“Kayce was wonderful! My good boy, Twix, needs a lot of play and attention. The boarding was only for three days, but I was still worried. Kayce made those worries vanish after the meet and greet. She was super understanding, very attentive, and gave Twix all the attention and care he needed. She was very thorough in going over what he needed and sent me regular updates on how he was doing. I can't recommend her more.”

“Kelsey took very good care of my doggie. She provided updates throughout the day and my lil doggie looked so calm and content. I would definitely recommend Kelsey. ☺️”

“Finn had a wonderful time. He was so exhausted from all the playtime that he fell asleep on the drive home. It is so nice to know your fur baby is having so much fun and not missing you at all. We will definitely use Lucky again!!”

“Tianna is great! She took excellent care of my pup. I didn’t have to worry about him while I was at a concert. Her location is about 10 minutes from Kings Dominion & the Meadow Event Park. It’s very convenient, Your dog will be the only pet while at her house. That’s a plus if yours is spoiled like mine. I will definitely book her again in the future!”

About: I have lived dog with multiple dogs my whole life. I have 5 years of experience in the veterinary world that has broadened my horizon to the variety of breeds out there and the different requirements they need. I also specialize in medicating our furry friends in the most stress-free way possible. I have experience training my own service dog from 8 weeks old to present and continue to keep his training up to date. I also specialize in hospice care for our are geriatric puppies, because no matter how old they are, they are always puppies to us. I am currently pet sitting for people Part-Time. my goal is to make caring for animals my full-time job. While I continuemaking commissioned pet portraits! Along with other commissions for various prints and paintings. At my house, dogs will eat separately from other dogs for safety and have long line leash walks for potty breaks. If a pet is known to have toy aggression, toys will be taken out of the equation. I do have a service dog that comes with me everywhere including my clients homes. If a client 's pet is dog aggressive or the cats are scared of dog, I will not have my service dog interact with them to give comfort and safety for all.
“This was my pup’s second stay with Michelle and it went just as smoothly as the first time. I always get nervous leaving my dog for any period of time, but especially for long trips. Michelle is thoughtful and welcoming and does an amazing job taking care of my dog.”

“Shay and Jake took such great care of our puppies. As soon as we met them and their awesome kids, we knew that our boys would have a great time while we were out of town. They had plenty of playtime, outside walks, and cuddles with the whole family. The care and security they provided gave us a peace of mind that we have not had with some of our local dog kennels. We will definitely be repeat clients.”

“Cali loves spending time at Jays ☺️I am so grateful she takes amazing care of her and sends me updates throughout the day! She is a 100% responsive and attentive I truly appreciate her !”

“Thank you Abreya for taking great care of our old 11 year old gal, Lacey. We booked semi last minute for 6 nights & we’re glad we found Abreya! She promptly coordinated a meet & greet at the local park and asked great questions that made us comfortable with her care. During Lacey’s stay, we asked for more photos and she quickly adjusted for us. As anxious dog parents, this was huge. We think Abreya would be a great fit for any dog as she listens great to both the owners & pets needs so be sure to speak up if you’re like us. See you next time, Abreya!”

About: • Home full-time • Only 1–2 guest dogs at a time • Large fenced backyard • Constant supervision • Family environment • Daily enrichment and play • Red Cross Pet First Aid & CPR Certified • 30 years of dog experience • Meet & greet required for every new client. Dogs have been a part of my life for over 30 years, and caring for them is one of my greatest passions. I've raised and trained my own dogs throughout my life, volunteered with pet shelters and continued expanding my knowledge by learning from professional dog trainers, working with a canine behaviorist, attending obedience classes, and reading about canine behavior and psychology. As a Stay at home Mom, I'm home most of the day allowing me to provide constant supervision, companionship, and individualized care. Your dog will enjoy a large, securely fenced backyard, a calm cage-free environment (unless you provide your own crate), and lots of love and attention. I intentionally limit my care to no more than two guest dogs at a time so every dog receives personalized care. A meet-and-greet is required before the first booking to ensure everyone is a good fit. Guest dogs must be at least one year old, house-trained, friendly with other dogs, and comfortable around children ages 4 and 7. I do not accept puppies or cats to my home. My goal is to provide a safe, loving home where your dog feels like part of the family while you're away. Where dogs spend the day like part of the family! As a stay-at-home mom, I'm home throughout the day, allowing me to provide frequent potty breaks, playtime, companionship, and constant supervision. I intentionally accept a limited number of dogs so each one receives individualized attention. Enrichment activities; Snuffle mats Enrichment treats (owner approved, of course) Puzzle toys Backyard sniff sessions Fetch Sprinkler or kiddie pool (seasonal) One-on-one play and belly rubs Your furbaby spends the day: playing sniffing socializing supervised backyard time relaxing indoors napping showered with attention You pick up a tired, happy dog after! Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priorities. My home has a large, securely fenced backyard for supervised outdoor play, and dogs are never left outside unattended. I provide a calm, cage-free environment unless you prefer to bring your dog's own crate. Baby gates are used to separate areas of the home when needed. I accept a maximum of two guest dogs at a time to keep the environment safe and low stress. All guest dogs must be at least one year old, house-trained, fully vaccinated, non-reactive toward other dogs, and comfortable around children ages 4 and 7. I do not accept puppies or board cats. Meet-and-greets are required before every first booking to ensure everyone is comfortable and a good match.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Locust Grove
Amanda is a true pup lover. My dog has anxiety when he leaves home, and usually won't eat or play while I am gone. Amanda's calm disposition and pup friendly home was all it took for him to be comfortable. She had him eating like normal on day one, and living his best pup life with his 2 new best friends. Thank you so much!! Would definitely recommend for anyone whose pup struggles when they leave home!

We recently hired Claire to care for our dog AJ, a 4 year old retriever , while we were away for an entire month. Overall, the experience was excellent, and we felt confident that our boy was in capable hands. From the start, communication was smooth and timely. Claire made sure to ask detailed questions about AJ’s routine, diet, preferences, and quirks, which gave us peace of mind. During the stay, she provided regular updates and photos, showing walks, playtime, and quiet moments — a thoughtful touch we really appreciated. Our dog seemed relaxed and happy upon our return. It was clear Claire took her responsibility seriously and genuinely cared for our pet’s well-being. She was by far our best boarding experience. We would absolutely recommend Claire to other pet owners looking for reliable and attentive care. We’re already planning to rebook for our next trip!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
