About: I’ve never not had pets. My family has almost always had dogs, and I took care of a hamster and cat when I was younger. Today, my wife and I have two poodle-mix dogs (Togepi and Raisin) and two guinea pigs (Betty and Gertie). We got Togepi when he was just a couple months old. We got Raisin from a shelter in 2024. I’ve helped my wife with her Rover sitting since since 2023—she’s a 5-star sitter. I just graduated from law school and am studying for the California bar exam this summer. I’m available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. My wife plans to do Mondays-Thursdays if you need someone earlier in the week. I’m happy to care for your pet(s) however you’d like. If you want me to stay in your home while you’re away, I can do so on most Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
“Brandie did and amazing job of watching our four big dogs. The had some special medical needs that she accomadated and we got photos plus great communication. We will definitely be using her again.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Maddison was incredibly responsive and respectful of my home. She took such great care of my dog, and I could tell my pup was happy and well looked after. On top of that, she was super kind. Highly recommend!”

“Johnna house-sat for us while we were away at a memorial service in Los Angeles, and she took care of both our cat and dog, and our house. She was fabulous. She went above and beyond, as usual. It is lovely to have someone so trustworthy take care of our home while we are away. I cannot recommend her highly enough.”

“Brooklyn took great care of our pets and our house. We appreciated the numerous pictures of happy pups and could tell they enjoyed her company. We would happily hire her again.”

“Mariah took great care of our pets and was great when our AC froze up on one of the hottest days of the year. Thank you for taking such great care of the boys in difficult circumstances.”

“Cheyenne watched our 11 month old mini golden doodle, Teddy, for 10 days. We were really nervous about leaving him because we had never left him before. Also, he can be a little rascal at times. Cheyenne handled him like a pro! She followed our directions to the letter! Not only did she take care of our puppy, but also took excellent care of our house! She watered our plants and went above and beyond and raked our leaves. I received many photos and videos of Teddy during our trip, which put me at ease. I felt confident that he was in the very best of hands. Thank you, Cheyenne for being an amazing sitter for our puppy! I would recommend Cheyenne in a heartbeat! She is friendly, kind, responsible, and totally trustworthy!”

“Danika was an incredible sitter! She took amazing care of our five pets (three dogs and two cats) while we were traveling internationally. Two of our dogs are very shy rescues, and she was able to win them over with patience and kindness, which is no easy feat. We came home to all of the animals looking relaxed and clearly well cared for. Danika kept in touch throughout our trip with updates that gave us peace of mind. She even washed and changed our bedding so we could come home to fresh sheets after a 20-hour travel day. So thoughtful! We would absolutely book with Danika again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate sitter on Rover.”

“Delmar is a lovely person and pet sitter! She went above and beyond to make sure my menagerie was taken care of and sent lots of updates. She also took her own notes about my home and the the pets’ schedules.”

“We have used Julia many times now for dog sitting/house sitting, and always have peace of mind when we travel. She's great with our two big energetic dogs. She goes above and beyond our expectations- house is always so neat, dogs are entertained/well taken care of, and she is always fast with communicating.”

“My first time using a pet sitter and service. Raina responded to my inquiry within minutes and set up a meet and greet for the following day. Raina accepted the in house sitting for 5 days. Raina sent at least two photos every day showing Ralphie being himself which put me at ease. When I returned, the house was clean and taken care of. I'd definitely rebook with Raina again.”

“Shannon was AMAZING! My girls are very picky about who they snuggle up with and they loved Shannon. Their grandma popped in to visit and even she pointed out how they were not as amused with grandma this visit and wanted to follow Shannon around instead. I can’t thank Shannon enough for taking such good care of our babies and our house.”

“We had an amazing experience with Olesia! She was kind, patient, and incredibly understanding with our young puppy, Bubbles. From the very first meet-and-greet, she made us feel comfortable and confident that he would be in great hands. Bubbles is still a baby and can be quite energetic and mouthy, but she handled him with so much patience and care. It was clear that she genuinely enjoys spending time with dogs and understands puppy behavior. She was attentive, gentle, and made the whole experience stress-free for us. We would absolutely trust her with Bubbles again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional pet sitter. Thank you for taking such great care of our little guy! 🐶❤️”

“Mike house and pet sat our three fur-babies for four nights: 1 senior miniature poodle, 1 senior cat, and one young labradoodle. When he came by for the meet-and-greet, he was very attentive to how we interact with our pets and asked lots of questions about their personalities and individual quirks. Our two senior pets had multiple eye drops and an oral medication, all which Mike administered like a pro! He was very communicative and sent us updates with photos regularly. Our house was in perfect condition upon our return. We highly recommend Mike and look forward to hiring him again for our next trip!”

About: Hello! My name is Laura and I'm 38 years old. I grew up in the country and my mother had a dog grooming studio in our house. I have always loved animals and grew up with dogs, cats, birds, ducks and horses. As an adult, I have worked at animal shelters and for private rescues. I have fostered dogs in my own home, many of whom were neglected and needed a sensitive touch. I currently have 3 rescue dogs of my own, one of whom has kidney disease. I give medication and IV fluids three times a week for her at home. I am available for dog walks/hikes, pet sitting and am comfortable with a wide range of breeds. I tailor each experience to match your pets needs. I am up for anything including, long walk, adventurous hikes, leisurely strolls, playing in the back yard, snuggling on the couch and more. I am happy to spend whatever time and energy your fur baby needs!

Riley did an amazing job house sitting/watching my two dogs. He provided updates and pictures and was very communicative. We had no worries while our pups were in his care. We came back home from a weekend away to healthy and happy pups! I would highly recommend!

Brooklyn was amazing. We have never used Rover before due to someone we don’t know watching out pups, but she made the process so easy. She adjusted her schedule to be able to watch our two dogs and was so quick to respond with any questions or provide photos of our boys! She left the house in great condition and even did the laundry that was used during her stay which was so unexpected! I will definitely have Brooklyn back in the future when we need help with our dogs!

We had an amazing experience with Olesia! 🐶❤️

Brandie stayed at my house for 4 days with my dog and 3 cats. She left the house in great condition and even watered my plants and brought in my mail. She is a natural with animals. My dog developed a tight connection with her and she did a great job taking care of him even in the very warm weather. She was great with the cats as well; playing with them and tending to their needs. I appreciate that she kept the dog and cats apart as they do not like each other. I highly recommend Brandie for your pet sitting and dog walking needs.

Aubrey did an amazing job house sitting for us during a weekend trip. From the time I reached out online through the meet and greet and her stay for our trip, she provided excellent communication. She made sure to clarify any instructions before making assumptions which I always appreciate. She kept us updated during our vacation on her coming and goings and we received many photos of our girl. She took great care of our house and everything was exactly as we had left it. Our girl seemed very well cared for and happy when we returned, and like she had a lot of love and snuggles with Aubrey. We will definitely be using Aubrey again in the future and would not hesitate to book her for longer stays. Thank you, Aubrey!
Natalie is a gem. We came home to happy cats! She did a wonderful job of taking care of our 2 cats, kept us informed daily and sent pictures. She even took care of the neighborhood outside cat that comes by when hungry. I would not hesitate to book Natalie again.

Rebecca was very quick to respond if I had any questions. Our dog is almost 15 and needs help and Rebecca did a wonderful job. She sent pics and was very flexible. She left our place just as she found it and cut some beautiful flowers from our garden and left bouquet.

Mariah was great. My cat went up to her right away during the meet and greet. It was great to have someone who also has cats and knows how to interact with them. She sent pictures during her stay. I also feed feral cats and she was willing to help put food out for them as well. House was clean when we got back and she washed all of my many containers of food which was a nice surprise. I appreciate her attention to details. I would definitely recommend.

Johnna was an absolute godsend. She took care of our senior dog in the most loving positive way while we attended a wedding. She kept us updated with pictures and texts. We would highly recommend Johnna and wished we lived in the area so we could have her watch our dog again. So grateful. Thank you.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Fair Oaks on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fair Oaks walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fair Oaks maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fair Oaks choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fair Oaks. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
