“Chynna took great care of my Junie while I was away. She followed all instructions, sent me lots of photos, and kept me informed on how Junie was doing on their walks. I will definitely be using Chynna again for any dog sitting needs!”

“Kayley is wonderful! I am so happy to have her walk my dog Bilbo during the day, especially during the winter months. He liked her instantly and was very happy to walk with her. I highly recommend her!”

“Alyssa is a pleasure to work with. She’s friendly and flexible. When I get home at the end of the day Mabel is always in a good place when she’s had a walk with Alyssa.”

“Rachel was great! She was very communicative, followed our requested directions completely and Chase loved his sniffaris! We highly recommend Jessica when you're in need of someone to look after your furry kids.”

“Stephanie was fantastic! She was right on time, super professional, and took great care of my puppy—making sure he got his walk and was fed lunch right on schedule. I had a great experience with her and wouldn't hesitate to book her again. Highly recommend!”

“Steven has helped us a few times now. He is always extremely responsive, responsible and the dogs love him! (The cats don't talk as much but I'm pretty sure they think he's fine.) We are so grateful to have Steven to help us. He took our oldest dog out for a walk by herself and then came back and got the other, more rambunctious ones!”

“Caitlin just started with Bailey this past week and she did such a great job with him . She made me feel so comfortable and I immediately could see how much she loved Bailey and he liked her . Professional reliable and great communication! I’m happy and plan to keep using her every week !”

“Natalie was great! Made leaving my giant breed puppy super easy when I had a last minute family emergency. Punctual, good communication, asked good questions :)”

“My border collie hates to be left alone. When I got home after Jynette’s visit, Keira was calm and happy. So the visit and potty break were just what she needed. Great job!”

“Divine takes such good care of our Winnie! She’s the first dog walker we’ve hired and she has been flexible with our schedule changes week to week, sends the sweetest pictures, and is always on time.”

About: I am a former Animal Control Officer. I have 5+ years in the veterinary field and another 10+ years of experience in general animal welfare. I am comfortable with animal handling and giving medications. I have experience with many different breeds and ages, no fur friend too small or too tall! I am comfortable with rescue fur friends with special needs. Pet care is not only part of my daily routine at home with my own animals but my goal is to make pet care my full time job for others animals as well! I currently am working part time which gives me time to make sure your animals are well cared for and get plenty of attention throughout our time together! I am comfortable caring for your fur babies in whatever ways they are normally cared for. I appreciate and respect that everyone’s households run a little differently and I will do my best to make sure your pet doesn’t even notice that you’re away!

About: I’ve had dogs since I was eight years old. Including puppies and rescuing senior dogs. Some of the senior dogs were at the end of their life so I understand the need for compassion and care. I currently have a two year old puppy which I have trained since she was five months old. So I am very versed in the need for daily exercise, consistent training, and daily enrichment. I’ve been dog sitting for at least ten years. Including extended stays at my residence. I’m currently a part time worker, looking for something to fill my extra time. So I have a very flexible schedule and I’m always ready for some extra dog time. My goal is to always put your pets need first. Including any care they need. Including cleaning up after them and any extra medications they may need. Also adding comfort and safety in stressful situations.
About: I have personal and professional experience with dogs, working at a doggy daycare for a short amount of time (dealing with 40 dogs at a time was not for me) and being a lifelong dog owner and caretaker. I currently have two shih-tzus who are the cutest! I have dealt with dogs that have needs ranging from: Young puppies, Anxiety, obesity, dietary restrictions, diabetes, intense general health issues, anger/aggression, bad leash manners etc… I do my best to meet your dog where they are at and provide the best care I can and reinforcing the behaviors you stride for when you’re away. I’ve been a dog sitter for 5 years, a doggy daycare (Dogtopia) employee for 6 months and a doggy lover forever! I am a VCU student with classes on only Tuesday and Thursday, I am fast, reliable, professional, I will always be on time and make sure your animals get the best quality care that they deserve. I always make sure to follow the rules of every client that graciously trusts me to be in their home. Roommates make personal boarding unsafe and unpredictable, However I have reliable transportation and will be there to take care of your pup (or kitty) right on time for walks, overnights, visits, and long term stays.
“Eddie was absolutely amazing, he came at such short notice and played and took care of our pup! He was great with communication and also sent pictures! We couldn’t have asked for a better first time experience here and we will definitely be booking him again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Mechanicsville
Lynn has been wonderful. She is kind and very good with Quincy. Lynn took the time to get to know Quincy and make him feel safe and relaxed. It's Quincy's favorite time of day when Lynn comes and takes him on an adventure walk. Quincy needed a little more outdoor time than I can provide due to an illness. Lynn is very punctual and is ready to let Quincy explore. Thank you Lynn! Quincy's new best friend!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
