As a brand and marketing consultant, I work from home and can maintain a flexible schedule that meets your and your pet’s needs. I prefer walking dogs during cool morning or evening hours for their own health considerations. If walking during the heat of the day, I do require pet owners to provide their pet with safety shoes or have access to a non-concrete or asphalt walking route.

When boarding or pet-sitting in your home, your pet will have the company of my 13-year old female dog, Bonny, who is non-reactive to dogs and cats. For daily walks, your pet will be alone with me, unless we’ve discussed and agreed that having Bonny walk with them is your preference.

Information Johnna P. would like to know about your pet
I’m comfortable providing medication, feeding special diets, and regulating play and exercise to accommodate injuries or other conditions, but I can only do these if I’m aware of your pet’s situation. Does your pet love to cuddle, but hate to be brushed? Do they become a ball of mush around elderly people, but get their hackles up around kiddos? Do they love big dogs, but quake or lunge when a chihuahua or cat comes around the corner? Do they love belly scritches, but growl/hiss if any other body part is touched? It’s okay—I can work with this, as long as you tell me! It’s super important that you communicate your pet’s health issues, special needs, or unique behaviors, so that our time together can be thoroughly enjoyed by us both.
A typical day
Play and mental stimulation are important for a healthy, happy pet! I’ll always follow your instructions for structure, but ideally that will include time for both exercise and “exploration” (aka sniffer’s paradise) during walks, playtime (tugging, fetch, snuffle mats or seeking games), and snuggles (only if your pet enjoys it!). If it’s a longer visit, there’ll also be periods for settling and resting. I want your pet to be blissfully exhausted and thoroughly happy when you come back home!

Pet care experience
I’ve been a pet owner/carer since, well, birth. Growing up in a rural setting, I cared for dogs, cats, pigs, ducks, sheep, and even fostered a hawk! Friends and family have long called me the baby and dog whisperer, because not only do they gravitate to me, I’m a pro at getting them to rest and relax. I’m currently a dog mom to Bonny, the chillest 13-year old terrier/chihuahua mix that’s ever existed. 🐶 I’ve also owned highly reactive dogs and am skilled at keeping them safe and feeling secure. A former (human) first aid/CPR trainer, I’m currently enrolled to receive my pet first aid/CPR certification. **PLEASE NOTE: Bonny, will *always* be present during boarding and will need to accompany me for housesitting stays. She gets along well with (and mostly ignores) other dogs and cats, but we need to ensure it’s a good fit for all the fur kids! For this reason, I cannot book requests without a prior meet and greet. For drop-ins or walks, let’s chat about whether or not your pup or cat would enjoy her company.** Thanks for your ongoing support. We can’t wait to meet you and your fur kids!

Reviews

I can't say enough great things about Johnna! She was incredibly patient, kind, and diligent in following my instructions. My dogs are quite shy and tend to be difficult with new people, but she managed to connect with them in a way that I've never seen before. She even found a way to play fetch with them, bringing out their playful sides and building a bond that I thought would take much longer. Her wonderful approach made a world of difference in their comfort levels. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and skilled dog sitter!

Once again, Joanna is great. We are so grateful that she is there to take care of our pets.

Johnna was an absolute godsend. She took care of our senior dog in the most loving positive way while we attended a wedding. She kept us updated with pictures and texts. We would highly recommend Johnna and wished we lived in the area so we could have her watch our dog again. So grateful. Thank you.

Johnna did a fantastic job with my 2 dogs, kept me updated and sending proof of life photos…which I appreciated!! She showed such respect for my home as well. Would highly recommend her and for sure will be using her again in the future. 🙏
