“I had a great experience with Stacey. She babysat my 2 mini poodles for a week. She was very easy to communicate with, I got updates. She was great with the pups, it looked like they had a really good time. She left my place clean and organized - even washed the needing she used. She even helped me by moving my car several times when I was away. She followed my instructions regarding the feeding etc.. I'd highly recommend her and I'd use her services in the future too.”

“Scarlett took such wonderful care of our dog, Snow Cone! She was so kind, flexible to a couple of last minute changes, and took lots of great photos. She communicated really well with us, with very prompt responses, and asked great questions during the meet and greet. We are excited to book her again soon!”

“Diana was very nice and professional. She gave me peace of mind while I was away for 6days. She was very patient with my senior dog , my other dog that has really bad anxiety and with me ! She sent me photos and kept me updated. I already recommended her to all my family and friends that also have dogs. I am definitely going to rebook with her again !”

“Hannah is just wonderful! She is reliable and provides such attentive care for my mini Goldendoodle! Raja enjoys all the walks, play time, and cuddles! We appreciate the regular updates on Raja throughout the day. I highly recommend Hannah!!”

“Mary was amazing! She dog sat at our home with our 35 lb frenchy-pit mix. She was with her for 4 days. She sent multiple pictures a day and helped a nervous fur-mama feel very comforted. She left the house immaculate! I feel so lucky to have found her. Thank you, Mary!!”

“Erika is professional, kind, responsible, and kept me updated on my pup while I was away. I had her stay at my home while I was away. She was clean and organized and make sure to send me pictures of my little guy. She was excellent and I highly recommend.”

“Harrah did a wonderful job caring for our two little dogs. She sent me lots of pictures and videos, including ones of their food portions which l thought was a great idea. She was responsive to my questions and it was clear that even my timid dog loved her.”

“Danyel took care of our 2 y/o juvenile Golden. He’s big and bouncy and she managed him well. She took him for daily walks. She may have spoiled him a little but he was well loved while we were gone. She sent us updates several times a day with photos, which was like a dopamine hit for us every day. The house was as clean as we left it when we got home. We’ll definitely use her again.”

“Alexis will always be my go-to cat sitter. She took amazing care of my Persian cat while we were away for 10 days. She followed all instructions carefully and kept me updated regularly with messages and photos. Milo absolutely loved spending time with her. She gave him plenty of cuddles and playtime. She also taught him a trick!! I had complete peace of mind the entire time I was away. I truly appreciate everything Alexis did for my cat.”

“Tess looked after our dog, Lavvy, for five days, making sure to take her on regular neighborhood walks. Tess kept us updated on Lavvy’s activities, and we returned to a well-maintained, orderly house. I would absolutely recommend her.”

About: Always surrounded by animals growing up. I always had 2 dogs, a cat, and a snake. Used to many types of breeds and sizes and comfortable in most situations. Right now I have a very open schedule weekdays and all weekends. I can also work holidays. Any problems with scheduling is always sorted before booking. I live in a small apartment in San Jose. Most of the boarding would likely be short term if necessary. Everything is very safe, and would be puppy proof.
“Estela was very professional and friendly towards our dog. Somehow our dog instantly bonded with her and even though he has separation anxiety, with Estela he was quite comfortable and calm. I would like to request her service again.”

“Elizabeth did a wonderful job caring for our little dog, Coco. She connected well with Coco during our meet and greet. Coco is a bit shy and she warmed to Elizabeth immediately. While we were away, Elizabeth sent us updates of how the two of them were doing. She also took excellent care of our home — leaving things nicer than she found them! I would highly recommend her as a dog and house sitter. We are looking forward to having her back!”

“We absolutely love Carlos! He stepped in with a short notice. Took really good care of shadow. Took him on multiple walks, fed him well and shared updates diligently. We are definitely going to be his repeated clients. Thank you”

“Brandy was ****great, she was responsive and responsible. We have three cats and two dogs, she took the dogs to the park and updated me with pictures and followed instructions correctly. This is the first time I have obtained Brandy services, so far so good. I would definitely use Brandy again in the future.”

“Songjingyun is an amazing pet sitter! She has already watched my puppy for two days, and my puppy is only 9 weeks old, so finding someone I could truly trust was very important to me. She provided exceptional care and attention, and my puppy was genuinely excited to see her the second time — which says a lot. She handled puppy biting thoughtfully, helped reinforce new commands, and was incredibly patient. She also kept me updated throughout the day with messages, photos, and videos, which gave me so much peace of mind. She never minded the messes that come with caring for a young puppy, and at the end of each day she gave me a detailed update on everything — including activities, behavior, and even any small changes she noticed in my puppy’s health. As a first-time puppy parent, I was very nervous about using a dog sitter, but Songjingyun made this experience absolutely wonderful and stress-free. I would 100% trust her with my puppy again and highly recommend her to any pet parent looking for someone reliable, caring, and attentive. Thank you so much, Songjingyun!”

“Grace did a fantastic job! She sent many pictures of the pets, and we were very comfortable and relaxed while she was watching the pets. Grace kept in contact with me frequently, with any questions or concerns. The pets were very happy in the videos that she shared. We will definitely use her again.”

“Joy was absolutely wonderful with our dog! This was our first time having a dog sitter come to our home, and Joy made the experience so comfortable and stress-free. I could tell right away that Skye was treated with so much care and love. Joy kept us updated, took great care of her during walks, and was very attentive and thoughtful. We felt completely at ease knowing Skye was in such good hands. We will definitely be rebooking her in the future and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter! 🥰🐾”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - San Jose
Monica stayed with our 5.5 year old boxer, Fig, for 10 days while we went on a vacation with family. This is the longest time we’ve both been away from him, and we were nervous! Obviously, we shouldn’t have been. We came home to a super happy, healthy dog, and a very nicely kept house. Our biggest worry was that Fig wouldn’t eat while we were away (he gets excited about new people, and has some digestive issues when he puts off eating) but Monica managed to get him to eat well the whole trip! Monica sent a bunch of great photos and videos every day in the evening so that we would see how he was doing, and he was clearly having a ball. She took him on a bunch of very successful walks, even though Fig has some leash reactivity about other dogs, and she took him on a bunch of adventures to go hiking along trails and to the beach! It was really nice to see that Fig was having a fun vacation with Monica while we were on our vacation. Monica is really great about communication, and was super accommodating of requests that we had. She accommodated a friend of ours coming over to the house to use one of the offices as a remote work space during the week, as well as a request from our neighbor pertaining to some hatchling birds she was concerned about. Definitely above and beyond what I would consider required of a dog sitter. Fig clearly had a great time with Monica, and we came home to a healthy dog and a tidy house and we’re very happy with our experience of her as a dog/house sitter, and will be happy to book with her again!

Emily was really helpful and communicative house sitter. We received regular photo updates that put our minds at ease since we were out of country. When we saw our pup Ayla she seemed well adjusted and calmer than when we left her! We will be reaching out in the future to continue working with her in the future and recommend you do as well!

Austin is a very enthusiastic person for pet caring. He communicates very active for usual or unusual discoveries and very experienced in providing good support for our lovely furry family member when we were not home. Our dog loves him and you can feel his great passion when interacting with our dog.

Jamie took great care of my dog and made me feel comfortable while I was away. She was reliable, attentive, kind, patient, and very sweet with him. My dog seemed happy and well cared for, and it gave me peace of mind knowing he was in good hands. I would absolutely book with her again and recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.
We found a gem in Maria! She took special care of our dogs and our home while we were away for a family wedding. We felt comfortable and confident leaving our dogs. Maria was happy to meet with us several times before our scheduled trip; once in the park and twice in our home, which made us feel that much more confident. She sent pictures and anecdotes two or three times a day, which we just loved. We will definitely use Maria again and we recommend her to anyone who needs a terrific dog/house sitter!

Danyel was terrific staying with my rescue Doodle whom I’d only had for 3 weeks so far. She spent the better part of two consecutive days with him, including exercising him in the backyard and feeding him dinner. She is a thoughtful, personable young woman who’s clearly experienced and expert in caring for pets.

Kaili was great! She watched our two large dogs for two nights at our home, and we couldn’t have been happier. Our dogs have a lot of energy and definitely come with their own quirks, but she handled them so well. She kept us updated throughout her stay, was very respectful of our home, and left everything clean and tidy. We would absolutely book with her again. 5/5 stars!

Malia is my house sitter for my cat Yoshi whenever I go on long trips. I always come home to a happy kitty and clean home. My sweet cat needs time to get used to new people, and Malia has been so patient with her. I highly recommend Malia for any cats that need a steady companion.

Sarah is a great dog & house sitter. She was very caring & attentive to my older rescue. She truly is concerned with the safety of the dog in her care. Sarah followed the instructions left for Sydney’s care. She was able to spend a lot of time with Sydney. I received regular photos & updates. Definitely came home to a happy dog & tidy house. Looking forward to book Sarah again. Thank you Great experience 🐶🤗

FAQs for House Sitting - San Jose
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in San Jose on Rover is $59.94 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 3,966 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across San Jose. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred San Jose walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in San Jose maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in San Jose choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
