“Johnna took such great care of Luna. I felt completely comfortable knowing she was in good hands. We received pictures and updates that kept us feeling confident in her care. Thank you Johnna!”

“We are so grateful Derek, Leslie and their family help look after our sweet fur babies when we are away. The Pitadors are always excited when they know they are going to these wonderful Rover sitter’s home and always come back to our home tuckered out from all the play, love and attention they’ve gotten!”
“Alexis and her family were amazing! Came in nervous to drop off our new puppy but they seem like genuine kind people who made us feel at ease. Our puppy seemed like she had lots of love and fun around her.”

“Our 1-year-old wheaten terrier enjoyed his time with Monica. He came home happy and ready to rest after a day of playing. Monica kept us updated on Chewys progress during the day and communicated well with us. I would definitely recommend Monica to care for your pup!”

About: I've had pet dogs my entire life, but as an adult I've personally adopted 2 dogs and a cat of my own. I have cared for pets at every stage of their life. I'm a freelance digital artist so my availability is open. I don't do artwork outside of my home, however. If I'm working for you that has my full attention. In my home I have a pool. My pug can swim but I'm still always outside when she is. Im very attentive when I take on responsibilities. My house is spacious and we are open to crating. Our pets sleep inside with us.
“My puppy was one of the pack by the end of the day, after playing with the chihuahua, and napping with the boxers. What a great day of camp while Inwas at work! Thank you, Julie and Sherry!”

“Lucas was great with Suki. His calm manner was helpful for her high energy puppy mode. He started the day with a walk with two other dogs and didn't freak when she jumped on him, staying calm and kind.”

About: Hi! We have two young boys (8 and 6), an amazing dog and three cats in our house. Our sons love, love, love dogs and would love to learn responsibility by helping us care for your pet. Our dog loves play dates and would love to have overnight guests as well. We live on half an acre with many opportunities for the animals to exercise. Let us be your pets next stay :) I work as a teacher, so I have summers off and am close enough I can stop by twice during the work day to let the animals use the restroom. My husband also works from home part of the week, so he’ll be home often for your pet! I have a fenced yard on half an acre. Your dog can spend as much or as little time outside as they would like! We will have the dogs indoors during the heat and will play outside during cooler weather.
About: Animals have been part of my life since I was an early adult, and caring and connecting with them comes naturally. As a wellness coach, husband and father of two, I’m big on structure, patience, and creating a calm, safe inviting environment for every dog I work with. I’m active outdoors, hiking, walking trails, and exploring around in the neighborhood, so your dog will get plenty of movement and attention. I will always adapt movement and attention needs to your liking. I’ve handled everything from high-energy pups to gentle senior dogs, and I’m confident with feeding routines, medication reminders, crate-training basics, and helping anxious dogs feel secure. I treat every pet like my own and keep owners updated with photos, check-ins, and clear communication so you always know your dog is in good hands. Whether your dog needs long walks, overnight care, or a dependable companion while you’re away, I bring consistency, kindness, and professional-level responsibility to every stay. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I work from home and set my own schedule. I’m already outdoors often, walking, working on the yard, biking, or taking my own dog out around the neighborhood or on the trails, so adding your pup into my day is a seamless fit. I’m available for boarding service either at my home or yours for 2-4 days during the week and weekend boarding requests as well. Your dog will always get consistent attention, movement, and care, never rushed or squeezed into a busy schedule. I provide a calm, structured environment that helps dogs feel comfortable the moment they arrive. My home in Fair Oaks has a large, fenced yard with plenty of safe space to explore. Outdoor time is always supervised, gates stay secured, and I keep clear routines for feeding, play, and rest so dogs settle in smoothly. We have two friendly dogs of our own, a Papillon and a Min Pin/Jack Russell mix, who enjoy having new companions around. They’re social, well-behaved, and help create an easygoing atmosphere for visiting pups. If a dog prefers their own space, I can separate areas to make sure everyone feels relaxed. For boarding in my home, I do require that dogs are potty trained. If you’re still working on potty training, I’m more than happy to support that process in your home. I’m also comfortable with crate routines, senior care, medication reminders, and maintaining whatever structure your dog is used to. As a father and longtime pet owner, safety and communication are top priorities, I send photo updates and check-ins so you always feel connected while you’re away.
“Ariana is very friendly and takes great care of my dog. I can tell that she is a "dog" person and that she knows what she is doing and really cares. It is a bonus that she does not over-charge for her services and offers the convenient pick up and drop off services. She takes several pictures and keeps me updated, which I appreciate.”

“Marianne was great. Easy to communicate with and responsive. Our pup was happy and worn out when we picked her up. Looking forward to leaving Winnie in her capable hands again!”

“I can't recommend Darlene enough as a pet sitter! She took care of my dog Unagi while I was away and did an outstanding job. Darlene kept me updated throughout the day with texts and photos, which gave me peace of mind knowing that Unagi was well taken care of. She was incredibly communicative, kind, and attentive to Unagi's needs. I could tell that she genuinely cares for animals and treated Unagi like her own. I will definitely be reaching out to Darlene again the next time I need a pet sitter. Thank you so much, Darlene!”

About: Having been through some pretty big life changes recently, I’m reminded to slow down and focus on things that make me happy. One thing that makes me happy is dogs. I’ve also wanted to get out and take more walks, so what better way to enjoy both than dog walking. I’ve had pets of all types all my life, but dogs are hands down my favorite. I currently have two of my own and occasionally watch my friends’ dogs. A friend of mine uses Rover, and I’ve been a pet sitter since I was a teen, so I thought I’d give it a try. I have taken a few training classes when my dog was a puppy and I have some experience with special needs (seniors, blindness, low mobility, and seizures). I work full time, but telework three days a week. For midday visits and dog walks, someone close to home would be best to ensure availability. We can always discuss evening visits or walks as well. For boarding, unless discussed and scheduled prior, weekends would best to ensure I can be home with your fur babe. I treat visiting pups like my own. They’re allowed on my furniture and in my bed. I have multiple crates of various sizes if a crate is needed. My yard is fenced, but dogs aren’t typically left unattended in the yard. I have seven free range chickens in my yard, so their safety is also a concern for me. I’m also open to discussion if your dogs’ needs don’t align with my typical routine; I don’t mind changing things up if it’s something I can accommodate.

About: About Me Looking for a stress-free alternative to crowded kennels or chaotic multi-dog homes? Welcome to a premium, boutique pet-sitting experience. I cater exclusively to families who want undivided, 1-on-1 attention for their furry family member. When your dog stays with me, they are the only guest pet in my home. Because I do not offer high-volume daycare services, your dog receives my full, uninterrupted presence, love, and supervision. ________________________________________ ✨ Why Premium Owners Choose My Care • Total Exclusivity: No other guest dogs, no pack dynamics, and zero socialization stress. • Constant Companionship: My day revolves entirely around your dog’s established routine. • Tailored For Every Personality: Ideal for dogs who prefer 1-on-1 human companionship, anxious pups, and senior dogs needing gentle care. • Proven Track Record: Trusted by a loyal community of local repeat clients with a consistent history of 5-star care. My days are structured around your dogs regular schedule. While in my care I accept no outside commitments or drop-in visitors. Dogs are in my company throughout the day and rarely out of eyesight. For long-term visitors, I may run errands for no longer than 1 hour. My home is a quiet, soothing, and comfortable place as their home away from home. We interact with toys, puzzles and play; they can enjoy a lick mat if their diet permits, or rest wherever they feel most comfortable: in my lap, on the couch, or the cool floor. Some dogs enjoy the patio where they can watch squirrels and hummingbirds or just soak up the sunshine. Outdoors, our 15-acre park allows your dogs the privacy to comfortably explore and exercise without the anxiety of interacting with other, unknown dogs. My 20'-45' leashes give active dogs the freedom to play Chuck-It or Frisbee.
“Today was the hardest day of my life. I dropped off Chef because my mother was sent home on hospice. While Chef was there, my mother passed. Travis was so supportive, sent lots of pictures, and loved him for the day! Chef had a great time!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Fair Oaks
Lucas was amazing with my puppy, Nala! He was incredibly welcoming from the start and made sure she was comfortable and cared for the entire time she stayed with him and Ferguson. You can tell he genuinely loves dogs and pays attention to their individual needs. Nala came home happy, well cared for, and clearly had a great experience. I also appreciated the updates and the peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. I would absolutely trust Lucas again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter!

I absolutely recommend Derek and Leslie!! They are genuinely caring for the pets they watch! My 12 week old puppy, Maggie, felt right at home in their house. She was closely attended to, was safe and had lots of fun playing in their wonderful backyard. Several times through Maggie’s stay, they texted photos of Maggie running, playing, napping. Derek and Leslie are outstanding dog-sitters!

Sara and her family are so sweet and gave my dogs a lot of attention. She sent me pictures of her kids playing with my dogs and I could tell that they were having a good time. Her home is set up really well for my dogs with the backyard covered patio. My dogs are funny about going out in the rain and it was raining in the morning so her having a covered patio was really good for my dogs. I definitely recommend Sara!!!! I now have a new dog sitter with Sara.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
