“Nadia took great care of my 11-year-old dog Nike. She sent pictures every day of her activity and my dog seems so happy to be among other dogs, which was surprising to me. I would definitely use her again. Nike was in good hands the entire time.”

“Tucker had a great time at Amy’s!! We received photos all weekend long with updates of our pup, he was exhausted by the time we brought him home. Fun weekend with Amy and we will definitely send him back!”
“Raye is a wonderful person and was soooo caring and sweet with my shy girl. She gave her loads of snuggles and attention and sent multiple updates each day via photo and videos. So grateful to her!!!”

“Donetta is the absolute best! She provided regular updates with photos over the course of my pup’s stay. She creates an environment that made my pup feel right at home. I could tell that Fiona had a great time because she came home completely exhausted. Donetta was also flexible when I needed to extend the reservation and additional night. Thank you so much. Highly recommend! Will definitely book again!”

“Damacia was fantastic! Our Goldendoodle puppy loved playing with her dogs and was very well-cared for. She came home clean, happy and tired! We’d definitely recommend and will use Damacia in the future. We are so grateful to have found her!”

“Aaren and Jordan are absolutely amazing, phenomenal pet sitters! From the moment I left Arya in their care, I knew she was in loving and patient hands. They treated her like family, and that meant everything to me while I was away. Their communication was top-tier—they kept me updated consistently with messages and check-ins, which gave me so much peace of mind. On top of that, they were incredibly flexible and accommodating, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. Arya truly found her second home with them, and there’s no doubt they are now her permanent sitters. I appreciate them more than words can express and can’t thank them enough for the love and care they showed my big girl. 💕🐾”

About: I’ve been a dog lover for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my family always had dogs, so caring for them has always been a natural part of my life. I genuinely see animals as family, and I believe they deserve the same love, patience, and attention we give our children. Friends know they can trust me with their pets, and I’ve cared for my best friend’s pug whenever she travels, making sure he feels loved, comfortable, and keeps his routine. My goal is to provide every pet with a safe, nurturing environment where they can feel happy and at home until they’re reunited with their family. Your pup will enjoy a calm, clean, and cozy home where they’ll be treated like part of the family. I work around a flexible schedule, allowing plenty of time for potty breaks, walks, playtime, enrichment, cuddles, and rest throughout the day. My apartment community features a fenced dog park, and we’re surrounded by beautiful walking trails that are perfect for exercise and sniff adventures. Whether your dog loves to play or prefers a peaceful place to relax, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. As someone who naturally enjoys caring for both children and animals, creating a warm, loving environment comes easily to me. I’m patient, attentive, and believe every dog has their own unique personality and needs. Whether your pup enjoys long walks, playing fetch, lounging on the couch, or simply having someone nearby, I’ll make sure they receive personalized care, plenty of affection, and regular updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.
“Carolina was amazing! She just watched my dog for the first time over a long weekend. I usually am hesitant leaving her with new people but she sent me plenty of updates right away and continued them throughout the stay. She walked them a ton, took them to run in a little park and gave Hazy even a nail trim because he nail was getting caught. I have nothing but good things to say and will be booking again for sure!”

“Eric is the best! I recently had a sitter cancel 6 hours before drop-off -- I thought my vacation was ruined! I immediately put out a Sunday morning last-minute Rover requests for a sitter, with very low expectations that anyone would even respond, much less accept. Within a few minutes, Eric responded and then accepted. He totally saved my vacation! After that, he was extremely communicative, but even better, he was perfect for my highly energetic doggo. He gave long dauly walks and play sessions. I knew that my dog would love having his Bucky as a 24/7 playmate, but I was very concerned that he has cats, since Sheba had never seen a cat before. Since she has a high prey drive, I thought there could be serious problems. Eric, however, seems to have a natural understanding of pets, and he was able to safely introduce Sheba to his cats, and apparently there were no issues. Also, Eric was highly flexible when my return flight was delayed by a day, and quickly agreed to extend the stay. I couldn't have asked for a better experience from start to finish.”

“Sheri is fantastic! Her two teens are fantastic as well. I was quite nervous leaving our Great Dane Bodie, but once I met Sheri, I had no doubt he was in the best hands! They definitely had their work cut out out for them because Bodie was the biggest baby and the first few days of his stay was rough. They really worked with him to help him adapt to his new surroundings and by around day 3, he was completely comfortable and started sleeping through the night. I am so thankful for her and her sweet teens for taking great care of Bodie while we enjoyed a vacation with family. Thank you Sheri!”

“My dogs are family to me, so I'm always nervous leaving them somewhere new. No worries needed though, Stacey was great! We had a meet and greet to ensure our dogs got along, and I was able to meet her at her home in advance to see where my dogs would be staying. She asked thoughtful questions about my dogs' needs and made sure I had peace of mind while I was on my trip. She has a fully fenced in yard which was great for my younger, high energy dog to run laps around the house and get her energy out. My dogs have a somewhat significant age range - one is 1.5 years old and the other is 8.5, and she was able to cater to both of their activity levels to make sure they had a fulfilling experience. We will definitely work with Stacey again the next time we need dog care!”

About: I frequently dogsit for friends and family, and I've had my soul-dog for 5 years! She's a rescue shepherd-husky mix and has taught me SO much about training and caring for a smart, high-energy dog! She's entering her senior years and has slowed down a lot, which means I have more time in my day to care for other pups, whether it's a check-in, walk, or boarding in my home. I have a fenced front and back yard, and with my location in Church Hill, there are countless places to walk and explore. I currently work from home 95% of the time! The other 5% is a mix of working at coffee shops and going in to my work's coworking space, but I'm never away from home for more than 8 hours a day. My days are very flexible and I'm happy to work around you and your pup's schedule! I have a fenced front yard that is grassy and a shady, fenced back patio/yard that pups can run around in. I only take 1 boarding or day-care client at a time, so your dog gets my full attention (alongside my pup!). Your dog must be friendly around other dogs for boarding or day care.
“Allie always has such a great time with Teresa - she doesn’t want to leave at the end. We’ve had Teresa as a sitter many times and we feel so safe and comfortable with her. She’s a great communicator and takes the best care of our girl!”

“I was having a rough time finding a sitter in time for my trip and she was perfect for my dog. She sent lots of pictures and my dog got to spend time with other dogs all day and play. She seemed very happy and well taken care of. I definitely recommend her :)”

“Thank you for taking such good care of Toby! We appreciated the photos and updates you sent us. The fact that Josh slept with him downstairs when he was hesitant to go up speaks volumes for how much he has been cared for.”

“Triston watched over our two dogs while we went on vacation for a week and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience we had! Triston has a genuine compassion towards animals that we immediately felt when meeting him. He preferred knowing daily habits and schedules which we really appreciated. We will definitely be reaching back out to Triston again in the future!”

Matt is our go-to! He is absolutely wonderful! Matt is spectacular at communicating and letting us know how our dog is doing. He sends amazing photos! He is thoughtful and caring. We always know our dog is loved and safe when he's with Matt. We would highly recommend Matt!

We could not have asked for a better sitter for Archie! Korri and her family truly welcomed him into their home and treated him like one of their own. It was so obvious from the photos and updates that he was completely happy and comfortable there. He made himself right at home, snuggled in bed, had plenty of companionship, and even developed his own little fan club when Korri’s sister started coming over just to see him! 😂❤️ Korri was wonderful about keeping us updated throughout our trip, and those little glimpses of Archie happily living his best life made it so much easier to be away from him. She also went above and beyond for us when our travel plans unexpectedly changed. We needed to extend Archie’s stay by a couple of days, and Korri could not have been more gracious or accommodating. Then, after a delayed flight home and another unexpected hiccup on pickup day, she was once again incredibly kind and flexible and assured us that Archie was welcome for as long as we needed. More than anything, we never had to worry about whether Archie was safe, happy, or loved. Knowing he was being cared for in a real home, surrounded by people and dogs who genuinely enjoyed having him there, was priceless. We are so grateful to Korri and her whole family for taking such wonderful care of our boy. We would absolutely book with her again and recommend her without hesitation. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough! 🐾❤️

I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! From the very beginning, I felt completely confident that my dog was in loving and capable hands. Tiffany provided excellent care, attention, and affection, and it was clear that my dog was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. She was reliable, responsible, communicative, and attentive to every detail. I especially appreciated the updates and knowing that my dog was being treated like family while I was away. Her genuine love for animals really showed. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can trust completely with their beloved pet. I will definitely use her again! 🐾❤️ Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my fur baby!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
