About: I grew up in somewhat of a menagerie in south Florida where we had lots of property and animals like 5 Akitas, a ring tailed lemur, a kinkajou, 2 house cats and 2 big cats (lynx & bobcat). I am no stranger to rolling up my sleeves at home or for my clients. I've cared for pets internationally in Morocco and domestically in NYC. As a natural caregiver and as a clinical social worker I have the highest standards when it comes to those in my charge. I currently work remotely on a part time basis as a recruiter and a caregiver for my grandmother. We have a full house with support coming from many directions and I am looking for a way to make a little extra cash while spending time with animals. My grandmother and husband would prefer not to have a permanent pet, so this is a great compromise. As a clinical social worker I take my work with humans and pets very seriously. It's a mission and I took an oath as an MSW graduate to do my best for all in my charge. My home is in a quiet residential neighborhood in Jackson Heights near a dog park. My home is secure, comes with a backyard and is very clean. Nothing would please me more than to have a furry guest from time to time.

“I had Xiaoying feed my 2 year old cat Mo for several days while I was on vacation and she was incredible! She went above and beyond, checking and cleaning her litter box, bringing toys, and spending lots of quality time with her. Her reports were always incredibly detailed and included lots of pictures. She was quick to respond and made the whole booking process super easy. I can't recommend her enough!”

“Annie is amazing - my 2 kitties completely fell in love with her. She went above and beyond to make sure she provided them the best care while I was away. Her daily updates are great and made me feel a bit better to be away from my boys! Would 100% recommend using her services 😻”

About: I have always been surrounded by dogs and cats and I thoroughly enjoy being in their company. I have an immense love for animals and find great joy in spending time with them. I am currently taking online classes, which gives me a very flexible schedule. I am able to dedicate plenty of time to spending quality time with your best friends. I have veterinary experience from working at an animal hospital, which has given me a deep understanding of animal behavior and needs. I am detailed oriented and thrive on following directions precisely to ensure the best possible care for your furry friends.
“Eliza was absolutely fantastic!! She took care of our two cats while we were away. My one cat has to take medication morning and night so I was so nervous to leave him and she reassured me and sent me photos and videos of the boys. 10/10 will be using her again! Thank you Eliza!”

About: I’ve spent over a year working full-time as a dog walker in Lower West Manhattan, caring for dogs and cats of all sizes and personalities in every kind of weather. My experience handling energetic puppies, shy or reactive pets, and calm senior animals has taught me patience, confidence, and clear communication. I bring reliability, consistency, and genuine care to every visit, ensuring each pet feels safe, understood, and loved. I work full-time Monday through Friday until 4 pm, so I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and sitting weeknights as well as all day on weekends and holidays. I’m currently looking to take clients only in the Astoria and Long Island City area, so I can stay close and provide consistent, reliable care. When caring for pets in my clients’ homes, I focus on keeping their routine consistent and their environment calm. I make sure they’re fed on schedule, have plenty of fresh water, and get regular walks tailored to their energy level and needs. I’m also comfortable managing medications, whether it’s pills, drops, or simple supplements, and I always follow your instructions carefully.

“Judy was great! Very easy and pleasant communication, did the job and then some. My dog was very happy to see her. I will definitely ask Judy to help me again when I need someone.”

“Our cat Dewey was in great hands with Devon, who did drop-in visits over a few days. Devon was communicative and gave us a lot of confidence that Dewey was being well looked after: highly recommend her as a sitter!”

“Ashley is the best! So great to be able to take long vacations knowing our babies are in great hands. And she always sends the cutest updates and photos! :)”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. For 8 beautiful years, I was the proud owner of a rescued senior Golden Retriever, and she was my absolute world! Loving and caring for her during her senior years taught me the true value of patience, giving special attention, monitoring mobility, and providing the gentle, loving care that older dogs truly need. Additionally, I’ve spent time volunteering at an animal care center, mostly assisting the operations team. That experience gave me the skills to handle different temperaments and needs with confidence, empathy, and patience. I promise to bring that exact same love, dedication, and protective care to your beloved pet. When they are with me, they are family, so you can expect tons of love, safety, and happiness for your furry friend! My afternoons and evenings are completely open and dedicated to pet care! This makes me the perfect match if you need someone reliable for afternoon walks, dinner-time feeding, or late-night companionship. Whether your furry friend stays with me for doggy day care or boarding, they will fit right into a warm, loving evening routine filled with attention, safety, and tons of love! For me, safety goes hand-in-hand with exercise! I love helping pups burn off their extra energy outside during our walks also leaving some time to sniff and explore, ensuring they come back happy, relaxed, and ready for some downtime.
“Bianca was awesome! She took great care of my cat while we were away, was super communicative, took pics and provided updates. Would 10000% recommend her and use her again in the future!”

“Rebecca was so kind and patient with my senior pup! She separated time to meet us beforehand and provided excellent updates when we were away. My dog had a great time & I absolutely will be booking Rebecca again for my next trip!”

“Rose is the ABSOLUTE best!! She took care of my susu and made her feel very comfortable and happy! I would 100% recommend her to anyone who wants their fur baby to be in good hands. She gave her her medicine, changed her litter, made sure she had food and water and even maintained her morning routine and spent quality time with her. Can’t say enough about how much of a jem Rose is!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Jackson Heights
Xiaoying was amazing at taking care of my two cats! She is very responsive, followed through on my instructions, and asked for clarity whenever there was any confusion. We had a situation where our apartment keys stopped working and Xiaoying was incredibly understanding and flexible and worked with our super to resolve it. Everyday on vacation, I received a lot of photos and a lovely summary of how my cats were doing which put my mind at ease. My cats honestly looked like they were spoiled and had more fun with her than with us 🤣 I will be rebooking and highly recommend her !
Nicole is THE catsitter we always ask for help whenever we need to go on a trip. She makes sure she covers every note on the list, with lots of care and love. We very much enjoy the detailed Rover card and lovely photos she took with our cats! Thank you, as always!

Medina was absolutely wonderful! My request was extremely last minute, and I even had to modify it when my flight was cancelled, but she was beyond flexible through all of it. On top of that, one of my cats needed medications, and she handled that with no problem at all. What really amazed me is that my cats trusted her right away, even though I never had the chance to introduce them beforehand. I would 100% book her again. Thank you so much, Medina, for taking such great care of my cats!
Christina took such great care of our two kitties! She got our shy girl to come out on the first day and had no issues administering pill medication to our older one. She even covered an extra day for us last minute. Definitely recommend! Thank you Christina!

Annie is amazing - my 2 kitties completely fell in love with her. She went above and beyond to make sure she provided them the best care while I was away. Her daily updates are great and made me feel a bit better to be away from my boys! Would 100% recommend using her services 😻

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
