“Johnna took such great care of Luna. I felt completely comfortable knowing she was in good hands. We received pictures and updates that kept us feeling confident in her care. Thank you Johnna!”

“We had a fantastic experience with Alexis and her family. Bonnie loved spending the day playing with the kids and other dogs. Communication with Alexis was also great - we’d happily book again!”

“We are so grateful Derek, Leslie and their family help look after our sweet fur babies when we are away. The Pitadors are always excited when they know they are going to these wonderful Rover sitter’s home and always come back to our home tuckered out from all the play, love and attention they’ve gotten!”
About: I've had pet dogs my entire life, but as an adult I've personally adopted 2 dogs and a cat of my own. I have cared for pets at every stage of their life. I'm a freelance digital artist so my availability is open. I don't do artwork outside of my home, however. If I'm working for you that has my full attention. In my home I have a pool. My pug can swim but I'm still always outside when she is. Im very attentive when I take on responsibilities. My house is spacious and we are open to crating. Our pets sleep inside with us.
“My girl gets so excited as soon as I drive up to Lucas's house. So, there's no doubt she is quite happy with Lucas and his dog Ferguson. He even walks her, with his dog, if I arrive early!!! That's a bonus because not everyone will include a walk in their daycare.”

About: Having been through some pretty big life changes recently, I’m reminded to slow down and focus on things that make me happy. One thing that makes me happy is dogs. I’ve also wanted to get out and take more walks, so what better way to enjoy both than dog walking. I’ve had pets of all types all my life, but dogs are hands down my favorite. I currently have two of my own and occasionally watch my friends’ dogs. A friend of mine uses Rover, and I’ve been a pet sitter since I was a teen, so I thought I’d give it a try. I have taken a few training classes when my dog was a puppy and I have some experience with special needs (seniors, blindness, low mobility, and seizures). I work full time, but telework three days a week. For midday visits and dog walks, someone close to home would be best to ensure availability. We can always discuss evening visits or walks as well. For boarding, unless discussed and scheduled prior, weekends would best to ensure I can be home with your fur babe. I treat visiting pups like my own. They’re allowed on my furniture and in my bed. I have multiple crates of various sizes if a crate is needed. My yard is fenced, but dogs aren’t typically left unattended in the yard. I have seven free range chickens in my yard, so their safety is also a concern for me. I’m also open to discussion if your dogs’ needs don’t align with my typical routine; I don’t mind changing things up if it’s something I can accommodate.
“I can't recommend Darlene enough as a pet sitter! She took care of my dog Unagi while I was away and did an outstanding job. Darlene kept me updated throughout the day with texts and photos, which gave me peace of mind knowing that Unagi was well taken care of. She was incredibly communicative, kind, and attentive to Unagi's needs. I could tell that she genuinely cares for animals and treated Unagi like her own. I will definitely be reaching out to Darlene again the next time I need a pet sitter. Thank you so much, Darlene!”

“Julie has been absolutely wonderful! She has been very flexible, kind and sends lots of photos of my pups. She always has lots of playmates for my two dogs and they always come home looking like they had a blast and ready for a nap. I couldn't recommend Julie enough.”

“So grateful for Lucy taking on my pups so last minute. She asked lots for great questions before committing and we were able to set everything up very smoothly. The dogs did great under her care and communication was flawless throughoutthe day while they were with her. Will definitely book with Lucy again in the future and happy to find someone close by who is a safe and reliable choice for my babies.”

About: I have owned dogs my whole life, mostly rescued all of my dogs. I have volunteered for dog and cat rescues including Rocket Dog Rescue in San Francisco. I volunteered for SPCA for over 10 years. I also have fostered many dogs and volunteered for dog shelters to be able to walk dogs. I started walking dogs in college over 20 years ago on the side. I have worked for Honeys Heart in San Francisco where I helped with boarding, training, cleaning and feeding dogs as well as taking care and walking dogs. Of course tons of belly rubs and play time! I have fostered puppies as well as adult seniors. Some dogs I fostered for weeks to months until I found a loving home. I absolutely love and care for animals and I’m always excited to be part of their lives. I I feel that all animals need to have unconditional love and care and complete trust and respect. “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened”- Anatole. I am open to any schedule full-time Monday through Sunday. AM/PM I have complete open availability to care to your fur baby. I can do multiple walks a day or take your dog to my local dog park. I have a fenced yard and a small friendly dog in a tucked away, safe neighborhood in fair Oaks. I can do daily walks as well as crate train. I give all of my attention and care and can cater to every and any need.

I work full-time during the day, but I’m looking to make some extra cash on the side—and what better way than spending time with dogs, while exercising and getting some fresh air? Although I don’t have a pup of my own (yet!), I treat every dog I care for like they’re part of my family. Whether your dog needs a quick walk, some playtime, or a little TLC while you’re away, I’ve got you covered. I’m happy to work with dogs of all sizes and personalities, and I’ll make sure your furry friend feels safe, loved, and well taken care of! I currently have a full-time career. I’m just looking to earn extra cash on the weekends and evenings. I can also dog sit during the work week because I work from home. I listen to the exact instructions that are given to me by the pet owner, along with my natural nurturing instincts, and my common sense.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats of all ages and sizes my whole life. I truly love anyone’s animal like my own because I know what it’s like to worry about your pet when they are away. When they’re hanging out with me, you can expect lots of pictures, games of fetch in the backyard, and as many snuggles as possible. I prioritize the owners peace of mind. I have experience administering daily medications, with some pets being on multiple medications at different times of day. Rest assured, your pet will a place to call their second home when staying with me. I am home full time, your pet will experience my full attention all day. I prioritize a daily routine in my own life, and work hard to make sure your pet stays in theirs as well. About: About Me Looking for a stress-free alternative to crowded kennels or chaotic multi-dog homes? Welcome to a premium, boutique pet-sitting experience. I cater exclusively to families who want undivided, 1-on-1 attention for their furry family member. When your dog stays with me, they are the only guest pet in my home. Because I do not offer high-volume daycare services, your dog receives my full, uninterrupted presence, love, and supervision. ________________________________________ ✨ Why Premium Owners Choose My Care • Total Exclusivity: No other guest dogs, no pack dynamics, and zero socialization stress. • Constant Companionship: My day revolves entirely around your dog’s established routine. • Tailored For Every Personality: Ideal for dogs who prefer 1-on-1 human companionship, anxious pups, and senior dogs needing gentle care. • Proven Track Record: Trusted by a loyal community of local repeat clients with a consistent history of 5-star care. My days are structured around your dogs regular schedule. While in my care I accept no outside commitments or drop-in visitors. Dogs are in my company throughout the day and rarely out of eyesight. For long-term visitors, I may run errands for no longer than 1 hour. My home is a quiet, soothing, and comfortable place as their home away from home. We interact with toys, puzzles and play; they can enjoy a lick mat if their diet permits, or rest wherever they feel most comfortable: in my lap, on the couch, or the cool floor. Some dogs enjoy the patio where they can watch squirrels and hummingbirds or just soak up the sunshine. Outdoors, our 15-acre park allows your dogs the privacy to comfortably explore and exercise without the anxiety of interacting with other, unknown dogs. My 20'-45' leashes give active dogs the freedom to play Chuck-It or Frisbee.
About: Hi! I’m a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo studying Nutrition, and I’m focusing on pet care this summer. I’ve been caring for animals for over 10 years, including dogs, cats, and reptiles, and it’s something I genuinely enjoy. I’m comfortable with pets of all ages and personalities, from energetic puppies who need lots of attention and exercise to senior pets who need a little extra patience and care. I’m also very detail-oriented and great at sticking to routines, so I’ll make sure your pet gets the care they’re used to while you’re away. Whether I’m taking your dog for a walk, stopping by for a visit, providing overnight care, or simply keeping your pet company, my goal is always to help them feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, so I make communication a priority and am happy to provide updates along the way. My number one goal is to give both you and your pet peace of mind. I’ll care for your pets as if they were my own, so you can feel confident they’re in good hands! I am very flexible and I am open to care on weekdays and weekends. I am usually available throughout the day, from mornings to late nights. My availability for care ends August 12th. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I pay close attention to their routines, behavior, and specific needs-especially during walks and daily care. With experience ranging from puppies to senior dogs, I adjust my approach to match each pet’s energy level and any special requirements. At home, I have a medium-sized senior dog named Amber who is very laid back and gets along well with other pets. When I care for animals in my home, I always do slow, careful introductions and prioritize safety and comfort. I make sure each pet has their own space and only allow interaction when both animals are fully comfortable.
“Ariana is very friendly and takes great care of my dog. I can tell that she is a "dog" person and that she knows what she is doing and really cares. It is a bonus that she does not over-charge for her services and offers the convenient pick up and drop off services. She takes several pictures and keeps me updated, which I appreciate.”

“Our dog Baxter hasn’t been to doggy day care for a couple of years, so he had extra anxiety on top of his normal separation anxiety. Cliff allowed us to meet up the day prior to ensure that Baxter would be comfortable in the environment, which included a cat. The visit was a success. Cliff had a room dedicated to the animals and a beautiful backyard with vibrant green grass, which Baxter loved. Cliff was very friendly and seemed like a natural with dogs. This made us feel good about leaving Baxter with him for doggy day care the next day. When we dropped Baxter off, he acted shy at first, hesitant to approach and sticking close to us, but he looked very happy at pick-up, wagging his tail and greeting us with excitement. Cliff sent a photo and update about Baxter's visit. Baxter usually needs several visits to trust new people. Cliff patiently gave him space as he introduced and welcomed him to the pack, making the experience feel calm and positive for Baxter. We highly recommend Cliff, and will be using his services in the future.”

“Kierstin is exemplary. She took thoughtful care of our Labs and was very flexible with our needs. I we highly recommend Kierstin. She will keep you informed throughout the pups time under her care. Thanks again!”

“Olesia was wonderful. We dropped off our dog for around 6 hours and she was very communicative. She sent lots of photos and our dog was very happy to stay with her. Would definitely use Olesia again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Fair Oaks
Lucas was amazing with my puppy, Nala! He was incredibly welcoming from the start and made sure she was comfortable and cared for the entire time she stayed with him and Ferguson. You can tell he genuinely loves dogs and pays attention to their individual needs. Nala came home happy, well cared for, and clearly had a great experience. I also appreciated the updates and the peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. I would absolutely trust Lucas again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter!

I absolutely recommend Derek and Leslie!! They are genuinely caring for the pets they watch! My 12 week old puppy, Maggie, felt right at home in their house. She was closely attended to, was safe and had lots of fun playing in their wonderful backyard. Several times through Maggie’s stay, they texted photos of Maggie running, playing, napping. Derek and Leslie are outstanding dog-sitters!

Sara and her family are so sweet and gave my dogs a lot of attention. She sent me pictures of her kids playing with my dogs and I could tell that they were having a good time. Her home is set up really well for my dogs with the backyard covered patio. My dogs are funny about going out in the rain and it was raining in the morning so her having a covered patio was really good for my dogs. I definitely recommend Sara!!!! I now have a new dog sitter with Sara.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
