About: Updated: 2/16/2026 - I home sit (for overnights) at my home in Citrus Heights on almost an acre for clients who need dog sitting up to 2 dogs or 1 dog and 1 in house cat (spayed or neutered). I only sit one client at a time with one or two pets so I can give them full attention as I am retired.. Cats will be in outdoor cat condo under carport at this time. I don’t book out farther than 90 days. Additionally, I do drop-in's from 9 am to 5 pm daily. NOTE: I home care dogs in Citrus Heights (near Antelope & Sunrise). I've owned a couple of pure breed German Shepherds and a few rescue German Shepherds, a Golden Retriever, and a medium mix dog. I've taken some doggie training classes. There are two other adults who live with me (dog lovers). Non-smoking house. Dogs are provided Britta filtered water. Let me know your dog's preferences for playtime... Frisbee, ball toss, tug toys, etc. for overnights (please provide the food). Look forward to meeting your sweet dogs. I do walk about around my large backyard on leash if you prefer your dog to keep up with walking training. It's a bit like a track in the backyard. Cats will be outdoor under a structured carport in a cat condo (with litter box access). I'll update you wtih daily photos. I can’t accept Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinchers, or Rottweilers for insurance reasons. I'm retired and looking forward to have dog guests. If you vacation during the summer months this will work well for you. In the house is great too. All my dogs have been indoor dogs. I have a fenced yard that can be divided and fenced for smaller dogs too. It's a big property and dogs can be contained in smaller areas if you prefer. See pictures.
“Leah is amazing! She works with me if I have last minute changes or add ons. She's very attentive to the dogs. Keeps me informed of anything going on. Especially with my stubborn, picky eater pom! She helps give him medicine that's needed every day and also as needed. Leah also helps with some grooming, which is a huuuuge help. Highly recommend her services! Thank you Leah for taking care of Tater Tot!”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Epic Doggie Adventure with Tammie – A Five-Star Tale of Tail-Wagging Joy In a world where trustworthy dog sitters are as rare as a unicorn at a dog park, one woman stands above the rest. Her name… is Tammie. Her mission… to turn ordinary dog-sitting into extraordinary canine adventures. And lucky for us, my sweet Sugar got to be the star. Sugar—my spunky, snow-white cockapoo with the heart of a lioness—was welcomed into Tammie’s home like royalty. Not only did she find a second family, she found a whole pack. Tammie's four dogs became her instant crew. The kind of squad you’d want backing you up on a Pixar-style rescue mission. But this isn’t just about tail wags and playtime. It’s about love. Tammie didn’t just watch Sugar—she cared for her. She cleaned Sugar’s eyes gently with a warm cloth while petting her. She let her hang out with her sweet kids. She gave me a full “report card” so detailed, it felt like a scene straight out of a Wes Anderson film: 6 pees. 1 poop. 8 water breaks. That’s dedication. That’s data. That’s love. Tammie gets what it means to be a dog parent. She lives it—traveling with her own four pups, creating a home that feels more like a dog-friendly dreamscape than just another house. She’s not just a sitter. She’s a director of happiness, orchestrating a beautiful symphony of barks, belly rubs, and tail wags. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your dog like family, craft their stay into a heartwarming mini-movie, and send them home with a sparkle in their eyes… look no further. Sugar can’t wait for the sequel. 🐾”

“Olesia was wonderful. We dropped off our dog for around 6 hours and she was very communicative. She sent lots of photos and our dog was very happy to stay with her. Would definitely use Olesia again!”

“Lucas was amazing with my puppy, Nala! He was incredibly welcoming from the start and made sure she was comfortable and cared for the entire time she stayed with him and Ferguson. You can tell he genuinely loves dogs and pays attention to their individual needs. Nala came home happy, well cared for, and clearly had a great experience. I also appreciated the updates and the peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. I would absolutely trust Lucas again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter!”

About: I have a heart full of love for DOGS and CATS alike. My pomeranian died two years ago and she wasn't just my dog, she was one of the family. She went everywhere with me. When your dog comes to our home, they will be treated like one of the family. When I have to get my daughter from school, there is a good possiblity, your dog will get to go for a car ride too. Just like they were my kid!! Daily walks are a must too. That is unless they just don't want to that day. I am flexible. We have playtime too. I am currently working remotely so I can give your furries all the love and attention they could possible need and want. They can have bathroom breaks as needed as well as daily walks. We have a fenced in yard so your furries are safe with us. We have one small dog and 4 cats that are friendly to other animals.

About: Hello! I'm Kristen, a young professional with a work-from-home career and a full-time job caring for my 3 year old Golden Retriever. I have had several dogs ranging in sizes my entire life, as well as cats, birds, hamsters, and even hermit crabs. I trained my Retriever myself, and adopted him from a puppy mill rescue when he was 8 weeks old. I have been a reliable petsitter for friends and family for many years, have experience caring for rescued dogs/reactive dogs, and am excited to make more new pet friends! I work from home and have a flexible schedule. I walk my own dog on my lunch break and after work, and would be able to check on/walk yours on a similar timeline! I have a fenced front yard and back yard, as well as exterior security cameras. My dog is very friendly and has been socialized since he was vaccinated and able to be introduced to other dogs.
“Great home with large backyard and plenty of tennis balls for our golden. Lots of picture updates throughout the day helped us feel like she was in our backyard. This couple is very patient and took extra care of our dog.”

“Awesome care for our dog, Mike. The photos of him playing were comforting and a nice extra touch. I have total confidence in Julia and her family. She has my highest recommendation!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Citrus Heights
Victoria was a life saver as I booked a week in advance! Drop off and pick up was super smooth and the communication was great. Zen was shy and timid when I dropped him off but she reassured me Zen was doing well later on. I greatly appreciate her being there to help care for my pup while I was out in the area!

We recently had Georgi stay with Julia, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the experience. Georgi had such a great time participating in all of the interactive activities and enrichment setups Julia provides for the dogs — you can truly tell how much thought and care goes into creating a fun environment for them. One thing I especially appreciated was the constant communication and the abundance of photos throughout the day. Seeing Georgi happy, engaged, and comfortable gave me so much reassurance knowing she was in such great hands. It’s obvious Julia genuinely cares about the dogs she watches and treats them like her own. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, attentive, and fun pet sitter!

Sara and her family are so sweet and gave my dogs a lot of attention. She sent me pictures of her kids playing with my dogs and I could tell that they were having a good time. Her home is set up really well for my dogs with the backyard covered patio. My dogs are funny about going out in the rain and it was raining in the morning so her having a covered patio was really good for my dogs. I definitely recommend Sara!!!! I now have a new dog sitter with Sara.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Citrus Heights commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
