“Myrna was great with our dog Archie!! She's very experienced with watching dogs and her house seems like a great environment for dogs to have a great time. I'd highly recommend her!”

“From start to finish, Michaela did a wonderful job watching our little dog Coco! She always responded in a timely manner and kept in touch with us, sending pictures and updates daily. We’re so grateful that Coco was loved and taken well care during our trip abroad. We would highly recommend Michaela if you should need a loving and caring pet sitter!!🥰🐾”

“Jennifer is a super sitter! Maya looked so happy and healthy when we picked her up after our Labor Day trip (5 days). I received updates and photos everyday! We were a little worried Maya wouldn’t want to come home after Jennifer took such good care of her! We will be booking with Jennifer again! Thank you Jennifer for giving Maya a loving, safe home away from home!”

“My pom pom loves it there, loves the attention and playtime. I literally had to drag her away and pick my pom up. I choose to just use her,if she’s available.”

“Ronda is amazing, patient, and very caring. She kept my puppy with great care, took him on walks, and sent many pictures timely. We will definitely go back to her next time onwards. Highly recommended.”

“Laura is great with my dog Banksy. He arrives and leaves with a smile. I always know he is safe with her and he enjoys the freedom to play in her backyard and pal around with her dog. She is always very affectionate towards him. We love Laura!”

“Peyton was wonderful! Bentley had a fun time and I never had to worry about him while I was gone. She was also willing to watch him last minute which really helped me out. I would recommend Peyton.”

“Excellen all around! Great communication before and during our trip, with lots of consideration for the dogs’ routines and comfort. Loved all the photos that showed us the dogs were having a great time at “camp” — knowing they were in good hands let us enjoy our trip all the more. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.”

“Camille was awesome! She sent pictures everyday showing how Pepsi was doing, which I must say, he had a great time with her. She was super easy to work with, flexible and understanding. I strongly recommend Camille for her service. I’m confident that once you work with her, you will become a permanent customer to her. Thank you for your great service, Camille!”

“Grace was so welcoming for Oliver's first stay. He enjoyed her yard and hanging with her dogs and their toy basket. Grace shared lots of updates and made sure Oliver was able to settle in quickly. I felt he was in great hands while we were out of town and I look forward to Oliver spending his next stay with Grace.”

“Alexandra watched my kitten, Louis at her home for a couple of nights and was absolutely wonderful! Her dog was also super sweet and got along wonderfully with Louis. Alexandra was very communicative and sent tons of updates and pictures of Louis. I felt completely at ease leaving him in her hands and I would 100% have him stay with Alexandra and her dog again! 😊”

“Vanessa was amazing and shared multiple daily videos and photos of our two dogs during their almost 5 day stay with her. We highly recommend Vanessa to anyone with dogsitting needs!!!”
“Susan is not only a wonderful sitter, she loves pets like as if they were her own! Susan has been sitting my 2 long haired cats since March when I had an unexpected death in the family. I could not find anyone to sit for my 2 cats with such short notice, I was in a pinch. Susan came to my rescue and responded quickly! I'm till this day very grateful to her! When I came back from my trip and picked my cats up from her, I had a hard time getting them back in their carrier! They didn't want to leave! I was so happy that my cats felt comfortable with Susan. I didn't mind them not wanting to leave and giving me a run around her house for half an hour trying to get them in their carrier. Susan is loving, caring and very knowledgeable about cats and she has given me pointers on challenges I have had with my cats, so she is not just a person that watches your pets. I'm very happy I found Susan, she is wonderful and my cats love her! I highly recommend her services!”

“My dogs are cuddlebugs, but Cassie made their first time away from me a breeze. Followed all instructions to a T, and checked in every single day with tons of photos and videos. I cannot say enough good things about the EXCELLENT care Cassie provided my family. She even followed their walk schedule. I appreciate Cassie and her family. I also know, she's my dog sitter of choice moving forward. Peace of mind and where you leave your babies is everything!”

“Natasha and her family took care of our dogs like they were members of their family. Other places offered our dogs to " let out" every few hours from a shed. Natasha looked after our partially deff and blind senior citizen pug and our ball obsessed boarder collie in their own home. The dogs were always around someone who could play and love on them.”

“Donetta is simply amazing. She’s my only dog sitter turned friend in the RVA. She takes care of my fur baby, Blu as if she’s her own. Blu gets excited as soon as we pull up to her home. If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would!”

“Anne was awesome with caring for our Teagan. She loved her like she was her own little puppy! I know Teagan felt loved and well cared for. She doesn't snuggle with just anybody! :)”

5 Stars all the way! Diva and Bossman lived their stay with Shakita. Shakita was attentive and snuggled the dogs, giving them the much needed hugs and attention they wanted. We will be coming back to have Shakita take care of them again! The dogs were happy, and Shakita took pictures throughout the weekend, which was so nice knowing that these babies were truly calm and happy! Can’t wait to book again with Shakita!

Riley was absolutely wonderful with my cat Toby! She sent me pictures and videos of him every day, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She was very accommodating to his needs and so sweet with him. I could tell he was comfortable and happy in her care. Would absolutely recommend boarding your cat with Riley — she’s the best!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
