“Shanae was absolutely amazing , and Nova fully enjoyed her time with Shanae and Ash. I would definitely book with her again with no hesitation. She’s attentive, keeps you informed, and makes sure to send lots of pictures. She truly has an amazing spirit”

“Ethel was wonderful! We left our 6 month old puppy with her for a week while on vacation here in Williamsburg. It was our first time leaving our puppy with someone and she had just been spayed about 2 weeks earlier, so we wanted her tos tay near where we’d be vacationing. Ethel was so sweet in letting us stop by to see her and say hi mid-week. When we arrived with our puppy, she was so kind in letting her gather her surroundings and get used to her. It didnt take long, as Mila took to her very quickly because she was so loving. When we went to visit mid-week, Mila was just loving on her and after we took her for a walk, she went right back to Ethel’s door to get in again! That showed us she was very happy there! Ethel took amazing care of Mila…feeding her, walking her, playing with her and loving her! She kept me posted the entire time with messages, pictures and videos. She went above and beyond! Toward the end of the week, she noticed Mila had been feeling a little off. She was very vigilant and let me know so I could call our vet. When the vet suggested we take her to a local vet in case it was a UTI from the recent spay, Ethel quickly helped find a place for us to take her and was checking in on her the entire time. She then gave her the meds we were given as needed and gave Mila extra love so she felt better. All in all, we are so happy to have found Ethel because we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing she was in good hands! She was patient, loving and kind! We completely recommend leaving your fur baby with Ethel!”

“Jessica was great with our Molly!! She sent pictures and videos to let us know how she was doing and Molly liked it so much over there we do not think she really wanted to come home because she had so much fun!!”

“Carly was an amazing sitter for our dog! Very responsible, flexible, and friendly with prompt communication. She gave us peace of mind and Shiv had a great time at her home while we were out-of-town.”

“Excellent! Ciara is a great communicator and sent photo updates regularly. Our pups were clearly having a great time away from home. Highly recommend and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Ryan and Stephanie kept me updated daily on Muppet’s visit and how she was doing. She was getting a lot of attention and loved every minute of it. We were a little late picking her up, but Ryan and Stephanie were understanding. When I picked her up, she was very content and happy and did not seem to have any stress whatsoever.”

“Faafetai was so amazing with our two dogs and newest puppy. We received pictures for the whole duration of the pups stay and they looked like they were having a blast! I cannot say enough good things about him and his family for treating our pups like their own.”

“During a time when I had to be out of town for almost a month and my family could not keep my dog because of other obligations, Christene agreed to keep my sweet dog for this extended period of time. Elly seemed to be having a wonderful time in each of the daily photos that Christene sent me. I think Elly made herself completely at home even with other new animals that were boarding also on various occasions. I would definitely recommend her services and would happily take Elly there again, if the occasion arises.”

About: Hi! I’m Andrea, and I’ve been caring for dogs for over 15 years, starting when I was 11 years old. My experience started with my aunt’s two Shih Tzus, whom I helped care for from puppyhood until they passed away from old age. Since then, dogs have always been a big part of my life. I currently have three dogs back in my home country and a mini Labradoodle named Ember here in the US. Over the years, I’ve cared for puppies, adult dogs, and senior dogs, including giving oral medications and supporting daily routines. I’m comfortable with feeding, walking, bathing, brushing, and basic training. I enjoy teaching simple commands because it helps build trust and confidence between dogs and their environment. I treat every dog with patients, care, and respect as part of my own family. I have a flexible daily routine that allows me to be present and attentive to pets throughout the day. I am able to provide regular potty breaks, walks, and supervised playtime based on each dog’s needs. I am generally home for most of the day, and my schedule allows me to check on pets frequently and maintain their normal routine as closely as possible. I provide care in a clean, calm, and pet-friendly apartment designed to help dogs feel safe and comfortable. I only accept one client or one family at a time to ensure a low-stress environment and close supervision. All pets are introduced slowly and carefully, and interactions with my dog Ember are always supervised. If needed, pets can be separated to ensure they feel comfortable and secure at all times. Because my home has carpeted flooring, I only accept dogs that are reliably house-trained. This helps maintain a clean and comfortable space for all pets in my care. The environment in structured to allow dogs to rest, relax, and adjust comfortably while still having a safe and supervised space throughout their stay.
“Tameka was an amazing caregiver for my two weenie dogs! I was so happy to be able to keep them together in a lovely home environment. Tameka was very attentive to my dogs needs and provided me with lots of updates and cute photos. Thank you Tameka!”

“Rodney is amazing! He took good care of our sweet standard poodle while we were out of town. Very responsive and friendly. My dog had the best days while staying with him. Highly recommend him!”

“We were over the moon happy with the love and care that Annabelle and her family provided for our dog Finnegan. The entire family embraced Finnegan as if he had been part of their family for years. We received daily updates which helped to relieve our anxiety. We highly recommend these lovely caring folks to anyone and everyone looking for a safe and pet friendly home to take care of your dog as if he/she is their own. We will definitely being boarding with them again and again.”

“They took great care of our older dog. We could not have asked for a better first experience using Rover. Plenty of updates and we were able to relax and enjoy family vacation time knowing he was being well loved and cared for.”

“Anna was very flexible with our schedule. Made our dog feel comfortable. Her 2 dogs and cat were super friendly and calm. Didnt have problem welcoming a new dog in their house.”

“Shawna is an incredible caretaker and we couldn’t be happier with the care she provided for Mocha. From the start, it was clear she genuinely loves and understands dogs, and her warmth and attentiveness immediately put me at ease. She went above and beyond to ensure our dog was happy, comfortable, and well-cared for, sending us daily updates and adorable photos/videos that gave us peace of mind while we were away visiting my sick and shut in uncle. Shawna followed our instructions perfectly and truly treated our Mocha like her own. If you’re looking for someone who is trustworthy, reliable, and amazing with animals, Shawna is the perfect choice—we’ll definitely be booking her again!”

“Tara and her family were amazing with my dog. As a rescue, my dog is nervous in new situations. I appreciate all the great care that she provided. My dog had a great time and she cared for her with the same level of care that I would.”

“All I have to say is that I will never take my furbabies to another sitter. Monica is fantastic! They went for walks and played lots! She is VERY understanding of the bullie breed. One of my dogs even had a small blister on his paw. She cleaned it, put on neosporin and wrapped it. I was so happy that she didnt just let it go even though we were picking up in a few short hours.”

I highly recommend Ana and will have Benito staying with her again in the future. I needed help last minute and Ana was quick to respond. She came to our rescue! Benny stayed with her 3 nights and he could not have been in better hands. Her own pets were the most well-behaved, loving dogs I’ve ever met and they treated Benny like part of the pack/fam. It was so cute and I was thankful he was in good company. She sent me constant updates of them on walks, playing, eating, and cuddling. They really bonded and I was only a tad bit jealous lol (mostly just filled with gratitude)! Can’t thank you enough, Ana! You’re the best!

Carla is absolutely wonderful. We went on a a two-week trip overseas and had many things to worry about while we were away, but our sweet pup wasn’t one of them! We knew he was in the best care with Carla. It was super fun and sweet to get her daily updates with how he was doing and all the fun he was having. He thrives when he’s at Carla’s and has the best time with her and all the other pups who come to stay. I’m not sure he wanted to come home 😅 Carla, we’re going to miss you so much 🥹 Thanks for taking such impeccable care of our little buddy!

Jaberlee was an 💖 AMAZING 💖 sitter while I was away on a small birthday trip that turned into getting stuck out of state longer than planned because of a huge blizzard. Not only was she so commutative and responsive to the last minute booking modifications, she sent the cutest pictures of my baby everyday with updates about his eating habits or him slipping on ice while out on potty breaks! 😂 Her Labrador(?) was the sweetest girl and I’m so glad Haru got along with her, as he’s not used to bigger dogs at all. I will 100% book her for future sitting and I 1000% recommend her to anyone looking for a kind and caring sitter in the area. ☺️♥️

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
