“My dog had a really lovely stay with Alexandra, she was very attentive and sent many updates! She was able to take my dog after another sitter cancelled, and I greatly appreciate that”

“Im so glad my little guy got to stay with Emily and her daughter! He came home happy and healthy, and Emily sent some photos and updates while we were away. Great and quick to communicate! Highly recommend.”

About: Large fenced in backyard. Daily walks when weather cooperates (often times twice a day). We have a sweet old pup who still loves to play and would love a friend. We have had dogs all our lives and give lots of love. Will send pics daily or more often as desired. Our two boys are very sweet to dogs and are excited for more pups to play with and cuddle. I work from home and get up super early so I have time for walks before work. Work is flexible so I can care for the pup(s) as needed throughout the day. My 8 year old son gets home from school at 3 and would love a pup to play or hang out with. I have a large fenced in backyard and a sweet old pup who still likes to play and would love the company. Our house is large and spacious and we have a nice soft couch where our dog loves to lay. We have dog beds, dog bowls, and leashes in case you need to borrow ours. We offer lots of love and play time. Our two boys (8 and 5) have endless energy for playing with dogs and are very sweet with them. Daily walks (often times twice a day) if weather allows.
“Grace is amazing! She took wonderful care of Boogie and sent us tons of pics of our lil guy! Communicative and friendly — I had such great peace of mind while we were away and knew he was in good hands. Boogie came back a happy dog :-) Would definitely recommend her to anyone!”

“Amanda was the greatest puppy sitter while we were out of town for a week. We looked forward to her texts with photos and videos every day. My 2 had a great time with her 2 ❤️ We will definitely have Amanda watch our babies again. Thank you!!”

“She is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! I literally felt comfortable the minute I met her and my fur baby was comfortable very quickly, this is my new sitter!!!! I love her!!! She is highly recommended ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”

“Shakita is the best. She's super accommodating, she took my morkiepoo in after I booked the night before and took great care of him. She sent several update pictures and videos throughout the entire stay and made me feel so at ease leaving my dog with someone else. It was the first time he boarded with someone and I'm excited to board with her whenever the need comes up again. Highly recommend if you've got a nervous little pup and you're worried about leaving them with someone else. He seemed really happy during his visit and afterwards.”

About: I’m a teacher, and I love dogs! Over the summer, any excuse to get outside and spend time with dogs is a good day for me. I would love to spend some time with yours! I have a rescue dog currently, Bruno. I’m on summer break, so I am not working full-time right now. I have plenty of time to give to your dog this summer! I am often walking every morning and afternoon anyway. I can help out in any way that’s needed. I love taking walks, and I’m always up for going the long way! For drop ins, I will give your pets some love and whatever else they need!
“Ashley and her partner were wonderful! This was our puppy’s first night away and they made both us and her feel immediately comfortable. They are knowledgeable about dogs and kept us updated throughout the stay. Even the kids were great and helped her get some energy out! Would absolutely book with them again.”

“We love Damacia, and so does our Onyx. She has taken care of him since he was a young puppy and has even provided insight/suggestions in things to add into his daily routine. He has grown a lot and LOVES her so much.”

“During July 4th, we planned on going out of town for the weekend. We were impressed with Julie's rover profile and decided to contact her. We were able to meet up with her twice, once so that she could see our dog, and the second time so that Mozzie could check out her place. This was the first time since adopting him over a year ago that were had ever boarded him somewhere, so we were understandably nervous about it, but Julie proved to be a great sitter. She sent us status updates and pictures while we were away, so that we could know what Mozzie was up to. When we came to pick him up, she also helped us with tips and ideas on how to help Mozzie socialize with other dogs. We could definitely tell that Mozzie was in good hands. Definitely recommended!”
“Michaela was AMAZING! So sweet and attentive to Violet, and sent lots of updates and pictures throughout the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. She administered Violet’s medications and special food three times a day with no issues and made everything feel effortless. Michaela was also very easy to schedule with and super responsive with communication. We’re so grateful to have found her and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our pup! From the moment we dropped her off, we felt completely at ease. Saryah went above and beyond—sending regular photos and videos, taking her on walks, and even making time for trips to the dog park. It was clear she was not just cared for, but genuinely enjoyed her stay. Our dog came home happy, calm, and clearly well-loved. We’re so grateful and will definitely be booking again!”

“My three and a half year old golden retriever has never been so happy to see me go on a trip! She had a great time with Geraldine and her family. They made her feel welcome right from the start and treated her like a princess throughout the long holiday weekend. She was happy to see me when I got back but, after a few minutes of wiggle butt and some attention, she laid down and decided she was staying. She’s never been that at home anywhere! I’m so grateful, I enjoyed my vacation knowing my little girl was well taken care of.”

Kristen and Chris live a bit further from us now but it is totally worth it to drive a bit for the peace of mind of our Luna being in such good hands while we are away. She also loves their new big yard! She and Wallace are great doggy buddies too. She is happy as a clam when she is there 😊

Cyndi was fantastic! Our Jack can be a little nervous with new people, and he has some separation anxiety and anxiety with thunderstorms, so he’s not the easiest. Cyndi was a super star who Jack warmed up to quickly. She gave us regular updates and sent lots of lovely photos that put us at ease to know that Jack was happy and doing well. Unfortunately, a thunderstorm rolled in late at night while Jack was staying with her, but Cyndi went above and beyond to fashion a blanket fort for Jack, which is what makes him feel most comfortable in these moments. It was late at night and I’m sure that Jack was keeping her awake, but she was so fully focused on making him comfortable. Really glad to have found such a high quality level of care for our lil guy, and we’ll have no worries when we leave him with her next time during our wedding weekend!

We highly recommend James! This was our first time leaving our dog overnight with a non-family member, so we were very nervous! It couldn’t have gone any better. James provided us with great updates during our time away and put our minds at ease! We could tell that our guy was having a blast. He cried the entire way home because he was sad to leave! Thank you taking such good care of him, James!

MeiLin and Ben took such wonderful care of our dogs while we were out of town. From the moment we dropped them off, it felt like we were leaving them with good friends, or their favorite aunt and uncle. MeiLin is an excellent communicator and kept us updated with plenty of messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. One of our dogs is a little anxious, so we’re always nervous about leaving him, but they went out of their way to help him feel safe and right at home. It didn’t take long before he settled in. Our other dog, Bacon, was clearly living his best vacation with belly rubs, treats, walks, and lots of love!

Michelle & her family were great! We felt so comfortable leaving our little Kashi with them. Kashi’s tiny & a bit older, and knew she would love to cozy up with them and she did. Thanks for your you so much! We’d definitely recommend Michelle to anyone needing a sitter.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
