“Ashley was so amazing - she went above and beyond to make sure my dogs were cared for (especially when my little pup was having stomach issues unexpectedly). Nothing phased her and she was super communicative along the way. Can’t recommend her enough. Trust her 100%!”

“Willow had the best time!!! They really were so communicative, and helpful and sent so many pictures and updates it was a relief for me! Willow has special needs and they really made sure she was comfortable and put at ease and I can’t wait to use them in the future!! Thank you!”

“Kylie and Kris are amazing! This was the first time Winston stayed with them, and they made him feel right at home. They sent me updates throughout the weekend and were super responsive, and took such good care of him. They were accommodating and kind, and when I picked him up he was freshly bathed and very content! I will definitely have Winston stay with them again!”

“Christa took great care of my two dogs for a couple of weeks and I didn't have been more pleased with the frequency of updates and pictures. She was very welcoming and flexible, and I felt great knowing my dogs were doing great during their stay. I would highly recommend Christa!”

“My furbaby was comfortable with Keirstin. He spent a day with her before his 3 nights of boarding. He was quite excited to see her again to start his boarding for which I was pleased to see. While we were away, Keirstin sent us photos and updates and she was very responsive when I asked questions about his settling in her home. Thank you Keirstin.”

“Ryan was so kind and attentive to Poppy!! I had issues with my travel and ended up being away longer than I was supposed to and he cooked food for her!”

“Mitchell might be the BEST sitter we’ve ever booked on Rover. He sent the best pics of churro and reassured us every day how much fun they were having, putting us at ease and letting us have an awesome vacay. So communicative and responsive, I trusted churro had the time of his life. He walked churro home so that when we got back from our trip, he was already in our apartment!! Honestly no notes, 10/10.”

“Miki always does such a great job watching our bernedoodle puppy Nelly. She sends great updates and always makes us feel sure Nelly is in safe hands having a fun time. Nelly loves staying with Miki and we will definitely continue to trust her with our pup.”

“Adam was great with my cat, Griffin. It was obvious my cat was very happy and well taken care of. I wish that I knew Adam booked multiple animals - both dogs and cats - in his home at a time. That said, the dog he owns, Hermes, is awesome and super friendly; Griffin and Hermes were immediately friends. Adam was also very responsive. Will definitely book with Adam again!”

“I can’t recommend them enough! We were nervous to leave Elsa with anyone, but they were wonderful and treated her like family. The frequent updates kept our minds completely at ease. They were absolutely wonderful and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

“The very very BEST! Meilin was so helpful for us when we got stuck abroad during a snowstorm and kept our pup calm and snuggly for several extra days. A true life saver!”

“As a first time Rover user, I am appreciative of the service and very happy with the care that Amanda and her family gave to my Skye. Amanda was very communicative via both messages and photos of my dog throughout the day. My mind was at ease and I felt comfortable and confident in the care Skye was receiving. I will definitely be a return customer and am glad to have found a committed caregiver in Amanda.”

“We’ve used Lucas a couple of times now for overnight boarding and most recently for a long stay of 10 nights. Archie comes back happy, well cared for, and tired. He loves being boarded with other dogs too. Lucas is reasonably flexible with pick up and drop offs which is super helpful! He always sends updates when we ask. It can be hard to find someone that will take on a big dog in Hoboken and were very glad we found Lucas.”

“David and his partner were amazing with my Tater :) They know so much about rescue dogs and helped with his anxiety while I was away. This is the longest I’ve been away from Tater and they helped me too by sending lots of pictures and updates on him! Highest of recommendations! Thank you again!!! Such a wonderful experience!”

“SUMMER IS AMAZING!! We’ve had such a great experience with her as our dog sitter. It’s clear from the start that she’s a true dog lover - our pup warmed to her immediately and always comes home happy and relaxed. Summer is incredibly thorough and attentive, taking the time to understand our dog’s needs and routine. She also sends consistent updates, which gives us peace of mind while we’re away. She is very punctual (i.e., always ready for pick-up/drop-off) and has always been super flexible with our schedule when plans change. She’s even helped us out in cases where we needed a last-minute sitter, which was a huge lifesaver. It’s such a relief to know our dog is in such caring and capable hands and that we have a go-to sitter in the city. Couldn’t recommend her more highly!!”

“I know my dog has found a home away from home! Maisha was consistently sending me updates and pictures. Made sure my dog was well taken care of and having fun. I was happy to see pictures of him with other poo dogs! I would definitely recommend”

“Kiersten & Casey really are the best sitters!! I am always at ease whenever Nalu stays with them, they do such a great job at always keeping me updated with lots of pictures!”

“She was really nice and great! She took care of my cat with love and good care. I got a lot of pictures daily and even videos. Definitely I’ll choose her for the next time as well.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hoboken
Brian was amazing throughout the entire time Julia stayed with him. He updated us every day with pictures, videos and was very communicative. Julia is not the easiest dog to handle, and he was beyond understanding and patient with her. We would definitely recommend Brian to anyone who needs taking care of their pets and would 100% use his services in the future.

Cathy and Max have shown so much love and care to my dog, Miya. She immediately created a lot of trust through our initial meetup, and proceeded to treat Miya as her own. Thank you both for welcoming her with open arms and giving the attention and care she needed to feel loved!

This is our second time having Mari watch Beau and she’s so great! This time we had her watch Beau for three nights while we were away and she kept him active and engaged. She’s so responsive and shares fun photo updates of their adventures. I would definitely book with her again!

Shirley is such a sweet and kind person. She was truly so accommodating and attentive. Princeton had a curveball health issue while we were out of town and she went above and beyond to care for him and ensure me that he was ok. I’m very thankful for everything she did to make him feel comfortable and healthy.

Whatta refreshing experience! They were awesome with my cat Ziggy. Hes a young kitty and skiddish around humans because he started out as a stray. Showed up at my door a few years ago so i took him in. I know he was a bit of a challenge but they seemed to handle him extremely well. Thank you both very much!!

Katsiaryna was absolutely amazing! She understood Sonny’s boundaries and worked with him to ensure he was comfortable. She paid attention to his body language and never forced him to do anything he didn’t want to. She was great communicating with me and providing updates.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
