“Candiance took amazing care of our elderly, attention-addicted cat while we were out of town, making sure she got her meds in and sending regular updates. She was also very gracious when our flight was delayed by several hours and we were late getting back.”

“Emily did a fantastic job house-sitting Beau! She went above and beyond and made sure he got his energy out on long walks and during multiple play sessions. Beau loved her. She also kept our apartment super clean for when we returned. We're so glad we found Emily and will gladly work with her again!”

“Ariana stayed in my condo while I traveled for three weeks. The photos and video she sent showed me Orion was well-loved and happy. On my return, my condo was clean and orderly, so I know she took good care of my home as well.”

“I have booked with Natalia multiple times for my puppy, Watson. She is a fantastic communicator and very reliable. I feel completely at ease relying on Natalia to look after my dog.”

“Alena is the best! She takes such good care of my puppy, and he loves spending time with her. She has taught him many new tricks, as well as helped with basic training. Highly recommend Alena as a trustworthy and competent dog sitter”

About: I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, and plenty of love for you pets. I've cared for dogs and cats of all sizes and friends and family often trust me with their pets when they're away. I work Monday-Friday full time, but I have flexibility to work from home so my schedule is flexible. I'm happy to arrange my schedule as needed. I am easily adaptable to different environments so I will stick to ground rules set by the client. Strong communicator so will make sure everything goes smoothly.

About: I’ve always been a big animal lover and have experience caring for both dogs and cats. I’m patient, reliable, and genuinely enjoy spending time with pets whether that’s going on walks, playing, or just giving them attention and care. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine, and I’m available for walks every day as well as pet sitting during the week. I’m flexible and can adjust to your pet’s schedule and needs. I provide a quiet, calm, and safe environment where pets can feel comfortable and relaxed. I follow their usual routine closely, including feeding, playtime, and litter care, and always respect their space and personality.
“My father passed away unexpectedly and I had to leave for New York within minutes. My biggest concern was my two dogs. I reached out to Anna and she came immediately without hesitation. From that moment on, I was completely worry-free. She sent consistent updates, photos, and videos, and my dogs were clearly happy and well cared for the entire week. She stayed with them full-time and kept me calm during a very difficult time. When I returned home, my house was spotless and beautifully organized. She truly went above and beyond. She is the best dog sitter I’ve used in 9 years — 100% trustworthy and reliable. I will absolutely be using her again.”
“Genesis was amazing!! She kept me up to date with cute pictures and took such good care of my dog, giving her so much love and attention! I can’t recommend her enough!!”

“Adam was wonderful with Dewy and Monroe, both dogs have health issues, and Adam was able to work with them. I travel alot and feel very comfortable having Adam stay in my home and watch my two dogs. Thank you Adam and looking forward to our other trips that are already booked.”

About: I’m very conscientious to an acute degree. I’m sensitive towards the fur child’s comfort while also being able to establish firm boundaries. I want the best for them. I’m currently on semester break for college, so I have open availability! I can do drop ins, dog walking and house sitting. For the Fall, I’m available after 2pm on Mon & Wed, 8am-3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and all day on the weekends I’m very attentive with the pets I take care of. I always check intermittently on their well-being to make sure that they’re okay, especially if we haven’t established familiarity yet.
About: I have had multiple dog breeds in my life. Boxers, Dachshund, English Bull Dog, Schnauzer, Labs, Rottweiler and a Jack Russell Terrier. I also take care of my moms German Shephard and my daughters Frenchie when needed. I am very comfortable around dogs and have trained many in my life, through positive reinforcement. I have also had multiple exotic pets including rabbits, a sugar glider, chickens, ducks, hamsters, guinea pigs and ferrets. I am comfortable with care outside of dogs and cats. I currently have 5 cats. One I have to administer asthma treatments too and 2 that get pills daily. I also have a scaredy cat and manage to keep my agressive personality female from beating up everyone else. I recently adopted a cat with 3 legs named Charlotte (her leg was broken when she was rescued) and navigated a hind leg amputation due to cancer for my girl Nelly. I am not afraid to provide your babies with the same love and care. I will wash all food or water bowls daily. I am not afraid to clean a litter box or take apart and wash a fountain. I love animals and would be honored to help with yours. I pet sit all over New York and New Jersey and am comfortable with commuting but I also have an suv. If I need to grab keys from a concierge, gate attendant or doorman please ensure the staff is prepared for my visit and knows I am coming. I would hate for wait time to affect the amount of time I am spending with your pets. I do book visits that are often back to back. I also don’t like to have to bother you (the pet parent) while you are traveling because I can’t access your home. I am also happy to schedule a meet & greet and get keys them. I can’t wait to meet your babies! I have flexibility with my work schedule and can add in visits during my normal week. Having an animal break in my day is something I always look forward too. At this time I am only caring for pets in clients homes. I am comfortable walking dogs, providing cat play time or dog playtime outdoors. I have an suv so in an emergency that is available.

“Michael was AMAZING with our two kittens while we were away. He went above and beyond, continually engaging them in play and being highly sensitive to their personalities. The photos and updates he sent each morning were so enthusiastic and showed how much the kittens were thriving in his care. They're both still adolescents, so Michael wanted to give them space to warm up to him. And they did in no time. Joey likes to be held on his back and get his stomach rubbed and was completely comfortable with Michael doing so. Dee Dee did her usual sprints around the house, bouncing off the walls (literally), which showed how happy she was. I highly recommend inviting Michael into your home to care for your pets. He cared for our kittens like we do. We are so lucky to have had him sit for us while we were out of town. It was such a relief knowing that he was there and that they enjoyed being with him so much. Thank you, Michael. You're one of a kind.”

“Jamys was a total star! I asked her to managed by energetic high energy girl so that I could be free to do a bridal gown fitting for a friend’s daughter, usually a somewhat anxious event. Jamys was calm and friendly. She was an expert at handling my excitable dog. I recommend her highly!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West New York
Lola was so kind, responsive, and caring. Our pets were as obsessed with her as she with them. They were very loved and cared for. She not only took great care of our fur babies, but also spread her good vibes to our leaf babies. Everything thrived in her care. Highly recommend Lola! We are so grateful for her last minute availability 8 Stars from our 8 Paws

This was my first time leaving my two senior dogs (Bella, 14 and Gigi, 11) overnight and finding Bella was such a blessing! I felt completely at ease knowing they were with her. My dogs have very different personalities and needs. One is more active, while the other is much slower, has medical conditions and needs medication twice a day. Bella understood both of them and even picked up on little details, like Gigi enjoying being carried outside but not wanting to be picked up indoors lol. Gigi ended up having stomach issues while I was away and Bella handled everything calmly and kept me informed. She was attentive, responsible and incredibly in tune with my girls. It feels good knowing I now have someone I can trust when I need to go out of town and that my dogs will be comfortable and well taken care of. Thank you Bella!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West New York walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West New York maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West New York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
