“Beverly was AMAZING. Kept in contact with me every step of the way, sent me the greatest photo updates, taught my puppy some new lessons, took incredible care of him, even washed my dishes she returned that my puppy had used while staying with her. I can’t say enough good things about her. I will absolutely be using her every time I go out of town. Her house was an incredible set up for dogs, especially the backyard. My puppy had the best time and didn’t want to leave. Thank you, Beverly!!!”

“It is an oasis for any dog, plenty of attention, play, great yard, and large house. They have thought of everything and gave my shy dog the perfect place to be herself and blossom. Super nice communication too!”

“Ari provided wonderful care at her home for our two good sized dogs aged 12 months and 4 1/2 years. They are back home happy and well-adjusted. Thank you Ari for all the love you and your family gave our dogs!”

“Deven and Tyreek provided excellent care for our dog while we were away and sent photos of her every other day. We really appreciated the piece of mind they provided so that we could enjoy ourselves!”

“Candice is amazing!!! I don't have any human children and Daisy is my only Fur Baby so it's always extremely hard to leave her. Candice was so caring and welcoming, Daisy felt at ease almost immediately which provided a level of comfort and peace that I haven't experienced with any other sitter. The pictures and updates allowed me to further relax, especially considering how happy my baby looked. I highly recommend Candice and will definitely contact her first for all of my pet-sitting needs.”
“This was my pup’s second stay with Michelle and it went just as smoothly as the first time. I always get nervous leaving my dog for any period of time, but especially for long trips. Michelle is thoughtful and welcoming and does an amazing job taking care of my dog.”

“Andrada was wonderful! She sent us daily pictures, videos and updates. She responded quickly and worked with our schedule. I will 100% recommend her. We will most definitely be returning in the near future. Kizzez will miss Molly and Zara ?!”

“Loki and Penny had a great time and I really appreciated getting videos and pictures during their stay with the Thurmans! This is Penny's second stay with them and will use them again if needed. 😊”

“Sara and Jakob were great with Kingsley. They seem to really know animals and how to handle them as well. We needed someone who will provide just the right amount of play and rest for Kingsley as he is a Big Energetic puppy. Sara provided pictures and videos daily and let me know Kingsley's schedule everyday at "winter camp" with her own doggies lol. Two days before the end of our boarding period, I asked if they would give Kingsley a bath at extra cost and they happily said yes even though it was kind of last minute and Kingsley is a big dog! Kingsley came back very clean and happy. We felt good during our time away and was able to enjoy our trip knowing that Kingsley was being taken care of. We are definitely going to take Kingsley to Sara again the next time we are away! Thanks guys!”

“Shay and Jake did an amazing job watching over Wendy. I could tell she was happy and comfortable with all the updates/pictures they provided. Would recommend to anyone who needs a pet sitter in the area!”

About: I have taken care of animals since I was 7 years old and professionally since I was 18 years old. I love ALL animals. I have experience with the following animals: Bearded Dragons, Cats, Dogs, Ferrets, Rabbits, Fish, Hamsters, and Birds. I know how to administer shots and give medications orally to Cats, Dogs, and Ferrets. I believe that pets aren't pets - they are family. I live in a house with my husband, 15 month old toddler, and 2 kitties. I work a 9-5 full time job but can take breaks to help with walks, potty breaks, and feedings. I promise to give all of the love and attention your animal needs. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please reach out to me. Thank you! I have a full-time job however, I can take breaks throughout the day to attend to your animal's needs (walks, potty breaks, food, etc.). I have full availability on the weekends. I have 2 cats who get along with other animals. They roam around the house and tend to do their own thing. Staying in client homes, I will only use items/rooms that I am told can be used. I ALWAYS clean up after myself and will do light housework if asked/needed.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Colonial Heights
If we could give Rikki a 20 star rating we would!! Our sweet Izzy can be a handful/challenge but Rikki quickly figured her out beautifully! Rikki stayed on top of Izzy’s medication, understood her issues and somehow managed to keep up with Miss Izzy and her ways! Rikki sent pictures and updates which we loved- knowing Izzy was cared for made us relax!! We truly/ honestly can’t say enough positive things about Rikki! We feel so fortunate to have found someone we feel comfortable leaving Izzy! If we say more, Rikki may be too booked to keep Izzy in the future!! Definitely recommend Rikki!!!

Siobhan was great! She kept me posted about Shade and sent pictures. I liked she had other dogs for Shade to interact with. A plus is Siobhan’s location is very convenient to where I live. This is the third time I requested her services, however was only fortunate to book twice. Very pleased and would recommend!

Ellysia was an absolutely superb animal sitter for my dog and cat! She was always sending updates on my animals and took care of them like they were her own. My pets were so happy and returned very sleepy from all their activity at her house. I absolutely recommend her for all your pet watching needs!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
