“Tianyu (Scarlett) was absolutely incredible! From the start, she did a meet & greet with our dog Lola and asked thoughtful questions — setting the tone for just how attentive and caring she is. She house sat and cared for Lola for 5 days, sending detailed daily updates and photos that gave us total peace of mind. She was also extremely responsive whenever we reached out, and when we got home, the house was spotless. Truly above and beyond care — for both Lola and our home! We’d absolutely recommend Scarlett to anyone looking for a sitter who will treat your pet and home with the utmost care. We’ll definitely be booking her again! 🐾”

“Omar took the best care of my dogs when I was on an international trip. He was punctual with their walks and meals, offered them endless pats and cuddles, and was always very attentive of them. My dogs were safe in his care, and were also mentally and physically engaged whenever he interacted with them. Omar was wonderful house guest when staying over and I would not hesitate to have him watch my dogs again when I travel. Thank you Omar!”

“Esther watched our 9 year old dog in our home for 10 days. From our first messages it was clear she was kind and responsible. She engaged well with our dog and took great care of her. We got daily updates about how things were going and notes about anything we might want to monitor. She also took respectful care of our home and even initiated to ask how she could be helpful before our late arrival back home. We came back to happy, healthy pup. We were grateful to thoroughly enjoy our vacation knowing our dog was so well cared for. We will be recommending Esther to our family and friends.”

About: I have hands-on experience caring for my own Samoyed, which has given me a strong understanding of large-breed dogs, their energy levels, grooming needs, and daily routines. In addition to Samoyeds, I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all sizes and breeds, as well as cats. What sets me apart is my patience, attentiveness, and ability to follow care instructions closely. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality, habits, and comfort level, whether that means energetic walks, gentle playtime, or simply providing calm companionship. I also help reinforce basic routines such as leash manners, feeding schedules, potty breaks, and medication if needed. Since I work part-time, I have a flexible schedule and can give pets the time and attention they deserve. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always prioritize their safety and well-being. I work part-time as a dental assistant, which gives me a flexible and predictable schedule. This allows me to plan pet care visits, walks, and check-ins thoughtfully throughout my day and week. I only accept bookings that I can fully commit to, so pets always receive attentive, unrushed care. Pet care fits comfortably into my routine, and I genuinely enjoy spending my free time caring for dogs and cats. I care for pets with a focus on safety, trust, and comfort. Whether in the pet’s home or during visits, I follow your instructions carefully, ensure the environment is secure, and supervise pets at all times. I pay attention to each animal’s needs and personality, providing food, water, playtime, or rest as appropriate. I also send updates to keep owners informed and reassured.
“Rachel was wonderful! Super responsible and really put my mind at ease while we were traveling. She kept great communication and sent daily photos and videos, which I really appreciated. She left the place spotless, and I would absolutely book her again and highly recommend her to anyone!”

“Kristine was absolutely amazing! Took every detail that we asked of her and told her about our Doberman and she followed through with extra little details! Kristine was very communicative and you can really tell she cares about what she does. Will gladly hire her again! P.S. she works at a flower shop and left beautiful bouquets for us in our kitchen. I’m obsessed!”

“I needed help last minute to care for my dood. Jenny was able to come super last minute and take care of him. She went above and beyond to care for Drake. Taking him on multiple walks, playing with him and making sure he was fed on time. I would highly recommend her as a caretaker and would definitely request to have her help again. Thank you Jenny! 💖”

“As a first time rover user i was pretty hesitant to use the app, but Tiana has ensured that i use it more going forward. She is prompt, shares lots of pet pics while im away, and i think my cat ended up missing her when i got back”

“Rendell is amazing. He is a great communicator and took stellar care of my pup on a very last minute booking. I will definitely track him down again the next time I need a sitter.”

“CJ did an excellent job. I interviewed multiple people before deciding to work with CJ when I was going out of town to watch our puppy. She is 13 weeks old and we wanted to keep her on her care routine. CJ is extremely detail-oriented, respectful, communicative, and thoughtful...I could tell that he really cares about his craft and wants to make sure his clients are happy. He asked detailed questions with nuance that showed he cared and our puppy had an amazing time with him. I could not recommend CJ more and is the only person I have worked with in recent memory that I would happily do a reference for! He is awesome!”

“Devin was great with Penny and she was well taken care of for 10 days. We had peace of mind as a result. He communicated regularly and responded to any pings we had within a reasonable period of time. Where Devin stands out is how he ensures he's home alot with your pet. And we appreciate that greatly. He took good care of house and garden as well. Would recommend him and also will use him again in future.”

“Marion was very responsive, sent updates of my dog while we were gone, and was respectful of our home! I definitely felt comfortable my dog was in good hands which helps when you’re away from home❤️”

“Maria stepped in at the last minute when my dog was ill and couldn’t go to her usual spot. She was attentive to all instructions and medication, sent me frequent photos and videos, and absolutely took great care of my English Bulldog. Absolutely will have her back again!”

“Kiana was great! I was in a last minute panic because my dog Finn got sick and couldnt go to day care, but has separation anxiety so I really needed coverage last minute. Kiana was a big help and flexible, adjusting as needed to help me and Finn get through the worst of it.”

“Jessa was awesome with our puppy. She was accommodating and communicative. She picked up on our puppies cues and preferences right away. We will definitely be booking her again!”

“This is our third time booking Ghazal, the second time for an extended period of time and we could not be happier. Ghazal genuinely adores our cat and caring for her and we get regular updates. We feel completely comfortable with her staying in our house. Will 100% book her again and again.”

“Elizabeth stayed with my Pomeranians for most of November due to work travel and then a personal trip over Thanksgiving. I always hate being away from my pups, but after the first two short stays for my business trips, I felt really good about being far away for 10 days over Thanksgiving, knowing they were in good hands. As always, Elizabeth was communicative, responsive and I could really tell she was getting to know their personalities and quirks. She also sent really fun updates, with a bit of humor and witty writing, but even better, the stories she texted me about were spot on with how they behave as a little pack. In addition, after her stay, I was putting harnesses on them to go on a walk, I noticed that my 9 month old pup Evie, who always ran around crazy when it was walk time and wouldn’t let me put her harness on, was coming up to me to get her harness put on. So, not only did she take good care of them, she somehow got Evie to understand how to put her harness on, and that chase was not part of that process. I’ll be forever grateful for whatever magic she did to get Evie to want to put on her harness! I will absolutely use Elizabeth again and highly recommend her to stay with your pets while on vacation or business travel.”

Thank you Vivian! My senior dog needs medication and lots of gentle care. Vivian made it all work and took great care of managing and delivering medications for my big old guy. I will call Vivian first when next we need care and am happy to recommend her services.
Kenny did an amazing job caring for my two cats while I was away for three weeks. Since my cats are normally very cautious around new people, I was impressed by how quickly he gained their trust. The daily updates and photos were greatly appreciated and gave me complete peace of mind throughout my trip. It was clear that he genuinely cared for them, and I came home to two happy, well-cared-for cats. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again.

This was Sam’s second time watching our puppy dog and she did an amazing job! She stayed at our apartment for four days and took great care of Sage. You can tell that she really loves animals and goes above and beyond for them. On top of that, she left our place spotless. We are so grateful to have found Sam and will definitely book her in the future.

Zixi did an amazing job taking care of my cat! While I was away, I initially had friends stop by several times a week, but my cat became very anxious and started vomiting hairballs frequently. I then booked Zixi for three consecutive nights of house sitting, and the difference was immediate. From the very first night, my cat warmed up to him. Zixi brushed her 2–3 times a day and thoughtfully gave her wet food to help soothe her digestion. Thanks to his attentive care, my cat’s condition improved significantly—she stopped vomiting and was visibly much happier. I truly appreciated how patient and observant Zixi was, and I would absolutely book with him again!

Lauren was absolutely amazing with my senior dog, not only did she keep him company and keep him safe, but she also helped him with little things that made it a lot more comfortable, she’s very knowledgeable about dogs and very loving, and I highly recommend her!!

Andrew and Veronica took great care of our dog and house for two weeks! Our dog was showered with attention as Andrew works from home. We got regular updates and photos, and appreciated that our dog was happy and followed her daily routine. 0ur home was clean and the plants watered, and Andrew even offered to do some grocery shopping for us before we came back. They went above and beyond, and we would be happy to have them sit again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Alviso on Rover is $83.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 5,366 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Alviso. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Alviso walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Alviso maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Alviso choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Alviso. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
