“Moose always loves staying with Michelle and her sweet pup, Milo! He gets excited when he recognizes where we are and I always know Moose is in great hands!”

“Lucky and Matt kept our two dogs for a week and provided excellent care! They provided daily updates with pictures and my dogs had a great stay. We will definitely be returning!”

“We felt completely at ease leaving our dog with Radka and her family. We got lots of pictures and videos of her stay. She had lots of room to run and play, both inside and outside, and she easily adjusted to being away from us for a week. We will definitely be booking another stay!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs my entire life, growing up in a home with multiple pups of all sizes. From feeding and bathing to long walks and playtime, I’ve always been hands-on in making sure they’re happy and well cared for. In addition to dogs, I’ve also raised birds, turtles, and fish, so I’m comfortable caring for a variety of animals. I understand that every pet has its own personality and needs, and I always aim to make them feel safe, loved, and at home. I currently work from home so I’m able to provide physical comfort and stimulation via petting and playing with toys. We also have a dog park where I can take your pet for off leash running around and fetching. I have experience providing oral medicine for dogs. I allow dogs on furniture and free roaming in the house, but if you have a crate and wish to bring it just let me know. Please provide any instructions on feeding schedule or items.
“Im so glad my little guy got to stay with Emily and her daughter! He came home happy and healthy, and Emily sent some photos and updates while we were away. Great and quick to communicate! Highly recommend.”

“They took care of them very well! We were worried because our dogs have limited human interactions, but she assured us that they were really good. We were very scared putting them in someone else's care but they did above and beyond, especially for the dogs temperaments. Thank you!”

“Jennifer and her home are perfect for our big, friendly dog. She was very welcoming and the yard was super - big enough for squirrel and rabbit sniffing,- but small enough for safety close to the shady deck! Her place was dog safe and had dog toys tucked away to find. He really enjoyed his over night stay and doggy play day. Will visit again.”

“Henry had a great stay. He is always happy to come back and receives a lot of care and love during his time at Matt's. We appreciate the reliable updates and flexibility.”

“This was our first time having Laura for our two Labrador Retiever rescues and from the moment she met our dogs, it was clear that we were dealing with a genuine animal lover. Her demeanor was gentle, patient, and attentive, instantly putting our pets—and us—at ease. She took the time to get to know our dogs’ personalities, quirks, and routines, asking insightful questions and listening closely to our concerns. We received daily updates, complete with photos and descriptions of how our dogs were doing. Her transparency and positivity turned what could have been a source of anxiety into a source of joy. We certainly plan on having her care for out pups again.”

“Myra went above and beyond for our dog! We had booked another sitter for a week who backed out 3 hours into the reservation. Myra changed her schedule to take our Yorkie, Buttercup. She said Buttercup arrived smelling like pee and skittish. She bathed her and she and her daughter cared for her like she was their own. We returned to a happy and well-cared for pup. We got pictures and updates every day. I felt completely comfortable and happy with our dog in Myra’s care.”

“Laura had my dog nova for a week.Great with keeping you updated on your pet.Nova had a blast will definitely use Laura again. My dog was sad to go home that’s how much fun she had”

“Camille was awesome! She sent pictures everyday showing how Pepsi was doing, which I must say, he had a great time with her. She was super easy to work with, flexible and understanding. I strongly recommend Camille for her service. I’m confident that once you work with her, you will become a permanent customer to her. Thank you for your great service, Camille!”

“Denise treated my girls as family. I was so at ease while on vacation . She sent me weekly updates ( video and pictures ). I knew my babies were in good hands. Denise is very personable and friendly. We will definitely be using Denise again !!! She will love your furbabies as her own while she has them !”

“Ronda is amazing, patient, and very caring. She kept my puppy with great care, took him on walks, and sent many pictures timely. We will definitely go back to her next time onwards. Highly recommended.”

“Five-star experience! Boone was so well-cared for and clearly loved the extra attention from the whole family. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend stay. Michelle is super communicative and flexible, making everything very easy.”
About: I’ve had animals growing up ever since I was little. I’ve grown up with 4 dogs in the household and currently have my own. I absolutely adore all animals and would love to take care of your beloved animal I work and go to school daily but during the summer, I can definitely be more free. I always take breaks to walk the dogs around the neighborhood. I always be adequate to feed them and give them water throughout the day at their assigned eating times! If the dog is crate, trained to sleep in the crate at night, they’re welcome to sleep in the crate or if the owner wants, they can sleep in the bed with me. I do not mind.
“We had our first experience with Amanda and family, and it was a long stay, over the holidays. I couldn’t have asked for a more thoughtful, loving, and kind family to take care of Rufus. From the very beginning, they went above and beyond—even the whole family came out together during the initial meet and greet to meet him, which meant so much to us, and I had no doubts our dog was going to have the best time and be in such great care. Rufus was treated like one of their own, made fast friends with Amanda’s dog (a bigger win than one might realize!) , and absolutely loved having the space to run around and play. We were so grateful for all the updates and communication throughout his stay—it gave us such peace of mind knowing he was in great hands. Their flexibility was also such a gift during a busy time. We’ll absolutely be booking with Amanda again and recommending them 100% to anyone looking for a sitter. Thank you so much for taking such incredible care of Rufus!”

“Jesse was so great with Zoey. He sent lots of photos, took her on a lot of walks and spent cuddle time with her. It’s clear he truly loves animals. We’d love for Zoey to stay with Jesse again.”

“Adam was an EXCELLECT sitter! You can tell he has the patience and passion to engage positively with your dog!!! Great customer service and communication! Would rebook again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
