“Marion was very responsive, sent updates of my dog while we were gone, and was respectful of our home! I definitely felt comfortable my dog was in good hands which helps when you’re away from home❤️”

“Ian is absolutely the BEST!! They are so kind and considerate, send the best photos of the dogs and you can really tell they love what they do! Ian goes well above and beyond as well! Not only were my pups well cared for and relaxed when we got home, but the house was spotless and they even did the sheets and made the bed so we didn’t have to when we got home! Cannot wait to book again!!”

“Vivian is an absolute gem - book her and you won't go wrong! We can't say enough good things about Vivian. She stayed at our house for over three weeks while we were away at our daughter's wedding, and she took care of everything like it was her own home. Organized, responsible, and clearly cares deeply about animals - she is a genuine dog whisperer. Our dog Duke absolutely loved her. He's usually a bit particular about new people, but Vivian won him over almost instantly and kept him happy, comfortable, and on routine the entire time we were gone. The level of care and communication throughout the three weeks gave us total peace of mind during our big family event. And as if that weren't enough, she baked us cookies for when we got home - an incredibly thoughtful touch that really says everything about who she is! Top notch, first rate, A+++. We'll be sure to book Vivian for our trips going forward and we recommend her without reservation.”

“Guilherme took care of our dog and cat during the Christmas and new years holiday. He sent many updates with photos, helped bring the garbage bins inside and collect mail and left our home more organized than when we left. Highly recommend and definitely hope to use his services again when we travel. Thanks Guilherme!”

About: I have been around and cared for animals for as long as I can remember! In the past I have worked at a pet care and boarding facility for over four years and I have four pets of my own. Constantly being around animals has taught me a lot and I am committed to continue learning . I am comfortable handling any breed of dog, energy levels , and size. Older dogs that might need medication are also no problem. I am willing to adapt and learn how to best care for your animals. My biggest goal is building trust with and your fur baby and providing the best care possible. I currently work fully remote so my schedule is very flexible and I am available when needed! I can also be very flexible on the weekends and can accept last minute bookings. When taking care of your baby my biggest goal is to gain their trust and do all the fun things you would normally do. I would love the opportunity to take care of your pets and shower them with love. I work fully remote so my schedule is very flexible, especially after 5pm I can accept more bookings. On the weekends I am completely open and accept last minute bookings. When in your home, I would really enjoy playing your pets, taking them on walks, and anything that you recommend doing that you know they would really enjoy. Making sure they are comfortable and happy is my biggest priority.
About: Hello! I’m Samaria and I am old to dog-sitting but new to Rover. I’ve loved dogs my whole life so I thought I’ve taken any opportunity to dogsit growing up. I’ve lived in Redwood City my whole life and have cared for my older sister’s four active dogs (three huskies and one terrier mix) whenever she’s out of town, for years (recently for 10 days straight?. I have taken them on walks, checked on the house and stayed overnight when there were fireworks to keep them calm. I’d love to give peace of mind to busy families and make a new fur friend. I’m very flexible and looking forward to meeting new puppers! If you have any questions or want to talk about any specifications, message me! I work full time remote so I walk, feed, and play with the dogs in breaks and even after my virtual work hours. Depending on the needs of the dog, I’ll move thing around. I am available to home sit, do check-ins, or just daily walks. I do not have a reserved space in my home that fits more dogs.
“Chelsea is incredibly responsive, reliable, and easy to communicate with. It’s obvious she genuinely loves animals, and she took excellent care of my fur babies while I was away. I had complete peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. I highly recommend her and would absolutely book with her again!”

“Amazing pet sitter! I had a last minute trip and was scrambling to find a sitter. Lauren sent daily photos and took great care of my pets and my home. Will definitely contact again!”

“We cannot say enough about Julie Mae. She takes such great care of our Munchi that we are just so relaxed going away, and that is such a gift. We also see how much Munchi loves Julie Mae. Thank you so much for showing Munchi such love and kindness.”

“Ciara is amazing. She has done a couple of house stays with my fairly anxious dog, and each time I came home to a happy pup and a spotless house. She follows every instruction carefully, handles quirks with ease, and leaves almost no trace that she was here, other than a very well-cared-for dog. This was my first time using a sitter outside of family, and Ciara gave me total peace of mind. Most importantly, it’s clear how much she genuinely cares for the pets she looks after. Highly recommend!”

“Octavia is awesome. She house-sat for us for 2.5 days. It was the first time our dog had stayed without us and he is really anxious. Octavia kept working to get him comfortable, cooked for him, sent us updates constantly and was really flexible in adjusting things to keep him less anxious. Our go-to person for Dudley!”

“Dana was a fantastic sitter and is very communicative. Ceara was calm and relaxed when we got home. The house was immaculate. I would highly recommend her if for overnight sitting.”

About: We’re an engaged couple living in East Palo Alto and looking for more opportunities to spend quality time with animals! We’ve been trusted dog and cat sitters for friends and family for years, and recently decided to give Rover a try. We’d love to provide your pet with extra love, attention, and care while you’re away or taking some time for yourself. We can’t wait to meet your furry family member! 🐾 One of our favorite things to do is go on walks together. We always joke and say we’re meant to have a pet, and we probably will have our own one day. We walk daily during our lunch breaks and each evening after work. We’d love to take your pet with us and explore new neighborhoods! We live in a house with a private fenced backyard. We have no pets or kids in our house and we plan to take care of one pet/family at a time so we can give them our full attention and make sure they are comfortable.
“Angelica was efficient, friendly and very loving to our two Brittneys. One is young with lots of energy and one is old and is more sedentary and she balanced their needs perfectly. I loved that she sent many pictures. It made our time away from our home care free! Happy to act as a reference for her! Jan”

“Virginia was amazing with our dog, Lily! She was very communicative, sending updates and pictures throughout the stay. She also treated our home with care and respect. Would definitely have her back and recommend her to anybody as a sitter!”

“It was a pleasure having Sam watch our pups and would love to have her back! She was great about sending daily photo updates and confirming if our dogs’ quirks were normal/expected.”

“She answered my last-minute request and took care of our two large German shepherds and one tiny dog perfectly - our dogs immediately fell in love with her, and usually they are an annoying, noisy bunch, but they behaved chill. Thank you so so much for taking care of them and I'd love to ask you to take care of them again.”

This was the first time we left our fur babies with someone. I was nervous and so were they. Yi's communication was thoughtful and informative. She dealt with me as a helicopter dog mom very well and she was even better to our babies. We will surely be seeing more of Yi, Daze and Debo gave four paws up!

Silvana took the job fairly last minute and we are so grateful. She was communicative and came over to meet Emmy, our golden doodle, before the weekend. She sent videos and pictures throughout the weekend and took great care of our pup. Would definitely hire her again!

Vivian is an absolute gem - book her and you won't go wrong! We can't say enough good things about Vivian. Hannah is amazing! Not only the best dog walker/visitor/overnight pet sitter, but she really understands pets needs, is always looking out for any issues, is incredible patient at training and teaching new things, and really cares so much about her furry clients - as well as the owners. Just got back from 5 days of Hannah staying with my Delilah and of course my dog has never been taken care of better and my house was spotless, cleaned from top to bottom. Delilah super happy, Im super happy. She is the best!

Kimberly goes above and beyond for my pets every single time. She has grown to be very close to my cat, and all of his typical “moms out of town behaviors” are subdued with Kimberly. She takes fabulous care of any pets, she communicates well, and she is reliable. 100000/10 recommend

Marisol provided excellent care for my dog while my wife and I were away! She was highly personable and responsible. I received updates regularly and she even was willing to pick up a package of mine that was delivered away from my apartment. She left the place very clean and I would happily book again.

Holly was so fantastic! She had an immediate connection and appreciation and sense for our dog you can only get if you're truly a dog person and have been one for a long time. She was very respectful of the house, sent us lovely updates without our asking, and is a very nice person. We felt very comfortable with leaving our dog and house in her care. You should, too!

Alexa took excellent care of my cat while I was away. My cat has separation anxiety and can't be left alone. I needed someone at the last minute and she took the job. She communicated well, shared lots of cute pictures and videos, and I could tell my cat loved her. Would definitely hire her again!

We had an excellent experience with Julie and would highly recommend her. Her communication was outstanding from start to finish, and we appreciated the daily photos and updates that kept us informed and reassured while we were away. Julie was punctual, dependable, and clearly cared for our dog as if it were her own. We also returned to a spotless home, which was such a wonderful bonus after traveling. We wouldn't hesitate to book with Julie again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Fair Oaks walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Fair Oaks maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Fair Oaks choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
