“Couldn't ask for a better sitter! My dog can be nervous in new places and around new people, but Eleanor made him feel right at home and accommodated for his health issues as well. About: Whether you require daycare, boarding, house-sitting, or occasional drop-in visits/walks, you can count on me to treat your pet like a precious, irreplaceable gem! I’m the pawrent of a Pekingese dog, two Exotic Shorthair cats, and a Persian cat. I am also a foster meowmie for other kitties. I have experience with senior and special-needs pets, including as a volunteer dog walker for PAWS NY, an organization that helps people in need keep their pets in their lives. I will send you lots of photos and videos so you can be fully informed about the well-being of your pet/s. I am a full-time pet care specialist. In addition to dogs and cats, I’m also happy to care for bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, birds, and other exotic pets. I’ve read some horror stories about overnight sitters, as I’m sure you have. If I am house-sitting for you, I will be staying overnight in your home, so your pet will be in its usual environment. If you choose daycare or boarding with me, I will be staying overnight with your pet in a secure, cozy apartment with a fenced-in backyard (my own dog and cats won’t be present). I don’t walk dogs off leash and I don’t open windows for the safety of small dogs and cats. If your animal has any symptoms of illness, you’ll be advised immediately. If it’s hot out, I will ask that we run the A/C for the health of your pet. The well-being of your pet is as important to me as the well-being of my own pets.
“Lee and Alex are fantastic duo! They are incredible hosts and have graciously agreed to take care of our pup last minute. Lee was so thoughtful and kind, and sent so many pictures and videos as she knew I was worried (this was the first time we tried day care), and made me feel at ease. She is truly a great mama and it felt like she was my good old friend, and my pup's auntie. Thank you Lee and Alex! Satto can't wait to spend time with you and his new dog friends again!”

“Amazing hosts! Zack can be a handful at times but they made sure to make us feel secured leaving our pup with them. They are super sweet and nice with sending me updates and pictures of Zack. Would definitely book them again!!!”

“Tracy is always so good with my dogs! They come home happy and healthy every time, and I LOVE the pictures and updates she sends me. A kind soul who’s great with dogs!”

“Tingli takes absolutely wonderful care of our shih tzu. He loves going to doggy day care with Tingli and we appreciate the security of knowing he’s in her loving care. She provides a rover report card of his day and takes lots of adorable pics. Thank you for taking great care of Benji!”

“I can tell my dog loved Carly because he was absolutely not amused to see me at the pick up, which never happened before. He looks happy and exhausted, thank you for taking care of my fur baby.”

“Angelina and Donald took wonderful care of my two Vizslas. I could not be happier. I was visiting New York for the day and needed someone to look after my two very active dogs for the afternoon. I was a little nervous about leaving them because they can be a lot to handle and are not accustomed to the city, but I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Angelina and Donald took them on a five-hour adventure through Central Park and then east to Andrew Haswell Green Park. Angelina sent photos throughout the walk, so I could see how much fun they were having. She also fed them exactly as requested and had them ready when I arrived for pickup. The dogs were tired, happy, and clearly adored Angelina and Donald. I will definitely book with Angelina again the next time I am in the city.”

“Alyssa was perfect. Clear and consistent communication all throughout while watching my 2 dogs. She sent pictures and videos and consistently gave me reassurance that everything was going well and that my boys were happy. I would give ten starts if I could.”

“Haziza was so sweet and caring with my dog. He has separation anxiety and she went the extra mile to make him feel comfortable. Great communication with pictures and very prompt! Thank you so much!”

“Crismar was great with my puppy Luna. Luna was not feeling her best and Crismar provided updates/ pictures for me throughout the day. When Luna was feeling better, she kept her active and moving throughout the day. Definitely will be returning in the future.”

She treats my fur baby like her own. As a sitter, she’s very communicative throughout the day. She sends photos/videos throughout the day as updates and if she is unsure, she asks clarifying questions. Towards coco, she’s attentive, caring, and compassionate. When I picked coco up, she was calm and didn’t seem to want to leave 😂 which, overall, is a good sign!

Joseph is an absolutely fantastic dog sitter! From the very beginning, he managed to build a wonderful bond with Jack and truly connected with him. He treated him with so much care, attention, and affection, making sure Jack felt comfortable, happy, and loved throughout his stay. Thanks to Joseph, Jack had a fantastic vacation in New York, and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to look after him. It was clear that Joseph genuinely cared about Jack and treated him as if he were his own dog. I highly recommend Joseph to anyone looking for a dog sitter in New York. Honestly, I don’t think you could find anyone better. Five stars aren’t enough! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amanda took great care of our dog Stella during daycare. Stella looked like she had a great time on their walk and Amanda took care of all of Stella’s needs for the evening. Amanda was also very responsive and easy to coordinate with, we’d definitely ask her to look after Stella again.

Nicole is an amazing dog sitter! My senior pup absolutely loved her. She was incredibly responsive and answered all my texts right away. Nicole took excellent care of Lila while I was away, and I felt completely at ease knowing she was in such good hands. I would gladly use Nicole again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and truly caring sitter.

Luna was in great hands with Kasey! I was so happy to hear she coexisted well with Kasey’s dog during her stay. I was also incredibly lucky to find someone so great in the neighborhood just hours before I needed a sitter. Highly recommend Kasey and would absolutely book with her again!

This was our second time booking with Sophia, and she continues to be wonderful with our puppies. It’s clear how much she genuinely cares about them, and we feel completely comfortable knowing they’re in her care. She’s incredibly attentive, easy to reach, and keeps us updated throughout their stay. Most importantly, the puppies are happy and comfortable with her, which says everything. We’re so glad we found someone we can trust with them and will definitely continue booking with Sophia!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Manhattan commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
