“Ryan was a phenomenal sitter! He was quick to accept my last minute request. He was attentive and followed all my instructions while sending video and picture updates at my preferred cadence! Ryan is great with dogs and even offered a few toys and treats of his own while checking with me first to see if ok. Ryan was an amazing sitter and I plan to use him again!”

“This was my puppy’s first time not sorting at home since I got her in November and I was terrified. Maisha offered a video call, showed me her home and where my pup would sleep, and answered all 800 of my questions. This is my first pet ever so I have no idea what to do, bring, or expect and Maisha made me feel so comfortable. Safe to say, I’ve found my dog sitter for life💜”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hoboken
Ivette and Gonzalo were wonderful! They stayed in touch and sent updates and pictures while I was out of town. My girl was picked up on schedule and returned freshly bathed and happy (and tired!). While I hate to leave her, I know where I want her to stay when I must. 10/10, for sure. Thank you both!

Michael was great with our dog and took great care of her during her stay. He sent regular updates throughout, which gave us peace of mind, especially as first-time Rover users. He was also accommodating when we ran behind for pickup. We were very happy with our experience and would definitely recommend Michael

Shaiza was absolutely amazing! She is so sweet and we felt immediately that Charlie would be in great hands when speaking to her. She took amazing care of Charlie, took lots of pictures, and sent updates throughout the day. She was also very accommodating for pick-up, when we had a last minute hiccup. Thank you, Shaiza! We will absolutely book you again in the future!

Francesca was absolutely wonderful. It was Charlie’s first time staying with her and I could not have felt more comfortable. She was communicative, very accommodating, and went above and beyond taking care of Charlie. Will 100% have her look after Charlie again and would highly recommend her as a sitter

5 Stars truly aren’t enough for Sal & Troy and the incredible care they provide for my two huskies Hunter & Lavender! This time was no different including the fact that it was a last minute request, and they saved our butts here, AND I was running behind schedule on the day of their pickup. They’re extremely accommodating, flexible, and most importantly, very caring of our two floofs. Sal & Troy, thank you again. We’d seriously be lost without you and can’t thank you enough!

Philip was absolutely wonderful with our dog Hades! Hades has anxiety and needs a little extra patience and care, and Philip went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable and at home. It was clear from the start that he genuinely cares about the dogs he watches. His sweet pup, Nana Bu, was also incredibly welcoming and helped Hades settle in, which made such a difference. We could tell Hades was in great hands, and it gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. We couldn't be happier with the care Hades received and would absolutely book with Philip again. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for a kind, attentive, and trustworthy sitter!

Heather and Ronald took such amazing care of Tilly for the weekend! I was nervous leaving her as she is a young puppy but Heather kept me so updated with pics of her! She looked like she had an absolute blast with other dogs and their outdoor space as she is still a little too young to go on walks. So responsive, accommodating, and trustworthy. So great if your leaving your young puppy for the first time!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
