Paul can care for
Availability
I'm a remote worker, so I'm available to care for your pet full-time and overnight in your home. I do not double book and I don't plan social commitments while on the job. I own my schedule and can move things around at a moment's notice. I usually wake up 5 am. And go to bed 10 pm. TO NEW CLIENTS: I only accept bookings that are minimum 2 nights or 48 hours. Please don't request one night or day visits. Only submit a booking request when your need is definite—my availability isn’t for backup plans. Then we can proceed with a 30 min Meet & Greet to see if we're a good fit.

About Paul R.
Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
I care for pets by providing their basic needs—food, exercise & play, bonding, safety—while maintaining their daily routine. I make sure they receive the same emotional support as they get from their owner. CONSISTENCY is the key to building trust; routines are important in my own life. So while you're away from your home, I'll maintain the consistency to minimize the change your pet will inevitably experience from your absence.
Information Paul R. would like to know about your pet
Let me know ahead of time if your animal has any allergies, medical concerns, disabilities, dietary restrictions, and/or routines & rituals that are atypical of other pets. I can modify my personal daily routine accordingly.
A typical day
I love going on long walks through the city. On weekends, my urban hikes often last a couple hours; it's a form of endurance exercise for myself and the pet. I also enjoy playing catch and visiting dog parks, if permitted. As far as cats go, I'm open to any kind of play as long as the cat is in the mood or receptive to play. I follow the cat's lead.

Flexible Schedule, Former Pet Dad
Pet care experience
Hey there! My name is Paul and I'm 37 years old. I currently live in NYC—originally from San Francisco and Boston, where I have house- and pet-sat for the past 6 years. I used the Rover app as both a former pet owner and sitter. In 2017, my dog Ziggy (Chihuahua-Jack Russell Terrier Mix) passed away from health complications. I miss him very much. I adopted him at the mature puppy age of 2 years through San Francisco's ASPCA. He was a great companion during my bouts of depression & anxiety. Although I'm not in a place to own an animal at the moment, house- and pet-sitting is a service I graciously provide for my clients' peace of mind and the added benefit to my mental health. I'm a GoodPup Certified Dog Trainer (GCT), an accredited certification that requires successful completion of a 90-day course, a written final exam, and training demonstration assessment. I'm also CPR/First Aid certified via the American Red Cross—Certificate ID: 0244CKR, exp. 11/8/27.
Reviews

Paul was AMAZING with our dog. He can be challenging with people he doesn’t strongly trust but immediately was on board with Paul. I would highly recommend him!

Paul was great. He communicates early and often, is on time, and very professional. Since he’s a dog trainer he got accustomed to Chias ways very quickly. He was diligent and persistent in walking the dog the extra length to ensure she had a chance to do her business. He played with her while at home and kept her active company. I would rehire Paul’s service without a doubt

Paul was awesome and our dog Patch had a great time with him. He kept us updated with cute pictures. I also appreciated how organized he was, he made sure he knew everything about Patch's routine. I would definitely recommend Paul to other dog owners.

Paul was amazing! He watched my two dogs for several days while we were out of town visiting family. One of my dogs (older Labrador) has various issues (needs meds, has walking reactivity, various anxieties) and Paul was great with him. I really appreciated how organized and communicative he is throughout both the booking process and the sitting. Highly recommend and will definitely rebook next time we travel.
