“Lucky is the best. This was our first time using Rover and leaving our dog with anyone for such a long period of time. Lucky made it so easy. The meet and greet went well; The dogs got along very well. Excellent experience! She sent updates and pictures. We’re super excited to have found her and will definitely use her again. Lucky is now our go to person whenever we need boarding.”

“Five-star experience! Boone was so well-cared for and clearly loved the extra attention from the whole family. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend stay. Michelle is super communicative and flexible, making everything very easy.”
“Radka and her family were very loving and caring towards our puppy. Our puppy was so happy in their care. I'm very appreciative that Radka shared pics every few hours. We're so happy we found her. I'm leaving my puppy with her every time I have to go out of town.”

“Ashli is a wonderful person and pet sitter! She is so good with dogs and took great care of our dog, Zoey, like she was one of her own. Ashli also sent us so many sweet pictures and videos while we were away, which were so nice to receive. She also has a sweet dog, Fozzy, that Zoey got to hang with. We felt very safe and comforted knowing that Ashli was taking care of Zoey. We will definitely call her up again!”

“My pooch was very well cared for with Susan! She has a sweet dog herself that was great play companion. Appreciated daily pics to keep me updated of how she was doing!”

“Adam was great with Poppy. He’s a gentle soul who clearly loves animals. However, when his kids were there overnight, we learned that Poppy isn’t comfortable with younger kids. Adam made it work for the brief period the kids were around Poppy, but it’s not realistic to need to separate young kids in the home and the visiting dog. Sadly we’re still looking for a sitter.”

“Kira was an absolute dream to work with. I've been on the road with my dog for 10 months straight and have used many sitters across the country and she was by far the most reliable and communicative. My dog almost didn't want to come back home with me! But in all seriousness, Kira was professional and accommodating when I had to shift to an overnight last minute. She's just beginning her journey towards a career working with animals, so she is highly qualified to deal with all types of situations. Cannot recommend highly enough !!”

“I cant say enough good things about Myrna. She took exceptional care of my senior pup and went above and beyond to make him feel safe, comfortable, and loved during his stay. My dog has some incontinence issues and can be very attached to his people. Myrna was incredibly understanding, accomidating, and patient with his special needs. Thank you!”

“Camille was awesome! She sent pictures everyday showing how Pepsi was doing, which I must say, he had a great time with her. She was super easy to work with, flexible and understanding. I strongly recommend Camille for her service. I’m confident that once you work with her, you will become a permanent customer to her. Thank you for your great service, Camille!”

“My dogs loved staying with Vanessa. They’re a bit high strung but she accommodated them, let them settle at their own pace, and kept me updated. She took them to the park to get energy out, cuddled with them on a rainy day, and even gave Jack the toy he loved so much while with her. They came home happy and tired from a great weekend!”
“Michaela was AMAZING! So sweet and attentive to Violet, and sent lots of updates and pictures throughout the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. She administered Violet’s medications and special food three times a day with no issues and made everything feel effortless. Michaela was also very easy to schedule with and super responsive with communication. We’re so grateful to have found her and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Ronda was absolutely great! My pup warmed up to her immediately and I could tell by the end of her trip, Ronda was a fave! She took great care of pup and kept me up to date on her walks and behavior. My dog sometimes gets separation anxiety, but ate and enjoyed all her time. She was also super flexible with me! Highly recommend!”
“Jessica was absolutely amazing. She sent me a lot of pictures of Shaggy and kept me up-to-date of his progress. She let me know what he ate and how he did throughout the day super communicative. Best experience I’ve had with Rover.”

“The girls had an awesome time with Amy and her family! They love spending time with her! Definitely recommend Amy to care for and love your fur babies while you are away!”

“Stephanie had such wonderful communication and my cat was extremely safe and comfortable. Well recommended and will definitely use her services again. Thanks for the extra treats”

About: Hi! My husband and I have both had dogs since we were young kids. We currently have a senior dog (female) and a puppy (male 11months). Both are Australian shepherds. We also have two kids (6 and 8). We have a lot of experience with dogs of all ages and needs. :) We have a fenced in yard and our puppy would love someone to play with during the day. I am home with my kids pretty much all summer, so I’m available most of the day. Dogs will need to be good with other dogs and young children as well as spayed/neutered. We have a puppy, so I am in and out all day to take him outside and play with him. I am also home with my kids all summer, so we are at home a lot! I have a fenced in yard and two friendly dogs to keep your pup company. They are both crate trained, although our senior dog is left out when we leave. I have an extra small crate (or you can bring one). We love dogs and would treat yours like our own.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
