“CJ was referred to me by my neighbor, who has trusted him for pet sitting for many years and now I understand why. He was punctual, responsible, and provided daily updates. My pets were clearly well cared for, and it was a great relief knowing both my home and animals were in good hands while I was away. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend CJ or use his services again.”

“Molly is fantastic. She has such a sweet and kind demeanor, and was wonderfully attentive to our little puppy. She is reliable and communicative, and sent great updates and photos during her time with us. We’re looking forward to having her back soon!”

“Kimberly took care of my 3 month old puppy today. When I got home my puppy was happy and relaxed. Kimberly fed him and spent time out in the backyard with him. All in all, a great experience!”

“I am so grateful for Ghazaal as she has developed a close bond with my dog Lily. I can always rely on her and know my dog and my home will be well cared for when I am away. ❤️”

“I was really anxious about leaving our pup home for a trip but Devin really did everything to put my mind at ease. He came over multiple times before the stay to make sure Phoebe was comfortable with him. He sent tons of pictures and updates during the stay, took care of her and the house. We don’t leave her alone very often and knowing he was there with her all day really made me feel better about leaving her. We would definitely book Devin again!”

“Lydia did an amazing job. Her experience training dogs came in very handy while she was staying with our pup - she worked with her on some behavior issues and also taught her some new tricks. Penny was very happy.”

About: I provide active, attentive, and structured care for both dogs and cats, with a focus on exercise, comfort, and individualized attention. For dogs, I’m especially a great fit for higher-energy pets that need more activity and engagement. I provide: • 3 daily walks (typically 20 mins to 1 hour each depending on energy level and needs) • A large fenced yard for safe outdoor play and exercise • Plenty of interaction, playtime, and supervision throughout the day I also have extensive experience caring for cats and have raised 5+ cats over the years. For cats that prefer quieter environments or separation from dogs, I have a dedicated empty bedroom available to help them feel safe and relaxed. Additional care I can provide includes: • Brushing and de-shedding • Nail trimming • Basic dental cleaning (if tolerated) • Frequent updates with photos/videos I focus on quality care and take a limited number of pets so I can give each one more attention and a calmer experience. I have a flexible schedule and can accommodate morning, or evening visits. I’m available on both weekdays and weekends, and I can adjust to your cat’s routine to ensure consistency and comfort. I prioritize reliability and will make sure your cat is cared for on time every visit, whether it’s daily check-ins or extended care. I provide a calm, clean, and safe environment and always follow your care instructions closely. I understand that cats can be sensitive to changes, so I focus on minimizing stress and maintaining their normal routine. I’m experienced with handling cats gently, including grooming (brushing, nail trimming, and basic hygiene if your cat allows). I pay close attention to their behavior, appetite, and overall well-being, and I will keep you updated with photos and notes after each visit. Your cat’s safety, comfort, and trust are always my top priorities.
About: I used to volunteer at my local animal shelter, where I spent my free time walking and caring for dogs. I loved getting to know each dog’s unique personality and making sure they got the exercise and attention they needed. I truly miss it, and I’m excited to spend time caring for your pup like they’re my own. (I also love running please let me know if you want me to take your dog on a run!) Free on the weekends! During the week I’m free in the mornings or after work at 3pm! Would love to interact with animals more since I can’t own any in my apartment. I’m very used to big dogs and or aggressive cats it’s very situational but I’m confident I can handle any pet! I don’t offer boarding at my place unfortunately.
“Mia was great with my dogs, including the old and somewhat frail girl. She took great care of them, and they were happy and healthy when we got home. Definitely recommend Mia and would happily hire her again.”
“Sara was SO amazing! She was very attentive to Finny’s care instructions and sent plenty of videos and pictures to put my mind at ease while I was away from my kitty. Finny warmed up to her way faster than he usually does to new people, and she even brought him a new toy! I highly recommend her for house and pet sitting and will definitely be booking her again in the future :)”

About: I grew up with a Belgian Shepherd and later a German Shepherd, both incredible dogs who shaped how I approach animals. From 2007 to 2012 I had a silky terrier, so I know small dog care just as well as larger breeds. I’ve spent time around friends’ and neighbors’ pets over the years, including cats, and I’m comfortable around them. I’m a calm, steady presence with animals, comfortable letting shy pets warm up at their own pace. I treat homes with respect and send daily updates with photos so owners can travel without worry. My work schedule varies week to week, so I confirm exact availability when discussing each booking. On workdays I’m typically out of the home from early morning until early evening, which makes me well suited to cats and easygoing dogs comfortable with a working sitter’s rhythm. Pets get morning feeding and attention before I leave, plus an evening routine with feeding, walks, play, and companionship. I send daily updates with photos throughout the stay. For pets needing midday check ins or constant daytime company, I’m probably not the right fit, but for independent pets I’d love to discuss your dates. Since I only offer care in the client’s home, I treat your space with the same respect I give my own. I follow your routines exactly, keep things clean and tidy, and leave the home in the same condition I found it. I’m a non smoker, do not bring guests over, and stay focused on caring for your pet. I send daily updates with photos so you know your pet is doing well. If anything seems off with your pet’s behavior or health, I reach out to you right away and follow your guidance. My goal is for you to come home to a happy pet and a home exactly as you left it.
“We've used a handful of house sitters from Rover and Klara is by far our favorite. She keeps the house neat, sends plenty of photos, takes the dogs for walks. We always use Klara when she's available! Having a trusted person at home while we're traveling means one less thing to worry about. Thanks Klara for all your help over the last year!”

“There’s no one I’d trust my shy little pup with more than Katie. She was patient, professional, and thoughtful when house sitting with our dog. She even cleaned while she was there! We wish we could keep her all to ourselves! I would recommend her to anyone with a shy dog.”

“Jenna is fabulous! Very sweet, great with our doggie, independent, patient, and endured a less than ideal sit with fleas, alarms going off, storms, etc. Jenna is good problem-solver and very aware. We highly recommend her!! And we will have her back another time!”

“We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Shannon! We live in an RV fulltime, and wanted to take a quick trip without the RV. I was so grateful to learn that Shannon is very knowledgeable on RV living. She took great care of our dogs, cat, and RV while we were gone. She was easy to contact, came for a meet and greet, showed up on time, kept me updated with text and photos, and left our home cleaner than we left it. I would absolutely use her again when we come through the area.”
“Arianna was really receptive to Willow's needs and very communicative. We really appreciate that she went above and beyond to give Willow company and to make her comfortable. She was also a terrific and considerate house guest. We recommend her wholeheartedly to other pet owners!”

Elise was absolutely amazing, and really happy that we connected on this app. Not only did she send lots of photos but we also came home to a spotless home. Elise is a very kind, and communicative sitter and we couldn't recommend her highly enough. Thank you again for taking care of our babies Elise

We could not be happier with the incredible care our dog received from Holly! Leaving a pet behind is always tough, but we were completely at ease knowing they were in such loving, capable hands. Why We Highly Recommend Holly: 1. Fantastic Communication: We received daily updates and the cutest photo updates, which completely set our minds at ease. 2. True Animal Lover: It’s incredibly clear how much Holly genuinely care about animals. Our dog was treated like a member of her own family. 3. Professional & Reliable: Extremely punctual, highly responsible, and followed all of our specific feeding and routine instructions perfectly. Our dog is happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved. We will absolutely be booking again for our next trip. If you want peace of mind while you're away, look no further!

CJ is the best! He takes such great care of our older golden, Jack. He communicates every day so we know that Jack is getting out for walks, getting fed, and playing lots of ball. He also managed the house chores and cleaned up really well after the long stay. We highly recommend him!

Kimberly watched over our house and our very active, 2 year old Australian Shepherd for a week. During the week we were away Kimberly was very communicative, texting and sending pictures or videos every day. Our dog was well cared for, got great exercise and socialization. We returned to a house that was clean, neat and also well cared for. We highly recommend Kimberly.

Jeanette took exceptional care of Bella while we were out of the country for two weeks. She treated Bella as if she were her own, followed her routine carefully, and kept us updated regularly with messages and photos. Knowing Bella was in such caring and capable hands gave us complete peace of mind, so we were able to truly enjoy our trip without worrying. Jeanette also went above and beyond by collecting our mail and watering our houseplants, which we really appreciated. When we returned, Bella was happy, healthy, and clearly very comfortable with Jeanette. In fact, Bella seemed to miss her after she left, which speaks volumes about the wonderful bond they formed during those two weeks. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and would absolutely trust Jeanette with Bella again

Amber did a great job of taking care of our dog when we were out of town for almost 2 weeks. She was prompt, followed our instructions, and kept us updated. Our dog usually goes on a hunger strike with sitters but we came back home to a well-fed and calm and content dog and a clean house. We’re very grateful to Amber for taking such good care of our pup.

Mica took wonderful care of our German Shepherd! She sent us great photos, took him on some nice walks, and kept us updated with excellent communication. We would absolutely book with Mica again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful dog sitter!

Amy is the find of the century! She is so thoughtful and thorough. She gave all the updates and the pictures, and our pup looked so happy throughout it all. We will definitely be using her services again as should anyone who wants a responsible and communicative sitter!

Is there a 6-star option? There should be! Stephen did an excellent job of caring for my dog and my house. From the pre-stay visit, to the gentle and appropriate reminders, detailed notes, and the charming and informative daily updates. Bonus: new skills and tricks were learned by my pooch! Stephen's gentle and calm approach -- superb!

Cynthia did a great job taking care of Mabel over a 10 day trip. She was respectful of our place and left everything as it was once we got back. We got timely updates and did lots of activities with our pup who has a lot of energy. Would love to book her again in the future

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Mountain View on Rover is $78.14 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mountain View walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mountain View maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mountain View choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mountain View. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
