“Jocelyn was an incredible cat sitter for our two young cats. She was great to communicate with and she sent us many pictures/videos while we were away. She made sure our cats were receiving attention, playtime and kindness. She really went above and beyond what we initially expected from a cat sitter.”

“Tabitha was so kind helping my dogs when we needed to get care for them last minute! She sent great pictures and communicated updates as needed. She was reliable, flexible and friendly- We highly recommend her.”

“Alyssia is so wonderful with all of our pets for both overnights and drop-ins. She's great with updates and takes such good care. I've already booked more dates with her.”

“Cait was amazing with our Goldendoodle, Bella! She spent lots of quality time with her and allowed us to enjoy our family vacation knowing she was taken care of. Updates and photos every visit really helped! Even took care of a few things around the house like bringing in mail and packages. Definitely recommend her!”

“I reached out to Julia rather last minute for help with checking in on my two kitties while I was away on a trip. She was very flexible with the last minute accommodations which was awesome. She was punctual and professional! She sent lots of pictures and kept me updated on her check-ins. One of my cats needed some medication and Julia was happy to help with that. Going on a trip can be stressful worrying about your fur children, but Julia was great and I didn’t have any doubts that she was taking good care of them.”

“Laura continues to be an amazing sitter! This must be the 4th time now and more to come. My senior cat is always a happy boy when she comes to visit and I know he is in great hands with her when I am away. I look forward to booking with her again!”

“Fran was so awesome! We will definitely ask her to take care of our babies again. She was communicative and respectful of our space, and it was clear that she cared about our cats very much (and our plants!!). We loved all the updates and pics while we were gone and it felt like we could truly enjoy our trip away. Thanks Fran!”

“Alison was wonderful. My family was dealing with extremely challenging circumstances and I didn’t make things as high a a priority as I should I have. I was extremely fortunate to have had a wonderful drop in visit by her where Hallie was well-loved on and cared for and I absolutely can not recommend her enough.”
“Wesley is so wonderful. I have a very skittish Mastiff and Wesley went out of his way to bond with him. He took the best care of both my dogs. He was prompt and accommodating. I would recommend him to anyone.”

“Dana is seems to be very good with Keira. The dog is always happy in the pictures she sends. I think she does a great job. It was a big plus that she already knew how to use a gentle leader.”

“Katie is an exceptional animal caretaker. I highly recommend her services to anyone seeking proper care for their pets. We’ll definitely be using her services every time we can in the future.”

“We had a great experience with Thomas! He went above and beyond with Dexter, walking him all over the neighborhood, playing with him in the backyard, and giving him enough exercise to tire him out. The communication was excellent and we’ll be sure to reach out to him in the future!”

About: Hello! My name is Christian and I have been a dog lover since the age of 8 when we got a black lab named Charlie. He was a 100+ lb teddy bear who would go on runs, play basketball, and nap whenever he got the chance. Then, my fiancé (at the time) and I got a miniature long haired dachshund who is now seven months old. A year later, we adopted another miniature long haired dachshund from the same family (half-brother). As you can see, I love dogs of all shapes and sizes. Growing up, I strongly considered being a vet as being around animals makes me happiest. If you choose me to take care of your dog, you can be sure they will be loved, pampered, and given high quality care. Contact me today! I am currently off for the summer as a doctoral student and work remotely part-time during the school year. So, my schedule is pretty flexible and I am confident that we can work out an agreeable schedule. I will plan to take care of your fur babies in your own home unless you have a small animal that is particularly friendly with others. It is extremely important to me that your animals feel safe, loved, and cared for in the best way possible. During the meet and greet, I will try to get an understanding of their needs and levels of affection that are appropriate. I also have three young kiddos who love animals and have been taught the appropriate, safe way to approach animals that are not ours. If that would be helpful or meaningful for your animals, I know they would love to meet them too, but obviously at your discretion.
“Excellent communicator. Patient. Gets to know pets. Pleasant to deal with. I can’t say enough. He has been a godsend. I’ve had last minute plans that he has accommodated.”

About: Hi! I'm a passionate pet sitter with professional experience working in both a boarding kennel and a veterinary clinic. During my time at the kennel, I cared for pets of all ages—from young puppies and kittens to senior pets—and worked with a wide variety of breeds, personalities, and energy levels. I also have experience caring for pets with medical conditions and special needs, including administering medications and providing attentive, individualized care. Working in a veterinary clinic has further strengthened my knowledge of animal health and behavior, allowing me to recognize when a pet may need extra attention and provide confident, compassionate care. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I'll treat them like one of my own. My goal is to keep your pets happy, safe, and comfortable while giving you peace of mind with regular updates and photos throughout my visits. 🐾 I currently work full time at the veterinary clinic but I can pop in multiple times a day to check on your furry friend(s) or I can also stay the night at your house 😊 When caring for your furry friends in their home, my goal is to keep them comfortable, safe, and on their normal routine as much as possible. I provide feeding, fresh water, walks, litter box or potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of companionship and attention based on each pet’s personality and needs. I also have experience working in both a veterinary clinic and a boarding kennel, so I’m comfortable caring for pets of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, including those with medical conditions or special care instructions. I understand that pets feel most secure in their own environment, so I take the time to make them feel calm and cared for while you’re away. I can administer medications if needed and will closely follow any instructions you provide to ensure their health and well-being. During each visit, I’ll also check that everything is safe and in order in your home, and I’ll provide regular updates with photos and messages so you always know how your pets are doing. My goal is to give you peace of mind knowing your furry family members are in caring, capable hands. 🐾

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Midlothian
I cannot speak highly enough about Francoise’s stay with my cat Socks! Every single drop in, she sent me photos, descriptions of what happened, and loved heavily on my sweet baby. I have never been away from Socks for that long and because of her love for animals and the work that she does, Socks barely recognized I was gone! I will be booking again when I go out of town again! Socks already misses his auntie Fran!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Midlothian. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
