“Im so glad my little guy got to stay with Emily and her daughter! He came home happy and healthy, and Emily sent some photos and updates while we were away. Great and quick to communicate! Highly recommend.”

“Doris was absolutely amazing! She took such great care of my fur baby, and it was clear he adored her. She is kind, attentive, thorough, and very professional. She kept me updated throughout my time away, which gave me so much peace of mind. I will definitely be booking with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.”

“Caitlyn and Sam were so great with my dog and truly treated him like family! My dog can be a handful so having a sitter who enjoys him as much as I do is very important. I will definitely use them again!”
“We had such a great experience with this couple watching Kuna! From the start, they made us feel completely comfortable and at ease. They sent lots of pictures and updates, which really helped reassure us that Kuna was happy, safe, and well cared for. It was clear he was loved and treated like part of their family. We truly appreciated the communication and attention they gave him. We would absolutely book with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for caring, trustworthy sitters!”

“Elizabeth was excellent, one of the best pet sitters I have interacted with through Rover and beyond. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my dog with her again as she was very responsive and caring. She regularly sent updates and pictures without me ever having to ask for it. She made sure my pet got to enjoy long walks, had enough play time and was tired out. I have used her service twice and I have been pleased both times. Her calendar seems pretty full so I will be sure to ask her in advance next time. Seriously, the best!”

About: I have had many cats throughout my life! I love them with all my heart and I’m very educated on felines. I have a cat, his name is Marble. I’ve had him since he was about 5 weeks. He’s now 2 years old. I adore dogs just as much! I have watched many medium and small sized canines. My first job was dog walking when I was 14. Pet care seamlessly integrates into my daily routine as a full-time writer and filmmaker. My flexible schedule and frequent downtime make it easy to care for my pets. I give dogs and cats all the love and attention they need. I provide playtime, feedings, walks, baths, and medications. Having had mischievous cats myself, I am very attentive to every animal in my care.
“Julie was a perfect hostess to our pup - Tasha enjoyed their large fenced yard and was very happy and at home, very well cared for! Julie provided pics and updates daily. We will use her again for certain.”

“Julie is a perfect pet sitter. She shared questions to help me explain all about my little dolly. She shared daily reports and pictures while my dolly was there. When I met her and Eric at our home visit, I felt immediately comfortable and knew she would do a terrific job taking care of my baby and she did. I'm looking forward to setting up another stay when I go away this spring.”

“Cyndi was absolutely wonderful with my dog Sweet Potato. She sent pictures and videos while I was gone, which made me so happy she was being well cared for. This was the longest I have ever left my dog and I felt no fear knowing my dog was in such great hands. She treated my dog as if it were her own and I would highly recommend to anyone searching for a reliable and caring sitter.”

“Hilary did great with my girl Hope! Hope is a high maintenance doggo but she was comfortable with Hilary for the duration of her four night stay. I will definitely be booking with Hilary again in the future!”

“Fantastic experience with Miss Aubrey. Kept us updated while we were away with pictures and even video. Mac was incredibly happy playing with her dogs and visiting with her family. We appreciate all she did while we were away to take care of our buddy Mac hoping she has availability the next time we’re away. Five star for sure.”

“Christina is an awesome dog sitter! Super nice and caring. She kept us in the loop with updates, pics, and videos while we were away. The backyard is a game-changer, especially for our lively Aussie and big Old English Sheepdog. Thumbs up for keeping our pups happy! And we will definitely book with her again! 🐾”

“Kendra did amazing Niko!! She let us know how he did every single day with a detailed explanation which made me feel super comfortable. She kept my mind at ease. Will forever be going to Kendra ❤️”

“We would absolutely go with Caitlin in the future. Her and her family did such an amazing job watching our sweet rambunctious Percy. She even had a sweet little story about Percy’s stay that she gave us when we picked him up. Overall, just a great energy and wonderful backyard for our Percy to run around and be free in. 10/10. Highly recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Midlothian
Laura and her family were terrific with our Rusty pup! The best part was knowing that he was being loved and enjoyed- I am truly in awe of their ability to welcome someone else's dog into their home as if it was their own! Their backyard was lovely, communication (and pictures) excellent- their service and care made leaving town so much easier! Thank you Laura!

This was the first time we have used Rover and we couldn’t be more pleased and happy! Tonya was absolutely the best. She organized a meet and greet months ahead of time at her house to be sure Kipper felt comfortable. We were a bit nervous leaving an elderly dog who is mostly blind and deaf for 2 weeks, but Tonya took the very best care of him!

Cassandra exceeded our expectations! She sent us pictures and taught us how to include doggy diapers in his life! He enjoyed his “summer camp” and gave us the relief of knowing he was not only well cared for, but loved. We don’t leave him often, but will 100% ask Cassandra to watch him for us if we go away again. Thank you, from, Barbara and Shelley
Boarding our dog Nova with Kristina, Ricky, and their two sweet kids was great! They were super accommodating with a fairly last minute request, and they took excellent care of her. Communication was a breeze, and we got plenty of photos and updates throughout the trip. She got a ton of attention and playtime during her stay, and seemed right at home when we picked her up! Would absolutely book with them again!

Caitlyn and Sam were absolutely amazing with our beagle, Gary! He can be a little nervous at first, and big noises tend to scare him, but they were incredibly patient, understanding, and gave him all the time he needed to settle in and feel comfortable. Their communication was outstanding from start to finish, which gave us so much peace of mind. They kept us updated with messages and photos, making it easy to relax knowing Gary was in such great hands. Since we were out of the country, their updates and communication meant even more. It truly felt like Gary was staying at his home away from home. Their girls adored him, and it was obvious that he was loved and cared for like one of their own. I honestly can’t say enough positive things about this family. They made us feel completely at ease, and knowing Gary was in such caring hands meant everything. If you’re looking for a safe, loving, and welcoming home for your pup, I highly recommend Caitlyn and Sam. We will absolutely be booking with them again!

This was the second time Jocelyn watched my dog, and once again she was absolutely fantastic! She kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. My dog had a little anxiety and some tummy issues while I was away, and she handled everything with patience, care, and great communication. It was clear that she genuinely cared about my dog's well-being and made sure she was comfortable every step of the way. I couldn't ask for a better sitter and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and compassionate. We will definitely be booking with her again if she'll have us!

We are so grateful we found Aubrey! Our Koji and Hana are used to constant company and are miserable when crated and left alone, that is NOT a worry you will not have with Aubrey! From the minute we stepped into her home on our Meet and Greet, we knew we had won the lottery :-) Aubrey welcomed the pups to enjoy the large comfy sectional and freedom to explore her lovely home! During our vacation week, we were sent many cheerful pics of our Koji & Hana enjoying their time away from us, which in turn allowed us to enjoy our week at the beach without all the guilt of leaving them behind! If you have the opportunity to book with Aubrey, we highly recommend doing so! You will not regret it! We are so happy to have made a new friend, one who loves our pups as much as we do! Aubrey is definitely a FIVE STAR dog sitter (we do not considered her a dog sitter, but rather a trusted fellow dog lover who will watch & love your pup as her own)

Andrea and Ali have taken such amazing care of our two doodles! They treat them like family and truly love them as if they were their own. Andrea always does a wonderful job brushing out their coats, so they come back feeling soft and fresh. Ali would regularly send videos of him playing fetch with them — something our doodles absolutely love. Andrea and Ali set a standard for Rover sitters that far exceeds our expectations, and one I can't imagine ever being matched. We couldn't give a more heartfelt recommendation!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
