“Cali loves spending time at Jays ☺️I am so grateful she takes amazing care of her and sends me updates throughout the day! She is a 100% responsive and attentive I truly appreciate her !”

“Cyndi was so good with our small, skittish, anxious dog that doesn’t like to be away from his people and who is dog reactive. She provided regular updates and photos and answered any questions before the stay.”

“Julie is awesome! She went way above and beyond what I expected and made huge efforts to make Ginger (my high-energy Harrier) comfortable in her home. I love that she used positive reinforcement to keep Ginger inline instead of negative feedback. Ginger even escaped from her house and thank goodness Julie was able to call her back. Julie sent tons of updates via video and pictures keeping me well informed of everything going on during her stay. Ginger had ZERO separation anxiety when I picked her up and brought her back to my house. She normally has very extreme separation anxiety and I was out of town for a long time, so this was a HUGE relief for me (and Ginger I imagine as well!) Having Ginger stay in a loving home environment was so much better for her than the typical dog boarding environments. I feel like I picked up Ginger from an extended sleepover, not an exity filled environment typical to boarding. I highly recommend Julie to watch your pet!!! Your little one will feel so loved and welcomed. Julie is awesome!!!”

“Thank you so much to Le’Quitta and her family for taking such great care of Boss ☺️ She kept me updated with pictures and communicated well. Will definitely be rebooking! We knew he had a good time when he slept the majority of the day when we got him home❤️ Thanks again!!!”

“Hilary and Willy were awesome. Super flexible and understanding. Peach came back happy, healthy, and exhausted. I will definitely use them again in the future!”

“Michelle was AMAZING with my dog. My dog is a special needs dog. (He can't do stairs, has anxiety accidents, needs medication, etc.) I so rarely leave my dog with anyone else because of this. But Michelle didn't make any of his needs feel like a burden. Her and her family were so warm toward him and very attentive to his idiosyncrasies. He got along with the kids, who were sensitive to his need to warm up to people. He ran around the house and was so happy to be there with the family. Michelle sent updates multiple times a day with pictures/videos and a report on how he was doing: if he went to the bathroom, what he ate, and what his mood was like. I will be booking with her again and will very easily recommend!”

“We absolutely love having a sitter near our home that we can trust and reuse over and over. Blanco is one of the family and I know when I’m away he is enjoying his time and being well kept as well as I will have many updates as to how much fun he is having. We adore Alexandria and her family!!! Thanks for all you do for ours”

“Shay and Jake took such great care of our puppies. As soon as we met them and their awesome kids, we knew that our boys would have a great time while we were out of town. They had plenty of playtime, outside walks, and cuddles with the whole family. The care and security they provided gave us a peace of mind that we have not had with some of our local dog kennels. We will definitely be repeat clients.”

“Callie put me at ease about leaving my furbaby and answered all my questions without hesitation. Her dog Barry is sweet and really laid back. As partners you couldn’t ask for a better pair. Callie sent pics and updates throughout to continue to ease my own anxiety. It’s priceless knowing your furbaby will be loved on while you’re sway. Will definitely book again.”

“I am thrilled to give Jeff a 5-star review for taking care of my furry baby, Happy! Jeff went above and beyond to ensure Happy's happiness and well-being. He sent regular updates, which put my mind at ease, and showed genuine care and compassion for my pet. I'm so grateful to have found Jeff and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and reliable pet sitter. Thank you, Jeff, for giving Happy the love and attention he deserves!”

“Ciara was terrific with Tank. She had him for almost a week and he was acting very comfortable just like he acts at home. He has never been around cats and small children but did great with both. Ciara knew I was concerned and updated me frequently. This was a longer business trip for us and we were so thankful to have found Ciara. We would highly recommend her! She gets 10 stars in my book!”

“Kathy helped watch our dog for a a little over a week while we were on vacation with the family, she was so sweet and loving with our dog Luna that truly gave us peace of mind while we were away. It was the first time we were boarding our dog so we were a little bit nervous about how our dog was going to do without us, but Kathy made her feel so loved and cared for that although she missed us she was happy and loved her new mommy away from home. Kathy went above and beyond to make Luna’s stay a happy and a pleasant one ?? Thank you Kathy!!!”

“This was a great experience for both me and Mila. Tiffany took such great care of my fur baby and sent me pictures so I knew how she was doing throughout her stay! Tiffany will definitely be my go to dog sitter moving forward.”

“Ethel was fantastic with my two high maintenance dogs and took excellent care of them while I was out of town for a whole week. Would 100% have my dogs stay with Ethel again!”

“Joyce was able to help me out in a pinch and my dog had a great time spending the night with her. They even gave him a bath and he was super clean and happy when I picked him up. Wouldn't hesitate to use her again.”

“Susan is super responsive and flexible- which is helpful with last minute work travel! I always receive daily updates and pictures and Goose loves visiting his friend Bailey.”

“Alex was great with Peppa! Always sent photos and videos of Peppa when I was away. She was very prompt in responding to messages and flexible with drop off/pick up times. I definitely recommend her as a Rover!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Highland Springs
This is our first time having Alexandria watch our dogs. My older dog can't see or hear much anymore and I get a little over whelmed at the thought of someone else watching my dogs. She was fantastic I got photos and updates and my dogs looked very comfortable with her. I will absolutely use Alexandria again.

Sarah was wonderful with Kairi! I felt completely comfortable leaving her in Sarah’s care. She sent lots of updates and pictures, which gave me great peace of mind while I was away. I could tell Kairi was well taken care of and happy. I would absolutely book with her again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
