“Alyssa was perfect. Clear and consistent communication all throughout while watching my 2 dogs. She sent pictures and videos and consistently gave me reassurance that everything was going well and that my boys were happy. I would give ten starts if I could.”

“Eleanor did a great job of looking after my 4 year old Frenchie girl. My pup enjoyed a lovely day of nourishment, exercise and gentle playtime in her care. When we met her for the first time she asked thoughtful, comprehensive questions about our little one’s health and preferences and when we picked her up, we received a full report card. 💕”

“She took amazing care of our dog during doggy day care. She sent lots of pictures and even sent him home with some fancy treats! He was well loved and cared for.”

“Darlene took great care of our senior dog Sully. She gave the insulin injection and took him for multiple walks for pee breaks. Prompt communication and updates meant that we knew Sully was doing well at all times. Thank you Darlene!”

About: My love for dogs started the moment a stray wandered into my yard when I was a child - I hid him in the backyard for three days before my parents found out ! :) I’ve been caring for animals in various capacities for most of my life and have been part of the Rover community since 2022. As a PhD student who does Rover full-time, I have the flexibility to be available when needed. Whether it’s drop-ins, house-sitting, boarding, or walks, I’m happy to accommodate your schedule - including last-minute bookings. Your pet will always have my complete, undivided attention! I’ll always respect your home and routines, following your rules and adapting to whatever works best for your companion. I’ll treat your fur baby with the same love and care you would, and do everything I can to make them comfortable and at ease while you are away. A note to pet parents: If your pet has any special needs, allergies, medications, or specific conditions or triggers, please share them with me. The more I know, the better I can care for them! Can’t wait to meet you! 🐾 I am currently a full-time PhD student working remotely. I typically have a few social events in the evening or weekends for a few hours. Otherwise I’m home and able to care for your furry one full time! :) I will always follow the rules of your home and take their health needs seriously, caring for them as if they were my own fur baby!
“Exceptional! My 5-month old puppy, Zion, LOVED playing and being with Laura for 2 days in a row :) Laura is a very kind, warm, compassionate upbeat smiley person. Her and Andres have a lovely, clean, place that was very comfy for Zion. She is an excellent communicator on logistics and updates. Highly recommend; enjoy!”

“It is clear that Flora loves dogs in how she interacted with our puppy. Drop off and pick up were easy. She also was accommodating of special requests and totally understanding when our puppy had some additional health related needs.”

“Euitae was amazing! He took care of Kairo for a couple of hours and he left us energetic and came back tired. We love to see that, and I’m glad Euitae kept up with Kairo’s exercise! Will definitely be using his services in the future :)”

“Angelina was very attentive, caring, and responsive! She did a phenomenal job with my Brockie and he came back energized with lots of smiles. Will book again!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and been a dog owner since I was 10 years old. I love caring for them and providing fun, comfort and companionship! I work from home so am very flexible with days & times. In addition to being home all day, my work schedule is flexible so not too bogged down at my desk all day. Lots of time to walk and play! I have a big, comfortable, quiet apartment. I live right near Carl Schurz park and about 20 minutes from Central Park - great for walks :)
“Kelli was awesome with Maya! Maya had an awesome time and Kelli was also very flexible with us when we were running behind. Will definitely use her again!”

“Amazing hosts! Zack can be a handful at times but they made sure to make us feel secured leaving our pup with them. They are super sweet and nice with sending me updates and pictures of Zack. Would definitely book them again!!!”

“Nicole was so great! I got a last minute filming gig that lasted a full 12 hours. I felt so at ease knowing that Gryffin was well taken care of. I love that she has bunnies (as do I) and has a pup of her own that Gryffin could play with. She updated my worry-wart self frequently and sent me gorgeous photos of my boy having a good time. Absolutely recommend her and will be using her again in the future! Thank you so much!!”

“Wody took great care of our dog! He was friendly and easy to communicate with. We received very cute picture updates. Remy came back happy and relaxed after his day with Wody & Macarena. We would book Wody again!”

“Xander was able to accommodate us last minute. He sent photos throughout Kaia’s stay & he was flexible w/ our drop off & pick up times. We appreciate his communication & plan to book him again in the future.”

About: I can share my love and care as much as I miss my 12-year-old spitz Ssaldduk that I left in my home with my family! I am a designer working at home, and my job allows pretty flexible time for walking dogs around my house which is just three blocks away from the dolores park! My house has 2 bedrooms dogs can comfortably sleep and play, and a small fenced backyard where dogs can run around. I can walk dogs most of the time of a day!
“So grateful to Paulette for agreeing to watch Archie all day on very short notice. And they had a great time together! Archie came home happy and exhausted in the best way!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Manhattan
Pablo had a great stay with Kehlani and was very happy when I picked him up. Additionally, Kehlani was very responsive before and during the time she cared for him. I was also appreciative of the fact she was available on somewhat late notice. I will definitely check to see if she is available the next time we need a dog sitter.

Tania was a savior and she was able to take care of Dragoncito as a last minute request. She was very communicative during his stay, sending pics/videos and sharing how he was feeling and behaving. She was also super nice, and I knew I was able to trust her as soon as we dropped off Dragoncito. Dragoncito showed positive body language in every picture and video, he seemed very content, and that made me feel super happy. I know that she will be my go to person every time I travel to New York.

Guillem and Maria took such wonderful care of Milka and made the entire experience incredibly easy and stress-free. From the beginning, they were warm, attentive, reliable, and clearly genuine dog lovers. They kept me updated throughout the stay, which gave me so much peace of mind, and I could tell Milka felt completely comfortable and happy with them. They treated her like she was their own, giving her plenty of attention, affection, and care. It’s not always easy to leave your dog with someone else, but I felt completely confident knowing she was in such good hands. I would absolutely book with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, caring, and responsible sitters. Thank you both for taking such amazing care of my girl! ❤️🐾

Sungnim took such great care of Kirby! 🐶🤍 She was very sweet, attentive, and made me feel comfortable knowing Kirby was in good hands. I also really appreciated that she even tried to help groom and trim Kirby’s nails for me, which was so thoughtful and definitely above and beyond! Kirby was happy and well cared for when I picked her up. I would absolutely trust Sungnim with Kirby again and highly recommend her! 💕

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Manhattan commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
