“We were incredibly anxious to leave our Dharma puppy. She has never been without us since joining our family at 10 weeks. But we had to go out of town and Lisa was extremely communicative, she sent pictures, and reassured us every chance she got. We are really happy and highly recommend Lisa.”

“If I could give 100 stars I would for the exceptional care Sarah gave to my baby I would. Not only did she care for Penny as if she was her own, this was the first time Penny has been left with anyone other than family, and Sarah made Penny feel as though she was family. I would recommend Sarah to service your pet without hesitation only when I wouldn't need her again, period!”

“Deven and Tyreek were amazing! They took great care of my dog and kept me updated with photos. You can tell they really love animals — my dog was happy and comfortable the whole time. I’ll definitely book with them again!”

“Kaitlin was awesome. She took our dog on short notice, over a busy week. Really appreciative of her taking her on such short notice. Sent pictures often, and let us know how she was doing. Our dog was nervous in a strange home, but she was understanding of that.”

“We have just moved to the area, and this was our first time using Lucky. She sent us photos of our dog every day and was wonderful to work with. Also, our puppy came back smelling great, which was a bonus! We will definitely be using her in the future!”

“Denny was an awesome sitter for my little mami. I had to book him last minute because of some arrangements with my business trip and he was willing and friendly enough to take my puppy. The communications were clear and consistent. Throughout my trip I reached out to Denny to just check up on my baby and he was communicating very well as well as sending pictures. I will definitely book with him again and is looking for him to do dog sitting during the day while I’m at work 10 out of 10, I highly recommend.”

“Jay did a phenomenal job taking care of our Onyx while we went out of town. She sent us lots of pictures updating us on what he was up to while we were gone. She was also reinforced what we were doing at home, and then some. I can tell she is very knowledgeable and cares about all the doggies she cares for. Will definitely be booking her again when we need boarding for Onyx!”

“Alison was amazing with our pup Tilly! she was very welcoming and kind! she kept us updated with texts and pictures which was very nice and thoughtful! Tilly definitely had a blast in her care and she didnt want to leave!!! Alison was also very accommodating when we had flight delays which was super helpful. we will definitely book again! my husband and I trust her 100%!”

“Candice is amazing!!! I don't have any human children and Daisy is my only Fur Baby so it's always extremely hard to leave her. Candice was so caring and welcoming, Daisy felt at ease almost immediately which provided a level of comfort and peace that I haven't experienced with any other sitter. The pictures and updates allowed me to further relax, especially considering how happy my baby looked. I highly recommend Candice and will definitely contact her first for all of my pet-sitting needs.”
“Tracey has always been caring to Bud as one of her own. She has made sure that Bud feels comfortable in the new surroundings and provided care even when had to take some meds. She periodically sends updates on how Bud is doing and gives me detailed feedback upon pick up. My Bud (dog) is very comfortable at Tracey's.”

“Shay and Jake always do a wonderful job with our dog Maple, but this time they truly went above and beyond when she had some tummy trouble. Leaving Maple with them feels like leaving her with family.”

“Shannon was wonderful! She provided so much love for our pitbull, Jaxon. She sent us updates and pictures. He played, snuggled, and really seemed to have enjoyed himself. Shannon's compliments and messages really put my and my husband's hearts at ease. Will definitely use her in the future.”

“So appreciative that Kourtney took such great care of our 2 pups over a holiday week. She sent frequent updates and pics, and gave them so much love. Her home and yard are awesome for them to run around!”

About: I have lived dog with multiple dogs my whole life. I have 5 years of experience in the veterinary world that has broadened my horizon to the variety of breeds out there and the different requirements they need. I also specialize in medicating our furry friends in the most stress-free way possible. I have experience training my own service dog from 8 weeks old to present and continue to keep his training up to date. I also specialize in hospice care for our are geriatric puppies, because no matter how old they are, they are always puppies to us. I am currently pet sitting for people Part-Time. my goal is to make caring for animals my full-time job. While I continuemaking commissioned pet portraits! Along with other commissions for various prints and paintings. At my house, dogs will eat separately from other dogs for safety and have long line leash walks for potty breaks. If a pet is known to have toy aggression, toys will be taken out of the equation. I do have a service dog that comes with me everywhere including my clients homes. If a client 's pet is dog aggressive or the cats are scared of dog, I will not have my service dog interact with them to give comfort and safety for all.
“The sweetest people and very accommodating ! I was very comfortable leaving Ben. They have plenty of yard for Ben to play with Buddy and Lucy. He came home so tired I know he had a great time! I would definitely recommend and will be a return customer!”

“This was my pup’s second stay with Michelle and it went just as smoothly as the first time. I always get nervous leaving my dog for any period of time, but especially for long trips. Michelle is thoughtful and welcoming and does an amazing job taking care of my dog.”

Siobhan was great! She kept me posted about Shade and sent pictures. I liked she had other dogs for Shade to interact with. A plus is Siobhan’s location is very convenient to where I live. This is the third time I requested her services, however was only fortunate to book twice. Very pleased and would recommend!

We were lucky to find Perl Palace and Rikki for a last minute 4th of July weekend. Looks like Layla enjoyed the time with them and their other pet clients 🐕 . Rikki sent us daily pics and feedback, Perl was also good and gentle with Layla at meet up. We will for sure request their service again in the future 🙂

Ellysia was an absolutely superb animal sitter for my dog and cat! She was always sending updates on my animals and took care of them like they were her own. My pets were so happy and returned very sleepy from all their activity at her house. I absolutely recommend her for all your pet watching needs!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
