This was our first time using this app - and leaving our new dog with a sitter. William (Evan) was fantastic. Professional, but lovely person who was incredibly helpful and generous. And the biggest compliment was that he and our dog hit it off immediately!! Which was perfect. Highly recommended.

About: I am the friend my friends call on when they need their cat or dog taken care of. I love animals. I have had two cats, Figaro and Treble, and am now in the UK to study after spending most of my life in Canada. I am currently on the job-hunt after graduating from Cambridge. That means I have maximum flexibility to look after your furry family. I am an early riser in general, so happy to come by in the morning, afternoon, evening, or stay! I love looking after animals. I like taking my time to get to know a dog or cat, and generally try and ensure I spend some time hanging out in their space and letting them come to me. I am very thoughtful when house-sitting for others to ensure that the space is respected! I am unable to host pets.

Kit was brilliant. Very communicative and made us feel extremely reassured about Uly’s wellbeing especially in the heat! Would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for reliable dog-sitting - and based on how much fun Uly had with her…so would he!

Antoinette was great with Lexi. Lexi is prone to be over-territorial at first, but Antoinette was very patient and calm, leading to a soon good friendship. Lexi was so comfortable with her and it’s lovely to see how happy she had been when I got home x I had regular updates of a very excited puppy. Would definitely recommend. X

My puppy immediately connected with Sema and, on my return, was playful but not manic. Sema gave me feedback on her behaviour and pointed out some areas to watch, which I appreciated. Sema spent the weekend following our routine. She took time to hand-feed when she was reluctant to eat. She is not a big eater generally. Highly recommend and look forward to rebooking.

About: I've been house and pet sitting for 2 years and care for animals and homes like I would my own. I'm highly attuned to the needs and stresses of animals and do all I can to help them settle. I tend to be proactive rather than simply following a checklist. I like to understand each animal’s individual routine, personality and needs so they can be happy and healthy while their people are away. I have taken care of plenty of dogs and cats as well as snakes, horses, reptiles and farm animals. With dogs I tend to work best with are small to medium-large. I can work with larger dogs too based on energy levels, though I'm conscious of the fact that I can't always lift a large dog should it be required in an emergency. I am always happy to maintain training and will instil basic discipline around walks and feeding where required. With cats I often maintain routine while allowing them time and space to get comfortable with me. I rarely force my presence on an animal, just as I too appreciate my own time and space. I appreciate a thorough handover, particularly around household quirks, equipment, visitors and responsibilities beyond standard pet and house care. Once I understand the setup, I’m self-sufficient and appreciate a “no news is good news” approach unless something important arises. I'm happy to provide updates if needed or leave you alone if you prefer. I’m best suited to calm or moderately active homes rather than high-chaos environments, and I value realistic expectations around responsibilities and cleanliness. Clean and safe environments help to set us all up for success. Clear communication and mutual respect go a long way; the more I understand before a sit, the better I can care for your home and animals without needing to contact you unnecessarily. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I enjoy spending time outdoors and am happy to structure my day around an animals’ needs, including walks, feeding, play, training and companionship. I’m flexible with my schedule and like to adapt my routine to suit each pet’s individual requirements, whether that means an active day of walks and enrichment or simply providing calm company. I also enjoy incorporating animals into everyday activities, so caring for a pet feels like a natural and enjoyable part of my week. I prioritise safety, trust and maintaining the pet’s familiar environment. I follow the owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding routines, exercise, medication and any specific behavioural needs, while keeping doors, gates and the home secure. I take time to build trust with each animal at their own pace, using calm, positive interactions and respecting their boundaries. I also keep the home clean and tidy, maintain the pet’s usual routine as much as possible, and communicate with the owner regularly so they know how their pet is doing.

About: I’ve been an animal person my whole life - 10+ years of experience pet sitting for friends, colleagues, neighbours, and family including years spent with my aunt’s cocker spaniels, who’ve been part of the family since I was little. I’ve also spent over a decade riding, training and competing with horses, which taught me how to read body language, stay clam, and be confidently assertive without being harsh - skills that translate really well to dogs, especially boisterous or nervous ones. I have also solid basic training/obedience experience, so I can help reinforce good habits while you’re away. Whether your pet is a snuggly lap cat or a high-energy dog, I’ll treat them like my own - because for years, that’s exactly what I’ve done for the people close to me. If you’re reading this and are new to Rover, you can get £30 off your first booking using the code carolw23626, visit https://www.rover.com/sit/carolw23626 I'm available for overnight boarding and house sitting every day of the week, as I'm home in the evenings and overnight regardless of whether I've been in the office. I can also cover drop-in visits and dog walks daily — fitting these in before and after work on office days, with much more flexibility on Fridays, some Mondays, and weekends when I'm home all day. Day care and doggy day boarding work best on Fridays and weekends, when I'm around throughout the day, and I can occasionally take these on Mondays too if I'm working from home — though this varies week to week, so it's best to check with me in advance for Monday bookings. I don’t have pets of my own, so any dog or cat in my care gets my full, undivided attention. My flat doesn’t have a garden but it does have a small balcony, and there’s a large park just 5 minutes away, so dogs get plenty of walks and outdoor times as part of their stay. Whatever the setting - my home or yours - safety and routine come first. I always follow the feeding schedule, medication, and walking routine you provide, so your pet’s day stays as close to normal as possible. I do a thorough check of the space for anything hazardous (open windows, toxic plants, small objects, escape routes) before pets arrive, and I keep emergency contact info (yours and your vet’s) on hand at all times. I send regular photo/video updates so you always know how your pet is doing, and I’m comfortable following any specific instructions around routine, anxiety triggers, or house rules to keep things as consistent as possible for your pet.

About: I live in Archway near Waterlow park. I've taken care of dogs and cats for friends and family for many years. As well as growing up with a family cat. I understand the daily needs of a pet. I love going for walks and I spend a lot of time around our local park and green spaces. I'm 28 and currently studying a masters so I often have free week days around my studies. Reach out for any questions you may have! :) I am currently studying a Masters full time but it's quite flexible so I am able to fit caring for a pet into my routine. When caring for pets (dogs & cats) in their own homes, I focus on keeping them comfortable, safe and happy in their familiar environment. I’ll follow their usual routine as closely as possible, including taking for walks, feeding, refreshing their water, cleaning litter trays and giving them plenty of attention and playtime. I understand that every pet is different, so I take the time to get to know their individual personality, needs and boundaries. I’ll also make sure their home is kept secure and tidy while I’m there, and I’ll keep owners updated so they can have peace of mind knowing their best friend is being well cared for.

About: I’ve grown up around animals my whole life. Our family dogs included a Retriever (rescue), Chocolate Lab, Blue Staffy and Staffy-cross (rescue). I’ve also cared for a Pomeranian from puppyhood, living with and looking after them almost full-time, as well as a Sheepadoodle I regularly care for. I’ve lived with domestic, Burmese and Persian cats from kittens through to their senior years, and have also cared for a roaming cat who bought kittens to our door. I’m comfortable with animals who have different personalities, quirks or behavioural needs, including rescue pets who have experienced mistreatment. I have a naturally calm and gentle disposition that animals tend to respond well to, while being firm and consistent when needed. I work remotely as a freelancer, meaning I’m around throughout the day to give pets plenty of attention and company. I’m an active person who enjoys walking, running, and exploring, so there’s usually plenty of opportunity for exercise and stimulation, as well as chill time at home. Pet-sitting is about more than feeding an animal and taking them for a walk; you’re trusting me with a member of your family and your home. I’m calm, responsible, reliable and attentive, and I’ll make sure your pet’s routine, safety and comfort are always the priority.

Flor looked after Dill at our house for a week while we were on holiday abroad. Flor gave us regular updates with photos to share the activities she and Dill were having together, this was greatly appreciated and just the right amount of information to help us know that Dill was happy and being looked after very well even when she developed a tummy upset which she can sometimes experience. We returned to a happy, excited dog and it was lovely to see how she went with a wagging tail to say goodbye to Flor when she was leaving.

Where do i start, we were extremely anxious to leave our cats with a stranger and have that stranger Iive in our home. But as I opened the door and met maia I was instantly at ease, maia is a very pleasant, bubbly person. She made a bee line straight for the cats and they were a little wary as some cats are but they took to her in no time, maia was very thorough with questions and feeding times, writing everything down as it was explained. Whilst we were away we got regular updates photos and some very cute videos also. We cannot say enough about maia, her love for animals could not be more obvious. If you are reading this and worried about the same things we were, meet maia and you will be at ease straight away. Lastly it was so nice to get home and have out boys so relaxed acting like they never missed us at all.

Ruo Xuan was absolutely fantastic looking after my kitten, Chloe, for a week in September. This was the first time I'd needed a cat sitter to stay in my home for a full week, so I was understandably a little nervous about it. From the beginning, Ruo Xuan put me completely at ease. She came to meet Chloe twice beforehand, which really helped Chloe feel comfortable with her. During the stay, she followed all the care instructions perfectly and went above and beyond. I got daily updates and photos, which was lovely. When I came back, Chloe was happy, content, and clearly very well cared for. I couldn't have asked for a better sitter and would highly recommend Ruo Xuan to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and attentive to look after their pet.

FAQs for House Sitting – London

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in London on Rover is £40.25 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 16,915 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across London. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred London walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in London choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
