“Very happy with the boarding service for my dog Shelby while I was in a hospital for a few days. She did a good job caring for and communicating with updates. there was an escape but she was open about it and made sure to send updates when my dog was found.”

“Amber did a great job taking care of our 18 month old dog,Blu. She sent in frequent updates about him. She was kind enough to accommodate our last minute requests.Definitely recommend her!”

“Colleen provided Dailey pictures and gave us back a happy and healthy pup! She was extremely responsive and had a fabulous home that was pet friendly. We will definitely book again ?”

“Miranda was so communicative with every step of the process. She kept me updated daily with McCoy's 9 day stay with her and her wonderful family. She even answered questions afterwards and I'll happily rebook with her next time I travel.”

“Elizabeth is very easy to communicate with and consistently sends updates and pictures when’s shes watching my dog. Drop off and pick up are always easy as well. Highly recommend her! 😀”
“Ashley was amazing! Chessnut had a wonderful time with her and her dogs, and I got a ton of check ins and pictures. It was wonderful to not have to worry whatsoever about my pup when I was travelling. I will definitely book with Ashley for boarding again!”

“Fantastic experience with Miss Aubrey. Kept us updated while we were away with pictures and even video. Mac was incredibly happy playing with her dogs and visiting with her family. We appreciate all she did while we were away to take care of our buddy Mac hoping she has availability the next time we’re away. Five star for sure.”

“Doris was absolutely amazing! She took such great care of my fur baby, and it was clear he adored her. She is kind, attentive, thorough, and very professional. She kept me updated throughout my time away, which gave me so much peace of mind. I will definitely be booking with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.”

“We were so glad to find Lori at the last minute before our 10 day trip. She was accommodating and responsive throughout the whole process. We felt very at peace with our dogs being at her house and spending time with her family. We received updates and pictures almost daily and could tell Lori took good care of them. We will definitely use her services again.”

“Thomas was great! He agreed to board Oakley with only a few days notice. Oakley was very comfortable at our meet and greet and was well cared for all week. We got frequent photo updates, and it was clear she was having fun with her new buddies. We will definitely use Thomas again. Thank you!!”

“Julie is awesome! She went way above and beyond what I expected and made huge efforts to make Ginger (my high-energy Harrier) comfortable in her home. I love that she used positive reinforcement to keep Ginger inline instead of negative feedback. Ginger even escaped from her house and thank goodness Julie was able to call her back. Julie sent tons of updates via video and pictures keeping me well informed of everything going on during her stay. Ginger had ZERO separation anxiety when I picked her up and brought her back to my house. She normally has very extreme separation anxiety and I was out of town for a long time, so this was a HUGE relief for me (and Ginger I imagine as well!) Having Ginger stay in a loving home environment was so much better for her than the typical dog boarding environments. I feel like I picked up Ginger from an extended sleepover, not an exity filled environment typical to boarding. I highly recommend Julie to watch your pet!!! Your little one will feel so loved and welcomed. Julie is awesome!!!”

“Keith was great with Teddy Bear. He kept in touch with pictures daily. That really helped destress me since I don't like leaving my furbaby, and love actually seeing he was being well taken care of. I highly recommend Keith, and plan to use his service again in the future.”

“Pepper enjoys returning to Cyndi’s home! Dog friendly, accommodating, lovely back yard and walking spaces. Squirrels to watch, too. She is very attentive and lets him out for early morning potty needs.”

“I was so impressed with Matt! He sent updates and pics of my pups and they had a wonderful visit with him. We will definitely be booking with him whenever we stay in Richmond.”

“Libby was a lifesaver for us. She took care of our geriatric Golden for three days while we were away, then stepped up for an additional four days at the last moment due a a medical emergency, even buying addition food and supplements as needed. She is clearly a dog lover, and our Golden was very comfortable and well cared for with her and her two dogs. Excellent communication and lots of photos completely set our minds at ease at a time when we didn’t need any additional worries. We even got a thorough report-card and little polaroid of our Golden when we picked her up. I can’t say enough good things about Libby. Your dog would be very lucky to have her as a sitter.”
“Caitlyn and Sam were so great with my dog and truly treated him like family! My dog can be a handful so having a sitter who enjoys him as much as I do is very important. I will definitely use them again!”
“Christina and her family were amazing with our skittish girl. She communicated every day with status updates and I felt her compassion in every message. She put our minds at ease which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy the vacation. Will book her again for future boarding stays.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Midlothian
This was the second time Jocelyn watched my dog, and once again she was absolutely fantastic! She kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. My dog had a little anxiety and some tummy issues while I was away, and she handled everything with patience, care, and great communication. It was clear that she genuinely cared about my dog's well-being and made sure she was comfortable every step of the way. I couldn't ask for a better sitter and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and compassionate. We will definitely be booking with her again if she'll have us!

We are so grateful we found Aubrey! Our Koji and Hana are used to constant company and are miserable when crated and left alone, that is NOT a worry you will not have with Aubrey! From the minute we stepped into her home on our Meet and Greet, we knew we had won the lottery :-) Aubrey welcomed the pups to enjoy the large comfy sectional and freedom to explore her lovely home! During our vacation week, we were sent many cheerful pics of our Koji & Hana enjoying their time away from us, which in turn allowed us to enjoy our week at the beach without all the guilt of leaving them behind! If you have the opportunity to book with Aubrey, we highly recommend doing so! You will not regret it! We are so happy to have made a new friend, one who loves our pups as much as we do! Aubrey is definitely a FIVE STAR dog sitter (we do not considered her a dog sitter, but rather a trusted fellow dog lover who will watch & love your pup as her own)

Caitlyn and Sam were absolutely phenomenal, I have nothing but the best things to say! This was our first time ever using Rover so we were a little nervous but it went so smoothly that we will absolutely use them again. They took the best care of our girl (who is still a bit of a puppy AND has some medical needs) and sent lots of pictures/updates. They are the BEST, highly highly recommend!!

Andrea and Ali have taken such amazing care of our two doodles! They treat them like family and truly love them as if they were their own. Andrea always does a wonderful job brushing out their coats, so they come back feeling soft and fresh. Ali would regularly send videos of him playing fetch with them — something our doodles absolutely love. Andrea and Ali set a standard for Rover sitters that far exceeds our expectations, and one I can't imagine ever being matched. We couldn't give a more heartfelt recommendation!

Our 2 senior dogs loved staying an extended weekend with Nuoya and her family! We did a meet and greet prior to booking to make sure all our dogs got along with each other. They asked a lot of important questions about schedules and needs. While we were gone we received pictures every day as well as any important updates. Our dogs received all of of the love and care I could have ever hoped for with a sitter. I can't recommend them enough!

Wonderful experience! It was our first time in leaving our dog with a pet sitter so we were worried, but Janeth was always in touch, sending us pictures and updates. She is a very professional and kind person. Special thanks for her being so flexible in our dog drop off and pick up (it was early in the morning). Definitely recommend Janeth to everyone who is looking for a person to trust your dog to.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
