“I’m so glad I found Shanae, I was at ease while I was away. I loved the pics and videos she sent daily. I felt like my Frankie preferred being in a home environment where he can get 1:1 attention versus a boarding facility with dozens of other dogs.”

“Savannah was absolutely amazing with my dog. She was very responsive and sent me daily photos and texts to let me know how my fur baby was doing. Her farm is perfect for dogs and she took them on walks around the walking paths.”

“What a God send! Janeen is such a kind and caring individual with obvious patience and compassion. She asked all kinds of follow up questions to make sure kitty would be as comfortable as possible in his home away from home. Janeen was very communicative and sent pictures and videos throughout the day every day. The family even moved some items around to allow kitty to climb on and around freely. I wish I lived closer to this wonderful family as I would 100% use their services again. They were thoughtfully accommodating knowing we were already away from home on vacation and even made some suggestions for local activities my family and I could visit. Do not scroll pass this couples profile I highly recommend this home for your pet baby needs.”

“Amy was amazing! We were a little nervous about leaving our dog with someone we didn't know. Amy immediately put us at ease and made us feel like our pup was the most important dog on the planet. She is extremely professional and answered all my texts quickly. She provided photos and updated us with how things were going daily. After meeting her we knew she would care for our dog like she was one of her own. She was extremely flexible at changing the dates of stay when I'd accidentally clicked the wrong days. Even though they were very last minute. Her compassion for animals is truly genuine as evidenced by the model she's set for her children. They, too, took to our dog and treated her like a real princess. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter for our pupper.”

“Ciara was wonderful, very kind and patient with our crazy little doggie!! I’m sooo incredibly thankful that she was willing to take care of our doggie, even though she was a bit high maintenance. Wonderful dog loving person with a big heart and kind family. I would recommend her services.”

“Ryan and Stephanie are wonderful! My Charlie had such a good time! I am sure if he wants to come home! Thank you Ryan and Stephanie for taking care of our ? pup”

“Constance was excellent and very patience with Blake. She followed his scheduled feeding routine, administrated his medicine, and was willing to learn how to administrate his Insulin injections. I was very impressed on how professional she was. She gave me a daily update on how things was going, as well as, providing pictures. That reassured me and definitely put my mind to rest. I would definitely use her again and would definitely recommend her.”

“Caitlin and her family took such great care of Harper! We received multiple pictures and updates of Harper enjoying his stay and getting so much attention! Caitlin is very quick to respond to any questions/messages and I will definitely book with her again!”

“Christene was awesome! I needed a last minute sittter for Arya and she had availability. There were other precious dogs there as well, and they were so cute! Arya was well taken care of and she seemed happy over all. Which makes me happy as a dog mom!”

“Highly recommend Kacie to anyone!!! We are semi-new to the area and needed to find someone to watch our 8 year old dog while we were away for a week trip out of the country. Kacie offered up doing a meet and greet which was extremely helpful. She answered all of our questions and made us feel so comfortable. While we were away, she sent daily pictures and updates. We didn’t have to worry at all! Our dog loved his time with Kacie and will definitely be having her watch our sweet pup again.”

“Kyle was amazing. My dogs are often tough to deal with. Both Kyle and his wife were amazing. Theo dog koda got along well with all three of my dogs. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone to watch their pets.”

“Tara and her family were amazing with my dog. As a rescue, my dog is nervous in new situations. I appreciate all the great care that she provided. My dog had a great time and she cared for her with the same level of care that I would.”

“Dickson and Maria took wonderful care of our 16 year old beagle mix. We received daily updates with pictures/videos. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that our dog was getting plenty of time and attention, and excellent care. It’s difficult to leave a senior dog, but Dickson and Maria did wonderful, I had no worries at all!”

“Another amazing stay with Jay! My fluff nugget had a wonderful time on vacation, with his second mom, just like every time he stay with her. But she’s a tough act to follow. When he gets home, I’m going to fail at keeping him stimulated. But he will have the memories to hold him until his next vacation! Thank You Jay, for showing him a fabulous time and as always, for making him feel right at home!”

“Janel was awesome! She is so sweet and updated my every day on my dog even the day I dropped him off, which was a big deal to me because it was his first time staying with her.”

“Amazing people, big backyard. Audi (pup) interaction was amazing, the way he was happy to give her kisses which reassured me he had a good time. Came home with pup and he plop right on the floor from the amount of fun he had. 100% will book again!!!!!!”

“Milena was great! She treated my boy like one of her own. She was communicative and sent lots of pictures as I was initially anxious about leaving him. Thank you so much for treating him well! We will be booking with her again!”

“Sandra and her family are great! Both of our dogs instantly felt comfortable with them and so did we. We found Sandra to be patient and kind to our boys and had no doubt they were in goods hands while we were away. She checked in with us often to let us know how they were doing. Great job Sandra!”

I highly recommend Ana and will have Benito staying with her again in the future. I needed help last minute and Ana was quick to respond. She came to our rescue! Benny stayed with her 3 nights and he could not have been in better hands. Her own pets were the most well-behaved, loving dogs I’ve ever met and they treated Benny like part of the pack/fam. It was so cute and I was thankful he was in good company. She sent me constant updates of them on walks, playing, eating, and cuddling. They really bonded and I was only a tad bit jealous lol (mostly just filled with gratitude)! Can’t thank you enough, Ana! You’re the best!

Carla is absolutely wonderful. We went on a a two-week trip overseas and had many things to worry about while we were away, but our sweet pup wasn’t one of them! We knew he was in the best care with Carla. It was super fun and sweet to get her daily updates with how he was doing and all the fun he was having. He thrives when he’s at Carla’s and has the best time with her and all the other pups who come to stay. I’m not sure he wanted to come home 😅 Carla, we’re going to miss you so much 🥹 Thanks for taking such impeccable care of our little buddy!

Jaberlee was an 💖 AMAZING 💖 sitter while I was away on a small birthday trip that turned into getting stuck out of state longer than planned because of a huge blizzard. Not only was she so commutative and responsive to the last minute booking modifications, she sent the cutest pictures of my baby everyday with updates about his eating habits or him slipping on ice while out on potty breaks! 😂 Her Labrador(?) was the sweetest girl and I’m so glad Haru got along with her, as he’s not used to bigger dogs at all. I will 100% book her for future sitting and I 1000% recommend her to anyone looking for a kind and caring sitter in the area. ☺️♥️

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
