“Milo LOVES spending time with Dahlia and Jalen! All the photos they send us show that he gets lots of exercise and snuggles. He has made some wonderful bonus friends there too!”

“Maddie was absolutely amazing with our puppy! She kept us updated throughout our trip with messages and pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear that she genuinely cared for him and treated him like her own. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for puppy, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend Maddie to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter, and we will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Eric is the best! I recently had a sitter cancel 6 hours before drop-off -- I thought my vacation was ruined! I immediately put out a Sunday morning last-minute Rover requests for a sitter, with very low expectations that anyone would even respond, much less accept. Within a few minutes, Eric responded and then accepted. He totally saved my vacation! After that, he was extremely communicative, but even better, he was perfect for my highly energetic doggo. He gave long dauly walks and play sessions. I knew that my dog would love having his Bucky as a 24/7 playmate, but I was very concerned that he has cats, since Sheba had never seen a cat before. Since she has a high prey drive, I thought there could be serious problems. Eric, however, seems to have a natural understanding of pets, and he was able to safely introduce Sheba to his cats, and apparently there were no issues. Also, Eric was highly flexible when my return flight was delayed by a day, and quickly agreed to extend the stay. I couldn't have asked for a better experience from start to finish.”

“Christina is an awesome dog sitter! Super nice and caring. She kept us in the loop with updates, pics, and videos while we were away. The backyard is a game-changer, especially for our lively Aussie and big Old English Sheepdog. Thumbs up for keeping our pups happy! And we will definitely book with her again! 🐾”

“Ari took such good care of Stella!! I received updates and photos every day. You could tell Stella was having an awesome time. Ari was very accommodating of Stellas needs as an older dog with knee issues. Her home is so dog friendly with plenty of places for Stella to rest and explore. She was also very understanding and flexible with my travel plans. Would 1000% recommend, and Stella will be back here for sure”

“I could not possibly speak more highly of Dawn. She was in constant communication providing updates and photos of our dog and you can tell she genuinely loves taking care of pets. She was incredibly understanding and went above and beyond when our family was unexpectedly stranded on our way back from our vacation.”

“Amanda did a fantastic job with Willow. I was impressed with Amanda’s follow up. I received pictures multiple times a day. She understands that Willow is my world. She made sure that I knew that Willow was eating interacting with the other dogs and comfortable where she was. Not only will I rebook with Amanda. I already have.”

“Penny had so much fun with Amy and her furry friends during her stay. Amy sent lots of pictures and videos throughout Pennys stay. She’ll be excited to come back soon!”

“Kourtney was awesome! She was very flexible and accommodating to our schedule, which we really appreciated. She also took great care of our pups and sent us daily updates with photos. We felt extremely confident leaving our dogs in her care, and will definitely use her services again if we are in the Charlottesville area!”

“Elizabeth was excellent, one of the best pet sitters I have interacted with through Rover and beyond. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my dog with her again as she was very responsive and caring. She regularly sent updates and pictures without me ever having to ask for it. She made sure my pet got to enjoy long walks, had enough play time and was tired out. I have used her service twice and I have been pleased both times. Her calendar seems pretty full so I will be sure to ask her in advance next time. Seriously, the best!”

“Kristen was an absolute pleasure to work with and did an awesome job at caring for my two dogs while we were on vacation. She was flexible with times for pick up and drop off and gave me daily updates on how the dogs were doing. I'm surprised my dogs would even get in the car to come home since they had such a good time staying at her place! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a rover sitter for their pet!”

“Aaren and Jordan were such fabulous sitters for my itty bitty 80lbs pittie! They sent several pics and vids throughout his 2day stay which definitely put me as ease. Highly recommend!”
“Miranda is absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! She took care of our dog Archie last-minute (for the first time, too) and was incredibly kind, helpful, and constantly updated me while watching him. Archie had such a good time, he didn't want to leave! We also had to pick him up past midnight on our way back, and Miranda was extremely accommodating and, again, was just amazing overall. Her dog Crush was also super sweet and has become Archie's first best friend. We will absolutely be using her services again, and I highly recommend others to do the same!!!”

“Grace took such good care of Macy for a long weekend! I got picture updates throughout her stay and she looked very happy the whole time. Looked like lots of walks and playtime”

“Riley took great care of my dog over the holidays! He got plenty of play time and snuggles. She sent plenty of pictures and videos to keep me updated. Will definitely book her again.”

“Andreea took care of Susie for more than 2 weeks while we were out of the country. Susie is 14+ years old, a little blind, a little deaf. Andreea was very attentive to Susie and let us know that she had a digestive problem one time and an eye problem one time. Andreea bought eye drops and started giving them to Susie, after we talked with our vet. So we were very happy with how Andreea cared for Susie - thank you.”

“Joyce was great! Left my 2 dachsunds with her for a week while we went on a cruise. This was the very first time the babies been left with anyone and she took great care of them, she sent pictures and updates the whole time, which let us vacay without worries! I would definitely reach out to Joyce again in the future ❤️❤️”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
