“Shannon took very good care of our babies. She gave us daily updates and pictures. We felt very comfortable leaving them with her. This was our 1st time using Rover and will definitely use again.”

“Aurelia was amazing with our girl! She was so wonderful and took such incredible care of our pup while we were out of town for Christmas. Even when our pup got herself in a bit of trouble, Aurelia was gracious and caring. We got pictures and reports throughout, and our dog was as happy as could be! We are so grateful for the care Aurelie and her family gave our dog!”

“Rachel's wonderful! She watched Lily once before and we're so grateful she was able to watch her again, and on short notice. She was also very kind when our pick up was later than expected. She and Andrew are so nice, and Rachel always keeps us updated with photos and text messages. Lily loves playing with their adorable pup, Roscoe, and it's cute to see them having fun together. We would definitely feel comfortable having her watch Lily again!”

“Kobie was super professional and nice through out this entire experience. I have a 3 year old GSD and he’s typically very active so I had some reserves about his first overnight boarding experience. Kobie reassured me and made me feel comfortable with his excellent communication and experience. Gambit had a great time and was on his best behavior. We will definitely be booking with Kobie again.”

“Tina is so amazing! This was my first experience with boarding for Annie and Tina made us feel so comfortable! She send me updates on Annie’s eating and play with photos and more! I will forever check in with Tina’s availability for our boarding needs!”

She sent pictures plus she has an older dog who is chill like mine and they got along fine!! Her and her husband, Walter really cool people who care about and for your pet. very clean house, plenty of fenced in yard for my dog to 'explore'. I highly recommend Daisy, husband Walter and their 'boy' Teddy!!!!”

Marian is hands down one of the best sitters on Rover! She took amazing care of Luna and Hermes and kept me updated every single day with sweet photos and notes. It made being away so much easier knowing they were in great hands. Highly recommend Marian to anyone looking for a reliable, loving sitter!

Blaine was very responsive when I scheduled. We met and he was very personable and easy with the dog. we took him to his home as we felt comfortable with him. His house is quiet and calm which we really appreciated. Blaine was very loving with our dog He sent us one picture when he calmed down. we were not interrupted on vacation, but he did response promptly to my text. I will absolutely allow him to sit for us again. Our dog has definitely decided he likes Blaine and bonded.

Once again I had Madison watch my dog Cooper. She is absolutely fantastic with him and takes great care of him. Not even joking when I went to drop them off he took off down the street and ran right to her door. He was so excited. I know it's hard to find a good dog sitter but Madison is one of the best I have ever had.

Jaycee was great! As he took great care of my 8 yr. old pup. At the last minute, I needed a sitter and she responded quickly. She was strategic in introducing my pup to hers. She cared for her like her own, provided updates and photos. You can tell she's a true pet lover. I recommend Jaycee for your pup.

Artaizia and her husband took very good care of Deuce. They made sure he was comfortable and treated like their own fur baby. They sent me pictures and videos so that I was updated on his day to day with them. I will definitely use their boarding service again and I recommend them if you want any your fur baby to be cared for and in good hands and while you’re away.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
