“Newman was so happy in the pics that were sent during his stay. Le’Quitta and her crew spoiled him and took great care of him. Definitely will rebook and use her again!”

“Nala and I love Jay. She has been there the second time, and Nala and I definitely found our person. Nala has a routine with Jay, and I love it. I defined the need to change some of my bad habits in my household. I will rebook for my upcoming vacation.”

“Hilary was an excellent choice for our dog while we were out of town. She sent multiple pictures showing his walks and good times that made us smile and remove any fears we had about using this service for the first time. We will definitely ask her to watch our dog any time she is available when we need it. ?”

“Ciara was great- she sent pictures the whole time we were gone and Liv didn’t even want to leave when we picked her up! And to make it even better Liv was exhausted and slept all day so we could unpack and settle in when we got home!”

“They took great care of our large dog and followed extra care precautions he needed. We were never worried as we got a picture daily with an update. Thanks again and we will use you again soon!!”

“During July 4th, we planned on going out of town for the weekend. We were impressed with Julie's rover profile and decided to contact her. We were able to meet up with her twice, once so that she could see our dog, and the second time so that Mozzie could check out her place. This was the first time since adopting him over a year ago that were had ever boarded him somewhere, so we were understandably nervous about it, but Julie proved to be a great sitter. She sent us status updates and pictures while we were away, so that we could know what Mozzie was up to. When we came to pick him up, she also helped us with tips and ideas on how to help Mozzie socialize with other dogs. We could definitely tell that Mozzie was in good hands. Definitely recommended!”
“She was wonderful with my nervous boy Tony! She was a pleasure to work with, communicated updates and shared pictures, accommodated my last minute change to sitting itinerary and is very caring to others. 10/10 my dog sitter from now on ❤️”

“First time having my dog watched by Zach he did everything I asked of him and more and on top of that was extremely friendly and kind! My dog had an accident or two didn't, cause a issue about it while I was for business I would definitely recommend leaving your dog with him”

“Michelle was AMAZING with my dog. My dog is a special needs dog. (He can't do stairs, has anxiety accidents, needs medication, etc.) I so rarely leave my dog with anyone else because of this. But Michelle didn't make any of his needs feel like a burden. Her and her family were so warm toward him and very attentive to his idiosyncrasies. He got along with the kids, who were sensitive to his need to warm up to people. He ran around the house and was so happy to be there with the family. Michelle sent updates multiple times a day with pictures/videos and a report on how he was doing: if he went to the bathroom, what he ate, and what his mood was like. I will be booking with her again and will very easily recommend!”

About: Large fenced in backyard. Daily walks when weather cooperates (often times twice a day). We have a sweet old pup who still loves to play and would love a friend. We have had dogs all our lives and give lots of love. Will send pics daily or more often as desired. Our two boys are very sweet to dogs and are excited for more pups to play with and cuddle. I work from home and get up super early so I have time for walks before work. Work is flexible so I can care for the pup(s) as needed throughout the day. My 8 year old son gets home from school at 3 and would love a pup to play or hang out with. I have a large fenced in backyard and a sweet old pup who still likes to play and would love the company. Our house is large and spacious and we have a nice soft couch where our dog loves to lay. We have dog beds, dog bowls, and leashes in case you need to borrow ours. We offer lots of love and play time. Our two boys (8 and 5) have endless energy for playing with dogs and are very sweet with them. Daily walks (often times twice a day) if weather allows.
“I was extremely satisfied with the care Bentley received while with Amanda and her family. Her fur babies were very welcoming to Bentley and I felt he was happy with his new friends. To my surprise, they went on a “field trip” where they were allowed to run off leash and smell and play in a very large confined space . I worried he would not want to leave with me and leave his friends behind. I highly recommend Amanda and will definitely use her in the future!!”

“Stacey took great care of my dog and made me feel at ease leaving her for a week. I knew she understood my concerns and was on the same page about safety and making sure my dog got along well with hers. I got plenty of updates while I was gone, and my dog had a great time with no stress, which is exactly what I was looking for! Can’t thank her enough!”

“She was the perfect sitter! She had great communication! I loved the videos she sent! I felt so good talking to Shanisse! She made me feel so comfortable leaving my little pup there. She was great!”

“Miguel took the time to listen about Hudson’s needs during his day. They took pictures every day and sent me videos. They were great. He was in a good environment and his home is definitely dog friendly. I would recommend them anytime. I’ll be using them again in the near future.”

“Laura was fantastic with our 10 year old Lab! A tidy, animal friendly home with a big backyard makes for a comfortable stay for furry family members. She was very friendly, flexible, and responsive. She sent great photos and videos. I would highly recommend Laura M.”

“I can’t recommend Kelsi enough! She took amazing care of my Great Dane puppy, Wax, over the weekend. From the moment I dropped him off, I felt completely at ease knowing he was in great hands. My favorite part of the experience was all the pictures Kelsi sent—seeing Wax play and enjoy himself made me feel so relieved while I was away. When I picked him up, he was happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved. Kelsi truly went above and beyond, and I’ll absolutely trust her with Wax again. Five stars all the way!”

“Jonathan was great! He was very responsive. He was flexible with my meet and greet and drop off/pick up times. My pup came home happy and tired from spending a weekend with Jonathon’s playful poodles!”

“Kendra was great! This was Yasha’s second time staying with her in less than a month. Goes to show how reliable she is and how comfortable she makes you feel, leaving your fur baby with her. She truly cares. I appreciate all the photo’s and updates as well. It’s good to know my baby is having a good time while I am vacationing. No more guilt! lol”

“Im so glad my little guy got to stay with Emily and her daughter! He came home happy and healthy, and Emily sent some photos and updates while we were away. Great and quick to communicate! Highly recommend.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mechanicsville
Jasmine was such a caring and sweet person to watch over Meimei! I asked to book with her the day of since my travel plans had changed and she was so accommodating and flexible. I really appreciated the last minute booking and how communicative she was. She sent great photo updates and I knew I could trust her with Meimei. I’ll definitely be back since I can tell Jasmine really takes care of the dogs and gives them a great experience when they stay with her!!

My dog has been a couple years now. We had this pet family. For us we do long stays & short I’ve been in Florida,Chicago, out the country Bahamas. I rather use this family for long stays. Because my dog knows this family. If you have flights just always communicate with your pet sitter. Me& my husband both like this family.

Nancy was absolutely wonderful! She and her husband took care of my Maddie as if she was family. I received constant communication and prompt responses when checking in during my trip and coordinating drop off/pickup. Nancy was even kind enough to take Maddie a day early when inclement weather caused travel plans to shift. She also notified me right away when she noticed Maddie was scratching more than normal and was quick to offer suggestions to help her feel more comfy. As an anxious dog mama, I felt at ease knowing she was being so well cared for.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
