“Misao was quite simply the best dog and house sitter we have ever experienced. From the moment we left for our Thanksgiving vacation, she provided an immediate sense of trust, professionalism, and true peace of mind. She demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, strong situational awareness, and genuine care for our home and our dogs. Throughout our time away, she kept us well informed with thoughtful updates and photos that clearly showed how happy, relaxed, and well cared for our dogs were—allowing us to fully enjoy our holiday without worry. When we returned home, it was evident how much of an impression she made. Our dogs waited by the door, clearly hoping she would return, which speaks volumes about the bond she built with them and the level of care she provided. We are deeply impressed by Misao’s reliability, professionalism, and compassion. We sincerely hope she will be our go-to dog and house sitter moving forward, and we recommend her without hesitation or reservation.”

“Michael was a great sitter. He took fantastic care of our energetic pittie and senior cat. He provided timely updates and was easy to communicate with. We are glad we found him and will definitely ask him to house and pet sit for us again. Thank you so much, Michael!”

“Angie was absolutely amazing and made our vacation away from our animals so relaxing knowing they were well taken care of! She sent lots of pictures which we loved, and took our dog on lots of walks. We will definitely be reaching out again in the future!”

“Wow!! We have been using Rover for 10 years and Megan is our first "perfect" sitter. She is super communicative, sends pictures with excellent little daily write ups that arent too short or too invasively long/frequent, and followed our instructions to a T. My neighbor even remarked that my dog seemed happy and content when she spotted them walking the lake together. I came home to a perfectly clean house - Megan had even washed and remade the guest bed and laid out her clean towels! The house also smelled heavenly with the dinner she had made before I arrived home; she must be a great cook. Even my plants had all thrived and seemed to be very happy and growing. If the plants are happy too, you know that you found a gem! ;) Not once did Megan call or text me with an emergency or needing help with small little idiosyncrasies when staying in a new home. She was incredibly self sufficient, reliable, and respectful of my home - but also great about communicating her needs upfront during our consultation, or asking permission via text while I was away. Truly a perfect sitter. I highly recommend you book with her.”

“Yvette did an incredible job caring for our elderly Pitt Bull with special needs, as well as our chickens and ducks while we were out of town!! She kept us up to date and sent us pictures! It was so nice to be able to relax knowing our pets were being well taken care of. We will definitely contact her for our future vacations! Thank you Yvette!!”

“Alicia is amazing and very thoughtful! She anticipated our needs and kept in contact, did everything we would’ve asked her to do without us having to ask her, including time-zoning us so that she could send pics of our dog during our day! We even came home to flowers and treats. Who does that?! :) We could not have asked for a better dog/house sitter and am so thankful to have met her.”

“We could not have asked for better care. It was immediately clear that Russ was attentive to all our pets' needs, and he communicated every step of the way with such thoughtfulness about the details that it's obvious he's not only an animal lover but an all-around compassionate person. We had such a tall order to fill — in particular, it included care for a frail senior dog who required constant supervision over long days. It was such a comfort to know he was in Russ's calm, capable hands, ready for whatever snags came along. This was Russ's first booking but he is clearly a ready professional.”

“Wren took excellent care of my dogs and cats while we were gone for the week. They were well loved, and our house was taken good care of too. I'd definitely recommend her.”

“Jennifer and Champ we amazing staycation friends for my pup, Scout! He was so happy and well cared for while I was gone, and Jennifer's proactive communication and pictures of Scout really helped reassure me that he was in great hands! We can't wait to invite them back next time I need puppy care :D”

“Jaimi and her boy house sit for us on a long weekend and we’re so great. They took such good care of our girls and she went above and beyond with the house before heading home.”

“Noelle is amazing. Seriously amazing. She took care of Winnie during the heat wave and offered to bring Winnie back to her house that has AC. She went above and beyond to make sure Winnie was safe and cool during the very hot days. She sent lots of photos and is very observant and aware! Will definitely be reaching out to Noelle again. The best!!”
“Hannah was responsive and flexible. She took great care of our dog and sent pictures daily. We came back to a clean house and a happy dog! will definitely contact her in the future”

“Pazao was and is a dream! She took the BEST care of our almost 4 year old English Bull Terrier and we couldn’t have asked for more! She also house sat during her time with Biggie Duane and we are so thankful for the peace her care brought to us. If we could give a 10 star review we would! Thank you Pazao for everything!”

“Michelle is great. I would definitely recommend her to any friends and family who want their pets well taken care of. She took care of my puppy for a week and was very communicative, focused on training and getting outside.”

“Sarah was a wonderful commentator and prompt with response. She took great care of our favorite family member and was a very loving provider while we were away. She sent pictures and kept us informed. I definitely recommend her to look after your pet.”

“Gina was wonderfully attentive and communicative regarding the care of our pups and home. This was my first time using a pet sitter service and her attention to detail, clear communication and transparency really made me feel comfortable leaving my pups and home in her care. I definitely appreciate that she did some light chores and left the house cleaner than we left it!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - University Place
As always, Todd was incredible. He is excellent at communicating. We received updates and pictures every day. Our cat and dog received the best care and got all of the attention, love, and fun that we had wanted for them. We will ALWAYS choose Todd to take care of our little fur babies.

Bri & Jamal are just amazing! They took such incredible care of Willie Nelson & Ruby, our two crazy basset hounds while we went a week vacation along the Oregon coast! We got daily pics and updates thru out each day. Thank you for loving them as much as we do.

Brie house sat for my three, high energy pups! She was very responsive and sent plenty of pics so I was not worried about them. I appreciated that Brie was willing to come to my house ahead of time to meet my dogs. I have a German shepherd who can be house protective. It made me feel better that she came to meet them and they all loved her with no protective issues!

We had a great experience! They took wonderful care of our dog, Myles, and our home while we were away. Communication was excellent, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing everything was in good hands. We came home to a happy pup. We’d happily have them stay again and highly recommend them!

Ashley was amazing, my kitten absolutely adore her. Unfortunately my kitten developed an issue during our trip but Ashley caught it immediately, got her to the vet that day and sat with her there until midnight. Ashley was incredible and I will definitely be rebooking with her.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred University Place walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in University Place maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in University Place choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
