“Marvin responded very quickly for a last minute request and was able to take care of my bully. He was communicative sent great pictures and gave him great walks. My guy came home happy. It was assuring to know he was still taken care of. 10/10 highly recommend”

“Kendra was GREAT! I am skeptical about leaving my girl but knew Kendra could be trusted when my girl was eager to enter the house during our meet and greet session. During Demie's stay, Kendra sent morning and afternoon check-ins with photos daily. She took GREAT care of my baby! I will be booking my her next stay immediately.”

“Matt was a wonderful host! Charlie has a blast during his stay and we enjoyed seeing all of the daily updates and photos of the fun he was having. He came home happy and tired! :-)”

“Amy has been great to us. We've boarded with her several times, and our nervous pup has gotten comfortable staying with her. Amy is great on communication and sending updates”

About: I have had pets my whole life and enjoy playing and socializing with them. I have walked other peoples dogs and taken care of friends and neighbors cats. I'm currently working part-time so I'll have plenty of time to take care of your pets needs. I have a very flexible schedule. And I can work around your needs. I have a fenced in yard and I have a cat that is used to being around a dog. If your dog cannot be around cats, I can make sure that they do not interact.
“Rachel was an absolute lifesaver! She stepped in at the last minute after our original sitter canceled, and we couldn’t have been more grateful. She was incredibly flexible, kept us updated with messages and photos, and made us feel at ease knowing our pups were in good hands. She also has two dogs of her own, and they got along great with ours, which made the experience even better. Our dogs came home happy and well cared for. We would definitely book with Rachel again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!”

“Abby was a wonderful sitter for my two large Dobermans. The oldest has cancer and the youngest, I admit, is a spoiled handful. Abby was knowledgeable in the handling of both. I recommend her highly.”

“Im so glad my little guy got to stay with Emily and her daughter! He came home happy and healthy, and Emily sent some photos and updates while we were away. Great and quick to communicate! Highly recommend.”

“Christina and her family took excellent care of my 2 dogs. We really appreciated the daily text and pictures. It gives you peace of mind to know that they are being taken care of . I would definitely leave my pups in her care every time, as long as she continues.”

“Gulmira was so great with our shy girl Sophie! She sent plenty of updates and was very communicative, helping us feel very comfortable leaving Sophie there for the first time! It’s clear Sophie was loved so much while she was there too and she was also exercised very well, got plenty of walks and time to explore, and made some doggy friends along the way. We are so pleased with the stay and could not recommend Gulmira more! She’s definitely a great choice if you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares and is kind and patient with animals.”

“Jesse was so great with Zoey. He sent lots of photos, took her on a lot of walks and spent cuddle time with her. It’s clear he truly loves animals. We’d love for Zoey to stay with Jesse again.”

“Elizabeth is the best communicator about Tulley’s stay I’ve ever experienced on Rover! She contacted and sent photos twice a day which was so reassuring! He looked so content in the photos, especially when he was snuggling beside her on the couch. That showed me how happy he was. He also has digestive issues that Elizabeth managed perfectly. Totally recommend her to care for your dog!”
“We are first time clients of rover.com and were very blessed to find Paula for boarding our 2 boy kitties for 2 weeks while we were out of the country. Paula's care was top notch and her communications with us were extremely prompt. She made sure our boys were happy and adjusted, plus noticed any medical/vet issues and sent numerous updates and photos. We will definitely use Paula again and highly recommend her to others!”

“Hilary was an excellent choice for our dog while we were out of town. She sent multiple pictures showing his walks and good times that made us smile and remove any fears we had about using this service for the first time. We will definitely ask her to watch our dog any time she is available when we need it. ?”

“They’re always amazing great communicators and they treat Penelope just like she would be if she was their dog. They truly are wonderful family that also our friendly and nice.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
