Vitoria is a thorough professional - arrived on time, was very attentive when I was sharing any instructions for Ollie, provided regular updates and the best part - she was so sensitive to Ollie’s separation anxiety that she offered to stay for 30 extra minutes since we were running late. Thank you SO much Vitoria! See you soon!

Evan looked after Piper for about 30 hours for me one weekend when I was unable to use one of my regular sitters. He was very responsive to my enquiry and even made himself available in a very tight window before the sit to meet and greet Piper - which was much appreciated. Piper accepted Evan pretty much straight away (after the baseball cap was removed and a good sniff had been had)! Handover and key collection from a friend went smoothly and everything was calm on my return - as though the dog of my life hadn’t missed me at all! Thanks Evan

Henrique is a great sitter. I left my senior dog Snoop with him at my home, and the care he gave Snoop was exceptional. I received updates through out the weekend and photos, which I found very reassuring. He also watered my plants! I was able to enjoy my weekend away knowing Snoop was being cared for and in safe hands. Thankyou Henrique.

About: I've been a dog owner myself for the past 15 years and in that time i’ve been sought out as a “go to” dog carer in the local community. I have a reputation now of being a bit of an unofficial dog walker in the Shoreditch area as I find very easy to engage with timid and shy dogs and help them socialize more with other dogs. I recently was congratulated by an owner of an 11 year old retired greyhound for making him fetch the ball for the first time since he was rescued 8 years ago! That was after only one encounter at the park. I am extremely patient and I find it very easy to understand different breed dog needs and make them enjoy their walks and play time. Im a freelance photographer so i can plan my work around any dog caring duties. I also enjoy taking long walks around the city with my greyhound and find it soothing and relaxing even if it is cold or rainy. For those reasons i think that a dog walking extra activity is a perfect fit for me at this time.I am responsible and caring and can provide many references if required. I can easily plan my day around any dog caring duties. Im also very active so moving around london and long walks are always a delight. Im also respectful and caring of any space so im a great choice for dog sitting also. I’ve had pets in this flat for 14 years so i have plenty of equipment for any moment and situation for the dog stay at the flat

Max was absolutely wonderful. He not only is absolutely lovely with animals, but he left the flat in beautiful condition and could not have been nicer or more communicative. It was lovely having him take care of our dog Wally and also meeting him and having him in our flat, look forward to engaging him again when we leave town, he is the best.

About: I had a dog when I was a teenager and I used to live in Spain before coming here. Here in London I have taken care of two of my friends' cats and the dog of a third friend when they have gone on holidays. I have stayed at their houses as is easier for the pet to feel safe and at ease, I have made sure that they are feed, change the cats sand and taken the dog on walks and to the park to play. I am currently working 2–3 days a week in the mornings, up to 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, or 2:30 PM per day in retail, and three evenings a week as a childminder from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM (sometimes 5:30 PM). I am always free one whole day per week (mostly Tuesdays), most evenings, and Saturday afternoon. First of all, I make sure to follow all the instructions that the owner gives me. I keep an eye on anything they can eat and I play with them.

We can't thank Lauren enough for the wonderful care she gave our dog Reuben while we were on holiday. She sent us daily photos showing just how well she was looking after him, which gave us such peace of mind and let us truly relax and enjoy our trip without worrying about him. On top of that, we came home to find the house left spotlessly clean — a lovely and much-appreciated bonus. Reuben was clearly happy and comfortable in her care the whole time, which speaks volumes about how well Lauren looked after him. We would happily use Lauren again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy person to look after their dog.

Megan is truly one of a kind! One of our pups is visually impaired and can take a while to warm up to people. Megan knew exactly how to handle it and at the end of the first meeting our pup was approaching her, and by the end of the sit they were the best of friends. She took the most amazing care of both our girls, keeping to a strict medication schedule for our little one, along with lots of walks, cuddles, and play time. She sent us daily updates with the most beautiful photos of the girls, and left our home spotless. We are so thankful to have found Megan and would not hesitate to recommend her.

Tassia was a total angel. Diligent, considerate and mindful of all of Betty’s needs. I got regular updates throught the day, which I really appreciated as this was the first day I had ever left Betty for any significant period of time. Tassia followed Betty’s feeding and rewarding routine and played with Betty to ensure she was happy- this was evident on her reaction when I arrived back home. We couldn't have asked for a better petsitter than Ray. Our cat, Loki, is very anxious and gets particularly stressed when it gets dark. We never normally leave him alone overnight, so this was a big step for us and we were quite worried. Ray was absolutely wonderful with him. To our surprise, Loki wasn't afraid of her at all. He usually hides from strangers, but with Ray he felt comfortable, and by the end of her stay he had completely warmed up to her. That alone says a lot. Ray kept us updated throughout our trip with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. She followed all of our instructions perfectly, and when we came home Loki was calm, happy, and settled. He quickly returned to his usual self (after giving us a little telling-off for leaving him!). Thanks to Ray, we were genuinely able to relax and enjoy our trip, knowing that Loki was safe, cared for, and in good hands. We are incredibly grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and trustworthy petsitter.

FAQs for House Sitting - London

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in London on Rover is £40.25 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 16,572 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across London. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred London walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in London choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
