“Marion did a great job house sitting for a few days. She was very responsible and asked great questions during our meet and great. Would definitely trust her to take care of our house and cat again in the future.”

“Katie was a hit with our two dogs right off the bat! From the first moment they met she immediately had their attention and enable them to take direction quickly. While we were away Katie took them to the park numerous walks spent tons of quality time with them and in general made the weekend as much a vacation for the pups as it was for us, the home was in great shape when we came home, and even personalized cute report cards for the pups! Book Katie while you have the chance!!”

“Kimberly is great- Emmy loves her! She makes traveling so much easier, and she takes adorable photos of Emmy with the zoomies, playing hide-and-seek, and curled up looking cozy. Couldn't be happier!”

“CJ did an excellent job with our two Chihuahua mixes. CJ showed a genuine love for animals and formed a great bond with our dogs (one of whom is fairly mistrustful). I received regular updates, photos, and check-ins, which made me feel my doggos were getting the best care possible. I would highly recommend CJ!”

“This is our second time booking with Genevieve, specifically for a house, shit, and it went off without a hitch! Genevieve, of course, followed all our specifications for our son DOOM and we got constant pictures and communication from her all throughout the day. She is also good with asking, clarifying questions, and that means a lot to us as well.We are very happy with her as a dog sitter, and we recommend her for anyone’s dog sitting needs!”

“Amara was so friendly and flexible. The dogs really liked her a lot. She took very good care of our house and left it cleaner than she found it. We will definitely book with Amara again!”

About: I’ve cared for and owned dogs, cats, reptiles, and rats since I was a kid. I love dogs of all sizes and cats of all temperaments. Currently I just have a quail. I love caring for animals of all kind! I am patient and am open to caring for pets with special needs, especially with detailed instructions. Non-traditional pets don’t scare me, although spiders are not my favorite. They’re cute, I just don’t want to touch them. Haha. Am happy to take doggos on fun outdoor walks and give them lots of exercise! Cats will get lots of exercise, playing, and love, catered to their preferences. I currently work part-time tutoring kiddos virtually, and caring for my elderly Father-in-law in Monterey some weekends. I prefer drop-in care and giving walks, but am open to house-sitting depending on the details. I am happy to come to your home to meet and talk about the care if your pet(s). I live in a small apartment, so I won't be boarding any animals. Not only do I follow instructions well (I’m an elementary teacher, so I’m good at that), I also love to give animals snuggles and care and am happy to send hourly pictures.
“Jeanette was amazing. Jake was being difficult and wouldn’t come in but Jeannette wouldn’t give up and go to bed till she finally got him in at 3AM. I felt bad and told her to go to bed, but she wouldn’t until he was in. He is usually good for her and comes in before dark,, but not this time.”

“Trina is very calm and kind and professional! My dog Pebbles was very timid and sometimes unfriendly on this first visit and Trina was very patient, gave Pebbles her space, and kept a very positive attitude. I appreciated her efforts and understanding!”

“Sydney was wonderful with my dog while I was out of town. She asked great questions beforehand and obviously cared about trying to keep things as normal for my pup as possible. While I was gone, I trusted her in my home, and appreciated her updates along the way. It was clear Bailey enjoyed her time with Sydney!”

“Zoe was wonderful. I would not hesitate to book her again. She stayed at my house and watched my two dogs for a week. My dogs and house were well taken care of. Zoe spends a lot of time with your dogs, is very responsive to texts and is a bright and respectful person. I especially appreciated her calm and gentle demeanor when first meeting my dogs. Before booking her I saw that she had many, many 5 star reviews and many repeat bookings. Now I know why.”

“Arianna cares about my dogs and she even got new toys for my dogs during her stay. It’s easy to communicate with her and my dogs look extremely happy when I get back home.”
“We reached out to Cordigen with a last-minute request, and she was incredibly accommodating, kind, and flexible from our very first messages and meeting. She immediately recognized that our pup needed support with calm greetings and was so thoughtful in how she approached her, speaking softly and offering gentle, kind reminders to Scout not to jump. Throughout the day, Cordigen was wonderfully communicative, sending photos and updates so we always knew how Scout was doing. She even played calming music on the TV and was happily playing with Scout in the backyard when I arrived home. At pickup, she gave a detailed rundown of the day, from bathroom breaks to how she helped Scout stay calm when she heard noises outside. We truly couldn’t be happier to have found Cordigen as a sitter and would enthusiastically recommend her to anyone looking for dog care, especially for dogs who may be a bit anxious or need extra help staying calm. Thank you, Cordigen!”

“John did a fantastic job taking care of Fenway and Rosie! He communicated with me daily, sharing pictures and video clips. They were happy and well loved. More over, John left the house in exceptional condition.”

About: While I've had dogs somewhere in my life as far back as I can remember (belonging to relatives and friends), my big pet care experience started when my family got a dog of our own in 2018 (we named him Fletcher). When we got him, his foster family had mostly potty trained him, but we had to teach him other commands and house rules. In 2023, I spent a summer abroad and helped foster a couple cats, including entertaining, feeding, and cleaning litter boxes. April of Last Year, Fletcher suddenly passed from our lives and left our lives feeling quite empty indeed. Late December, we adopted another dog (named Dashi) with a very different personality than Fletcher. Dashi is very sweet but very skittish, and is much more people/"pack" oriented than treat oriented. Being a student, my hours are limited by class times. Thus, I am happy to walk or visit your dog between 8:00am-11:30am Mon-Thur, and 8:30am-5:30pm Fri and Sun. When walking dogs, I am typically one to go at the dog's comfortable pace, and will plan walk routes accordingly (although, I definitely take suggestions!). At home, I will gladly play with your dog, whether it be tug-of-war, tag, fetch, or any other game. Situation permitting, I would also be willing to take your dog on play-dates or bring my own dog (Dashi, see above) if requested. Please tell me what commands are useful for your dog, and any quirks or behaviours you want me to watch out for. While I can bring my own dog treats, I by far prefer treats that you know your dog likes and will respond to. I am not willing to take your dog off-leash in public until I am sure that your dog will return when I call.
“Lena was amazing! I felt totally confident leaving our pup and house in her care and she was great about frequent pictures and updates. I would definitely recommend and book her again!”

“Sage is my retired Service Dog and has not left my side for 5.5 years. I have been terrified of being apart. However the opportunity arose to have a night away. I found Ghazaal who put me at ease. Just before leaving, I got sick Ghazaal rearranged her calendar to help both Sage and myself out. Couldn't recommend anyone else who is more caring, respectful, and reliable.”

“Maria was a pleasure! I can't recommend her enough. She was kind, professional, very neat, personable, and very responsive. Lots of pictures! She has infectious smile and way about her that made Gigi instantly love her.”

“Ian is exceptional! They took wonderful care of our dog, cat, and home—everything was in great shape when we returned. Ian provided regular updates, allowing us to relax and enjoy our trip, knowing our pets and home were in good hands. I highly recommend booking with Ian!”

Mica took wonderful care of our German Shepherd! She sent us great photos, took him on some nice walks, and kept us updated with excellent communication. We would absolutely book with Mica again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful dog sitter!

What a wonderful experience for both my dog and I. Very attentive, detail oriented, and real care and effort put into her stay and caring for my dog. Great communication and shared many wonderful pictures and updates throughout the stay. Left my house looking better than I had left it. Would 💯 recommend and use again! She is wonderful

Is there a 6-star option? There should be! Stephen did an excellent job of caring for my dog and my house. From the pre-stay visit, to the gentle and appropriate reminders, detailed notes, and the charming and informative daily updates. Bonus: new skills and tricks were learned by my pooch! Stephen's gentle and calm approach -- superb!

Rachel was fantastic. She house sat for dog for seven days. From the beginning, she was communicative, responsive, and incredibly responsible. She sent regular updates and photos throughout the stay—enough that I always knew Banjo was doing well, but never so many that it felt excessive. When I got home, Banjo was relaxed, happy, and completely himself, which honestly tells me everything I need to know. He’s a pretty affectionate little Velcro dog, and it was obvious he’d been well cared for. Rachel even came back later to take him on one last walk because of my return time, let me know when he’d last gone potty, and left him with a Kong before she headed out. Those little thoughtful touches really stood out. She also left my home spotless and organized, and I felt completely comfortable having her in both my home and Banjo’s care. Being able to travel without worrying about your dog is priceless, and Rachel gave me exactly that. I was able to be present with my family because I knew he was safe, happy, and in excellent hands. I genuinely can’t think of anything she could have done better. I’d book her again without hesitation and recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional sitter.

I’m 100% satisfied with how CJ cared for our dog and our home while we were away. He quickly made friends with our Coda, managed her different medications, played with her and took loads of pictures which he sent us twice daily with updates. He even took out the trash, washed the sheets and remade the bed. Definitely would book CJ for our future needs!

Kendall is terrific. She cares and connected quickly with my pup. She is conscientious, offered to come and meet my dog before the visit. She asked questions about emergency plans, feeding, medications and her best schedule. She was tidy, punctual and helpful, even sending me photos and relaying my dogs attitude and energy level throughout her stay. I highly recommend Kendall - 5 stars!

Korinne was fantastic. She took care of my kitty for 4 days and spent ample time with him, stayed the night, provided several updates a day and made me feel that he was well taken care of. Will definitely try to have her visit again in the future when I need help!

Cynthia did a great job taking care of Mabel over a 10 day trip. She was respectful of our place and left everything as it was once we got back. We got timely updates and did lots of activities with our pup who has a lot of energy. Would love to book her again in the future

Jaya was super accomodating and flexible with the dates. My dog Mila was super comfortable with her. Jaya had excellent communication and took great pics, kept regular updates. I was able to travel with peace of mind, so I will continue booking with her again for sure!

Barbara was outstanding in every way, from our first communications through the end of the stay. She is an excellent communicator, was very comfortable with my senior dogs, sent photos and updates, left the house in great shape, and was a pleasure to deal with. I would be happy to have her come back.
I cannot recommend William highly enough! From the moment we left town, I knew Nala was in good hands. He was super-communicative, sending multiple photo and written updates every day, ensuring me that she was being cared and loved for while I was out of the house. I’ll be reaching out to him first when I need a dog-sitter again!

Anastacia was great with our two dogs. One of the dogs acts aggressive when she meets new people Anastacia was not intimidated and our dogs warmed up to her quickly. Anastacia was punctual, communicated well and sent lots of pictures. She stayed two nights at our house with the dogs. We were very happy with her and would use her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Los Altos Hills on Rover is $60 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Los Altos Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Los Altos Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Los Altos Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
