“Vivian is very responsive and took good care of out cats when we are away. She also took a lot of good pictures for our cats in the notes. I will strongly recommend Vivian to all nearby pet owners :)”

About: Hello, my name is Austin. I grew up on a farm in Ohio and have taken care of many pets over the years including my favorites- cats and dogs! I’m new to the Menlo Park area and would love to provide any help I can for you and your pet’s needs. I can occasionally provide morning services, but my best availability is after 2pm on weekdays! Please feel free to reach out though if you have any unique schedule needs :) My lease does not allow me to care for any pets at my home, but I am more than happy to take care of your pets and abide by any rules or requirements you have for me.
“This was the second time Morgan watched my cats and I felt at peace with them in her care. Her communication is excellent. My very shy cat even warmed up to her! She’s fantastic.”

About: I've had dogs my whole life. I grew up with a German Shorthaired Pointer named Shaft who made me a life long lover of dogs. At 18 I brought home my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Tsar, and raised him from a puppy. He's 9 now and very much my child. Two years ago we added Goose, a goofy, high-energy golden retriever who keeps us both on our toes. I'm very comfortable handling large, strong dogs, but I have a real soft spot for the little ones too. I pay close attention to body language and respect dogs as animals first, which helps me read how they're feeling and keep them calm and safe. I know your pets are family, and I'll care for them the same way I care for mine. I previously worked part time as a product designer, and I'm now looking to spend more of my time doing something that genuinely makes me happy. My weekdays are open and flexible, so I have plenty of time to dedicate to your pups. Dogs have always been a big part of my daily life, between walks, playtime, and keeping up with my own two, so pet care fits right in. Your pups will get the attention, exercise, and company they deserve. I care for dogs the way I care for my own, with a steady routine and plenty of attention. My dogs start the day with a walk, then settle for 15 to 20 minutes before eating to help avoid digestion issues. I never leave the house without a bag of treats, and every walk doubles as a mini training session. I let dogs explore and sniff to their heart's content while still working on leash manners, and I'm happy to reinforce whatever training you're working on. Whether I'm caring for a dog in my home or yours, I'll gladly follow the routine you've already set up for your pet.
“Thank you for all your support while I was away. Your care for Lola went above and beyond my expectations and it gave me enormous peace of mind knowing she was in good hands :)”

“Amber was fantastic. I came home to a happy and healthy pup. She was a good communicator, left detailed recaps of her visits, and took great photos! I will definitely call on Amber again the next time I have to go out of town.”

About: I've been surrounded by animals for as long as I can remember! Growing up, my family had two dogs and two cats, and today I'm a proud cat mom to two wonderful kitties. Having spent so much of my life caring for pets, I've learned that every animal has its own unique personality, preferences, and needs. I understand how to make cats feel comfortable, whether they're playful and affectionate or shy and independent. As a pet parent myself, I know how important it is to find someone you can truly trust with your furry family members. I'm happy to help with feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning, playtime, and plenty of cuddles (if your cat enjoys them!). I'll treat your pets like my own and send regular photo updates so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule, which allows me to easily fit pet care into my daily routine. I'm available for drop-in visits on both weekdays and weekends, and I'm happy to accommodate your cat's feeding schedule and specific needs. As a cat owner myself, I understand how important it is to feel confident that your pet is in good hands. I'll always respect your cat's routine, personality, and personal space. I'll make sure they have fresh food and water, a clean litter box, and plenty of attention. I'm also happy to send photos and updates during every visit so you can have peace of mind while you're away.
About: I've been around animals for as long as I can remember, starting with Ginger, my family's German shepherd and husky mix, and four cats growing up. I later spent about two years volunteering at my local SPCA, working hands-on with dogs of every size and temperament, from bouncy puppies to nervous rescues. I've also had cats of my own as an adult, including two rescues, and fostered kittens before I started traveling. Since then I've cared for pets through farm stays and housesits across Costa Rica, Panama, Spain, and Canada — dogs, cats, chickens, goats, even an adult pet rat. I'm comfortable administering medication, working with anxious or senior animals, and managing multi-pet households. I'm calm, attentive, and treat every home and animal I look after like my own. I'm currently transitioning to the San Mateo County area temporarily starting early November and building my schedule around pet care full-time, so I have plenty of flexibility for house sits, and daily visits, including extended or last-minute stays. I don't currently have a conflicting 9-to-5, which means I can commit fully to a pet's normal routine for the length of a booking rather than fitting care in around other work. Since I focus on house sitting, I stay at your home rather than asking your pet to adjust to a new environment. I follow feeding, medication, and walking routines exactly as instructed, keep the house clean and secure, and send regular photo updates so you can relax while you're away. I don't bring other pets into the home, so your animal gets my full attention for the whole stay.

“My cat does not like it when we have to leave town so naturally I am always hesitant to have someone watch her. Marcella was great, her caring nature put my cat at ease; my cat does not get close to everyone, but as seen in photos she did with Marcela. I definitely would use her again. I feel like I found a great sitter!”

About: My husband and I live in a quiet area in the Hills of Redwood City and we love pets. We have a small 13 year old poodle mix who gets along very well with people and other dogs. We have a nice size home and yard where any dog will feel comfortable and enjoy spending time. Why I love dog sitting I have loved dogs all my life, but mostly enjoyed dogs of friends and family members until we finally decided to get our own dog. His name is Dusty and he is now 13 old. He is a sweetheart. We are experienced former cat owners as well and would love the opportunity to provide our services to cat owners as well. Meet my pets a small poodle mix. About my yard We have a nice size fenced yard, partially shady, lots of trees, very quiet setting. This is where our dog likes to spend much of his time during the day. My experience administering medication Yes, I am a registered nurse and have no problem with medications including injections My availability I am available 7 days a week unless we happen to go on vacation. I have a flexible part time schedule working from home and therefore have time to give lots of attention to your pup. We generally only accept one dog at a time so we can give them all the attention they need. We offer doggy day care in our home or drop in visits in your home. We have a fenced yard and my own very friendly small poodle mix who gets along with all dogs.
“Jas was a great sitter for our two dogs and cat! Communication was great and consistent, and we always got the cutest photos sent over. The pets were very well taken care of and we highly recommend booking Jas.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - North Fair Oaks
Rachel is amazing! She is super responsible, organized, kind and flexible. Did everything we needed and then some. She even left a little gift for our daughter to find after we got back from vacation — an incredibly thoughtful touch and super appreciated. Would highly recommend!

Morgan is attentive and communicative. I really appreciate her updates and photos. My cats love cuddling up to her and I just know they are in great hands! Plus when there was an unexpected service team at the house, she was professional and handled the situation well. Would absolutely rebook and recommend!

Nina and Leo are awesome, caring cat sitters. My 3 cats are not used to being around other people. Nina and Leo went more than the extra yard to help them feel comfortable while I was away, especially with my most nervous cat with special feeding needs. They were able to calm her down, hold her, feed her, and were rewarded when she showered them with special purrs, slow eye blinks, and other kitty signs of affection. They also did a great job communicating with me during their visits and in between, as I sent them updates based on kitty cam activity. I am thrilled to have found them and look forward to having them back again. Thank you Nina and Leo

Linnea was great! She was on time for our Meet & Greet, asked great questions about my cat Rhys, and maintained great communication before and during the drop-in visits. I appreciate that she took time to get to know Rhys and his cute little personality. And also all the photos I received while I was away! I came back to a happy cat and my home just as clean as I left it. Thank you again Linnea!

Jenna did an amazing job taking care of our cat Maddy for two weeks while we were away. Everything went super smoothly, and she was great with our shy cat, who warmed up to her very quickly. Jenna was very communicative, always on time, and sent us plenty of messages and photos. We would definitely have her back to take care of Maddy again. Thanks for everything Jenna!

Julie Mae is the absolute BEST!! She always goes above and beyond for us and our sweet cat Kinsie. She sends lots of pictures, takes extra good care of her, gives her lots of cuddles and love while we’re gone, takes care of litter, food, and water, and even helps with trash/vacuum of the litter! We know Kinsie is always in such good hands with Julie Mae and she will always be our go to :)

Teagan took great care of our cat as always! His tail was so high up in the photos. You can tell he's always super happy to see Teagan. She was really observant and noticed his cat door had an issue and went out of her way to let us know. We really appreciate knowing he's well cared for while we're away!

Once again, Yifan was great with my cat Rhys! I appreciate her attention to detail and her thorough report cards! I enjoyed reading them each evening while away and seeing photos of Rhys. Thank you again Yifan for your thoughtful care of both Rhys and my place!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
