“Bree was amazing with Ludo and Bowie! Super communicative and sent lots of pictures while we were away for a long weekend. Left the house spotless and even ran the laundry. The pups obviously enjoyed their time and perked up when I mentioned Bree's name. Thank you! Will absolutely book again.”

“Lifu took such good care of Tater, ensuring he was well taken care of and comfortable. I will absolutely be having her walk and stay with him again. Very grateful for her competence and kindness.”

“Priyanka was amazing with my dog. She followed all the instructions I left her, asked to do a meet and greet, and asked questions about my dog too. I got updates and pictures. I would book her again!!”

“Marlita was absolutely amazing! She was kind enough to meet Lou ahead of time, and listen to all my crazy cat mom instructions, haha. She was SO communicative during my trip and sent me so many pictures and videos! It really reassured me; leaving Lou at home during my trip was my biggest worry and having such an amazing caregiver for him took a huge weight off my shoulders. She's definitely his permanent babysitter now, haha. She cares so much for animals and you can tell she truly enjoys being with them. ?”

“Alison has taken care of my 3 dogs overnight a few times now. They’re a lot and she does great! I come home and my dogs are happy and clearly have been loved while I’m out. She also handles one of my dogs eye medications for which I am very grateful!”
“Jade was our Superwoman to our 2 energy and overly needy (in affection) pitbulls. They had a great time with her, including many walks, lots of naps. Jade was professional, confident, capable and kept us amused with photos and videos. We will be contacting her again! Thanks Jade!!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats for my friends and family and love to play, walk, feed or just hang out with them! I used to dog walk every week at a shelter growing up and had fun taking dogs of all size! I am currently in-between jobs so I’ll have plenty of time to take care of your pets. I can be a sitter in your house if you need someone to feed and play with them or I can take them out on walks. My cat back home is super needy and always needs pets so I’m used to giving lots of love. I always attend to her needs and will do the same with your pets!
About: Hi, I’m Jun! I’ve cared for pets from quick drop-in visits to living in a friend’s home for over a year as a “temporary cat mom.” I treat every pet like my own—keeping their routine exactly the same, making sure they feel safe and loved, and sending lots of updates so you never feel far away. I’m experienced with cats (including vet visits, meds, and emergencies) and have also cared for dogs with feeding and walks. Whether it’s cuddles on the couch or long walks in the park, your pets will get my full attention, gentle care, and plenty of affection while you’re away. 🐾 I’m a hybrid-working designer, so I can fit in weekday visits for pets I already know well. For new furry friends, I like to start on weekends—this way, they have more time and space to feel comfortable with me, and I can get to know their personality at a relaxed pace. I’ve found this makes our first meeting happier and less stressful for everyone. I'm always happy to discuss you and your pet's unique needs in advance! and I provide only the level of care and attention that I would want for my own pets. I live in a spacious apartment by my own in Jersey City. I can also go to client’s home to visit daily if the cat preferred to be at his/ her own home.
“Joni took fantastic care of my shy foster Millie and has been incredibly accommodating with my last minute request. Even managed to plan for a meet and greet which absolutely helped Millie feel comfortable the next day for the actual sit. Joni sent many pictures and updats and my mind was completely at peace knowing Millie was in her gentle care. Joni also was very thorough with Millie’s schedule and routine, perfectly punctual, and very respectful of the house, leaving no trace behind! Thank you Joni!”

About: Hello, I’m a 27 year old who has loved animals their entire life. Currently I don’t have any pets but while I was younger my family always had animals in the house. I’ve had the pleasure of growing up around dogs and cats. When I moved away from home I started pet sitting for family friends and neighbors. I have pet sat cats, dogs, even a parrot and a snake. I love caring for other people's pets and understand the love and care that is expected when taking on this job. Caring for animals is one of my favorite past times. I currently freelance so my availably is extremely open. That also means your pet will get my full attention for any care they need. I work from home so I will have ample time to care for the pets. I also live walking distance from a park so walks will not be a problem. I don't currently have pets but the way I would care for pets in my home is by paying as much attention as I can to them. Making sure they are well fed, comfortable and relaxed.
“Ceecee was amazing! She was able to accommodate us extremely last minute to home sit our senior dog. She took great care of our dog and was able to keep up with all his medications. Our apartment was in phenomenal condition when we returned. We will not hesitate to book Ceecee again.”

“Jose took care of my dog, Yogi, for three days and stayed at my home while I was away. He was very responsive throughout the entire stay and consistently kept me updated with photos and messages from Yogi’s morning and evening walks. It gave me a lot of peace of mind knowing Yogi was being well cared for. Everything went smoothly, and Yogi was happy and comfortable when I returned. I really appreciated Jose’s communication, reliability, and attention to detail. I would absolutely book him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter.”

“Jay is the best. My Thunder who is a 75lb American Pitbull loves him and for anyone with this breed that once they trust you there is no such thing as personal space. This breed gets a bad reputation but they are cuddle buddies. Book him now and often you will not regret it!”

“We have had many pet sitters over the years, and Nima stands out as one of the best. She is very friendly, considerate, and kind, both with us and with our puppy, Olivia. Nima sent us daily photos and videos with a quick update on how everything was going. Olivia is a very picky eater, but somehow Nima got her to eat every meal! Nima left our house clean and tidy. She was on time and communicative about arrival & departure and about when she needed to leave the house while caring for Olivia. I highly recommend her for pop-in visits with your pet or overnight stays.”

“This was our first time using Brad to sit at our house with our dog, Winni. Everything went smoothly. He gave us an update every day and sent pictures. The first night he was at our house, our power went out!!!Brad was very capable and calm and assured us that it was no problem. We would definitely use Brad again.”

“Temi was quickly responsive and was able to help watch my dogs when my last minute trip came up. Thank you so much! He does an amazing job caring for my babies and sending me updates about them. You will not regret booking him to watch your fur babies!”
“Gabby stayed with our 15 year old, newly diagnosed as diabetic, cat hunter for 4 days. She made sure he received all of his meds, including insulin injections, as instructed. Gabby sent photos and text updates throughout each day. Additionally, she took Hunter to the vet twice to receive his scheduled fluid treatments and made sure his litter box was cleaned daily. We arrived home to a clean house & a happy Hunter. Gabby is very personable, timely & a pleasure to know. I highly recommend Gabby as a responsible, professional & caring pet sitter.”

Yari was so great with my dogs, it was great to have someone who knew beagles super well since we have an anxious boy! It gave me a lot of peace of mind to have her check on them while I was away, and she was a joy to work with :) Will most definitely book again in the future!

Joni was amazing! Followed my instructions to a T, sent plenty of photos and updates. Even offered to water my garden during a heat wave! Came home to two happy and well loved animals, a clean house, and some lovely fresh flowers placed in water. Can’t recommend Joni enough.

Truly the best sitter! Sent us updates and many pictures of our pup throughout our trip which we loved. She also took him to the dog park on our property twice a day so he had the time of his life. Could not have asked for a better person to take care of our little guy. She’s also incredibly sweet and respectful. Can’t recommend her enough!

Jin is truly one in a million. We have two older dogs, and one of them unexpectedly became the most ill she has ever been while Jin was dogsitting them. Jin took her to the emergency vet and was up at night taking care of her, going above and beyond what I ever could have asked for. When my other dog contracted the bug from our first dog, Jin was quick to attend to her too. She was communicative, compassionate, and so incredibly attentive. She truly cared for them like they were her own! I really can’t say enough about how wonderful Jin is, how grateful I am that she was there for our pups, and would recommend her to anyone who wants the best possible care for their pets and peace of mind.

Darrin was great taking care of my two boys at my home for a weekend trip I had planned. He provided frequent updates and pictures and was even able to accommodate beyond the originally scheduled trip if needed due to weather travel disruptions. 10/10 would recommend and would happily use him again if ever needed! Thanks again from me and the boys!

Khoula (Jeremy’s wife) is great!!! Milo adores her and he’s always so happy after he’s spent time with her. she sends lovely little updates of our pup! She’s flexible and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend her and am always going to come back :) 13/10!!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Harrison walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Harrison maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Harrison choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Harrison. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
