“She was wonderful with my nervous boy Tony! She was a pleasure to work with, communicated updates and shared pictures, accommodated my last minute change to sitting itinerary and is very caring to others. 10/10 my dog sitter from now on ❤️”

“Tucker had a great time at Amy’s!! We received photos all weekend long with updates of our pup, he was exhausted by the time we brought him home. Fun weekend with Amy and we will definitely send him back!”

“First time having my dog watched by Zach he did everything I asked of him and more and on top of that was extremely friendly and kind! My dog had an accident or two didn't, cause a issue about it while I was for business I would definitely recommend leaving your dog with him”

“I could not possibly speak more highly of Dawn. She was in constant communication providing updates and photos of our dog and you can tell she genuinely loves taking care of pets. She was incredibly understanding and went above and beyond when our family was unexpectedly stranded on our way back from our vacation.”

“Talen is the best, very patient my Cane Corso is very timid and anxious and Talen knew just what to do. You can tell she loves dogs. I will be booking her again, I almost didn't want to write this because I don't want her to get too many customers and we can't user her again. Lol”

“My goodness you cannot ask for a better pup-sitter! Shay kept me updated the whole time with photos too! She loved on my pup like she was her own. Thank you so much for taking care of Buffy while we were away! She was well taken care of and loved.”

“Was such a great host of my cat pumpkin. Sent timely updates and made sure to get the cutest pictures of her back to me during her stay! Definitely hope to book her again in the future.”

“It's a wonderful thing when you can go on a trip, when having to leave your companion in the care of someone else, and have no worries as to how she's being cared for. Thank you guys : )”

“Donetta is the absolute best! She provided regular updates with photos over the course of my pup’s stay. She creates an environment that made my pup feel right at home. I could tell that Fiona had a great time because she came home completely exhausted. Donetta was also flexible when I needed to extend the reservation and additional night. Thank you so much. Highly recommend! Will definitely book again!”

“Kristen, Christopher, and Wallie were such wonderful hosts! SweetPea came home a tired and happy girl. Kristen and Christopher were so great to work with and we feel comfortable knowing SweetPea went to such a loving home. Wallie is such a sweet boy and I know SweetPea already misses hanging with him. Highly recommended for your pups!”

“Zulema came to us super happy. She got home & slept all day! So I can tell she had tons of fun & was taken care of! Abby is an excelent communicator & made sure to send pictures and updates. 10/10”

“Susan was so great at communicating and sending pictures of my sweet boy Frisco! I definitely feel like we have found our Dog Sitter! Very smooth meet and greet and they worked things out with me when I was running late for pick up! I definitely will be calling again when I need a dog sitter!”

“My dogs are family to me, so I'm always nervous leaving them somewhere new. No worries needed though, Stacey was great! We had a meet and greet to ensure our dogs got along, and I was able to meet her at her home in advance to see where my dogs would be staying. She asked thoughtful questions about my dogs' needs and made sure I had peace of mind while I was on my trip. She has a fully fenced in yard which was great for my younger, high energy dog to run laps around the house and get her energy out. My dogs have a somewhat significant age range - one is 1.5 years old and the other is 8.5, and she was able to cater to both of their activity levels to make sure they had a fulfilling experience. We will definitely work with Stacey again the next time we need dog care!”

“Excellen all around! Great communication before and during our trip, with lots of consideration for the dogs’ routines and comfort. Loved all the photos that showed us the dogs were having a great time at “camp” — knowing they were in good hands let us enjoy our trip all the more. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.”

“Thank you so much to Le’Quitta and her family for taking such great care of Boss ☺️ She kept me updated with pictures and communicated well. Will definitely be rebooking! We knew he had a good time when he slept the majority of the day when we got him home❤️ Thanks again!!!”

“Michaela was AMAZING! So sweet and attentive to Violet, and sent lots of updates and pictures throughout the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. She administered Violet’s medications and special food three times a day with no issues and made everything feel effortless. Michaela was also very easy to schedule with and super responsive with communication. We’re so grateful to have found her and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Tiffany was awesome, she took Roxie very last minute with open arms. She sent me pictures throughout the duration & kept me updated. I felt very comfortable & will definitely be back.”

“We love Elizabeth, who takes such good care of our dog. Lots of photos and updates from Elizabeth while we are away, and we can see that our pup is having lots of fun and is very happy.”

“I needed a sitter for my puppy as I was going out of town for the weekend. I was so thankful that Cindy was able to take care of my baby while I was away. Cindy updated me and sent pictures to ensure me that August was ok.:) This was very first time using Rover and it was a great experience.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fort Lee
This is our first time having Alexandria watch our dogs. My older dog can't see or hear much anymore and I get a little over whelmed at the thought of someone else watching my dogs. She was fantastic I got photos and updates and my dogs looked very comfortable with her. I will absolutely use Alexandria again.

Yolanda was AMAZING! She provided lots of videos and pictures of our baby and took great care of him! She will definitely be our sitter when visiting home! We didn’t worry a bit about our baby while in her care. Also very communicative! To top of it off she gave us a very cute thank you card🥰

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
