“Bryant was excellent with my senior dog. He was incredibly experienced in terms of my dog’s specific needs, including diaper changes and being mindful of her dementia traits. He was also very communicative and offered multiple updates throughout the day.”

“Diana does really well with my dog who is very anxious about meeting new people. She keeps me informed about everything my dog does and takes great pictures of my dog. She is very good at taking instructions and takes great care of my dog.”

“Monique stayed with my Shih Tzu Misty while I was on a business trip. Misty was well cared for! Monique shared updates each day and photos. Also left my apartment in immaculate condition! Highly recommend!”

“Absolutely awesome! Great communication and was very understanding with my dog that has some unique quirks. I came back to an apartment that was as clean or better than I left it after Emily has watched Benji overnight for 6 days. 10/10 would recommend Emily!”

“Asel is fantastic!!! I left my rambunctious golden retriever with her for 8 days at my house and she took phenomenal care of him. She kept me updated throughout the day of cute photos and was a clear and conscientious communicator, which gave me huge peace of mind when I was away. She also was willing to come meet with us before the actual trip to get to know Theo and he took to her immediately. I’ll definitely be using her services again!!”
“Genesis was amazing!! She kept me up to date with cute pictures and took such good care of my dog, giving her so much love and attention! I can’t recommend her enough!!”

About: I’ve been taking care of my dog since she was a tiny puppy, and I treat her like my own little child. I do the same for other people’s pets too - I love to give them food, give them some cuddles, and make sure they’re happy. And always remember to give your furry friend a special treat! As a remote worker, I find flexibility in my work schedule. I enjoy incorporating outdoor walks into my daily routine, which allows me to connect with nature and exercise while having the flexibility to do so with my dog. Through play, companionship, and nourishment. Will stay by the dog and keep the place organized and clean so it is a fair space for the house and the dogs

“Stav did a wonderful job! We were so appreciative that our Aretha received so many nice long walks in the park (more than we ordinarily do!). Aretha was well taken care of and we came home to a clean apartment! Such peace of mind is everything! Thank you, Stav!”
“Adeib was a great dog sitter! He stayed in my apartment and cared for my dog very well, following all instructions and communicating all throughout the stay. He welcomed my overly detailed instructions and sent pictures to updated me. I felt so confident that my dog was well cared for and would absolutely book him again!”

About: Hi! I’m Reese. As a Shiba Inu & Poodle-mix parent myself, I absolutely adore meeting and caring for dogs & cats from all walks of life. I am a recent Music Theatre graduate of Oberlin College, and am saving up for my post-undergraduate apartment in NYC. I was raised around many animals (dogs, cats, fish, you name it!) and come from a child caretaker background. I am red-cross certified, and believe that our pets should be treated just as attentively as our children. Above all, I am invested in the safety and happiness of your furry friend! ❤️ I am currently working part-time as a retail employee, and am also in the cast of a current Off-Broadway musical! Because of the nature of my profession, work is not always the most steady, and caregiving has given me a way of supporting myself by supporting your most loved, furry friends. I am always one to work around any Pet-Parent’s needs! I am well versed with puppy-care and senior-care, as I know they often require more attention. Any and all instructions are thoroughly read and followed, including mealtimes, walk tendencies, medications, or favorite toys. I am a big proprietor of open and consistent communication while you are away to keep your mind at ease!

“Patty was an excellent sitter! She watched my dog for a long weekend and he clearly loved her. She also sent photos throughout, which I love to receive as a pet parent. My apartment was well cared for too. I highly recommend her!”

“I booked a date with Esther and Jay so we could meet each other. I also thought it would give my cat an opportunity to become familiar with them. They arrived exactly on day and time we planned. Esther and Jay are warm and friendly and I found them a joy to have in my home. They asked good questions and I knew they would be wonderful caretakers for my cat. Now if I have to travel, I know my cat and my home will be well looked after.”

“Emoni was a delight! I communicated my concerns in advance about lots of communication and receiving pictures while I was away and she went above and beyond. I got lots of sweet updates which put me at ease. She took really good care of our apartment too. I came home to a cleaner home that when I'd left. I would highly recommend Emoni for any dog sitting or walking needs.”

“Cameron was the first over night sitter I’ve gotten for my kitten, Ziggy. It couldn’t have been any better!! She was kind, communicative, sent photo updates and made me feel at ease. I also came home to a pristine house after a weekend of travel and that was so lovely!! I couldn’t recommend her enough.”

“Arin was so sweet and attentive to Aloo while I was away for a 4 day trip. She stayed in my home and kept it tidy and was very communicative with updates on Aloo throughout the sitting. I had mentioned Aloo is a rescue and is anxious and reactive and Arin reassured me that she would be careful with her walks and general care. Arin has experience with and training rescue dogs as well which was so reassuring. When I came back home Aloo felt calmer and was actually less reactive than she usually is which says a lot about Arin! Would definitely book with her in the future.”

“Drew is our go to for walks and anytime we leave town. We have been repeat clients for probably a little over 2 years, maybe longer. We have one 16 yo who requires a fair amount of attention and meds. Then we have a 11 yo with 3 legs who is very leash reactive. He takes great care of them and makes sure everyone is comfortable and medicated.”
“Shariana came to the rescue last minute when our previous sitter had an emergency and couldn't watch over our pup and she was incredibly communicative in coordinating the booking under such a time crunch. As for the care, she was incredibly loving to our dog during the sitting experience and sent us consistent text/photo updates while we were away, which was all much appreciated! We're definitely planning on using her again and would recommend her to any/everyone!”

Marine was absolutely amazing! We left our dog with her for an entire week, and she was incredibly professional from start to finish. She sent us daily updates with photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Our dog has some medical issues and can be a bit challenging, but Marine was extremely careful and precise with his medications and took excellent care of him. When we returned, our house was spotless, and it was clear that our dog had been well cared for and loved. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Marie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, reliable, and caring dog sitter. Thank you, Marine!
Yeisha stayed at my apartment for a week while I was abroad and took great care of my Frenchie. She sent daily pictures, followed all instructions and was always quick to respond. She left my apartment clean and Millie enjoyed her time with her. Would definitely book again!

This was my first time using Noelle to watch both my epileptic cat and my new kitten, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She stayed at my house for the weekend since my cat, RAMMY, needs medication three times a day. Before my trip, Noelle came over so we could go through everything together, including RAMMY’s medication routine. As a self-proclaimed paranoid cat mom, I told her I really appreciate updates, especially since it’s so important that RAMMY gets his medicine on time. She went above and beyond by letting me know every time he received his medication, along with sending pictures and little updates throughout the weekend so I knew both cats were doing well. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing they were in such caring hands. I would absolutely recommend Noelle to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and compassionate pet sitter, and I’m so grateful for all of her help!

Iris was an absolutely incredible sitter for our dog Ollie. Ollie loved her right away! She was so communicative during her stay at our apartment with Ollie and sent pics and updates throughout the day that let me know Ollie was doing great and in good hands. She left the apartment cleaner than when she arrived! It was so clear that Iris gave Ollie so much love and took such great care of him!

Summer was TRULY phenomenal. Our pups loved her from the start, and my wife and I were close behind! Summer was so professional, communicative, punctual, and thorough when taking care of our pups AND our apartment. We will EASILY be using Summer in the future. No notes. She was exceptional.

Joseph was super sweet, my girls who have the most separation anxiety from me were so well cared for, they were a little skeptical at first, debut shortly after, the pictures spoke for themselves…my girls were cuddled up in his lap, and happy as can be! He also sat on 4th of July and my girls were not a fan of fireworks, and he was so kind and caring, ensuring that they were comforted and cared for! We’ll definitely have Joseph watch my girls again soon!!!

This is my second time working with Clifmon– he stayed with my cat over the 4th of July weekend and took great care of her. I even reached out to him with a same-day request to see if he could stay with her an additional night and he accommodated that very graciously. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a responsible, communicative, and caring companion for their pet!

Megan is awesome! She was accommodating, flexible, punctual, responsible, and warm. She took great care of my mini poodle and my apartment. She is polite. She followed all my instructions. She stayed in close communication, and sent me great photos while I was away. I will definitely call upon her again. And most importantly, my dog loved Megan!

As of August 2026, there are 19,168 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fort Lee. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Lee walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Lee maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Lee choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
