“Guilherme took care of our dog and cat during the Christmas and new years holiday. He sent many updates with photos, helped bring the garbage bins inside and collect mail and left our home more organized than when we left. Highly recommend and definitely hope to use his services again when we travel. Thanks Guilherme!”

“It was a pleasure having Sam watch our pups and would love to have her back! She was great about sending daily photo updates and confirming if our dogs’ quirks were normal/expected.”

“Shannon filled in at the last minute and did a wonderful job. My huskies are full of energy and she managed them beautifully. I really appreciate her flexibility and willingness to take on my dogs without a prior introduction. I will be booking her again, for sure!!”

“Kelly was absolutely wonderful with Bidu! From the moment they met, he instantly warmed up to her, which gave us so much peace of mind. She carefully followed all of our instructions and kept us updated with frequent messages and photos. The sweetest part was when we met her the next day to hand off our key. Bidu was overjoyed to see her again, and that truly said it all. We knew our boy was in excellent hands with Kelly, and we wholeheartedly recommend her!”

About: I have grown up taking care of my family yellow lab Hobie since I was 10 years old, as well as dog walked/dog sat for friends and other families in my neighborhood. The age of the dog and any special care needed is not something I shy away from. Other Experience: - Dog walker with my sister when we were younger - house sitting with dogs I am currently home from college for the summer until September due to being on quarter system. I have open availability right now and am very flexible with scheduling needs. I live in a cul-de-sac back home, with a fenced backyard with grass, as well as a front yard where my dog can easily play, pee, or sunbathe during the Spring and Summer. I live next to downtown as well as multiple creek trails. Whether it’s going on walks with dogs or staying inside keeping cats company and time to socialize and play, are all environments I enjoy being in.
“Tiana is so great! She followed all of my instructions. She’s communicates very well and consistently sends me updates as well. I’ll will be using her for walk and dog sit Zeus!”

“Amy is the best dog sitter we could have asked for. I pride myself on how much I take my dogs on adventures but Amy even surpassed what I do for my own dog! Amy took my dog on numerous wonderful adventures while sending me amazing pictures from their adventures. When Amy left she left a gorgeous hand drawn picture of our dog. I recommend Amy to anyone with a pet that they like and want to leave in good hands. 5 stars. A+ dog sitting! Will hire again!”

“10/10! Rosalva was great with our two dogs, and they can be a handful (reactive to other dogs and new people). After several meet & greets, we felt confident leaving the dogs in her care for an extended trip. And when we got home, the pups were happy & healthy and our home was just as we left it. Highly recommend!”

“Chelsea is incredibly responsive, reliable, and easy to communicate with. It’s obvious she genuinely loves animals, and she took excellent care of my fur babies while I was away. I had complete peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. I highly recommend her and would absolutely book with her again!”

“This was my first time using Rover, and I was very nervous about having someone house sit my 2 cats. Danielle came over after work and they went right over to her! She was incredibly kind, has a very sweet demeanor and I was able to get married and not be worrying about my fur babies at home. We look forward to having her over again:)”

“Octavia is awesome. She house-sat for us for 2.5 days. It was the first time our dog had stayed without us and he is really anxious. Octavia kept working to get him comfortable, cooked for him, sent us updates constantly and was really flexible in adjusting things to keep him less anxious. Our go-to person for Dudley!”

“Marion was very responsive, sent updates of my dog while we were gone, and was respectful of our home! I definitely felt comfortable my dog was in good hands which helps when you’re away from home❤️”

“Bryan is great! Very chill, easy to communicate with, sends plenty of pics while they are out and about! We’ve already been a repeat customer as we come home to a very happy girl, we know she’s in good hands. I’m sure BK will be seeing Bryan again soon!”

“Perfect house sitter/cat sitter. Elvira is a wonderful find. She Is communicative, understood and followed a five step feeding routine, and our kitty Loves her. She went above and beyond and we couldn’t be happier with her. Highly recommend!”

“Mia was amazing! We have a very senior dog who needs some help and Mia was awesome. She sent us pictures regularly and kept in close communication the whole time. Our dog was happy and relaxed when we got home; place looked great; plants watered - I only hope she’s available when we go out of town again! Happy dog = happy life! 🐶❤️😊”

“We cannot say enough about Julie Mae. She takes such great care of our Munchi that we are just so relaxed going away, and that is such a gift. We also see how much Munchi loves Julie Mae. Thank you so much for showing Munchi such love and kindness.”

“Darya was amazing! She sent me multiple daily updates with photos. The animals loved her right away which was very reassuring and she left my house very clean and even stripped the sheets! I will be using her again.”

Silvana took the job fairly last minute and we are so grateful. She was communicative and came over to meet Emmy, our golden doodle, before the weekend. She sent videos and pictures throughout the weekend and took great care of our pup. Would definitely hire her again!

Anne continues to be a reliable and responsible sitter for our dog JoJo. Anne is great at communicating and updating, and she spent lots of time and attention playing with JoJo, giving her dinner, and taking her for an evening walk. I came home to a happy and easygoing pup after her time with Anne!

Vivian is an absolute gem - book her and you won't go wrong! We can't say enough good things about Vivian. She stayed at our house for over three weeks while we were away at our daughter's wedding, and she took care of everything like it was her own home. Organized, responsible, and clearly cares deeply about animals - she is a genuine dog whisperer. Our dog Duke absolutely loved her. He's usually a bit particular about new people, but Vivian won him over almost instantly and kept him happy, comfortable, and on routine the entire time we were gone. The level of care and communication throughout the three weeks gave us total peace of mind during our big family event. And as if that weren't enough, she baked us cookies for when we got home - an incredibly thoughtful touch that really says everything about who she is! Top notch, first rate, A+++. We'll be sure to book Vivian for our trips going forward and we recommend her without reservation.

I have never left our crew for this long before, and Hadil made me feel very confident to do so. She is a smart, caring, and resourceful woman who shared updates and kept everyone happy and safe while we were gone. In addition to the cats, she also cared for our barn animals as well. My elderly in-laws, who live on the property, enjoyed visiting with her as a person and told me that I most definitely made the right choice!
Genny was fantastic. She gave our dog 10-star care in the most loving and capable way as we dealt with a medical issue. We were so grateful to have Genny taking care of Sasha. She sent photos and videos, texted and called us with updates. Genny took great care of the house too.

Maria was great. I believe this was our third booking with her, and we will certainly book again. She is very sweet with our dog and our dog loves her. Maria is very communicative and reached out well in advance to let us know her plans had changed as we had booked her fairly far in advance. She takes great care of our house. We feel secure leaving our beloved pup and our house with Maria to care for.

Kimberly goes above and beyond for my pets every single time. She has grown to be very close to my cat, and all of his typical “moms out of town behaviors” are subdued with Kimberly. She takes fabulous care of any pets, she communicates well, and she is reliable. 100000/10 recommend

Marisol provided excellent care for my dog while my wife and I were away! She was highly personable and responsible. I received updates regularly and she even was willing to pick up a package of mine that was delivered away from my apartment. She left the place very clean and I would happily book again.

Alexa took excellent care of my cat while I was away. My cat has separation anxiety and can't be left alone. I needed someone at the last minute and she took the job. She communicated well, shared lots of cute pictures and videos, and I could tell my cat loved her. Would definitely hire her again!

Austin was phenomenal! Super communicative and helpful. I am so grateful for his excellent care of our 2 corgis. This was our first time using a sitter who wasn’t family, and Austin made the experience so easy from the initial meet and greet through the end of the sit. I will definitely book again the next time we travel!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Menlo Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Menlo Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Menlo Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
