“Julie is a perfect pet sitter. She shared questions to help me explain all about my little dolly. She shared daily reports and pictures while my dolly was there. When I met her and Eric at our home visit, I felt immediately comfortable and knew she would do a terrific job taking care of my baby and she did. I'm looking forward to setting up another stay when I go away this spring.”

“Amanda did a fantastic job with Willow. I was impressed with Amanda’s follow up. I received pictures multiple times a day. She understands that Willow is my world. She made sure that I knew that Willow was eating interacting with the other dogs and comfortable where she was. Not only will I rebook with Amanda. I already have.”

“Victoria took such good care of our pup when we were gone for a 10 day vacation. He was happy to play with the other dogs and loved being able to roam the house and lounge on the couch. Victoria will be our go-to when we go on vacation moving forward. You can rest assured that your pup will be in great hands if she's the sitter. Highly recommend!”

“Quick and easy drop off. Lily is a rescue, been with us for six months, but opened up quickly to her and her family. (Sorry that she’s a Velcro dog!) Sent daily photos, but frequency could drop—I was admittedly nervous. I appreciate Shay’s patience and accommodations.”

“Stacey is so great with my Puppy Poppy! We are still crate, potty and puppy manner training and she was able to keep up with training while we were away. I loved getting updates and pictures throughout the weekend and even was able to keep her an extra night because we were stuck in traffic and wouldn’t get back until later than expected. Poppy had a wonderful time and says she can’t wait until her next stay with her new friends!”

“Amanda and her family are amazing. Oliver had a great time and they took fantastic care of him! We received photos and updates each day! She’s super easy to communicate with and we will definitely be using them again! We felt safe and could enjoy our trip knowing our baby was well taken care of.”

“Donetta was very easy to work with prior to Charlie‘s stay and during his stay. She was very prompt responding to our questions and sent us daily updates with pictures each day. We feel like Charlie enjoyed his stay and we certainly will try to use Donetta again.”

“Teona and Louelyn were very nice to Copper. I was worried about leaving my puppy but he was in good hands. She even let me know when he was not eating good and asked if she could feed him what she feeds her dogs. She sent me pictures and videos of his time there. I will be using them again.”

“Im so glad my little guy got to stay with Emily and her daughter! He came home happy and healthy, and Emily sent some photos and updates while we were away. Great and quick to communicate! Highly recommend.”

“Kyndra was a great match for Otis. Otis is not a high energy dog and Kendra has a calming demeanor and home environment. We appreciated the messages, pictures, and videos she provided throughout his stay. Without any hesitation, we would book Kyndra again.”

“Echo loved all of the members (2 and 4 footed) of the family! Even though they had a lot going on, Jennifer let me know how things were going and was so sweet and considerate of his special food and supplements and his separation anxiety. I am so grateful that I found ya'll and that you are nearby. Thank you so much!”

“My cockapoo had the best time in Susan's home. I don't think he was ready to leave. She sent me multiple pictures each day and set my mind at ease. I will definitely trust her with my little one again.”

“Lyra and Scott and their family totally loved on our little Sassafras. We are so appreciative of their care and all the pictures and updates. I would recommend them to anyone looking for care for their fur babies. Will use them again! ?”

“Hilary and Willy were awesome. Super flexible and understanding. Peach came back happy, healthy, and exhausted. I will definitely use them again in the future!”

“Aaren & Jordon are truly wonderful puppy sitters! Throughout my pup’s stay with them, I received multiple updates during the day of the fun activities they were getting into. We were put at ease and loved to see our girl so happy while we were apart! We are thankful for them for welcoming our pup into their home with open arms.”

About: For the last 5 years, I've been volunteering care for a herd of goats on Gillie's Creek Park. I am also the primary farm sitter for several friends' homesteads and a frequent pet sitter for friends and acquaintances. I have a broad range of experience: handling elderly animal care, newborn feeding/monitoring, pet anxiety, unique medication/feeding schedules, and general care for most farm/domesticated animals. I have a deep love for animals and their welfare with a desire to assist you and your pet in any way possible. I'm currently working part-time with a very flexible schedule. Typically not away from home for more than 3 hours at a time during marked available hours. My schedule can be adjustable if coordinating in advance. If caring in your home, I ensure that all items are back where they were originally left and that all feeding bowls and areas accessed are cleaned and organized. My home has a fenced-in yard, plenty of plants, natural lighting, and no other pets to contend for attention or food.
“Ellysia is the best! My pups had the greatest time with her and her family. Updated daily with pictures and activities. We will definitely be using her again and recommend her hands down.”

“Michelle & her family were great! We felt so comfortable leaving our little Kashi with them. Kashi’s tiny & a bit older, and knew she would love to cozy up with them and she did. Thanks for your you so much! We’d definitely recommend Michelle to anyone needing a sitter.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
