“Michelle was AMAZING with my dog. My dog is a special needs dog. (He can't do stairs, has anxiety accidents, needs medication, etc.) I so rarely leave my dog with anyone else because of this. But Michelle didn't make any of his needs feel like a burden. Her and her family were so warm toward him and very attentive to his idiosyncrasies. He got along with the kids, who were sensitive to his need to warm up to people. He ran around the house and was so happy to be there with the family. Michelle sent updates multiple times a day with pictures/videos and a report on how he was doing: if he went to the bathroom, what he ate, and what his mood was like. I will be booking with her again and will very easily recommend!”

“Kendra was great! This was Yasha’s second time staying with her in less than a month. Goes to show how reliable she is and how comfortable she makes you feel, leaving your fur baby with her. She truly cares. I appreciate all the photo’s and updates as well. It’s good to know my baby is having a good time while I am vacationing. No more guilt! lol”

“Ashley and Brownie were great! I took our puppy to meet Ashley and her apartment was spotless and her dog was gentle and playful. Ashley was very comfortable answering all the questions of a new puppy mom and made me feel that my puppy would be happy in her home! I plan to use her again and would recommend her highly! Thanks, Ashley! Beverly Noffsinger”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Donnetta! She stepped in at the very last minute when I needed help, and from the moment I dropped my dog off, I knew he was in caring and capable hands. She sent me daily updates and photos of my furry family member, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She also took the time to offer thoughtful suggestions on ways I could better care for him, showing that she genuinely cares about the health and well-being of every pet she watches. What truly impressed me was that she even called to check on him after he returned home. That level of compassion and dedication is rare and meant so much to me. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your pet like family, I wholeheartedly recommend her. I would trust her with my dog again without hesitation!”

“During July 4th, we planned on going out of town for the weekend. We were impressed with Julie's rover profile and decided to contact her. We were able to meet up with her twice, once so that she could see our dog, and the second time so that Mozzie could check out her place. This was the first time since adopting him over a year ago that were had ever boarded him somewhere, so we were understandably nervous about it, but Julie proved to be a great sitter. She sent us status updates and pictures while we were away, so that we could know what Mozzie was up to. When we came to pick him up, she also helped us with tips and ideas on how to help Mozzie socialize with other dogs. We could definitely tell that Mozzie was in good hands. Definitely recommended!”
“Laneise made boarding with her so easy. She was so chill and flexible about drop off and pick up during the hectic holiday and that helped a lot! Our dogs loved being at her house and felt right at home. She has a lot of experience with animals and grooming so that is a huge plus! We are so thankful to have found her and will definitely use her again in the future.”

“Aaren and Jordon are practically family now. This is the second time they have watched my girl and they take the BEST care of her. They love on her, make sure she is getting fresh air, and even take her on outings. I almost hesitated to write this review because I don’t want yall to know how great they are and then start taking all to spots - just kidding! I can’t be selfish! Everyone deserves to feel the peace I feel when my pup stays with them ❤️.”

“Amazing sitter that sent lots of pictures and videos keeping us in the loop. Really set our minds at ease so we could enjoy our vacation. The only downside is our dog misses all the play time she got already!”

“Kyndra was a great match for Otis. Otis is not a high energy dog and Kendra has a calming demeanor and home environment. We appreciated the messages, pictures, and videos she provided throughout his stay. Without any hesitation, we would book Kyndra again.”

“We dropped our dogs off for the weekend and they had a blast! We received pictures the whole time and pick up and drop off was easy. Our younger dog gets anxiety and we dropped off his medication with him, Shay was great to work with! We will definitely be using her again for our pups”

“Another great stay with Amanda and Scott for Buddy! I can see from the pictures they send what a great time he is having and know he is loving the love he is getting.”

“I was extremely satisfied with the care Bentley received while with Amanda and her family. Her fur babies were very welcoming to Bentley and I felt he was happy with his new friends. To my surprise, they went on a “field trip” where they were allowed to run off leash and smell and play in a very large confined space . I worried he would not want to leave with me and leave his friends behind. I highly recommend Amanda and will definitely use her in the future!!”

“This was our first time using a new sitter form rover and we had a great experience! Very responsive and gave us daily updates on our doggy. Well definitely use again.”

“Hilary did an exceptional job with taking care of our dog, Rio. We received photo updates multiple times a day, and she took our dog out for so many outdoor adventures everyday. I honestly think our puppy, Rio, was having such a wonderful time with Hilary that she didn’t have any reason to miss us! Will 100% recommend Hilary to all rover users, and hope to work with her again in the future!”

“Jonathan was absolutely amazing!! My family found my puppy Coco in the park, a man just dropped her and her sister off in a box and left. So ever since we got her Coco has had very bad anxiety. I needed a sitter and I was very nervous because she has anxiety. However, after talking with Jonathan and having a meet and greet, my nerves slowly faded away. Jonathan sent updates and videos of Coco, and Coco ended up getting comfortable with the other dogs and played. Jonathan’s an amazing sitter and I’d definitely hire him again!!”

“Pamela and Paul are legit ‘dog people’. They got to know Ollie pretty quickly and confidently helped him ease into a friendship with Marlowe and another client. I received the usual photos of Ollie with a ball or snuggling humans, but was surprised to also receive photos of Ollie playing and snuggling with the other dogs, which was a whole new experience for him! I’m happy to know he was so well taken care of during his time with Pamela, Paul and Marlowe and will reach out again for future boarding!”

“Callie put me at ease about leaving my furbaby and answered all my questions without hesitation. Her dog Barry is sweet and really laid back. As partners you couldn’t ask for a better pair. Callie sent pics and updates throughout to continue to ease my own anxiety. It’s priceless knowing your furbaby will be loved on while you’re sway. Will definitely book again.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
