots of experience caring for a variety of needs in terms of attention and space in addition to feeding care protocols. If your pets are strictly carnivores, need live food, from mice to cockroaches, I have the experience and comfort to take care of them. Besides my love of school my second love has always been animals and I cherish any opportunity I get to spend time with them. I sincerely hope I can make new friends with your animal family members soon! Weekdays I am at school and work from 10am to 5:30pm but am available for overnight sitting, preferably in the UES or BK. On the weekends, I am much more open, barring a few weekly errands and chores that set me up for the following week. My schedule makes overnight sitting the most optimal form of care for me, as I can bring my books and a pack of clothes anywhere and still stay productive and on time with my deadlines. Weekends, give me the time to do all that and more, and there's nothing better than a nice walk in Prospect Park with a trusty friend at my side. Managing my work and school has made me extremely diligent when it comes to time management and communication and I have taken these skills over to my work as a pet sitter. I place an immense value on clear and responsive communication as well as punctuality. When booking with me I can guarantee that I will arrive on time, and keep you updated as needed throughout my time with your pets. Ensuring your peace of mind and your pet's safety and wellbeing are imperatives that I take satisfaction in fulfilling. With my background in pet care, which ranges from lizards, dogs and cats to birds, I have found that the key in creating a safe and comfortable environment for any pet, is approaching them with understanding and listening at the fore. Species may generally act similarly, but I find that giving pets the chance to make the first move in terms of connecting is the best way to gain trust and make them feel safe and comfortable. Once some basic familiarity and a base level of comfort has been created, I like to see how they like to play and give them a good bit of fun right off the bat, before we start winding down and co-habit the space together. This gives them a positive association with me, and gets rid of some of that fun loving energy (hopefully). From there, it's all about keeping a close enough eye on them to make sure they are having a nice enjoyable time, while not overcrowding them in their own space.
“Vanessa was sweet and consistent in taking care of my kitty while I was gone. She communicated throughout the entire process and before, to coordinate key exchanges and meet and greets. I am grateful for how much she played with and hung out with my cat while I was gone :)”

“Our cat Dewey was in great hands with Devon, who did drop-in visits over a few days. Devon was communicative and gave us a lot of confidence that Dewey was being well looked after: highly recommend her as a sitter!”

About: Throughout the years, I have had the wonderful opportunity to look after the beloved pets of my friends and family. Whether it was for a short overnight stay or during their extended absence, I have always been entrusted with the responsibility of caring for their furry companions. This has allowed me to gain valuable experience in various aspects of dog care, including feeding, grooming, walking, and of course, engaging in fun playtime activities with them. Pet care is already part of my daily routine since I have a dog of my own. I’m used to regular walks, feeding schedules, and giving pets the attention they need, so caring for others fits in naturally. My wife, Rosie and I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. Rosie is accustomed to the company of other furry friends. In case needed, Rosie can spend time with her grandparents while I take care of your beloved pet. Rest assured, I will provide the same level of care and affection as if they were my own.
About: I have always been surrounded by dogs and cats and I thoroughly enjoy being in their company. I have an immense love for animals and find great joy in spending time with them. I am currently taking online classes, which gives me a very flexible schedule. I am able to dedicate plenty of time to spending quality time with your best friends. I have veterinary experience from working at an animal hospital, which has given me a deep understanding of animal behavior and needs. I am detailed oriented and thrive on following directions precisely to ensure the best possible care for your furry friends.
“I had a great experience with the nail trim service. She was incredibly responsible, professional, and patient throughout the entire visit. She handled everything with care and made sure my dog was comfortable the whole time. I really appreciated her attention to detail and reliability. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and skilled pet caregiver!”

Candice was fantastic! She sent us pictures and reports during the entire visit. Our little grumpy old lady is not an easy one to deal with, doesn’t allow anyone to pet her, but she managed to play with her, which is a win win 🤗 ❤️ 🐾 We had a last our flight canceled and Candice managed to show up even though she was off work hours and at a friends party, so we are very thankful 🙏🏻

Xiaoying is probably the best catsitter I have ever had! My cat is 14 and quite shy, and it truly takes a cat whisperer to get him to socialize with you if he is not familiar with you, but somehow on just the first visit, Xiaoying was able to pet, play with, and feed snacks to my cat! Not only did she take her time with each visit, she left a very thorough report with many photos and I felt extremely reassured that my cat was doing well despite me being away. I would absolutely book again and would recommend her to anyone!

Abigail was amazing! She took notes when she came over for key pick up and managed to get the routine despite me being all over the place explaining. She provided detailed cards after each visit and was extremely helpful when our sweet boy got a little sick while we were away.

Bianca was amazing! She took great care of our cat while we were on vacation. She came as early & late as we needed with no problem. She sent pictures & updates every day and that really put our mind at ease. We knew he was being well cared for. We will definitely use her in the future!!!
Bri was fantastic watching our cat Coco while we were away in Florida! Coco is usually quite shy with strangers, but Bri was incredibly patient with her and by day 2 of our trip Coco had already come out of her shell and was begging Bri for belly rubs! Bri went above and beyond by even cleaning Coco’s dishes, and shared great photos during her visits! We are so happy we found a reliable and communicative sitter and will definitely be using Bri again! :)

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
