“Lorena was great. My Fur babies were treated just like at home. She was able to keep them on a short notice. She sent me great updates and pics. I will definetly recomend Her to all my pet loving friends and family. Thanks again to Lorena and her family for taking loving care of my babies. And thanks to tank too.”

“Krystal and her husband were great! She was very communicative and flexible. Our cat was well cared for and had lots of fun with their cats. We will definitely schedule again in the future!”

“Sharisse and her family were great hosts!! Mateo felt comfortable from the moment he got there!! She sent photos and videos of him playing, walking and having fun. We will definitely rebook. Thank you for taking such good care of him while I enjoyed my vacation.”

“Michaela was absolutely fantastic with Zephyr and it was so clear he had such a great time with her this weekend! During our stay she sent tons of pictures to keep me updated on what Zeph was up to and was very communicative throughout the whole rover process. We met ahead of time during a meet and greet where Zeph got tons of time to get to know his new aunt Michaela and vice versa and it was clear to see how great she was with handling him from the start. We will absolutely be back and are so happy to have met you! Thanks so much for taking such great care of Zephyr!”
“My husband and I booked with Denise two days prior for our last minute little weekend get away . Denise responded in 10 minutes and set up a meet and greet and we enjoyed the meet and greet so much we booked her . She gave us a run down of everything and she interacted well with our Laika girl. She even accommodated the fact that Laika isn’t good with being around other dogs. She gave my baby girl one on one time and kept me updated throughout my entire vacation. We was able to enjoy a vacation and Laika was able to enjoy a mini vacation as well. When we picked Laika up she told us just how lucky we were to have Laika and called her the “model boarding dog“ . We will absolutely be using her services again in the future. Felt good to trust someone with my pup and treat her like their own, so much that Laika didn’t even seem like she wanted to leave.”

“Paris had a wonderful time with Amy and her family. We really appreciated the updates and photos. Paris came home happy and relaxed! Will definitely call on Amy again!”

“We were gone for 3 days and got constant updates and pictures and videos. When we picked up our Dixie she was wore out from all the fun she had. Could not recommend more. Will continue to use Heather anytime we need to go out of town. Thank you for treating Dixie as your own!”

“Excellent sitter. She was so professional and caring. She walked him she played with him. I got pictures everyday. Bruno got along with her baby. They became good buddies. I can tell Bruno miss Snoop her pet. When I have to go away again I definitely want Myrna to be the sitter. You will feel good about leaving your pet with her”

“Natasha and her family took care of our dogs like they were members of their family. Other places offered our dogs to " let out" every few hours from a shed. Natasha looked after our partially deff and blind senior citizen pug and our ball obsessed boarder collie in their own home. The dogs were always around someone who could play and love on them.”

“Jennifer is awesome. We have a German short-haired pointer, and he is very high energy and is a handful. But Jennifer does so well with him and Kennon has grown close with her (and perhaps claimed her house as his). Going to keep using Jennifer. Whenever taking trips I have no worries that our pup is in good hands.”

“Great sitter! Have booked many times. He's so great with my dog. She has separation anxiety- Phillip takes such good care of her. He is attentive and caring. Highly recommend”

“Im so glad my little guy got to stay with Emily and her daughter! He came home happy and healthy, and Emily sent some photos and updates while we were away. Great and quick to communicate! Highly recommend.”

“My pom pom loves it there, loves the attention and playtime. I literally had to drag her away and pick my pom up. I choose to just use her,if she’s available.”

“Mila had a great time! Peyton (and company) were very accommodating for a last minute need. I received updates with pictures showing what a fun time Mila had.”

“Rebecca was able to take our pet over Thanksgiving week as our regular sitter had an emergency. She met with Olympia and from there our we knew our pet was in good hands. Although we were away, we knew our pet had plenty of company to keep her to keep her occupied and entertained in our absence. Thank you Rebecca for opening your home for our girl and keeping her safe until our return.”

“Home away from home! Lesley loved on our two sweet fur babies as if they were her own. It was great to know that our babies were loved on and part of a family while we were away. Thank you!!”

“Elizabeth was great with our needy, hyper puppy. I needed a last minute solution to watch our puppy during a work trip. He is awaiting knee surgery so he has physical limitations at the moment. Elizabeth took excellent care of him and sent frequent updates with pictures to let me know how he was doing. I will happily take Moose back to her in the future!”
“Laura was fantastic with our 10 year old Lab! A tidy, animal friendly home with a big backyard makes for a comfortable stay for furry family members. She was very friendly, flexible, and responsive. She sent great photos and videos. I would highly recommend Laura M.”

Kelsi was truly wonderful! She took care of our 11-year-old girl for three weeks, who has severe separation anxiety. She was patient, attentive, very accommodating, and she made Belle feel safe and loved. Kelsi is a true dog lover, and I can assure you that your pup will be in amazing hands with her! Thank you so much Kelsi!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
