About: Hello! My name is Melissa. I am a lover of all animals and am hoping to add your furry family member to the list of pets that I’ve had the honor of meeting. I have grown up around cats and dogs my whole life and took this one step further by adopting my own kitty, Leo, after moving out of my parents house. He is basically my child and my philosophy with pet sitting is to provide the same care to your pet as I would for him. I have further experience with dogs as during college, I spent three years as a club member for a club that raised service dogs in training. My role in this club was being a sitter, meaning I would watch the pups (ranging from 10 weeks to 2 years old) while their raisers were away. I would spend this time practicing commands with them, walking them or taking them on playdates with other pups in the programs, or snuggle with them at my apartment. These times were some of my best memories of college. I also still help my parents when I go home to visit with my childhood dog, Charlotte. She is 15 years old, partially blind and deaf, and requires multiple oral medications daily as well as numerous potty breaks. I have additional oral/eye/ear medication experience as well as general medical knowledge through my day job as a pediatric nurse. Another cool fact is that during college, I briefly volunteered at a wild life refugee and got experience with horses, raccoons, deer, and other cool animals. Like I said- I’m a lover of all animals. I am hoping to offer my services as a way to be around more animals while respecting my cats’ wishes to not have another in the house. I would love to provide any additional details needed :) I will be working full time as a nurse but given that I only work 3 days a week I will have a lot of availability. The days I work do change each week but I will know in advance what days I will be working. I will do my best to earn an animal’s trust in a way that makes them comfortable, so that they feel safe in their own environment and trust me while I’m around. Whether that means an animal warms up to me right away or needs awhile along with some space before I come close to them, I can adapt to either scenario. I would also like to know about any general hiding places the animal may have when they get anxious so that if I am having trouble finding them, I know where to look. This would all be stuff I would like to communicate about with the owner ahead of time so I feel confident while sitting for their pet.

About: I've taken care of all kinds of animals for my whole life and professionally for 15+ years. I'm comfortable caring for dogs and cats that are senior, young, need medication administered, as well as large and small breeds. I've had all kinds of pets in my life including small+ large dogs, cats, reptiles, birds and rodents. I specialize in caring for high energy and anxious dogs. Most recently I've professionally cared for chickens and goats and find lots of similarities between goats and playful dogs. I approach all animals with love, respect and dignified care. I currently have one cat and one dog. I know how stressful it can feel leaving your pet with someone new. You can expect clear communication, timely updates and plenty of photos so you never have to worry about how your animals are doing while in my care. I'm currently home full time and am available for drop ins and walks as needed! I'm also very flexible and am available to accept last minute bookings. I'm based in Jersey City and can walk, drive or take public transit to come take care of your sweet critter(s)! I'm very safety oriented and will care for your animals as if they were my own. I am very careful about the toys, food and objects that your animal has access to. I like to meet the animal and family beforehand to establish trust, ensure safe interaction and overall good fit! I also will ask if there is anything I need to know about the animals behavior or special needs to ensure I am meeting all their needs.

Besides having pets growing up I was the only child. So I fully understand the value of a pet as a member of the family. I'm a full time pet care provider but more over we're a family owned business. So we provide pet care in McGinley Square and in Society Hill. Essentially we walk, board, pet visit, and doggy daycare all week. Plus on holidays. “Kathleen was a great walker for my pup!! She helped me with 2 walks for my dog on a day I had to go into my office. I really appreciated her communication around both walks. We even had some problems with the door codes I created for her to get into my building not working and she was super understanding and flexible to work around the issue. She asked questions to make sure my dog would be comfortable and taken care of and delivered on everything! She is so nice she even replaced the poop bag with my backup role because it ran out on the second walk. Will definitely book again!!!!”

About: I have always been around cats and dogs my whole life and have taken care of both before. I love being able to bond with a pet! Hi there! I am based in Jersey City, NJ, and work 9:30AM-6PM, M-F. I am in-office in NYC every Wednesday, and sometimes Thursdays too! I am available on weekends- time doesn't really matter for me unless I have something planned but letting me know ahead of time works best! I'm originally from VA and with my cat back home, I always make sure he's fed with a clean box. Always tons of pets ready for him when he isn't asleep and treats & toys that he loves.
