I could not be happier with Sara! This was my first time having a non-family member watch my dog while I was out of town and I was so nervous about it. I looked at a lot of options before deciding on Sara and am so glad I did - Sara stayed at my place and with Sasha for two weeks. She took such wonderful careful of Sasha and sent me multiple pictures and updates every day. Sasha clearly loved her and Sara treated her like her own, making me feel so at ease and letting me enjoy my vacation without worrying about her. On top of that, she left my apartment just as clean as I left it. I will definitely be using Sara in the future and am so relieved to have found someone I can trust! Could not recommend Sara more.

We'd give 10 stars if that was an option. Alitha did everything we discussed and more. She took care of our Golden Retriever and cat and stayed in our home with them for 10 days. Her daily texts and pictures showed that the animals were happy and well-cared for. It was obvious that she was not only caring for them, but really spending time with them as her messages were always specific to the personalities and actions of each of them. Our dog takes medication daily, and we had complete confidence in Alitha. When we returned, the animals were calm and happy and the house was spotless. We plan to rebook Alitha again and again. The highest of recommendations to this fabulous, sweet, intelligent sitter.

About: Currently, I have 2 cats - Polka and Gray that I live with and my mom’s dog, Taco. I am great with all animals and specialize in gentle, quiet environments. I am very patient, kind, caring and I make sure that the animals feel comfortable before I interact with them. On the days that I am available, I am very flexible! I will be sure to provide the time and attention they need. Currently, I am available on certain days in the area. I will be very responsive and read all instructions very carefully. I will also be very respectful of neighbors and surrounding areas / animals. I make sure to properly follow the directions to any animals that need my care. I know safety is number 1 priority. I will be attentive and cautious first, providing the care the animals need second. Proper food access and nourishment followed by play is very important.

Gigi is kind, respectful, tidy and great with my pets. I have three of them which can be a handful to look after but she did a great job at looking after them while I was on a business trip. They all seemed to like her, and when I returned she kept my place very tidy and clean. I will arrange a weekly walking service with her in the future so the puppy can let out energy throughout the day. It was a pleasure working with her!

About: Dog owners will be especially satisfied with the services I provide because I have skillfully and diligently learned how to understand and absolutely adore dogs. My experience comes from years freelance dog walking (and when I could I'd sit) for neighbors and teachers I went to high school with. I was taught by my teachers even outside of school about dogs and how to be a dog person. They even helped me with training my own. I have owed and cared for American Pit Bulls(owned), Chow Chows, Yorkshire Terriers, Shih Tzuz, Maltese Pups(Owned), Golden Retrievers and Bolognoses. My pet care services include Walking, (which I love most in this season when physical play is at its high for me.) Drop ins, Training and Grooming(for an additional fee). I have took Dog Obidience Classes at Petco in the Bronx NY 2012 and 2015 which was recommend by one of my clients I worked with back in 2012. I watch tons of educational videos about the psychology of dogs on my free time and I am actively always searching for ways to enhance my skills in dealing with dogs and cats alike. I am very responsible and have worked with many high profile professionals who have have been in need of a reliable person to act as an assistant. (Via TaskRabbit) From first meeting my clients, they will naturally sense my honest and loyal personality. (Just like a puppy :) - you pups best friend

She kept me updated throughout the day of cute photos and was a clear and conscientious communicator, which gave me huge peace of mind when I was away. About: I have always been an animal lover. I believe all animals deserve respect including the smallest mice. I have 10 years of experience with dogs and cats and i’m looking to make it more! What makes me stand out is I genuinely bond quickly with even the grumpiest dog. Yes, even pugs I’m currently a stay at home mom looking to bring in some extra money for our family so I can go to school for interior design. At the moment I have an open schedule specifically for mornings, afternoons. I can work with evenings and nights as well if you let me know in advanced. Although I live in a pet friendly apartment complex, we have a giant park and dog park right next to us. Dogs deserve to have outside time and explore just as much as we do.

Robin has been an amazaaaazing cat sitter! She took wonderful care of our cat, Everest, during a 15-day house-sitting stay and really adjusted to her needs and personality. She gave her lots of attention, petted and brushed her, played with her, and made sure she was happy and comfortable at all times. She also sent us pictures and updates every single day, which we really appreciated. We felt completely at ease knowing Everest was in such good hands. We couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter and would absolutely recommend Robin! 100% commited and reliable.

Genesis was an amazing dog sitter for our 2 year old Goldendoodle. Kaiya has a ton of energy so we need her to go on multiple walks a day or to the park. Genesis sent tons of pictures on their walks and hilarious ones at night with Kaiya completely exhausted snuggled up by her. She also went above and beyond cleaning the guest sheets she used!! It’s was the added stress of cleaning everything completely taken off my shoulders. It’s been tough finding great dog sitters in the city but will definitely be booking her again.

Dayshalis was wonderful with our cats, and a great comfort to know they were in good hands while we were out of town. This was our first time using Rover, so I was a little nervous at first, but Dayshalis made me feel very comfortable right away with how responsive, kind, thoughtful, and respectful she was. She was curious about both our cats, learning their personalities and how to best engage them and give them each what they needed. Dayshalis sent us many photos while we were gone, which were really appreciated, and I could see in the photos that the cats were not only at ease and calm, but enjoying themselves and the interactions they were having with Dayshalis. When we got home, the cats weren’t at all upset that we had been gone, as they sometimes have been with other cat sitters. We really appreciate the care Dayshalis took, and highly recommend her as an excellent pet sitter. Thanks Dayshalis!

FAQs for House Sitting - Cliffside Park

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Cliffside Park on Rover is $73.82 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 19,246 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cliffside Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cliffside Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cliffside Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cliffside Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cliffside Park. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
