“We contacted Brenna because of her ability to be home most of the day in order to give our dog his heart meds while we were gone for 5 nights. It’s hard to find house/pet sitters with that kind of availability. She gave us daily updates on the pups and took good care of them as well as out home.”

“Kilani did a fantastic job! I really appreciate her cleanliness and she took the best pics of our kitties. 10/10 highly recommend her for all pet sitting needs :)”

“Holly has watched our pets multiple times— she’s always thoughtful and communicative, and we leave town knowing with certainty that our pets are in amazing hands. When Holly sends photos or videos of our cats, they’re always at ease and doing their favorite activities (playing with their toys, making biscuits, and just generally having a great time.) Thank you so much for another great visit, Holly!”

“Jenna was absolutely wonderful! Extremely communicative and kept us updated which I really appreciated. She left our home in tip top shape and our pets were very well taken care of. We’ve already rebooked her for her services! 11/10 recommend”

“Jessica is seriously the best! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….hands down the most amazing sitter we have ever, ever had! You’d be crazy not to have her watch your pets for you! She’s got us as forever customers! 👌🏻🤘🏻🙏🙌🏻🤩”
“Highly recommend enlisting Carrie for all your pet needs! She was very responsive, available on a semi-short notice, highly communicative and sent photos and updates throughout the day and respectful of our space, leaving the apartment spotless. I could tell through the photos and from her behavior when we returned from our trip, that my dog was well taken care of and comfortable with Carrie. I will definitely reach out to her again in the future!”

“Jordan was great, he stayed at our house for 1-week and watched our older anxious dog. He was reliable, responsive and flexible with our dogs needs and she was in great spirits when we got home! I would highly recommend!”

“Dmitriy was a great sitter for our 2 month old Puppy, Willow. He arrived on time and ready to go. Willow is a high energy puppy that is very mouthy and still working on her potty training. Dmitriy dived right in and worked with her to have the best day! He was very good about sending me updates and photos, which really put me at ease. When I returned home Dmitriy related that it was a good day of play, naps, and no potty accidents!! I would recommend Dmitriy for his professionalism, patience, and good care for your pet!!”

“Dustin took such great care of our aging dog - even sending regular photo updates! He also left our home clean and tidy. We will definitely book with him again.”
“My husband and I decided to take our 1 year old lab, Syrah, on a road trip from Tillamook to Seattle for the weekend. We really wanted to go to a beer release party on Saturday afternoon, but did not want to leave the pup in the car for 4 hours. I put out a request on Rover for someone to meet us at the Brewery and play/exercise the dog while we enjoyed our event. It worked out perfectly!”

“Cheryl is so wonderful with our 2 dogs. I literally plan trips around her availability because she’s so fantastic and I trust her with my pups. Thank you for another worry free service. We appreciate you so much!”

“Sabrina was very professional and made me feel really good about leaving my senior kitty for the weekend. She sent daily pictures and videos and my house was in better condition than when I left. Feeling lucky to have her sitting for us again in a couple of weeks!”

“As always, Joel takes great care of Loki, and treats our home with respect. Joel is officially part of Loki's family, he is always so happy to see Joel when he comes through the door! We will see Joel in a couple of weeks when he cares for Loki at our home again.”

“We appreciate how Allie cared for Whippley. As a senior dog, he has more needs with specific instructions for meds and mobility, and Allie made it easy to feel confident. We were grateful for the photos and updates, and we would work with Allie again.”

“Jenna was absolutely amazing with my dog Otto! She gave us frequent updates on how he was doing, and I felt 1000% confident that he was being well taken care of! I would absolutely recommend her and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Awesome dog/cat sitter. Roxy had a great time and Kolby was completely relaxed when I got home. I love being able to leave my babies with a capable sitter but a bonus is happy pets when I return to a clean home. Thanks, Christina!”

“Keishla is great. My pup loves her and even with an injury, she gave Rocco lots of love and exercise. She was great about sending updates, pictures, and responding. She took great care of my home too.”

“RJ did a great job watching my dog. He sent me multiple pics of her which put my mind at ease and kept in contact with me throughout the stay. Thanks for putting this dog mom at ease!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sacramento
Carolyn is a professional. She was very responsive and sent updates during our trip. She was great with our 15th year old pup who can be stubborn. She was knowledgeable on how to care for and work with older dogs. She was patient and asked a lot of questions upfront to understand our dog's needs. She gave us such peace of mind while out of town. She also left our house super clean.

Larisa was wonderful! I can't say enough about her communication skills and the way she took care of my cat Jackson. When I came home everything was just as I left it. None of my plants died and my cat was well cared for. I will continue to use her. She's the best pets that I've ever had. I just can't say enough about her. I'm so grateful that I found her.
Catherine was wonderful! She was thoughtful, responsive, and kept me updated throughout the day with messages and photos, which gave me great peace of mind. My pups were happy, well cared for, and clearly enjoyed their time with her. I also came home to a house that was in great shape. I would absolutely book with Catherine again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter.

Jordan was fantastic! I felt very comfortable having him in our home taking care of our pups. We really appreciated the daily updates and photos. He was very respectful of our home and an excellent communicator. We will definitely use him again in the future. Thank you Jordan!

Daniella did great watching our dogs in our home. One of our dogs got sick a few times (probably from nerves) and she communicated with us right away, kept us posted, and cleaned up all the mess. Our home was just how we left it and the dogs were happy and comfortable when we got home. I’d definitely recommend her to care for pets.

Jane was awesome again! I have 3 cats. One of them gets an inhaler 2x/day for asthma and has recently started a special diet that required us to transition to microchip feeders. Then there was a bit of a comedy of errors as a few unexpected things came up. Another one of my cats started urinating outside the litter box due to a household change a week before my trip. Jane was incredibly understanding about the litter box issues and flexible as I got more info and interventions from the vet leading up to my trip. Then 2 nights before I was set to leave, my whole trip was shifted back by one day due to a scheduling error by the friend I was visiting. Jane was accommodating and flexible again. I'm so grateful that despite all the last minute changes, Jane was still able to watch my cats so I could get away for a weekend! She sent me updates, photos, and videos while I was gone, and I came back to a tidy home.

Finding someone you trust with your dog isn't always easy, but Danny made the entire experience feel effortless. From our first meet-and-greet, they came prepared with thoughtful questions about my dog's routine, personality, preferences, and any special considerations. It was clear they wanted to understand everything before the stay. During the stay, Danny kept me updated with regular photos and messages, which made it easy to relax knowing my dog was happy and well cared for, and gave me even more confidence that she was receiving the best possible care. Danny is courteous, dependable, and genuinely invested in making both pets and their owners feel comfortable. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive sitter.

Cheryl was wonderful with our two dogs. We had a last minute emergency and asked Cheryl to start her house sitting stay earlier, which she was able to accommodate. Our dogs take some time to warm up to new people, but they seemed so comfortable in Cheryl's care, which gave us a ton of peace of mind during a difficult time. She was also great at communicating with us through the booking process and during her stay and was a very gracious house guest.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sacramento on Rover is $51.18 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 2,706 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sacramento. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sacramento walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sacramento maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sacramento choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sacramento. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
