“Im so glad my little guy got to stay with Emily and her daughter! He came home happy and healthy, and Emily sent some photos and updates while we were away. Great and quick to communicate! Highly recommend.”

“Pamela and Paul are legit ‘dog people’. They got to know Ollie pretty quickly and confidently helped him ease into a friendship with Marlowe and another client. I received the usual photos of Ollie with a ball or snuggling humans, but was surprised to also receive photos of Ollie playing and snuggling with the other dogs, which was a whole new experience for him! I’m happy to know he was so well taken care of during his time with Pamela, Paul and Marlowe and will reach out again for future boarding!”

“Dawn went above and beyond for Rocky. She sent photos multiple times per day and always let us know how he was doing via text. And she sent us home with frozen treats for Rocky. He didn't want to come home :)”

“We used Cyndi over spring break for our Maddie girl and she was the absolute best dog sitter we’ve ever had! We knew Maddie was in good hands with Cyndi taking care of her for that whole week with her daily pictures and sending text updates to let us know how everything was going. We were so blessed to have found her to take care of our fur baby and will for sure ask her again!!”

“Kendra has been amazing! She made sure to send pictures and provided me with regular updates. I felt at ease knowing my fur baby was in good hands. Something that is hard to come by these days. I will be using her again!”

“Matt’s place is my girls favorite place! They get the backyard, the cozy home, and all the friends they could hope for!! They don’t want to come home! Thanks for taking such great care of my crazy girls!”

“Christina and her family were amazing with our skittish girl. She communicated every day with status updates and I felt her compassion in every message. She put our minds at ease which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy the vacation. Will book her again for future boarding stays.”

“My pup had a great time with Jesse and his dogs! He got lots of exercise and was a happy boy when we picked him up. Jesse has very prompt and helpful communication. Will book again!”

“Amber was very easy going! She showed great patience while I weighed all my options for Cody’s boarding. She was always available to communicate. I will definitely be using Amber again!”

“My fur-child Jetson had a great 4 day stay at Julie"s place. She kept my mind at ease by sending lots of updates and pictures while he was in her care. She also was great at making sure he stayed on his medication and letting me know exactly how she was handling his anxiety and health concerns. I was so comfortable with her care of him and will be sure to book her again in the future!”

“My dog came back his self and Abby let me know that he does well with cats, which is great. I came to pick him up straight from the airport and I was running half an hour late to pick him up but Abby was accommodating.”
“I always trust my little man with Paula! She treats him like one of her own and sends me pics and updates everyday. Highly recommend her to anyone seeking a loving and responsible petsitter.”

“Dogs had a great time! We were updated daily with photos and videos and felt comfortable knowing our dogs were well taken care of, will definitely be booking again :)”

“Dylan and Alex were wonderful with our four babies! I got updates and pictures everyday! We will definitely book with them every time we need to board our babies now! Matt and Heather”

“Kira was an absolute dream to work with. I've been on the road with my dog for 10 months straight and have used many sitters across the country and she was by far the most reliable and communicative. My dog almost didn't want to come back home with me! But in all seriousness, Kira was professional and accommodating when I had to shift to an overnight last minute. She's just beginning her journey towards a career working with animals, so she is highly qualified to deal with all types of situations. Cannot recommend highly enough !!”

About: Hi! My husband and I have both had dogs since we were young kids. We currently have a senior dog (female) and a puppy (male 11months). Both are Australian shepherds. We also have two kids (6 and 8). We have a lot of experience with dogs of all ages and needs. :) We have a fenced in yard and our puppy would love someone to play with during the day. I am home with my kids pretty much all summer, so I’m available most of the day. Dogs will need to be good with other dogs and young children as well as spayed/neutered. We have a puppy, so I am in and out all day to take him outside and play with him. I am also home with my kids all summer, so we are at home a lot! I have a fenced in yard and two friendly dogs to keep your pup company. They are both crate trained, although our senior dog is left out when we leave. I have an extra small crate (or you can bring one). We love dogs and would treat yours like our own.
“Libby was a lifesaver for us. She took care of our geriatric Golden for three days while we were away, then stepped up for an additional four days at the last moment due a a medical emergency, even buying addition food and supplements as needed. She is clearly a dog lover, and our Golden was very comfortable and well cared for with her and her two dogs. Excellent communication and lots of photos completely set our minds at ease at a time when we didn’t need any additional worries. We even got a thorough report-card and little polaroid of our Golden when we picked her up. I can’t say enough good things about Libby. Your dog would be very lucky to have her as a sitter.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
