Justina was amazing with our two year old Dachshund! She took him for walks, played his favourite games, and went above and beyond to meet our needs. Justina gave us regular photo and message updates, which gave us total peace of mind that he was happy and looked after. Our pup came home happy, tired, and well cared for. Highly recommend and will book again!

Drew was great. My dog is pretty anxious and this was his first time staying with someone who wasn't family, and he absolutely loved Drew. Had a great time, lots of walks and Drew was very good at sending updates and pictures. My dog has dog reactivity and Drew managed it very well, and even helped him make some new doggy friends. Would absolutely recommend Drew.

About: I’ve been around and adored both cats and dogs from my childhood. I’ve never understood the great divide between cat and dog lovers…why can’t I be both?! I’m a remote freelance designer so have a very flexible schedule that can shift around the needs of your pet. I don’t have pets or family of my own, so your furry friend can be my priority! Without the need to go into an office during the day, I have the ability to care for your pet in the comfort of their own environment.

About: Hi there, I’ve been working as a veterinary nurse for the past 10 years, gaining hands-on experience caring for a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, small furries, and reptiles. You can feel confident knowing your pets will be in safe, knowledgeable, and loving hands. As a proud dog and cat mum myself, I completely understand how stressful it can be to leave your pets, even for a short time. That’s why I always go the extra mile to make sure they feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. I’m more than happy to send regular photo and video updates, so you can relax knowing your pet is doing well. I currently work from home and occasionally locum at veterinary clinics, which means I’m able to give plenty of time and attention to your fur babies. I’m generally home during the day, whether it’s for a drop-in visit or a walk. I understand that every animal is different, so the level of interaction will always be tailored to your pet’s needs — whether they prefer quiet companionship, extra cuddles, or engaging toys and puzzles. I always respect their individual personalities and boundaries. My aim is to build a genuine connection with both you and your pets from our very first meeting. I truly look forward to meeting you and giving your pets the love, care, and attention they deserve. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out — I’m always happy to chat. Thanks, Neeky Pet care fits naturally into my day as I work from home, meaning I’m around most of the time to give pets plenty of attention, comfort, and care. They’re rarely left alone and I make sure they have regular feeding, playtime, walks, and cuddles. On days when I locum at a veterinary clinic, this is always planned in advance so your pet’s routine is never disrupted. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing are my top priorities. I follow routines closely, keep environments clean and secure, and ensure pets are supervised at all times. With my experience as a veterinary nurse, I’m comfortable administering medication if needed and monitoring health and behaviour. I respect your home as if it were my own and aim to make pets feel relaxed, secure, and cared for at all times.

Kayla helped us out immensely with a last minute booking as another sitter we had booked fell through, she was quick to respond, very accommodating, and helped save the day. She was excellent with Pepper, communicated with us clearly to ask questions and share updates on their day, and became fast friends with a rather anxious dog. Would absolutely recommend her to anybody, really great experience.

About: Hello! My name is Hope, I’m 31 years old, I’m a Youth Worker, and I adore pets. My first cat, TJ, was a rescue. We had him from the age of 16 and he lived to the age of 23. He passed away a few years ago, but I believe he lived a long and happy life because we gave him the love and care he needed. When he was 16, we were told he had only had 6months to live, but he continued to live an extra 6-7 years. I miss him everyday. TJ was on medication for his heart and kidneys, and he was on specialised food. If your cat needs specialised food and/or medication, I am more than happy to provide your cat the care they require. I now have another cat, Ivy. She is 4 years old, and we rescued her from Bahrain. She is a calico, and an absolute drama queen. She is funny, sassy, vocal, ‘spicy’ yet sweet. If you have a calico, I’m sure you know what I mean! I also care for my neighbours cats, including a Bengal. He also has specific requirements (for example, extra playtime to keep him stimulated). I have always been an animal lover. Prior to having cats, I used to own dogs, fish, and rabbits. I also care for my neighbours guinea pigs and dogs when they are away. I regularly care for 4 dogs in my apartment building. This includes regular walks and sleep-overs. If you pick me as your pet-sitter, I will not only provide the basics, but I’ll spend lots of time with them to ensure they are happy and not lonely. You will receive plenty of updates via WhatsApp, including pictures and videos.

Had a great chat with Jo in advance of her watching my dog, Archie, which made me feel more secure on having her house sit him for an evening. She showed up earlier than expected so we could leave promptly to our event and even offered to stay late so we could enjoy ourselves. She was so warm and friendly with Archie and while we were gone she sent regular photo updates of him and texts. Would absolutely use her again if we were in need of a pet sitter. She was fab!

About: I've taken care of pets for nearly my whole life. Also had pets in the house including cats, dogs. I know exactly how to walk, talk and feed pets as well as I have been educated with the medicine within caring for animals. I am currently working full time at a pizzeria. But I will make sure to fit in any time I can to play or walk with your animals. And plus I think that would give me some down time from the full time work I'm in haha. I'm normally free 2-3 days a week and we could for sure schedule a time as I would have my work days registered to me before hand. I am very well aware of the dangers when handling dogs. Walking around with your dog will be very enjoyable for the animal but for me i will always have both eyes on your dog. And for definite have a eye on the road, as a previous dog owner knowing how dangerous the roads are with animals. If your dog needs medicine I will listen closely to your instructions and take serious attention to that.

About: I have had my own dogs for 5 years now and have had the company of cats for about 10 years now, they’re the most important thing in my life. Dogs and cats have been present my whole life whether they were mine or my neighbours or a family friends and I was constantly obsessed and helped to feed them, clean them, walk them, take care of them, and most importantly, love them. I am currently studying remotely so I will have plenty of time for your tiny or big companions and can fit into any routine easily. I can be up to any of your pets needs no matter how specific they are and in every situation they will be my priority. Additionally, if any of your pets are runaways like mine, I will happily chase after them if necessary 🥹.

About: Hi there! We’re Megan & Ethan 👋 We’ve both grown up with dogs and have experience caring for a variety of breeds, from Labradors to Border Terriers. One of the dogs closest to our hearts is Breck, a Border Collie we regularly look after for weeks at a time. He can be nervous around new people and dogs, so we’re very familiar with supporting anxious or timid pups with patience, reassurance, and consistency. Having two of us means double the attention and flexibility. With one of us often working from home while the other may be in the office, we can easily adjust who’s on dog duty, giving us great availability throughout the week. This allows us to adapt to each dog’s individual needs — whether that’s companionship, calm reassurance, or structured routines — and to accommodate walks, drop-ins, daycare, and overnight stays. We live in a cosy house that provides a comfortable environment for dogs, and we’ve also got a garden that they can run around in. Pets are welcome to relax on the furniture, and we’re always happy to follow any routines or training rules you have in place. We prioritise reliability, communication, and plenty of photo and video updates, so you can feel confident your dog is safe, happy, and well cared for. Your dog will be treated as one of our own — with kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care. 🐶💛 We both work full time, with flexible working arrangements that allow us to coordinate our schedules. Between us, we can arrange things so that someone is home during the day, ensuring your dog always has company and attentive care. When we’re caring for dogs, we stick closely to their normal routine to keep things familiar and stress-free. We’ll feed them at their usual times, keep their water topped up, and make sure walks, playtime, and rest all fit around their established habits. We’re very mindful of following any special instructions - whether that’s medication, dietary needs, or little routines that make them feel comfortable.

We are so lucky to have found Nicola! She is very kind and seems to love cats very much. She is very outgoing, she came to meet our cat before we agreed to a booking and she was lovely. When we came back from our holiday our cat was happy and our house was just as we left it! She sent lots of updates regularly alongside pictures and videos of our cat. I highly recommend Nicola and we will definitely be booking her again in the future when we go away again.

Such a relief to leave my two boys with such a caring and thoughtful sitter. Larissa was wonderful - sending me updates and sleeping with them so they wouldn’t feel too unsettled. Alice and Brandon just stayed at ours for 2 weeks and looked after our senior cat Pedro who, as well as demanding cuddles and fuss 24/7, most importantly needs daily medicine for his asthma. Alice and Brandon took care of him (and our house) perfectly. We got lots of daily updates and photos which we love, and when we came back the house was spotless and tidy and Pedro was extra soft which means he got lots of brushing time! Thank you so much guys, we couldn't be happier for the service you've provided us. M&D and Pedro xx

FAQs for House Sitting - Croydon

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Croydon on Rover is £40.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 16,882 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Croydon. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Croydon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Croydon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
