About: I've been providing loving and dependable dog boarding care for over years, and caring for dogs has truly become a part of my family life. My goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment where every pup can feel at home while their family is away. I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes and life stages from small breeds to giant breeds, energetic puppies to senior dogs who may need a little extra patience and attention. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and individual needs, so we take the time to provide personalized care for each pup. I am also comfortable following detailed care instructions, including administering oral medications, injections, supplements, and special feeding routines, as directed by pet parents and their veterinarian. I also have experience providing palliative and comfort-focused care for senior dogs or dogs with additional needs. After more than years in the dog boarding world, I still genuinely love what I do and look forward to continuing to provide pups with plenty of love, attention, playtime, comfort, and care while they’re away from home. 🐾❤️ Pet care is a big part of our everyday routine. Since I provide care from home, I am able to spend plenty of time with the dogs throughout the day and give them the attention, supervision, and companionship they need. My daily routine includes regular potty breaks, outdoor playtime, feeding according to each dog’s schedule, medication when needed, rest periods, and lots of love and attention. I also make sure each pup has time to settle in, relax, and feel comfortable in their new environment. I keep my schedule flexible because every dog is different. Whether I am caring for an energetic puppy, an adult dog who loves to play, or a senior pup who prefers a slower and quieter routine, I adjust my day to meet their individual needs. 🐾 Safety, comfort, and trust are always my top priorities. In my home, I provide a clean, secure, and welcoming environment where dogs can relax, play, and feel like part of the family. My home has a fully enclosed 6-foot vinyl privacy fence, giving our guests a secure outdoor space for supervised potty breaks, fresh air, exercise, and playtime. I also keep fresh, clean water bowls available outside during playtime and outdoor time, so our pups always have easy access to water and can stay hydrated, especially during warmer days. I carefully follow each pet parent’s instructions regarding feeding, medications, supplements, potty routines, sleeping arrangements, and any special needs or restrictions. I supervise interactions and take the time to understand each dog’s personality, behavior, and comfort level. Dogs are separated when needed for meals, rest, safety, or simply when they need their own personal space. I pay close attention to changes in appetite, energy, bathroom habits, or behavior and communicate with pet parents if I notice anything concerning. With over years of boarding experience, I understand how important it is to trust the people caring for your dog. I treat every pup with patience, respect, affection, and individualized care, with the goal of making their stay feel safe, comfortable, and as close to home as possible. 🐾
“This was my first time using Rover and I was very pleased with Melissa and the love her family gave my sweet little Louie. We booked an overnight boarding for 3 nights and her service and communication were next to none. I greatly appreciate her daily photo updates, as it secured not only myself but the fact my kids were just as pleased to know that their fur brother was in great hands . I’d definitely be willing to book her again and recommend her services to anyone looking for a compassionate caregiver!”

“As always, Matt is a fantastic dogsitter. He took great care of our Dalmatian and Dachshund while we were out of the country, even giving extra love and TLC to our little girl when she had some tummy upset.”

“Lisa was great with Charlie who can get a little anxious when I leave him in new surroundings. She kept me updated as he adjusted and made sure he was comfortable and happy the entire time!”

“From start to finish, Michaela did a wonderful job watching our little dog Coco! She always responded in a timely manner and kept in touch with us, sending pictures and updates daily. We’re so grateful that Coco was loved and taken well care during our trip abroad. We would highly recommend Michaela if you should need a loving and caring pet sitter!!🥰🐾”

“As this was my first time using Rover, I was super nervous about leaving my baby. But the moment I dropped him off, I instantly felt at ease. From the regular check-ins to all the adorable pictures, I truly couldn't have asked for a better sitter for Loui. I was able to relax and fully enjoy my trip knowing he was in such great hands. I would 100% recommend Deven & Tyreek to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their pet. Thank you both so much for taking such amazing care of my baby! 🐾💕”

“Alison was amazing with our pup Tilly! she was very welcoming and kind! she kept us updated with texts and pictures which was very nice and thoughtful! About: Hi my names Amadi. Thanks for taking a second to check out my profile! I have a little over 15 years of experience in training dogs, helping with socialization skills, and general caretaking. Currently I work from home, a light schedule as I’m testing to obtain another specialty license. In my daily life I used to foster dogs for a rescue. Most of my fosters came from very rough beginnings and had many social and/or anxiety issues but we have been able to overcome them💙 With that being said I totally understand how some dogs are unsure of new people and I’m 100% willing to take the time needed to get to know your fur baby. I do currently have an iguana in his own enclosure and I have extensive reptile knowledge and I’m willing to assist with those as well. I currently have a light schedule that I work from home, so I am available for a lot of pet care needs. I do frequent bathroom visits play, and meal time. I am 100% about safety first. I will not accept any new dogs that will put anyone else in jeopardy. Although I have experience in housing a large number of dogs from my time fostering out in Goochland, and my time working in a doggy daycare, I do not wish to take on a large number of dogs at any one time.
“Myrna was great with our dog Archie!! She's very experienced with watching dogs and her house seems like a great environment for dogs to have a great time. I'd highly recommend her!”

“Adam is a natural, per Cooper. We knew the moment we met him that Cooper was in good hands. Cooper took to him immediately and made himself at home. We got him back last night and Cooper was calm and happy. Thanks Adam!!!”

“Wow!! Could not be any happier. Miss Kim went “above & beyond” in every aspect of caring for our 8 Mo old Basset for a week. She is a true dog whisperer. Gave us some good advice as well due to her experience. Will definitely look her up in the future. Mac was super happy, super clean and had a great week. We used a kennel in the past and it didn’t work out so well. Thank you so very much.”

“They were so accommodating and understanding for our baby Odin (7 weeks). She was prompt on responding and even sent pictures of how he was doing while I’m her care. I would definitely recommend them and will personally use her again to watch our pup!”

“Laura and DJ took such great care of our dogs, Benny and Kiwi, while we were away for our wedding weekend!! They sent regular picture and video updates of the pups playing, getting love, and having fun. I can’t thank them enough! Definitely 10/10 recommend booking with them!”

“My dog Chase stayed with Ayme for several nights and we were so pleased with the whole experience! This was our first booking with Rover, and Ayme was the perfect example of what the site strives for. She was super responsive to our booking request, logistics inquiries, and questions. During our meet and greet and subsequent stay, Ayme was sweet and friendly and welcoming to Chase (and me!). She sent pictures throughout his stay. Chase enjoyed walks, play time in her yard, and a cozy spot to snooze with lots of love. We will be booking again with Ayme!”

“If I could give 100 stars I would for the exceptional care Sarah gave to my baby I would. Not only did she care for Penny as if she was her own, this was the first time Penny has been left with anyone other than family, and Sarah made Penny feel as though she was family. I would recommend Sarah to service your pet without hesitation only when I wouldn't need her again, period!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
