“CJ took excellent care of Eliza, despite her getting up to some naughty puppy shenanigans while we were gone. He was proactive and did exactly what we would have done to take care of our girl. He sent lots of photos and regularly updated us on how she was doing. She seemed happy and well taken care of when we arrived home. He left our house extremely clean and tidy as well. We’ve already booked him for another upcoming trip!”

“Katie is amazing!!! We were nervous leaving Penny for the first time but Katie sent so many updates, pictures, and videos which helped put us at ease. Penny had a wonderful time staying with her and got lots of snuggles, attention, and play time. Penny loved Katie & her boyfriend so much!! We totally reccomend booking with her & will definitely re-book the next time we need a sitter.”

“Kimberly is great- Emmy loves her! She makes traveling so much easier, and she takes adorable photos of Emmy with the zoomies, playing hide-and-seek, and curled up looking cozy. Couldn't be happier!”

About: Grew up with small and large dogs like Spitz and Golden retriever. Currently live with 3 cats🐱 Always Pet sitting for friends over holidays in the past including domestic cats, ragdoll, poodles and doodles, Bernese mountain, Maltese, Cotons, Cavapoo, Bichon… Flexible in time and locations My work schedule is pretty flexible, which makes it easy for me to fit pet care into my daily routine. I also enjoy driving and don’t mind traveling a bit for pet sitting or drop-in visits. I’m usually available on weekends as well, so I can be flexible with different schedules and care needs. I always follow the owner’s house rules and care instructions, and try my best to keep each pet’s normal routine while their family is away. Every pet is different, so I’m happy to adjust to their needs—whether that means extra walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply giving them some space. My goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and at home while in my care. 🐾
“Genny was fantastic. She gave our dog 10-star care in the most loving and capable way as we dealt with a medical issue. We were so grateful to have Genny taking care of Sasha. She sent photos and videos, texted and called us with updates. Genny took great care of the house too.”

“Sara was SO amazing! She was very attentive to Finny’s care instructions and sent plenty of videos and pictures to put my mind at ease while I was away from my kitty. Finny warmed up to her way faster than he usually does to new people, and she even brought him a new toy! I highly recommend her for house and pet sitting and will definitely be booking her again in the future :)”

“Guilherme took care of our dog and cat during the Christmas and new years holiday. He sent many updates with photos, helped bring the garbage bins inside and collect mail and left our home more organized than when we left. Highly recommend and definitely hope to use his services again when we travel. Thanks Guilherme!”

“I knew she would be great when she came to our house for a "meet and greet", brought a cat toy and immediately started playing with our two babies. I was not wrong - they were wlel cared for, well fed and most importantly, well loved.”

About: Lifetime dog owner and animal lover, I’ve always loved getting to connect with new personalities. I’ve had experience caring for a pups at every stage of their lives. Most of my experience has come with senior dogs, and along with making sure they have frequent potty breaks during the night I’ve also had to administer medical care, with insulin shots or oral medication. My approach with dog care lies in patience, through this I’ve also been able to train many friends. I go at the pace of your dog, and am ready for energetic brisk walks, playtime, running, or I can also go slow and smell the roses or bushes. I try to be as flexible as possible to best address your pets’ needs. I am available Fridays and weekends. I am also free during the weekdays at certain windows of times, but if you don’t find something that works for you, please reach out and I can try to fit you in best as possible. I am balancing classes during the weekdays, so my available times vary a bit differently. I believe pets do best in their own environment, and I will do my best to follow your pets routine as closely as possible in order to minimize any stress. I always respect your home and am a reliable caretaker for your pet. Whatever special care is needed for your pet or space, I’m always prepared.

About: I have cared for dogs of all kinds and ages since I was a child. I've trained puppies, cared for elder dogs, and worked with service dogs as well. January, 2026: I am working part time & remote so my schedule for pet care is very flexible! I'm available for a single day or for longer-term arrangements. I will be happy to help take care of your pets in their homes. At this time I do not have the ability to pet-sit or board at my home.
About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats my entire life and truly treat every pet as an individual. What sets me apart is my calm, attentive approach and my focus on one pet family at a time, so your pet gets my full attention in a low-stress environment 🐾❤️ I’m very mindful of routines, body language, and emotional comfort, especially for pets who are shy, sensitive, or adjusting to a new place. I enjoy long sniffing walks, gentle play, enrichment activities (like lick mats), and plenty of cuddle time — always tailored to your pet’s personality. I’m comfortable caring for adult dogs and seniors, following detailed instructions, administering basic medications as directed, and providing consistent updates so you feel at ease while you’re away. Cleanliness, safety, and clear communication are extremely important to me. On most days I’m home and present, and on occasion I may go into the office for a few hours (typically up to 4–6 hours, a couple of times per week). Because of this, I’m a great fit for pets who are comfortable being alone for short periods. I always plan ahead to ensure your pet is safe, settled, and well cared for before I step out. My goal is to make every stay feel calm, secure, and loving — like a true home away from home. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine and is something I plan my schedule around. I structure my day to ensure pets receive consistent attention, regular potty breaks, walks, meals, playtime, and plenty of companionship throughout the day 🐾❤️ I’m able to provide a calm, predictable routine with flexible timing, which works especially well for pets who need consistency or extra reassurance. I make sure each pet’s feeding, walking, and rest schedule is followed closely, and I adjust my day as needed to match their normal routine. Whether it’s daily care, short stays, or longer boarding, I prioritize being present, attentive, and responsive so your pet always feels safe and cared for. I live in a calm, pet-friendly apartment with a private patio and Rengstorff Park just steps away for safe daily walks and playtime. There are no other pets or children in my home, so your furry friend will have a quiet and relaxing stay with our full attention. I keep doors and patio areas secure at all times, and pets are always on a leash outdoors. I follow each pet’s specific routine for feeding, walks, and bedtime, and can crate your dog if preferred for comfort or safety. Our goal is to make every pet feel at home and cared for as if they were our own. 🐾
“Barbara stayed in our home to watch our two pups while we took a weekend trip. Prior to leaving, she came over and spent a significant amount of time to get to know and learn about our dogs. I was not at all concerned about leaving them in her care. When we got home not only were our pups well taken care of, our home was exactly how we had left it. I highly recommend Barbara.”

“Kelly was absolutely wonderful with Bidu! From the moment they met, he instantly warmed up to her, which gave us so much peace of mind. She carefully followed all of our instructions and kept us updated with frequent messages and photos. The sweetest part was when we met her the next day to hand off our key. Bidu was overjoyed to see her again, and that truly said it all. We knew our boy was in excellent hands with Kelly, and we wholeheartedly recommend her!”

“Thanks, Shannon, for always taking such great care of our older (and sometimes needy) pups! And I especially want to thank you for dealing with the electricity outage with such grace and even helping to work with PG&E and our landlord to get things fixed and the power back on. I can always count on you to do an exceptional job, which lets me go out of town with no worries that my pups are left in great hands!!”

“John took excellent care of Lucy and the house while house sitting. Sent lots of updates and pictures so I felt I knew exactly how everything was going while I was away. Would absolutely love to have John take care of Lucy the next time we need to go out of town.”

Ruby did a great job with our dogs! Our dogs are reactive (lots of barking) to other dogs and to people, especially when people come to our home. She was not intimidated by their barking when I opened the door, she was calm and sweet with them and they warmed up with her after just a couple of minutes. We could tell right away that she has experience with dogs and genuinely loves them. Ruby was flexible with the times we needed her to be with our dogs before and after her full time job and she followed all our instructions. We were at ease during our vacation knowing our dogs were in good loving hands. When we got home our dogs looked happy and well taken care of. Ruby will definitely be our very first choice for future bookings!

Rachel was absolutely wonderful, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Her communication was excellent from start to finish, and the photos and updates she sent gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Charlie was so well cared for. Rachel also took great care of our home, which we really appreciated. We trusted her completely, and she exceeded every expectation. Five stars without hesitation. We would absolutely recommend Rachel and would love to have her watch Charlie again.

Genny was fantastic. She gave our dog 10-star care in the most loving and capable way as we dealt with a medical issue. We were so grateful to have Genny taking care of Sasha. She sent photos and videos, texted and called us with updates. Genny took great care of the house too.

Kimberly stayed in my home and took wonderful loving care of my dog, Comet, while I was on vacation for 13 days. Kimberly sent videos of Comet and responded quickly to my text messages. She left my home in perfect condition, and even cleaned the house before leaving! I would highly recommend her if you need someone to take care of your pet.

Marion was wonderful! Our cats and home were well looked after. We felt confident being away, knowing that our kitties were being taken care of. Marion was communicative and followed all our instructions perfectly. Thank you so much, Marion, we'll definitely have her back!

CJ is the best! He takes such great care of our older golden, Jack. He communicates every day so we know that Jack is getting out for walks, getting fed, and playing lots of ball. He also managed the house chores and cleaned up really well after the long stay. We highly recommend him!

Jeanette took exceptional care of Bella while we were out of the country for two weeks. She treated Bella as if she were her own, followed her routine carefully, and kept us updated regularly with messages and photos. Knowing Bella was in such caring and capable hands gave us complete peace of mind, so we were able to truly enjoy our trip without worrying. Jeanette also went above and beyond by collecting our mail and watering our houseplants, which we really appreciated. When we returned, Bella was happy, healthy, and clearly very comfortable with Jeanette. In fact, Bella seemed to miss her after she left, which speaks volumes about the wonderful bond they formed during those two weeks. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and would absolutely trust Jeanette with Bella again

Mica took wonderful care of our German Shepherd! She sent us great photos, took him on some nice walks, and kept us updated with excellent communication. We would absolutely book with Mica again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful dog sitter!

Is there a 6-star option? There should be! Stephen did an excellent job of caring for my dog and my house. From the pre-stay visit, to the gentle and appropriate reminders, detailed notes, and the charming and informative daily updates. Bonus: new skills and tricks were learned by my pooch! Stephen's gentle and calm approach -- superb!

Kendall is terrific. She cares and connected quickly with my pup. She is conscientious, offered to come and meet my dog before the visit. She asked questions about emergency plans, feeding, medications and her best schedule. She was tidy, punctual and helpful, even sending me photos and relaying my dogs attitude and energy level throughout her stay. I highly recommend Kendall - 5 stars!

Cynthia did a great job taking care of Mabel over a 10 day trip. She was respectful of our place and left everything as it was once we got back. We got timely updates and did lots of activities with our pup who has a lot of energy. Would love to book her again in the future

Jaya was super accomodating and flexible with the dates. My dog Mila was super comfortable with her. Jaya had excellent communication and took great pics, kept regular updates. I was able to travel with peace of mind, so I will continue booking with her again for sure!

Barbara was outstanding in every way, from our first communications through the end of the stay. She is an excellent communicator, was very comfortable with my senior dogs, sent photos and updates, left the house in great shape, and was a pleasure to deal with. I would be happy to have her come back.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Los Altos Hills on Rover is $60 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 6,934 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Los Altos Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Los Altos Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Los Altos Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Los Altos Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Los Altos Hills. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
