“Stacey was wonderful! Sweet Pea had a wonderful time while we were away! She had a spa getaway week and was very well taken care of and loved on. So thankful we found such a wonderful person to watch our little girl! Thanks so much Stacey!! Wouldn't hesitate to rebook!”

“Shannon filled in at the last minute and did a wonderful job. My huskies are full of energy and she managed them beautifully. I really appreciate her flexibility and willingness to take on my dogs without a prior introduction. I will be booking her again, for sure!!”

“Elizabeth did a wonderful job caring for our little dog, Coco. She connected well with Coco during our meet and greet. Coco is a bit shy and she warmed to Elizabeth immediately. While we were away, Elizabeth sent us updates of how the two of them were doing. She also took excellent care of our home — leaving things nicer than she found them! I would highly recommend her as a dog and house sitter. We are looking forward to having her back!”

“Tianyu was great! She was extremely responsive during her stay with our older dog, Otis, and provided great updates and photos/videos. She kept our house and backyard extra clean. We will book with her again in the future!”

“Sejla is AMAZING!! I feel so lucky that I found her on Rover! My six year old boxer, and my two cats all loved her, she was polite, professional, responsive, and I could tell truly cared about my animals feeling loved and comfortable in my absence! I have already booked her for all my trips this year, and if I could give her more than five stars, I would!!”

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life and genuinely love caring for them. I grew up with both dogs and cats, so I’m very comfortable with different personalities, energy levels, and temperaments. I currently have two dogs of my own, Rush (93 lbs) and Chase (53 lbs), so I’m very experienced handling larger dogs as well as more sensitive ones. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your dog, and I treat them all like they’re my own. I’m attentive, patient, and reliable. Whether your dog needs a high-energy walk, a calm and steady pace, or just someone who understands their quirks, I’ve got it covered. I’m also very mindful of safety, leash control, and making sure your pup is comfortable at all times. You can expect clear communication, updates, and someone who genuinely cares about your pup’s well-being, not just getting the walk done. I work during the day but am consistently available in the evenings on weekdays and have flexible, open availability on weekends. I’m reliable with scheduling and do my best to accommodate requests with clear communication and timely updates. I prioritize safety, structure, and your pet’s comfort at all times. I follow your pet’s routine closely, including feeding, walking, and any specific instructions you provide. I’m experienced handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments, including larger, stronger dogs. During walks, I focus on leash control, awareness of surroundings, and avoiding unsafe situations with other dogs or distractions. In your home, I respect your space, keep things clean, and make sure your pet feels secure and stress-free. You’ll always receive updates and photos so you know exactly how your pet is doing.
“This is my second time booking with Bri and would definitely love her to watch our babies again. She took great care of them while we were away for the weekend. The puppies and kitty were healthy and happy upon return.”

“Hannah is just wonderful! She is reliable and provides such attentive care for my mini Goldendoodle! Raja enjoys all the walks, play time, and cuddles! We appreciate the regular updates on Raja throughout the day. I highly recommend Hannah!!”

About: I volunteered at a dog fostering agency called DPS for a year- which dealt with taking care of dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. I love dogs and have one of my own from the very agency I worked with! My dog is always at home and needs a lot of attention as shes gotten older. The responsibility is divided as my parents are also home often to take care of her. But when I was volunteering I would be with dogs for 5 hours every other weekend! I can follow any dietary guidelines for dogs and can definitely take them for a walk or run if they need it. I love to play with dogs, but be assured that I will not move if your dog would much rather just curl up against someone.
“Mary is absolutely incredible. She kept me updated, played with my cat, and my cat was literally slow blinking at her in the Live Photos she sent me (which cats do as an expression of affection). She is a huge animal lover and I would trust her with your pet 11/10 times. I think my cat is going to miss her more than me at this point. Ha!”

“As a first time rover user, we picked an awesome sitter in Danyel. She kept our 1 year old busy all day and Luna seems to have taken to her very quickly. We did a great job fast meet and greets so all were ready to go. Great job! Very happy and definitely a do again when needed.”

“We usually leave our dog and cat with friends or family but having just moved to the area we needed to find an alternative arrangement. We were a little apprehensive about using Rover for the first time but after meeting Tracey, her warm demeanor instantly put us (and the pets) at ease. During the stay, Tracey maintained consistent communication, providing regular updates and even sending cute pics and videos of the pets enjoying their time. It was so reassuring to know they were in such capable hands and it really helped us to relax and enjoy our time away not worrying about the fur kids! In addition to her exceptional care for the pets, Tracey also took great care of our home and left everything neat and tidy. Overall, we cannot recommend her highly enough and we are so lucky to have found such a reliable and qualified carer on Rover. We will definitely be reaching out to her again to look after our pets.”

About: I have house sat for many families, and a majority of them had pets. I love getting the chance to connect with a furbaby and take them for fun walks, grooming them, playtime, or just keep them company and lounge if they are more low-key! I have also owned dogs my whole life (Springer Spaniels, Labrador Retrievers, Pugs, Jack Russel Terrier/Beagle mix, and currently a 3-year old Cattle Dog mix. I have great experience with an array of different pet types and personalities. One time I house sat and took care for a dog, cat, two goats, and ten chickens. I am very flexible and open to helping accommodate to what is most helpful for you. Thank you for considering me, I look forward to meeting you and your furbaby soon. I work 9-5 in the office on Monday-Wednesday. Other days are much more flexible depending on any special events happening that week. I also have a dog of my own to care for. I am unable to house a pet in my place of living at this time. I take safety and trust extremely seriously while house sitting and can frequently update the client on their pet(s)’ wellbeing.
About: I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life, which has shaped my understanding of their needs, routines, and personalities. I’ve always been involved in caring for my own family pets, including feeding, walking, and giving them consistent attention. Beyond that, I’ve pet sat overnight and walked dogs for neighbors, friends, family, and others. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a strong sense of responsibility and feel comfortable caring for dogs with a wide range of temperaments and energy levels. As a college student home for the summer, I have a flexible and open schedule, including weekdays and weekends, and I’m happy to help with last-minute needs. I’d love the chance to spend time with and care for your pets! When taking care of pets I like to keep things consistent with their usual routine by making sure they’re fed, have fresh water, get regular walks, and plenty of attention and love. I aim to make sure they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away!
About: I want to offer your pets more than just your average walks, let's work with your dog's routine and preferences! Whether it be taking them to their favorite neighborhood park or dog park, squirrel watching, the lake or training sessions, I can do them all! I have trained my own puppy, administered medication and am continuously finding new ways to enrich his life and I hope help do the same for yours! I am currently in school part time so I have plenty of time to spend with your pup or kitten! My flexible schedule allows me to give my undivided attention to each and every pet to ensure that I do not rush my time with them. I am also available for more than one day a week or multiple check ins a day to build routine with your furry friend I have a friendly puppy that loves to play to keep your dog company! My house is pet proof and my cats are friendly with dogs. We can go to the dog park or explore new parks together! My dog is also crate and pen trained if your dog is not the most comfortable with another dog and needs some space. They will get their own separate room and to sleep and decompress in.
“Esther was great, would book with her again! She took the time to come for a meet and greet ahead of time, followed everything we asked to take care of our dog, including medication, and took good care of our place. Thanks!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fruitdale
We’re so happy we met Yumi! She cared for our dog, Oscar, for 9 days while we were away, and we couldn’t have asked for better care. Yumi sent us lots of photos and videos every day and kept us well informed about everything happening at our house—from Oscar’s eating and dog-door routine to mail, garbage, and updates from the dog walker. She was a great communicator, used excellent initiative (even buying peanut butter for Oscar’s Kong!), and never hesitated to ask questions when needed. I always felt completely up to date and reassured about what was happening at home while we were away. We would definitely reach out to Yumi again for our next trip. We highly recommend her!

Cassidy did a great job caring for our two labs when we were out of town over the weekend. We have a 5-year-old and very energetic 1-year-old. She took great care of them, followed all instructions, and sent us updates with pictures every day. They were in excellent hands!
Maya was a wonderful dog sitter and house sitter. She took wonderful care of our dog and also helped water our plants while we were gone. She sent over photos and let us know that things were going smoothly. Would definitely highly recommend her and hire her again next time we have to travel!
Kathy was an absolutely wonderful house and dog sitter! She gave Stetson so much love and attention, and it was clear from the daily updates and photos that he was happy, comfortable, and well cared for while we were away. Knowing he was in such good hands gave us complete peace of mind. On top of taking exceptional care of Stetson, Kathy treated our home with incredible respect. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would wholeheartedly recommend Kathy to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and thoughtful house and pet sitter.

Claire was the absolute best! She was open to more than one meet and greet before her actual stay. Our animals loved her! Even our anxious little chihuahua warmed up to her. She made it easy to feel safe to leave our zoo and home in her hands. She was super communicative and kept us updated with all the pictures. 10/10 recommend and will definitely book her again!

Devin did a wonderful job watching our puppy and house sitting while we were away! Devin kept us updated with regular check-ins and photos and left the house in pristine condition when we returned. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter, and we would highly recommend Devin!

Nas was an incredible dog sitter! Our dogs looked so happy in the photos and videos. She gave one of my dog’s his medication. We got frequent updates with great communication, she left no trace and we felt like our dogs were in great hands! It’s also always good in my book when a sitter is great with my kids at the first meeting as Nas was. Would happily hire her again!

Mámoo was wonderful with our pups while we were away. It’s so nice coming back to a clean home with everything taken care of while gone. Mámoo kept me updated with pics and videos and status updates. Our pups were pampered and given lots of love. I’ll definitely hire Mámoo again in the future. Thank you so much for everything!

Ava was so amazing with our three pets. She stayed in our home to watch our dog and two cats. I had never left our dog with anyone except family, so I was nervous going in. Ava was so wonderful with all three animals, and sent frequent updates so I didn’t have to worry if they were okay. She handled our stubborn dog and picky senior cats with so much patience and flexibility. Our time away went so smoothly because of how wonderful she was. We couldn’t recommend her more and will be booking her again the next time we go out of town!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Fruitdale on Rover is $77.7 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 4,054 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fruitdale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fruitdale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fruitdale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fruitdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fruitdale. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
