“Cordigen has looked after our two dogs 5 times this month, with the most recent visit being an all day plus evening care. She has proven to be the caregiver we hoped for. She is loving to the dogs, responsible, responsive and sends us updates during and after her visits. It is such a privilege to have a caregiver we trust, so we can focus on and enjoy activities away from our pets. We have appreciated her flexibility when our schedules have been in flux, as well as covering a last minute need. We plan to continue to request her services for all our pet caregiving needs.”

“Ian is absolutely the BEST!! They are so kind and considerate, send the best photos of the dogs and you can really tell they love what they do! Ian goes well above and beyond as well! Not only were my pups well cared for and relaxed when we got home, but the house was spotless and they even did the sheets and made the bed so we didn’t have to when we got home! Cannot wait to book again!!”

About: I have my own 7 year old corgi whom I love to take on social outings, and have always wanted to own a ranch to foster dogs and other animals. for now, this will do🤓 I enjoy popping in to see my friends’ dogs while they’re at work to take them out for potty breaks & play, and watching my friends’ dogs when they go on trips~ Currently on a 3 month LOA from my nursing job, but am planning on taking a break afterwards due to burnout. Because of that I’m flexible and able to adjust to whatever needs pets may have! Currently I wake up, walk Toast (my corgi), hangout with him for a bit and then run errands if there are any. I can then pop in for a drop in/walk elsewhere (and bring toast too possibly)! He’s an integral part of my life so he’s always involved if he can be! My husband is an anesthesia MD resident at Stanford so he’s often at the hospital with long hours — all that to say he’s not very high maintenance as well so I have more wiggle room with my schedule :) I love dogs, and will always treat yours like I treat mine :) Will leave Toast at home if your dog is not up for socializing, but can also bring Toast if your dog needs some doggie time.

“Victoria was fantastic with Piggy and Toast. She was kind, reliable, a great communicator, and sent us lovely photo updates while we were away. The dogs clearly adored her, and we came home to an incredibly tidy house. We’re so happy we found her and would absolutely book her again!”

“Kimberly is absolutely amazing! She’s responsible, professional, and incredibly loving. This was my first time using Rover, and knowing John was in such good hands gave me so much peace of mind as an anxious dog parent. I will definitely book with her again!”

“MJ, with only a one day notice provided excellent house sitting services for my 2 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. Sherman is also a large and strong GSP and MJ handled him with such delicate and professional care. MJ went above and beyond to provide training, and improved Shermans leash aggression. I just can't say enough about how grateful I am that Rover has such quality people like MJ. I feel like I found my Rover. Can't wait to book again.”

About: I’ve had the joy of owning and caring for both dogs and cats over the years, giving me hands on experience with pets of different ages, personalities, and needs. I understand that every pet is unique, and I always strive to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. With dogs, I have experience raising one since he was a puppy, so I’m familiar with the patience, consistency, and attention they need as they grow. I have experience with daily walks, maintaining feeding schedules, and keeping dogs safe during walks by being mindful of things like hot pavement with this summer weather. Additionally, I taught my dog fun tricks including “sit” and “paw,” which Im willing to teach if wanted. I have even more experience with cats, having cared for my own cat for over three years as well as multiple kittens and stray cats. Through this experience, I’ve learned to recognize their different personalities, respect their boundaries, and provide the care and affection they need to feel comfortable. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, or simply having someone to keep them company, I’ll treat them with the same care and attention I’d give my own pets. My goal is for both you and your furry family member to feel comfortable, confident, and worry free while you’re apart. I have a very flexible schedule this summer, which means I’m available for bookings throughout the whole week! Feel free to reach out anytime as I’d love to help care for your furry family members whenever you need a reliable sitter or walker. Please feel free to let me know before I care for your pet if you have any special requests, routines, or precautions you’d like me to follow. My goal is to make sure your pet feels as safe, comfortable, and loved as possible while you’re away. For example, if they don’t like being petted in certain areas, have specific feeding or medication schedules, need extra patience around new people or other animals, have favorite toys or walking routes, or have any other unique preferences, I’d be more than happy to accommodate them. Every pet is different, and I’m committed to providing the personalized care they deserve.
About: Hi, I’m Dawn and I have been a pet parent for over 25 years to rabbits, guinea pigs and 4 dogs with 2 of them of senior age. All 4 dogs were raised since they were puppies and they are currently based in my hometown with my parents when I moved here. My intuition and experience allow me to provide your pet with the best care and most comfortable environment away from home, so rest assured that they are in good hands. Let’s chat! I’m mostly available during weekdays from 7am to 12 midnight and certain weekends. Date and timings can be further discussed if you require my services. I have a balcony at home and have space available for your pet to roam around freely if needed. Happy to chat more to see what else you’ll require
“Guilherme took care of our dog and cat during the Christmas and new years holiday. He sent many updates with photos, helped bring the garbage bins inside and collect mail and left our home more organized than when we left. Highly recommend and definitely hope to use his services again when we travel. Thanks Guilherme!”

“Trina took care of Xander and Teal over the holidays. So grateful to her for taking such good care of my babies, especially giving Xander his meds which is a tough job. She is responsible, caring, clean and loving. Would trust her with my babies any day!”
“Brittney was fantastic! The two casts we have were relaxed and happy when we got home. Brittany sent many pictures and really enjoys spending time with cats as she regaled me stories of their fun weekend together. Brittany also left the house spotless.”

“Fang was amazing! Our dog Annie is a recent rescue and is still really anxious about new people and things. Fang went out of her way to meet with Annie multiple times before she watched her, and gave Annie the time and space to really warm up to her. She was so wonderfully patient with Annie. We knew she was in good hands when we left - and Fang sent us plenty of photos which helped reassure us that Annie was doing ok while we were gone. Annie clearly had a great time!”

“Virginia was amazing with our dog, Lily! She was very communicative, sending updates and pictures throughout the stay. She also treated our home with care and respect. Would definitely have her back and recommend her to anybody as a sitter!”

“Arianna cares about my dogs and she even got new toys for my dogs during her stay. It’s easy to communicate with her and my dogs look extremely happy when I get back home.”

Vivian is wonderful!!!! She took amazing care of my dogs and took them on adventures every day and gave them lots of love. (My dogs weren't even that excited to have me back haha). She sent pictures, videos, and updates every day, which was so helpful and reassuring. She took excellent care of our dogs and our house. Our house was in a bit of a state of chaos when we left, but thanks to Vivian, I came back to a clean and organized house, complete with a bouquet of flowers, a lovely note, and homemade matcha chia pudding 🥹
This was the first time Stephanie stayed with my dog. Stephanie has a calm demeanor and clearly is experienced in dog-sitting, based on the observations and good questions she asked. She stayed for the evening, and I was able to relax and enjoy my event with great confidence that my dog would be safe and well loved. I have already booked her for my next need. Thank you Stephanie.

Maria was great. I believe this was our third booking with her, and we will certainly book again. She is very sweet with our dog and our dog loves her. Maria is very communicative and reached out well in advance to let us know her plans had changed as we had booked her fairly far in advance. She takes great care of our house. We feel secure leaving our beloved pup and our house with Maria to care for.

Austin was phenomenal! Super communicative and helpful. I am so grateful for his excellent care of our 2 corgis. This was our first time using a sitter who wasn’t family, and Austin made the experience so easy from the initial meet and greet through the end of the sit. I will definitely book again the next time we travel!

Kendall is terrific. She cares and connected quickly with my pup. She is conscientious, offered to come and meet my dog before the visit. She asked questions about emergency plans, feeding, medications and her best schedule. She was tidy, punctual and helpful, even sending me photos and relaying my dogs attitude and energy level throughout her stay. I highly recommend Kendall - 5 stars!

We had an excellent experience with Julie and would highly recommend her. Her communication was outstanding from start to finish, and we appreciated the daily photos and updates that kept us informed and reassured while we were away. Julie was punctual, dependable, and clearly cared for our dog as if it were her own. We also returned to a spotless home, which was such a wonderful bonus after traveling. We wouldn't hesitate to book with Julie again!

Jaya was super accomodating and flexible with the dates. My dog Mila was super comfortable with her. Jaya had excellent communication and took great pics, kept regular updates. I was able to travel with peace of mind, so I will continue booking with her again for sure!

Rachel was wonderful housesitting our very senior kitty. Her reports were not only very detailed but also full of love and warmth for our kitty. We also really appreciate that she is comfortable giving medications and keeping an eye out for basic senior issues. This is the first time we’ve left our 19 yr old kitty in a year, but we knew he was in great hands with Rachel. We can’t recommend her enough.

This is the first time we have used Adam. He helped us over night and was so good with our dog Bailey. He was very attentive to all her needs. He sent many pictures which meant alot because we knew she was in good hands. We will definitely book him the next time we need him.
Jessica did dog sitting for your 14 month energetic puppy (Cherry) and house sat as well. She was a pro at helping with the Cherry's playing, walking and all the schedule, including morning, afternoon, evening walks and other craziness. Cherry was so happy with her. She house sat in addition to pet sitting and left the house in immaculate condition. 5 stars!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Palo Alto walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Palo Alto maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Palo Alto choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
