“George was so amazing to Turbo!! his little dog and Turbo got along very well. He gave me a daily update and took Turbo on nice walks. I really appreciate him working with my flight schedule. I landed very late at night and he stayed up so I can pick up Turbo on my way home so I didn’t have to make a second trip. Highly recommend this sitter!”

“My furbaby was comfortable with Keirstin. He spent a day with her before his 3 nights of boarding. He was quite excited to see her again to start his boarding for which I was pleased to see. While we were away, Keirstin sent us photos and updates and she was very responsive when I asked questions about his settling in her home. Thank you Keirstin.”

“We wanted to find a sitter in our neighborhood for when we are away. Jane was amazing and took in Siuy as though she was hers. I received constant communications and photos and loved how Siuy and Fancy zoomied with each other. My hope is that Jane would be willing to look after Siuy the next time we are away. I don’t think I can trust another sitter!”

“My dog had a great experience staying over with Chandni. She was warm and kind, creating a lovely atmosphere for him. She made sure he was well exercised too! Looking forward to working with her again soon.”

“Ashley was so amazing - she went above and beyond to make sure my dogs were cared for (especially when my little pup was having stomach issues unexpectedly). Nothing phased her and she was super communicative along the way. Can’t recommend her enough. Trust her 100%!”

“David took excellent care of my dog. He sent check-ins regularly and was easy to coordinate with for pick up and drop offs. I would definitely book again.”

“We couldn’t have asked for better sitters than John and Madeleine! They took such amazing care of our dog, Lady, and truly went above and beyond—especially when she came down with a stomach bug. They woke up in the middle of the night to take her out, made her special food to soothe her tummy, and ensured she was as comfortable as possible. We appreciated their frequent updates and adorable pictures, which reassured us while we were away. They were incredibly accommodating and thoughtful throughout the entire process. We’d love to have them watch Lady again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, compassionate sitters!”

“Bridget is an excellent dog sitter. Our pyredoodle is a bundle of separation anxiety, for us and him. Bridget sent frequent updates and pictures showing how well he was doing and allaying our concerns. Highly recommended.”

“Kristen was a fabulous sitter! Communication was impeccable, and it was so obvious that my dog felt loved. I appreciated all of the photos too. Would definitely use again and recommend!”

“Sean is FANTASTIC! We received daily updates and photos of our very happy little senior dog enjoying walks and playtimes. We will definitely book with Sean again. He is so nice and we were relieved to have found him. Truly a valuable resource!”

“Christine and Addison are truly special cat sitters. We recently went to Europe and had to leave our nervous 3 year old cat for almost 2 weeks. He had never been watched outside of our home, and we knew he would be anxious. For the first couple days he was very nervous and scared being in a new place, but Christine and Addison were extremely sensitive and patient with him. They kept him in a separate space where he could start to relax and then slowly introduced him to the rest of the home and the other cats as he became more and more comfortable. We received constant updates about how he was doing, along with photos and videos. After a few days he was having so much fun and had made 3 new kitty friends by the time we had to pick him up. I almost felt bad taking him away as he'd become so content being there! We knew he was in competent and caring hands while we were away which gave us great peace of mind. If you need to board your cat Christine and Addison should be your top choice!”

“Thank you to Shishi for taking such great care of my 6 month old puppy while I was out of town. My puppy was very happy and safe in her care, and I received lots of cute photos each day. I would definitely ask Shishi and her family to watch my girl again.”

“Tiffany and Joel were my best experience on rover yet - they were very communicative about my dog, ensured he stayed active, shared tons of pictures, and kept a close eye on how he was doing at every point during his stay. Will definitely be requesting another stay with them!”

“Rochelle did a great job boarding our two cats for two weeks while we had some work being done at our house. Her setup is great - she works from home, so they aren't alone most of the day. Professional and accommodating. Clearly loves cats and sent daily pictures. I'd absolutely recommend her services!”

“Hassandra took excellent care of our older Pomeranians. She was attentive, gave them their medication every day, and sent daily pictures. Our dogs came home happy and healthy. Would recommend Hassandra!”

“Adam was great with my cat, Griffin. It was obvious my cat was very happy and well taken care of. I wish that I knew Adam booked multiple animals - both dogs and cats - in his home at a time. That said, the dog he owns, Hermes, is awesome and super friendly; Griffin and Hermes were immediately friends. Adam was also very responsive. Will definitely book with Adam again!”

About: I’ve used Rover for years and loved it for my pup! I’m looking to take up PT walking in the neighborhood and would love to get some time with your little angels ❤️ I work remotely in the neighborhood so can be very flexible with times of walks and drop ins no problem for your pets, just let me know! I’ve grown up with animals my entire life and recently had to say goodbye to my angel lab of 12 years who lost his battle to cancer. I am very familiar with the needs of animals and truly love them so much. Totally understand they miss their humans when not home, so will be sure to give them extra love!

“John is great with my tiny poodle! My girl Eva has anxiety and I know she must be crying for me pretty badly at first.. since she annoys my own family when I leave. When she comes back home after a stay at John’s she is literally so much more relaxed 😌 He communicates with a daily update that brightens our day. Thank you John for the care!”

Paulette was amazing! I felt completely at ease knowing Bongo was in great hands while I was traveling. She kept me updated throughout the day and sent me lots of pictures, which I really appreciated. She made me feel very comfortable and gave me so much peace of mind. I would definitely recommend Paulette to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter! :)

Adrienne was awesome! She made sure our dog Moku was comfortable with them and their dog Hugo. We had 2 meet and greets, one when we booked and another as the starting date was closer. We got sent photos twice a day with updates on how the day went. We could tell Moku was having fun. She also went out of her way to make frozen treats for the dogs and Moku received some as well. Overall, great experience and we didn’t feel we had anything to be worried about during our vacation. Will def book again! :) a+++++++++

Daniel is reliable, friendly, patient with our dog, and has helped us with last minute walks and boarding many times. Our dog is a rescue and is very anxious at baseline; he is very attentive to her mood and comfort level and we know she is safe on walks with Daniel. Highly recommend.

Tori was amazing with Brooklyn! She was responsive and communicated to us regularly. She was also very understanding that we were traveling to a place with low contact and we may not get any updates— she still reached out and kept us in the loop. Will use Tori again in a heartbeat!
Allison did an amazing job with Penny! She was incredibly accommodating with pick up and drop off. Throughout Penny’s stay I could fully trust Allison was taking great care of her and she provided updates and pictures throughout the day. Penny had a great time with her dog Lucy and I would absolutely book with Allison again!

Maria "got" our two, very different, dogs immediately and gave them the appropriate care for the length of their stay with her. Medicine, food and treat particulars, and different kinds of walks all were administered as needed. And, bonus, Maria's updates can be hilarious.

Jesse was absolutely perfect caring for my shy cat. She bonded with him so nicely. He sent me pictures and videos everyday so that we wouldn’t miss her so much even though we did. You can tell he really loves cats in the care he took, questions he asked. Followed instructions. Definitely will book with him again.

Kate's clearly experienced and genuinely cares about the dogs she watches, my dog Rua was in great hands! Kate was warm and friendly from our first meeting, and I could tell right away my dog would be comfortable with her. Rua came back happy, relaxed, and well cared for after a few days, which told me everything I needed to know. Communication was easy throughout, and I never had to worry while I was away. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone to care for their dog!

Britt took great care of our senior little guy. She kept us regularly updated and sent lots of photos. Gus has special care needs given his age. We fully trusted Britt throughout the stay to keep him happy and healthy . Thrilled to have found a great sitter for Gus.

Vasiliki is amazing with Kira. My dog is a bit anxious but she loves Vasiliki and looks forward to staying with her all the time! She is super responsive and sends me frequent updates about Kira during her stay. Vasiliki was very accommodating of accepting Kira for a last minute request as well. Kind and responsible, will continue to have Vasiliki take care of Kira moving forward! 🙂

Absolutely amazing sitter! ❤️ I’m so grateful I found her! My dog Pebbles stayed with her overnight, and I felt completely comfortable knowing she was safe and being well cared for. When I picked her up, Pebbles was happy, safe, and perfectly fine. Communication was amazing throughout the stay. She sent me photos and updates, let me know that Pebbles ate, took her out to pee, and even told me when she had a little accident which she was so understanding and reassuring about. She is genuinely such a nice, kind, and caring person. From the moment I met her, I could tell she truly cares about the dogs she watches and is very understanding and easy to communicate with. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! I’m actually already using her again. Pebbles will be staying with her for a whole week while we’re on vacation, since unfortunately we couldn’t bring her with us. That says everything about how comfortable and confident I feel leaving my baby in her care. 🥰🐶❤️ Highly recommend Claudia!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
