Availability

I’m available most days for several hours at a time, and many of my clients book me for house sitting. Throughout the day I may be attending to errands or other responsibilities, but I can check on pets multiple times daily to ensure they are safe, comfortable, and well cared for. My schedule can vary depending on other commitments and existing bookings. If your needs differ from what is currently listed, please don’t hesitate to ask—when possible, I’m happy to work with clients to find a schedule that supports both their pets’ needs and a sustainable routine for everyone involved. House sitting is a time-intensive service, and my rates reflect the level of attention and responsibility involved in caring for both your pets and your home. Many pet parents understand that sitters often maintain responsibilities outside the home, but occasionally pets require a higher level of supervision than typical house sitting provides. Unless we’ve made other arrangements in advance, house sitting generally includes overnight stays along with 2–3 daytime visits for feeding, potty breaks, and companionship. I typically avoid being away from your home for more than 6 hours at a time. This allows me to balance essential personal tasks while still ensuring your pets receive attentive and reliable care. If your pet requires near-constant supervision or extended daytime presence, please feel free to mention this when booking so we can determine the best care plan together, or determine if another sitter may be better suited to your family’s needs. To provide the best possible care, I prioritize bookings where expectations and routines align well with the services and schedule described in my profile.

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I do my best to maintain your pet’s normal routine so they feel secure and relaxed while you’re away. I carefully follow all care instructions provided, including feeding schedules, medications, exercise, and any household rules your pet is used to. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I treat both the animals and the home with the same respect and responsibility I would expect for my own. I make sure doors, gates, and fences are secure, and I always use proper leashes or harnesses during walks. I pay close attention to each pet’s behavior and temperament so I can respond appropriately and keep them safe. My focus during house sitting is always the care and wellbeing of your pets. If there are additional household tasks you would like assistance with, please mention them before the booking so we can confirm whether they can be accommodated. I also ask that you provide emergency contact information, including your veterinarian and a backup contact if needed. If any concerns arise, I communicate promptly so you are always informed about your pet’s well-being. I’m happy to send updates, photos, and messages so you can feel confident that your pets are safe, comfortable, and receiving attentive care while you’re away. For transparency and safety, Rover (and I) require that any cameras located in or around the home be disclosed before the booking begins. Cameras in private areas such as bedrooms and bathrooms should always remain disabled while I am staying in your home. I assure you, there’s only so much video of me baby-talking to your pets that you’ll want to see!

Information Donna M. would like to know about your pet

To provide the best care possible, I like to learn as much as I can about your pet’s personality and routine. Please let me know about their temperament, how they do with strangers, children, or other animals, and whether they have any special needs such as medications or prescription diets. I also ask clients to provide a written or typed list of care instructions—including feeding schedules, potty breaks, medications, and other important details—so I can follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible. Clear instructions help ensure consistency for your pet and allow me to provide the most attentive care possible. It may not be possible to follow their routine exactly as you would, but I try my best to ensure their happiness and comfort while you’re away. If your pet enjoys car rides or may need to travel with me for any reason, please let me know ahead of time so I can provide for their safety and comfort during transport. I generally try to avoid transporting your pet, but it may be necessary for their health or general enrichment.

A typical day

Every pet deserves attention, playtime, and affection. Depending on your pet’s preferences and energy level, we can enjoy walks or jogs, play with favorite toys, and of course provide plenty of love, treats, and scratches. I always appreciate learning about what your pet enjoys most—and anything they may not like. For example, some pets love enthusiastic play while others prefer calm companionship. My goal is always to create a comfortable environment where your pet feels relaxed and cared for while you’re away.

Pet care experience

I’ve had both cats and dogs for most of my life and genuinely enjoy caring for animals of all personalities and temperaments. Over the years, I’ve assisted friends and family with pet sitting and have experience with many breeds. I’m comfortable administering medications, giving subcutaneous fluids to cats (and willing to do so for dogs provided I have some hands-on instruction with you to see how they do), and trimming nails when pets are calm and cooperative. Because every animal is unique, these services may depend on your pet’s temperament and comfort level. If your pet requires medical or grooming support, please feel free to reach out so we can discuss whether it would be a good fit for my stay with them.
