“Marlene has stayed with my dog Lexi at our home multiple times when we go away. Marlene is very accommodating, she is able to make last minute changes to her schedule to fit our needs and goes above and beyond to make sure our dog is comfortable, safe, and happy. I really appreciate her flexibility. Our place is always nice and tidy when we come back home. Marlene is very responsive when contacted throughout the day, sends daily updates and pictures and it gives us peace of mind Lexi being in good hands.”

“Wren was absolutely outstanding with our girl Georgia! She cared for her for about a week or so over the December holidays. She sent adorable photos and videos of her, took her on lots of walks, and overall gave her a lot of love! We could tell it was definitely mutual! We’d have Wren house sit for us and care for Georgia in a heartbeat!”

“I can’t say enough good things about Candiance! She was so communicative throughout her stay with our dog and provided us with amazing photos and videos. She sent daily updates and our dog was so happy he barely even noticed we were gone. If I could give 10 stars I would!”

“Morgan is my go-to sitter! She has taken care of my pup Harry multiple times for long stays, who has pretty bad separation anxiety. I feel that he is safe, calm and happy when he is with Morgan and I always appreciate her constant communication and pictures to update me. Morgan is also very respectful of my home while staying for long and short stays and I always come back to the apartment just how i left it. I highly recommend her!”

About: Well to begin with, I have experience walking numerous dogs since the day I was born. My love for animals in general is immense, contributing to the positive well being of animals is my passion and being able to focus that into a career is something I would have never imagined simply by making sure dogs go when they need too. It all began by simply watching over dogs, and then it lead into feeding them and eventually I took it upon myself to walk them. The first dogs I took care of was a chunky miniature pincher and a 70 lbs pit bull terrier, I am not prejudice towards animals specifically dogs since they are in my field and I have years of experience with different breeds of all sorts. As I am a new LLC on the rise I am in the midst of obtaining my ARC certifications for the health and general knowledge of animals, considering on a professional level I take this very accordingly and not enough dog walking companies supply the same for their walkers. Being trustworthy, reliable, respectable, caring and cautious are few of the many traits I carry and endorse for my business in which I believe are critical in the dog walking business.Every dog is unique, just like a person I would not want to disrespect their space and have them catch a bad vibe from me. I like to make sure I build comfort with the dogs I work with considering not many may be comfortable with letting someone unfamiliar walk them, my specialty. Walking dogs for me personally is never something I like to do in a haste, I enjoy in executing my job correctly and efficiently. I make sure every walk is special at times they come back home with a better attitude than the dogs left in. My main goal for the dogs are exercise, safety, fun and making sure they use the bathroom enough. I am a full time dog walker and lifetime animal lover so meeting accommodations for him or her is never a problem. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile hopefully I gain the opportunity and trust of being able to walk your furry child! Taking care of pups is my daily life. I have my own pups so it comes to me naturally, to want to take care of others! I do this full time! First of all, i make sure the pup is as comfortable as possible make them feel as if the parents are home. I walked them as many times as possible, keep all their needs up to date & give lots of love.
“Taylor took amazing care of our cat!! She sent a ton of photos and kept us updated the whole time. Will definitely be requesting her next time we’re out of town!!! Thank you Taylor!!”

“Collin was great! From scheduling the intro, during, and post his stay with my pups was very communicative. My pups loved him and they both were very happy upon my return which tells me that Collin took great care of them. I definitely recommend and will be using Collin again to watch my fur babies.”

“Denise is a blessing! I have no words to describe how grateful I am and lucky to have found Denise during the holidays. While no one was available on this app, Denise was flexible and kind to watch my senior dog while I was traveling to see my family for a week. I highly recommend Denise because she demonstrates everything that you hope for while you are away: she sends daily updates makes you feel that your dog is safe, she is trustworthy and honest, she is very flexible and communicates clearly. Thank you Denise and I will definitely rebook your services if your schedule permits. Sailor misses you!”

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life, and had 4 dogs at a time for most of that. I’m experienced with senior dogs as well as puppy training. I train dogs with maximum positive reinforcement. My dog/assistant grew up with elderly yorkies and is eager to lend a paw. I’m a freelance motion designer, part time e-learning professor and I work from home on my own schedule. My dog goes on at least 5 walks per day, with poops after meals. Doggy breakfast is at 7:30, dinner at 5:30. For boarded dogs my building is very dog friendly with a fenced courtyard. There are 2 dog parks within a 5 minute walk and several
“Yasmin was an absolutely joy. She watched our home, two small dogs and cat for a weekend and provided exceptional service and frequent updates. We will definitely be booking again!”

“I can not speak highly enough of Nas, and would recommend her for any pet sitting services. She took care of my cat, in my home, for three full weeks while I was on an international trip with care, attention and reliability. I had total peace of mind the entire time I was away, and my cat was happy, relaxed and well looked after when i returned. On top of that, Nas left my home in a truly pristine state, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated bonus coming home after a long flight late in the evening. Nas as trustworthy, attentive and genuinely caring - she went above and beyond - which is why I didn't hesitate to book her again for for another upcoming trip.”

“Alex came to our home to sit with our Ridgeback. He was on time and very attentive to Bodhi. He sent us videos and pictures throughout the day. Bodhi is a reserved dog but Alex made very effort to win him over. I would highly recommend him and will certainly use him again.”
“Lana is great! She texted us daily updates with pictures and videos, is super neat and organized and I could tell that my cat had a safe and happy time, would definitely recommend booking time with Lana!”

“Siri was incredible! She was flexible, communicative, and took incredible care of our boys. Our house was left immaculate, clean, and all our instructions were followed well. She didn’t hesitate to ask clarifying questions to make sure they received the best care possible! We will absolutely be booking her again.”

“Anna was great with Luna. She maintained her schedule and Luna really got along with her. Anna also gave us regular updates/pictures on Luna, something very important to us given the time zone difference as we were traveling to India.”

“Aniko was great with the cats! The girls loved her and she was very communicative, easy to work with, and sent lots of photos :) would definitely book again and recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West New York
Katie was an amazing dog sitter. She stayed at our house for over 2 weeks. She walked our dogs, brought them to the beach area, and they were so happy to stay home. She also, got our mail, and boxes we had delivered, and took amazing care of our home. We came home to a clean house. She even washed her bedsheets. Katie is very responsible and caring. We would definitely book Katie again! We think she is the sweetest, and the absolute best dog/house sitter!

Yisha was outstanding with her care and support. Her update was fabulous and more than what we've asked for. Even when Rumy and Kkumi messed up the bedsheet, she went and washed them for us! We would definitely recommend her for any of our upcoming trips for sure!
Malavika was an amazing pet sitter! She watched my cat over the weekend and was incredibly communicative, sending regular updates and photos throughout the day. She made sure to spend quality time with my cat, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away on vacation. She also left my apartment very clean. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!!

Ody did four nights of housesitting for our 3-year-old yellow lab, Tilly. Ody was great to work with, super responsive, and obviously very experienced. And all of the delightful photos and videos we received while traveling showed that Tilly and Ody had a really fun time together!

Grace was an absolute gem and we couldn’t recommend her more highly. From the moment we left, she made Chester feel completely at home, she was by his side the entire time, keeping him entertained with activities and giving him so much love and attention. Knowing Chester was in such caring hands made it so easy to relax while we were away. What really set Grace apart was how far she went beyond dog sitting. She cleaned our apartment and washed all the linens ahead of a guest arriving. Her communication throughout was consistent, and we always felt informed and at ease. Grace truly treated Chester like her own, and we’re so grateful for everything she did.

Stephanie continues to be a great, communicative, and reliable sitter for Willow. It’s very clear whenever I get back that Willow has been happy and comfortable. The peace of mind from having someone that you trust like this makes taking trips much easier - can’t thank Stephanie enough! Please don’t book her when I need her!

Yuliia is the first person outside our family we've ever trusted with our dogs. We’re that neurotic. We have four large dogs, each with a distinct personality, a specific diet, and a list of medications — ear drops, eye drops, and pills at both breakfast and dinner. They’re rambunctious, playful, and, if I’m being honest, a bit needy. Overwhelming, some might say. But Yuliia not only took it in stride, she loved them like her own. Throughout the day she sent videos of the dogs gobbling their meals, eagerly taking their meds, chasing balls, cuddling up for petting sessions, and sleeping blissfully. Her texts were so clever and entertaining, we've saved every one. Yuliia is knowledgeable, professional, warm, and kind. We can't wait to go away again (and our dogs are already begging us to leave)!

Sue is amazing! She took such wonderful care of my dog and made the entire experience completely stress-free. She is kind, communicative, flexible, and I felt confident that my dog was in great hands. I can’t recommend Sue highly enough and would happily book with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West New York walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West New York maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West New York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
