“Thank you Amanda for taking great care of our kitties! They look forward to our next trip so you can visit again ;). Great service, prompt response. We can’t recommend Amanda enough!”

“Michael was very prompt and very accommodating. We really appreciate his extra efforts to get to know our dog before his longer stay. Our normally shy dog warmed up to him right away and we feel really comfortable leaving our dog with him. We are looking forward to his stay with our dog.”

“Juli is the best!! We have a dog who is scared of strangers but she was so patient and won him over in a meet and greet and they became fast friends so there were no issues on the drop in. 100% recommend her!!”

“Erica did a wonderful job caring for our cats! Loved the rover cards with the pictures. Great relief of mind to have someone checking in on them during our vacation.”

“Holly was absolutely amazing. She took care of our three cats with such conscientiousness and love which was very evident given their behavior in the pictures she sent us. Two of our boys have health issues and need special food/medication and she handled that very adeptly. We will definitely be reaching out to her anytime we go somewhere. Thanks Holly!”
“I’ve gotten a puppy since having them as a sitter for my other dog and they were super accommodating and flexible with a new routine and new dog! Would 100% recommend them both to care for your pets.”

“Misao is great! She’s taken care of my cat twice. She’s a great communicator and very sweet. Her attention to detail is top notch and I know my sweet boy is in good hands when I’m not there. :)”

“Carrie was wonderful to work with. She was easy to communicate with, very responsive, and took great care of our three cats while we were away. One of our cats decided to play hide-and-seek the entire time, but Carrie kept us updated on all of them and sent regular messages and photos, which gave us real peace of mind. We came home to happy, well-cared-for cats, and we'd gladly book Carrie again.”

“Sierra was great with my two young dogs for their drop in visits! Very thorough, friendly, good with the pups, timely and communicative about the visits. Would definitely recommend and use her services again!”

About: I grew up with dogs and cats as a child, and started doing pet care for neighbors as soon as I could. Caring for pets continued through college, getting connected through friends to walk dogs in between classes. When I moved to the PNW, I discovered Rover and have been sitting and walking ever since. The recent gap in my services was from moving down to University Place and then focusing on my own dog, Winston, for the first two years after his adoption. I am only offering walks and drop-ins (no long term or overnight care). My pup Winston will stay at home whenever I am booked for services so that I can give your pet(s) 100% of my attention. I have cared for dogs of all sizes, ages, and energy levels and have experience with quite a few behavioral concerns as well. I am very comfortable working with pets that struggle with: - leash reactivity - anxiety around people or other animals - medical issues, including those that require medication administration or emergent care - pain and mobility issues due to aging - food sensitivities/diet restrictions I also love working on dog training whether that’s loose leash walking techniques or just having your pup learn or practice tricks as a part of a drop in visit. I know the feeling of leaving your pet with a Rover sitter for the first time, especially when they have a history of medical issues or anxiety, so I always send detailed updates with photos to keep you at ease. I’m so excited to be starting my services again and hope to meet you and your pets soon! I am taking a break from work before beginning a fully remote role as a consultant in a few months, offering me a ton of flexibility to set my own schedule. Once I begin working again, advance notice will make it easier for me to schedule my meetings around Rover bookings. I live in home with my partner in a quiet, dog friendly neighborhood. I typically refrain from off leash activities, interactions with other dogs/people, or rigorous activities like hiking or running unless I have permission from the owners and repeat experience with the pet.
About: For most of my life, I have had many animals, including cats and dogs whom I've loved taking care of. I enjoy walking, feeding, and playing with them. I want to be a dog's best friend, make them feel comfortable and safe with a person who they just met. Providing these animals with joy by being there and allowing them to explore the outdoors and running around chasing their toys brings happiness to me and the dog(s). Making the animals feel safe allows them to be themselves and to have fun, even when their parents are gone, creating a fun environment is a must for these animals. I find meeting new dogs is very enjoyable experience being able to spend time with them, knowing they will have fun while being safe. I'm currently working part-time as a teacher in tacoma. Therefore my summer is free and the fall is open as well to take care of all your pets needs! I have experience meeting all kinds of dogs and cats, from scared and shy to friendly and jumping. I will work with the owner to create a safe, fun, and trustworthy environment.

Dee Anne did a wonderful job watching our kitties, she sent photos everyday, played with them, and made sure they were well taken care of. We will definitely use her whenever we go out of town again, and we would highly recommend her to anyone who needs pet care while they are away.

My pets are my family and I'm super particular when it comes to them. I have a 9 month Mali puppy and so it's really important who comes around her at this age. As such, leaving them is hard for me because that's always on my mind. Long story short - If Kevin had more availability, I would be doing a lot more traveling lol. Punctual, knowledgable, kind, clean, thorough and goes above and beyond. We are so lucky we found him!

Alexis took amazing care of our dog and elderly cat while we were celebrating our wedding. We came back to a clean house and two fluffers who seemed like they barely noticed we were gone. She was even sweet enough to leave us a congratulations card :’) 10/10 recommend!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in University Place. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
