“Misao took amazing care of our cat while we were out of town. She was very conscientious, gave us regular updates, brought in our mail and packages, and left the house cleaner than when we left. Not only was she incredibly sweet, she was timely, followed our detailed instructions perfectly and was overall a great pet sitter! Highly recommend and would hire again :)”

“I’ve gotten a puppy since having them as a sitter for my other dog and they were super accommodating and flexible with a new routine and new dog! Would 100% recommend them both to care for your pets.”

“Sierra is a dog whisperer. I met with her prior to starting weekly drop in visits. I was concerned that my rescue chi who is very anxious wouldn’t be thrilled about a new person coming into our home, as she hasn’t been with the last few people I’ve interviewed. But I was wrong! She calmed within minutes and Sierra was even able to pick her up and take her to the backyard. My chug absolutely adores her and I have peace of mind while I’m at work or out of town. Thank you Sierra!”

“Juli did a great job taking care of my animals on a long and busy day away, which alleviated a lot of stress for me. I can be a worrier and what a relief to have full confidence in Juli's care and she made the process so easy. I will definitely work with Juli again to care for my animals.”

“Megan is fantastic. Kind, calm, loving with my dog Forrest. Very responsive, on time, attentive. Sent updates and photos. I felt completely at ease being away from home. Highly recommend Megan.”

“Kim is a fantastic sitter. I’ve tried several sitters for my two pups that both have very differing needs, Kim is by far the best. She understands dog’s needs. Leaving the dogs with her adds a level of relaxation to our trips knowing my precious pups are being well cared for.”

“Lydia watched both my cat and dog over a holiday weekend. Great communication, sent me pictures every day. Very thankful to have someone look after them while I was away. Highly recommend!”

“Alyssa goes out of her way to make her visits with our puppy fun and engaging! I literally can’t believe how much play and training she packs into her visits. She’s always on time, sends great pictures and notes that make our day when we’re away from our pup. 5 stars-all gold!”

“Another great pet sitting service provided by Erica! She provides excellent care to our cats and they love her! It’s always a relief knowing you can count on someone to trust your pets with. Thank You!”

About: I’ve spent many years caring for pets- whether it be for my own or others. I am reliable for drop ins, walks, play time, special care or medication administration, or just showing love to your furry friend. I’ve cared for multiple pets at a time, puppies, senior dogs, etc. I am currently a grad student so my schedule is pretty flexible. I just moved to Tacoma (I don’t have my car yet) so my availability radius will be larger sooner! Right now I am walking to my appointments. I am available mornings and afternoons on weekdays for walks or drop ins! I can easily crate your dog, feed them, let them out, take them for a walk, administer medication or special care, and leave you with peace of mind that your baby is well taken care of and loved. Walks can be short or long- whichever you need!
“Christina came to my rescue last minute in a tough situation and has become our weekly walker. I am so incredibly grateful for the consistent help, flexibility, and experience with reactive dogs. Highly recommend!!!”

“Kandi is the best!!! We have more peace of mind when we are away because we know our cat is under her watch. She is reliable and responsive, and we can tell she genuinely cares about our cat because she notices small changes in behavior, or when he has a hot spot, etc. We can’t recommend her services highly enough!”

“Highly recommend Carrie if you need a cat sitter! Carrie did check-ins for my senior cat while we were away for 7 days during Thanksgiving week. I was a bit nervous, as I've never had to leave my cat alone for that long before. The meet-and-greet with Carrie alleviated all my worries! She was wonderful with our cat, and gave him so much love, attention, and play time while we were away. Her update reports were always detailed and lovely to read, and she sent tons of great photos with each report. Everything was clean when we returned home (cat box empty/clean, litter swept off the floor). Carrie was always on time for meet-ups, check-ins, key exchanges etc, and is the perfect person to have check-in on your pet! :) I'll definitely be reaching out to her again next time we need someone to check on our cat!”

“My pets are my family and I'm super particular when it comes to them. I have a 9 month Mali puppy and so it's really important who comes around her at this age. As such, leaving them is hard for me because that's always on my mind. Long story short - If Kevin had more availability, I would be doing a lot more traveling lol. Punctual, knowledgable, kind, clean, thorough and goes above and beyond. We are so lucky we found him!”

Dee Anne did a wonderful job watching our kitties, she sent photos everyday, played with them, and made sure they were well taken care of. We will definitely use her whenever we go out of town again, and we would highly recommend her to anyone who needs pet care while they are away.

Alexis took amazing care of our dog and elderly cat while we were celebrating our wedding. We came back to a clean house and two fluffers who seemed like they barely noticed we were gone. She was even sweet enough to leave us a congratulations card :’) 10/10 recommend!

Haley is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever come across. I feel SO lucky to have found her for all of our future pet sitting needs! I booked her super last minute on a holiday weekend and she couldn’t have been more gracious and accommodating. My senior kitty requires medication and meal monitoring which she handled perfectly along with being super communicative with me on how he did the entire time I was away. She sent so many adorable pictures that showed clearly how quickly he fell in love with her. I had so much peace of mind while gone knowing that my baby was in the care of someone so caring and attentive. Thank you, Haley! 🩷

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in University Place. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
